I found this crazy picture stumbling around online. DeviantART user FilthyLuker, in collaboration with Pedro Estrellas, created this awesome piece entiltled: "Cthulhu Fhtagn: Octo-pied Building" locates in France. Part Lovecraft, part Christo all freaking sweet! Did not find too much more info on the artist personally, but there are some fun images to look at. Check out more of FilthyLuker's installation work at his DA page.

The dog days of summer is the time of year when writers and editors call me with questions about fashion, style and, lately, politics.

I'm so used to giving answers for a living that I rarely get to ask the questions myself. Here are some questions I'd like to ask. (OK, sue me. I'm impatient so I answered them too. Old habits die harder than Bruce Willis.)

Feel free to add to my list, but keep in mind this is a public forum and a good double entendre is as risque as you can get.

Who really motivated Marie Osmond to lose all that weight? The makeup person who finally screamed at her "for God's sake it's blush not steaksauce!"

What do you wear to a foreclosure? A housecoat.

In a post-Scalia Supreme Court, what will a burglar be wearing to your home? A chalk outline.

What kind of rice is dangerous if it stays in your cabinet too long? Condi Rice.

How many years does it take Neocons to screw in a lightbulb? The same amount of time it takes them to screw everyone, 8 years.

Why is Rick Santorum's first name so often misspelled? Because the P is silent.

Why do rumors still abound that Bill Clinton keeps getting caught with his pants down? Because it's Hillary who wears the pants.

What's the subtle difference difference between Christ and Christo? Christ would like it very much if Oprah got out of the business of walking on water. Christo would like her to stand perfectly still.

On what floor does Antonin Scalia always exit a building? The gun lobby.

On a tangentially related note, if you have never checked out stuffwhitepeoplelike.com, you are missing some serious hilarity. It turns out "Stuff White People Like: The Book" hits bookstores today.

Christo (born as Christo Vladimirov Javacheff, Bulgarian: Христо Явашев) and Jeanne-Claude (born as Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon) are a married couple who create environmental installation art. Their works include the wrapping of the Reichstag in Berlin and the Pont Neuf bridge in Paris, the 24-mile-long curtain called Running Fence in Marin and Sonoma counties in California, and most recently The Gates in New York City's Central Park.

Coincidentally Christo and Jeanne-Claude were born on the exact same date - 13 June 1935.

Although their work is visually impressive and often controversial as a result of its scale, the artists have repeatedly denied that their projects contain any deeper meaning than their immediate aesthetic. The purpose of their art, they contend, is simply to make the world a "more beautiful place" or to create new ways of seeing familiar landscapes. Art critic David Bourdon has described Christo's wrappings as a "revelation through concealment."

Christo and Jeanne-Claude, born Christo Vladimirov Javacheff and Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon respectively, are a married couple who collaborate in creating environmental installation art. Their works, all credited under the name Christo and Jeanne-Claude, are massive and visually magnificent projects.

Although their art is largely controversial due to their size and scale, Christo and Jeanne-Claude insist that their art does not contain a hidden message or agenda. Their aim for their art, they said, is to present a different way of looking at landscapes that have become familiar to the general populace, as well as to make the world look more beautiful. Christo and Jeanne-Claude's work was described by art critic David Bourdon as "revelation through concealment."

The first project undertaken by the couple was Dockside Packages, done at Cologne Harbor in 1961. It was a temporary artwork that involved stacking barrels and covering them with cloth. The exhibition of Dockside Packages lasted for two weeks and happened simultaneously with an exhibition at Haro Lauhus Gallery, also in Cologne.

After Dockside Packages, Christo and Jeanne-Claude became involved in various outdoor wrapping projects. Among these notable projects are:

The Air Package they created for Documenta 4 in Kassel, Germany in 1968, which is an inflated structure erected without a skeleton. It was the largest structure ever created thus.

Me explico.

The mafia graveyard also known as the East River will now have more for New Yorkers to gaze at than snitches and trash. Artist Olafur Eliasson is set to install four waterfalls (one under the Brooklyn Bride) that will start gushing as soon as July 2008. The projects $15 million price tag was privately funded through donations to the New York Public Art Fund. The city is expecting to make a little loot (good ol' tourist dollars) from this project to the tune of $55 million, hoping to repeat the financial success of Christo's and Jean Claude's "The Gates" in Central Park back in 2005. These waterfalls will accompany the artists retrospective show named "Take Your Time" being held at MoMA and PS1 during the same time. I really hope these things have filters, because the last thing I want to see is the contents of the East River being shot out of a 60 foot tower.

Also: Reinhörn!
PS :La Ritournelle = Der Bänkelsang
