I'm a sucker for an exhibition opening. Promise me Pinot Noir, cheese and crackers, and I'm there. It helps, of course, if the exhibition is interesting, so I won the trifecta last night at Milly Sleeping in Carlton where Circuit was officially launched. This multi-location exhibition is loosely based on a quote by Plato, to the effect that 'the Muses gave us the arts not for "mindless pleasure" but 'as an aid to bringing our soul-circuit… into order and harmony with itself.'

I really like this idea, although I must admit I'm fond of a bit of mindless pleasure now and again too. (Pass on the new Mike Myers film, though – jeez, talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas. But Justin Timberlake in undies gets two enthusiastic thumbs up.)

The exhibition features a number of creations from local designers, such as Boy on Bike (who we blogged about not long ago) and Romance Was Born, incorporating the idea of Plato's soul circuit (or circuits in general, as it seems). It's also running at two other locations, Since Grey in Fitzroy and Cottage Industry, Fitzroy. Nice write-up on the exhibition here from Cottage Industry.

The obvious thing would be to take photos whilst stood up, so generally between 5-6ft. It's amazing how a shift in perspective can improve a photo though, just by crouching down you can create a completely different photo, or even remove unsightly background distractions. Here are two examples from Druids Bend, Brands Hatch.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Standing up"][/caption]
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Crouched down"][/caption]

This also applies to the locations you choose around a circuit, generally spectators enjoy the action from banking so they can see as much of the circuit as possible, however as a general rule motorsport shots look better from the lowest angle you can find.

Scientists at the University of Sydney have developed a switch that would allow the internet to become 60 times faster than current networks. Taking four years to complete, the switch is created using a small scratch on a piece of glass. The scratch will mean almost instantaneous error free access to the internet anywhere in the world, announced by Centre for Ultra-high bandwidth Devices for Optical Systems (CUDOS) at the Opto-Electronics and Communications Conference (OECC) held in Sydney this July.

"This is a critical building block and a fundamental advance on what is already out there. We are talking about networks that are potentially up to 100 times faster without costing the consumer any more," says Federation Fellow Professor Ben Eggleton, Director of CUDOS which is based within the School of Physics at the University of Sydney. The scratched glass is actually a photonic integrated circuit that has the capacity to increase the slow rate of information carried by optical fibres.
For the Institute Of Contemporary And Emerging Worship Studies, St. Stephens University. Essentials

For the Institute Of Contemporary And Emerging Worship Studies, St. Stephens University. Essentials Blue Online Worship Theology Course with Dan Wilt

It's not that the prosperity gospel is wrong, the preachers who preach health and wealth use scriptures that seem to be right, but somehow the reality of it all doesn't fit what goes on in our lives. The wealthiest and healthiest of people in the world aren't even Christians, which goes against the core of this type of interpretation. But it's a hard case to argue, on the surface it seems to be true. However, when we look at the life of Jesus it just doesn't fit. When we look at the Disciples and the Apostles and the New Testament Church it doesn't fit. When we look at our lives it doesn't quite line up all the time with all the claims. Something is not quite right.

It's not that the prosperity gospel is wrong, but really it's incomplete. It's asking all the wrong questions. Tom Wright puts it this way in Simply Christian: Many of the questions we ask God cant be answered directly, not because God doesn't know the answers but because our questions don't make sense. As C. S. Lewis once pointed out, many of our questions are, from God's point of view, rather like someone asking, "Is yellow square or round?" or "How many hours are there in a mile?" (Ch 9, 5th paragraph).

Asking for material possessions isn't out of the question for God, we are supposed to pray about our needs and bring our requests before God, he will provide for our needs. In fact it is implied that we pray assuming that God wants to supply for our every need. And it's certain that God did bless many of his servants with great wealth (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon, etc). Asking the question, does God want to bless us and make us rich?, is not really a good question. A better question would be, How can I worship God to my full potential?

Shooting for our full potential of worship in every aspect of life, presupposes that there is a reason to do so. God does deserve it, and that in itself is enough, but there is more. God actually has a plan. He will one day make everything right. He will bring about true justice, spirituality, relationships, and beauty (the four echoes in Simply Christian). As we understand what God has done (through the Cross and the Resurrection) and what God will do (covering the earth with his glory the way the waters cover the sea) our worship begins to reflect this in as many creative and unique ways as there are people.

Living lives of intentional theology and maturity leads to; an end to selfish desires, of service to others, and holy living. These acts of worship spring from the Cross, as we crucify our flesh, and learn to walk in the spirit. Our growth and maturing never stops, as we are transformed continually into his likeness.

Our whole lives reflect both the Cross, it's death of the sinful man, and the resurrection, new creation. As a new creation we are given a fresh start, but as the "fresh start" implies, it's only just the beginning. But the beginning of what? Even the act of Christian maturing has a purpose, and not just so we can be great Christians leading fulfilling lives enjoying Gods blessings. We do get that, but there's more.

