VMwawre上のfedora 8で3Dデスクトップ環境を復活〜

radeon HD2400PROを退かせ、geforce 8600GSをメインに戻したところ、

ホストのubuntuからxdmcp経由で、VMware上のfedora 8にログイン
ログイン先でcompizで3Dデスクトップ

を復活できた。ワークスペースをcubeで転がしたり、アイコニックのアニメーションが楽しい。

Si te interesa instalar Elements, en su pagina oficial han dejado un script instalador.
Elements es un plugin para Compiz Fusion que integra particulas como la nieve, hojas y luciernagas en movimiento para decorar el fondo de pantalla del escritorio. Incluso puedes tener una pecera virtual (ver video).

Come voi tutti sapete Compiz è il software che permette gli effetti grafici in Ubuntu come per esempio quello del cubo 3D. Scriverò una guida su Compiz. Perchè? Perchè tante persone, nonostante le varie discussioni sul forum della comunità italiana, hanno difficoltà con compiz o per via della scheda video o perchè non sanno come si installa o perchè non sanno i tasti che si devono premere per far funzionare gli effetti o altro ancora. Non so se sarà breve o lungo, vedremo. Se mi supporterete con le donazioni di un euro (guardate a destra dove ce l'immagine di paypal) magari sarò più motivato, vedremo. Intanto devo partire. La guida sarà scritta con OpenOffice su Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron e poi esportata in PDF.

Instala Compiz fusion GIT - Llegó la esfera y el cilindro

Muchos blogs han dicho "llega la esfera y el cilindro", vean el video en youTube... y más bla,bla,bla...Hoy haremos algo facil para tener listo a un inestable Compiz GIT con nuevos efectos.

Desde Libera tu mente encontramos una buena guía para instalar Git sin tantas cosas.

# En mi caso yo me salte el primer paso. Si son novatos recomiendo que lo hagan paso a paso, pero si saben como recuperar su sistema, no hay problema.

Para Instalar

1· Desinstalar Compiz, en caso de tenerlo instalado. Para eso abrimos Synaptic o Adept, buscamos compiz, seleccionamos todo lo que encuentre y lo desinstalamos.

2· Crear una carpeta llamada Compiz en el home. Para eso en consola ejecutamos

mkdir ~/Compiz

y entrar al directorio con

cd ~/Compiz

De ahora en adelante estaremos haciendo toda la operación en este directorio y los comandos que se ejecuten no nos mandarán a otro directorio.

3· Descargar el script Makefusion desde este enlace. O ejecutando

wget http://personales.ya.com/telemako/makefusion.tar.gz

Y desde el navegador, descargar este archivo que es un patch para el script, en la carpeta Compiz de nuestro home.

Si usás KDE, deberías editar el script con el comando kate makefusion, buscar la línea donde dice COMPIZREMOVE="kde" y cambiarla por COMPIZREMOVE="gnome". Si usas Gnome, no hace falta cambiar nada.

6· Editamos el sources.list.

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list # En en caso que sea Ubuntu

sudo kate /etc/apt/sources.list # En caso de ser Kubuntu

Le agregamos al final de todo

# Quattro's Ubuntu Gutsy EyeCandy Repository (GPG key: 641AC84F) deb http://kwatrow.nl/repo Gutsy compiz-fusion-git

Guardamos y ejecutamos:

wget http://kwatrow.nl/repo/Quattro.gpg

sudo apt-key add Quattro.gpg

rm Quattro.gpg

Actualizamos

sudo aptitude update

sudo aptitude full-upgrade

5· Instalamos git con:

sudo apt-get install git-core

6· Una ves instalado GIT, le damos permisos de ejecución al script

chmod +x makefusion

6· Ejecutamos el siguiente comando para que el script descargue los paquetes necesarios para la compilación.
A partir de ahora todo dependerá se la velocidad de su conexion y el poder de su equipo.

./makefusion packages

7· Luego ejecutamos lo siguiente para que el script descargue el código fuente de Compiz

./makefusion clone

Y esperamos a que termine de descargar

8· A continuación, ejecutamos lo siguiente para aplicar el parche que descargamos

tar xvzf compiz-patches-HEAD.tar.gz

cp ~/Compiz/compiz-patches/compiz-disable-libx11-xcb-support.patch ~/Compiz/compiz

cd compiz

patch < compiz-disable-libx11-xcb-support.patch

Luego de ejecutar el segundo comando, va a pedir dos rutas. En la primera ponemos lo siguiente:

include/compiz-core.h

y en la segunda esto:

src/display.c

9· Una vez hecho esto, podemos instalar con el siguiente comando:

cd ..

./makefusion install

La instalación va ademorar un tiempo pero debería ir bien. Una vez terminada, habría que ejecutar Compiz Fusion Icon desde Aplicaciones -> Herramientas del sistema -> Compiz Fusion Icon o en KDE Menú K -> Sistema -> Compiz Fusion Icon.

Nota: en caso de que al terminar de instalar, el incio de sesión en Gnome se haga muy lento, habría que ir a Sistema -> Preferencias -> Sesiones y desactivar la entrada que dice Visual, con eso se debería solucionar.

PARA ACTUALIZAR

Para actualizar los pasos son muy parecidos a los pasos para instalar. Sin borrar ningún archivo dela carpeta ~/Compiz, ejecutamos:

$ cd ~/Compiz $ ./makefusion packages $ ./makefusion clone $ ./makefusion install

PARA DESINSTALAR

Si desean desinstalar, bastaría con hacer:

$ cd ~/Compiz $ ./makefusion uninstall

What is Ubuntu?

Ubuntu is a linux distribution that is currently rated as the best distro on Distrowatch.

Why Ubuntu/Linux?

Apart from the fact that ubuntu is the best linux distro it is very stable and easy to use. Linux has been improving a lot in the past years and now it is at a point where it could be used as desktop system. Long back linux was only used as servers and still is because of its stability and security. It is very secure and stable. A lot of you have experienced whats called the "blue screen of death" when your computer just goes blue and restarts. You can find out more about it here. If you haven't already you might sometime in the future. It doesn't mean you will but you might. It occurs when a hardware or software error occurs and to prevent further damage it gives you a blue screen and restarts your computer. This is very annoying and happens a lot on Microsoft Windows OS such as Vista. Why not use something that is easier to use, more stable, and more secure. What more can you ask for in an operating system.

A lot of people complain that it is not as easy to use as it is said. Look again when these were posted. Years ago! Now, linux systems are very useable and give a very good performace. One of the biggest issues people run into is installing programs. It has now become easier than ever and so easy you that you can't complain. The reason I suggested ubuntu is because it is designed for new comers to easily get used to. But don't get fooled by the ease. It is just as powerful as the any other distribution such as Novel SUSE or Redhat.

How Do I Get Started With Ubuntu?

First you need to go download a copy of the OS which is completely free because it is an open source distro and you can customize it as much as you want. To download a copy click on the following link. Download Now!
Ubuntu gives you the option of downloading a Live CD or a text based install. Using the live cd you can just pop it in your drive and try it out without even installing. To install just click on the install icon on the desktop. A text based install is where you don't get to try out the OS but it is used to only install the OS. Just follow the simple steps and you will have a running Ubuntu Desktop in no time!

Why is it not very visually appealing?

Ubuntu is based on a human theme and so brown is its theme. You will be seeing different themes on the next version. The current version is 8.04 codenamed Hardy Heron. This is where you options get very wide. Ubuntu is so customizable you can make it look exactly like you want. Finally you get to feel a desktop of your own! You can download more themes at art.gnome.org or www.gnome-look.org. I forgot to mention there are two desktop enviornments. KDE and Gnome. You can also have both but only use one at a time. Once you are done installing and setting it up with your favorite themes you can install more applications. Your desktop is then finally ready for everyday use. Believe me you are going to have an amazing experience with it. If you want to add more eye candy with desktop effects you can enable compiz which comes installed by default on ubuntu. You think Mac OSX looks cool, try compiz. There are plugins you can install to get more effects.

Mi escritorio en Gnome con compiz-git

Hoy les mostrare mi escritorio para que lo conozcan (no es la gran cosa) y de paso les enseño a instalar compiz-git (la version de desarrollo de compiz que nos da la posibilidad de cambiar el cubo de escritorios por un cilindro o una esfera, aparte de otros plugins muy interesantes)

estoy utilizando linux mint 5 elyssa y he reemplazado el uso de screenlets por applets dentro de un panel para poder verlos en todo momento

como les decía no es la gran cosa, pero en ocasiones prefiero la funcionalidad que vistosidad. aunque la esfera no es muy funcional que digamos; pero igual mola un montononon

Ahora si a lo que vinimos. A instalar compiz-git ¡¡¡¡¡

Les empezare contando que git es un sistema de control de versiones para facilitar la gestión de un proyecto software, en dicho sistema está alojada la última versión de desarrollo, con la que trabajan los programadores para seguir mejorando día a día. Por lo tanto esta versión es netamente inestable, instalenla bajo su propio riesgo ¡¡¡ . Aunque yo llevo con ella cerca de 1 mes y no he tenido problema alguno; igual uno nunca sabe cuando se instalan cosas aun en desarrollo.