When Jesus rose from the dead he inaugurated the beginning of the end of the old age and the beginning of the age of the Kingdom of God. It continues when we are saved and God's Spirit brings life to our spirit. It continues as our lives are redeemed from sinful acts and bondage's. It will be finalized when Jesus comes to make everything right.

Our job as Christians should be to find ways to celebrate both the past and the future. The circuit is complete when we include both the Cross and the coming of God's Kingdom. Our worship intentionally displays to the world what God is going to do. They get snap-shot of God's Kingdom as they watch our lives (families, marriages, and friendships), view our art, watch as we heal the sick and raise the dead, listen to our songs and music, become our employers/employees, see us concerned and caring for the poor and oppressed, and otherwise interact with us on a daily basis.

Locatie: Marea Irlandei, Marea Britanie

Event: Isle of Man TT

Activitate: 1907 (28 Mai)

Tip de cursa: Time-trial

Desfasurare: Traseul "Snaefell Mountain Course" (aka "Mountain Course")

Lungime circuit: 60.72 km

Punct de plecare: Douglas (capitala Isle of Man)

I consider that dilemma to be much more insignificant than it is generally thought:

Firstly, because there are formal differences in only two tenses: Indicative present and imperative mood -also in subjunctive present but is less usual-; and lastly, because no matter which form you choose, it does not represent an problem understanding or being understood by other Spanish speakers from other countries.

Which are these differences?

So, if you consider the whole scene, it is not a big deal at all.

Whom would I suggest to learn one form and whom, the other one?

Well, I would encourage people on vacation to learn or use "tú" conjugation, specially the ones who have already learnt it and who are staying here for little time and/or only for tourism; whereas, I would totally recommend "vos" forms to the following people:

- Tango lovers (Tango would not exist without "vos" and viceversa).

- The ones who move BA to study or work.

- People who want to connect with locals.

- Or simply too lazy students ("vos" is much more regular than "tú").

Is one form more correct than the other one? (I will go into it in depth later)

Couple days of off Thursday and Friday last week. So started weekend a couple of rides behind and was full of good intentions to make up over the weekend. But in the end I managed 3 rides this weekend; with a short circuit ride yesterday evening, a longer ride this morning (a repeat of last Saturday's ride) and finished with a 10 lap circuit ride this evening.

Feeling a little apprehensive as have done zero work this weekend and have a great deal to do over the next three days. Will make list tonight.

Hoping to ride a couple of mornings this week, as long as the weather is kind. This morning's long ride was almost entirely done through the rain

No Furbies were harmed in the making of this post as a cheap imitation Furby was used instead. Circuit bending is basically taking something electrical that makes sound and rewire it to allow you to warp the sound coming out. It is something that anyone can do but the more you practice the better and cleverer your creations will get. I am just a beginner and have been wanting to give this a bash for a while now. This frightening Furby wannabe was just crying out to be dismantled so what better way to start the learning process.

The first thing I did was to strip the little chap of all his fur. I love the fact that he has a real “one is not amused” look about him when hes just in his birthday suit.

Then once you have drilled down to the circuitry, take a piece of wire and start connecting random points on the board until you get some reaction from the Furby. It took me about 10 minutes to pick out the points I needed to concentrate on and by the end of it had managed to work out the two points that when connected with my piece of wire sped all his movements up and distorted his speech in a comical manner.

One would then solder in a switch to allow you to turn this functionality on and off when you’ve re-assembled the Furby but I nearly cooked the circuits causing some components to smoke so I left it.

Instead though, I disconnected his speaker and installed a couple of my own. One at the front and one hooked up to his small microphone which helps the Furby respond to human voice.

Next I connected up the speakers to a headphone jack and put him back together. Now he no longer moans in the annoying way that hes hungry all the time, instead you just hook him up to your mp3 player and he now responds to what ever music is playing.

How many more days do I have? Oh, I think it is 83. Whew! I just finished my legs and back routine, followed by the Ab Ripper X of my back in the saddle with Power 90X. Holy shoot. My hip flexors were so tired from the legs that I actually had to take a break on a few of those. Oh well, I will get better at them. I am looking forward to week number 2. Then, again, I am not really. I will stick with it though. I am not going to let those whipper snappers get the best of me next semester. I think I will make them do some of these exercises but just not tell them where it comes from. I will let them know after the semester ends.

I fell pretty good. I could use a nice massage. By the way, most of you athletes need to get a really good massage to release toxins and help bring in more oxygen to help repair the muscles. It will improve performance and just darn right feels great. I am so knotted up right now I could probably have a blanket made.

Okay, Tony, I am ready for number 2. Bring it. Everyone else, just hope I last past week 4. That is my goal this time. Once I make it pass that I should be fine.

I think I will make my classes do Circuit tomorrow so that i can recover. :)