bueno primero que todo aconsejo antes de empezar borrar todo rastro de compiz y emerald; para evitar malentendidos entre las versiones

instalaremos compiz-git utilizando un script diseñado para Debian y ubuntu (debian lenny, debian sid, ubuntu/kubuntu gutsy y ubuntu hardy).

para obtener el escript desde una terminal ejecutamos el comand:

wget http://www.xs4all.nl/~mgj1/downloads/compiz-git-newest.tar.gz

lo descomprimimos ejecutando:

tar xvfz compiz-git-newest.tar.gz

accesamos al directorio creado:

cd compiz-git

le damos instalar:

sudo ./compiz-git install

seleccionamos nuestra version:

1) debian sid (gnome)

2) debian sid (kde)

3)debian lenny (gnome)

4)debian lenny (kde)

5)ubuntu gutsy

6)kubuntu gutsy

7)ubuntu hardy

esperamos un rato mientras se compilan e instalan los plugins y demas. Cuando termine ya estará instalada la última versión de desarrollo de Compiz Fusion.

para manejarla recomiendo el uso de fusion icon, con el cual podemos seleccionar entre los gestores de ventanas instalados y ademas agregarlo como un programa que se cargue cada vez que se inicie el sistema

En caso de querer desinstalar esta versión de desarrollo, sólo habrá que acceder al directorio del script y ejecutar:

sudo ./compiz-git uninstall

hoy después de casi una semana babeando con kde 4.1 rc he regresado a mi linux mint 5 con gnome es que extrañaba juguetear con la esfera :) . Y recordé los inicios y mas aun a las personas que hicieron esto posible. El equipo de compiz fusion.El equipo de compiz fusion se merece su mención en la taberna, ya que lograron realizar toda una revolución y un cambio de paradigmas; le dieron un gran regalo a todos los usuarios con una variedad de efectos dinámicos algunos muy muy útiles y otros no tanto pero todos muy entretenidos e innovadores; y todo esto sin necesitar un monstruo de equipo. He visto funcionar compiz (con lo básico) en un computador con 64mb de vídeo

recuerdo en mis inicios que lo mas dinámico en el escritorio era cuando el iconito rebotaba al abrir una aplicación en kde jajaja nadie se imaginaba lo que el equipo de beryl (ahora compiz-fusion) tenia entre manos. la primera vez que intente instalar beryl tube que compilar el driver de Nvidia como tropocientas veces, matar las x otras tropocientas +1 veces, leer cuanto foro y manual y descargar los rpms de beryl (en esos tiempos utilizaba open suse y no había algo tan hermoso como el one click install) logre tener beryl y el bendito cubo girando y una felicidad enorme jajaja recuerdo que se lo mostré hasta al perro¡¡¡.

ahora un tiempo después el proyecto ha dado pasos agigantados y tenemos una gran cantidad de plugins, ya no nos extraña ver un cubo girando en nuestro monitor, con ventanas gelatinosas un vídeo reproduciendose en cada esquina y una foto de fondo cuando el cubo gira (skydome) ya nos parece lo mas normal del mundo.

este post es para recordar y agradecer a todas las personas que hicieron y hacen posible que los linuxeros podamos decir que tenemos el MEJOR escritorio entre todos los del mercado

Now let's start the settings manager:

1. System → Preferences → Advanced Desktop Effects Settings

2. Setting the cube
Enable the following plugins :
* Desktop Cube
* Rotate Cube - that is necessary to spin the cube
* Viewport Switcher (optional) - to change desktops with the mousewheel
* Cube Caps (optional) - use an images on top and bottom of the cube

3. Increase the number of the virtual desktops to 4
General Options → Desktop Size → Horizontal Virtual Size
For Vertical and number of desktop left at 1
Now we can rotate our desktop by pres [ctrl]+[alt]+[left arrow]/[right arrow]

4. Wobbly windows effects
* Enable Wobbly Windows
* At General → Map Effect and Focus effect choose Shiver
* Enable 'Snap Inverted' to prevent windows from adhering to screen edges

5. Scale effects
Use for look all windows which open in one display by moving the cursor on the corner of display/screen
Window Management -> Scale -> Bindings -> Initiate Window Picker

Instalando otras máquinas: Dell Vostro 1500

Gente, si andan buscando una buena laptop para instalarle GNU/Linux y tienen algunos ahorros para hacerlo, recomiendo sin dudas la Dell Vostro 1500.

Mi hermanilla decidió instalarle el Hardy Heron a su nueva máquina y yo feliz.

Pues bueno, les cuento que la cosa fue solo insertar el CD y saludos a mamita: en pocos minutos una instalación sin problemas. Incluso los botones frontales para controlar el volumen le funcionan perfectamente.

Instalar Ubuntu en máquinas así es muy sencillo y demuestra que Dell es un hardware bastante compatible. Ahora en esa máquina mi hermanilla ve cintas con Totem, aunque ella prefiere VLC porque maneja mejor los subtítulos y menúes de los DVDs. Además usa Amarok para sus 4GB de música, allí interactúa con su mp4 pa'andar más portátil aun, usa el OpenOffice y ya le está entrando al GIMP. Usa Firefox sin descanso y ya le entró al Pidgin también.

Ella misma buscó el fondo de pantalla y la he visto jugar con la apariencia también. Dice que ya se conectó vía inalámbrica también.

En fin, veo que ella está disfrutando esa máquina y ya algunos conocidos hasta le piropean su compu.

Ya lo saben, si andan buen billete y quieren máquina nueva, esta es una opción bastante tuanis ubunteramente hablando. Me alegra cuando veo a Dell vendiendo compus ya liberadas. Esperemos siga la tendencia.

PD: le funcionan bien los efectos extras aunque el cubo y demás toques ultramodernos del Compiz no son muy compatibles con la tarjeta de video (Intel 965) la cual está en la lista negra del Compiz (al menos hasta octubre con el lanzamiento del Ubuntu 8.10).

4. test ur compiz with this command ( with konsole ) :

root@slax:~# LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 compiz --replace --indirect-rendering --sm-disable ccp &
emerald --replace &

nb: first you must disable the transparency/shadow enable in KDE theme, or u will end with window without title ( coz its happen to me :-P )

5. From this point, my compiz is work and with great performance. You can autostart compiz with this step. Open Konqueror, click the "go" tabs, and then "Autostart". Make new text file like "compiz.sh" open it with kwrite. And put this code :

#!/bin/bash
LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 compiz --replace --indirect-rendering --sm-disable ccp &
emerald --replace &

now ur compiz will autostart when u log in.

6. For setting compiz --> run konsole and type "ccsm" enter

root@slax:~# ccsm

7. For setting emerald --> run konsole and type "emerald-theme-manager" enter

root@slax:~#emerald-theme-manager

Compiz Check e Compiz Switch: due applicazioni per Compiz

Compiz Check e Compiz Switch sono due applicazioni sviluppate da Forlong utili per diversi utilizzi con Compiz.

Il primo è un potente applicativo in grado di visionare e controllare che Compiz sia correttamente funzionante e/o supportato sulla macchina dove viene eseguito.

Installazione
Vediamo dunque come installarlo:
Scarichiamo lo script digitando in un Terminale:

wget http://blogage.de/files/4359/download -O compiz-check

adesso consentiamo l'esecuzione del file come programma:

chmod +x compiz-check

Avvio
Adesso avviamolo:

./compiz-check

Extra
Per sapere la nostra versione attuale:
compiz-check --version
Sono comunque disponibili molte altre informazioni e comandi nella pagina ufficiale del progetto: Click.

Il secondo applicativo invece serve per attivare e disattivare Compiz con un solo click, passare quindi in modo facile e veloce da Metacity a Compiz e viceversa.

Installazione
Vediamo come installarlo:
Innanzitutto è disponibile un comodo pacchetto Deb per Ubuntu, Kubuntu e Xubuntu a questo link.
Inoltre è disponibile anche la versione per Suse qui e il sorgente per qualsiasi distribuzione qui.

Scarichiamo il codice e scompattiamolo digitando in un Terminale:

wget http://blogage.de/files/3531/download -O- | tar -xzf -

entriamo nella cartella:

cd compiz-switch-0.4.0~source

e installiamo:

sudo make install

Disinstallazione
Qualora volessimo rimuoverlo basta rientrare nella cartella e digitare:

sudo make uninstall

Extra
Per la lista delle opzioni disponibili:
compiz-switch --help

Una volta finito troveremo Compiz Switch in Applicazioni > Accessori > Compiz-Switch su Gnome, K-menu > Utilità > Compiz-Switch su KDE e Applicazioni > Accessori > Compiz-Switch su XFCE.

Getting Compiz Fusion on Fedora 9

If by any chance you have not heard of Compiz fusion, its a compositing window manager which practically leaves all the Vista Aero fans in awe.. here is a small sample video of Compiz fusion, see it to beileve it.

Well its pretty easy to install it. Just install the following packages.

Emerald is the window decorator for Compiz. It is not absolutely necessary to install it but it gives much more cool title bars and window borders than the default window decorators...

CCSM is the Config utility for Compiz fusion.

Eftersom jag vill ha en svart panel med vit text så måste jag ställa in textfärgen manuellt då systemtemat är inställt med svart text.
För att ge panelerna en annan stil - ändra färg på bakgrund, förgrunder, typsnitt, etc. - än det förinställda systemtemat så måste man redigera/skapa en fil som heter .gtkrc2 som ska ligga i hemkatalogen. Koden nedan lägger man till i denna fil om man vill ha, som på skärmdumparna, vit text på panelen. Färgkoderna defineras genom hexidecimala strängar, t.ex. #FFFFFF för vitt. För att få fram den perfekta nyansen, använd en palett som den i t.ex. GIMP eller Gcolor.

Howto install and configure compiz on Ubuntu 8.04

I have installed ubuntu on my compaq notebook which is used intel 945 chipset. Compiz already installed when installed ubuntu but there is some problem when running compiz. After googling i found the answer to make compiz running normally.

Here is the step:
1. sudo apt-get update
2. I suggest to use apt-get than downloaded one by one cause of the dependency
apt-get install compiz compiz-core compiz-gnome compiz-fusion-bcop compiz-fusion-plugins-main compiz-fusion-plugins-extra compizconfig-settings-manager
3. Edit xorg.conf but u have to backup it first before make modification
- sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf_backup
- nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf

* Add this to xorg.conf "Screen" section
# Enable 32-bit ARGB GLX Visuals
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"

* Add this to xorg.conf "Device" section
Option "TripleBuffer" "true"

4. Restart X with ctrl+alt+backspace

Efecto Cubo en KDE4

A los que les guste el conocido cubo de Compiz Fusion y a la vez se vean atraídos por KDE4 les gustará ver este vídeo donde se muestran ambas cosas.

He visto cómo poco a poco han ido añadiendo efectos a KWIN4 (el gestor de ventanas de KDE4) que para mí hoy en día son imprescindibles. Un buen ejemplo es el Escalar de Compiz Fusion o el a veces práctico plugin Expo.

Personalmente el cubo no lo veo tan práctico, pero es innegable que es algo atractivo para muchos y que llama mucho la atención.

En este vídeo vais a ver el Efecto Cubo de KDE4 que aún sigue en desarrollo, pero no pinta nada mal:

Sin embargo habrá que esperar a la versión 4.2 ya que la 4.1 ya cerró la incorporación de nuevas características para pulir las definidas para la próxima v4.1.

Configurando Efeitos 3D no Ubuntu 8.04

Olá pessoal, hoje vamos aprender de uma forma bem simples a deixar o ubuntu 8.04 bem lindão com os efeitos 3D, porém você só podem fazer isso depois que vocês tiverem instalado a sua placa de video, a minha placa de video é um NVIDIA GForce 6200 com 256 de memória, o ubuntu 8.04 já vem com o caminho bonitinho para instalar ela basta clicam em:

Sistema -> Administração -> Drives de Hardware

Vai pedir a senha de usuário Administrador

Nesta tela basta você clicar em Habilitar, depois em fechar ele vai pedir para você instalar algum pacote para sua placa basta aceitar a operação, depois pedirá para que você reinicie o computador e quando voltar sua placa está instalada.

Agora que a placa está instalada vamos para outra parte.

para isso vamos primeiro abrir o Console ou Consola como está escrito ehehehhe, vamos lá

Aplicações -> Acessórios -> Consola

pronto depois de abrir o Console digite:

sudo apt-get install -y simple-ccsm

agora clique em: Sistema -> preferências -> Advanced Desktop Efects Settings

irá abrir uma janela igual a essa:

Esse é o Gerenciador de Configurações do CompizConfig, basta arrumar direitinho como você quer as suas configurações que o seu ubuntu vai ficar lindão.

Esfera y Cilindro Compiz Fusion

Para no hacer un post largo (no es mi estilo) ahora configuraremos esos plugins.

En el Fusion Icon seleccionamos la opción Setings Manager.

Ahora cuando abra CSM buscaremos en la pestaña Efectos y habilitaremos la opción Cube Reflection & Deformation (CR&D).

El CSM nos informará acerca de conflictos con los plugins, los cuales dejaremos que solucione (botón verde).

Si deseamos personalizar un poco, entraremos a las opciones que ofrece CR&D.

Cylinder (Cilindro)
Sphere (Esfera)
Ratio (Tamaño de la deformación).

También puedes poner capas a las deformaciones (preferentemente PNG)
