This image was so unbelievable, I felt the need to post it! The 28-year-old driver was apparently drunk and fell asleep when he crashed into the race along a highway near the U.S.-Mexico border, killing one and injuring 10 others. Crazy!

On a serious note, my family was involved in a car wreck yesterday when we were involved in a hit and run by a drunk driver. Luckily, the driver was arrested and our family is fine. We are VERY thankful that God watched over us and allowed us mercy in what could have been a much worse accident. Please pray for us as we adjust to the unconvenient situation. We also pray that the driver will find Jesus and His salvation during this situation. PRAISE JESUS!

Friday night, after much debate, we surrender to the inevitable: We go to Graham. As we wander around the floors bitching to each other about how much we don't want to be here, our night suddenly looks up when we bop up to the roof and see a gorgeous scene guy getting on the elevator (thus earning him the not-so-creative nickname of The Elevator Babe). Much to our delight, we find out there's a Battle of the Bands going on and he is the lead singer of the first band.

We plop ourselves down at a table by the bar and are soon approached by a [wasted] bachelor party. These fine chaps proceed to buy us round after round of shots until Katelin and I are both drunk. They finally stumble away and The Girls and I are left to drool over The Elevator Babe as he writhes around on the floor during his set.

Well, lucky us, we're approached by some of the band members after they come off stage, saying they wish they were having an after party that night, cuz they want to hang out with us. One thing leads to another and we spend the next couple hours with these guys, having quite a good time. Except for when Katelin had to ward off Fatsy Cline (guitarist?) ... and when I stupidly push The Elevator Babe away when he starts running his hands all over my stomach (Why? WHY?)

But those mishaps were nothing to what came next. We leave the bar and decide we MUST have J in the B. No, wait.... Taco Bell. And this small change in food cravings changed my life.

I totaled my car. My beloved Celica, who I've had since I was 15. Who I am ridiculously attached to.

And the story is laaaame.

I hit a curb.

At apparently just the right angle and speed, because the car starts making horrible screetchy noises, begins leaking oil everywhere, won't change gears and eventually dies. And will only roll backwards. So for the next 15 minutes, we take turns holding the brake petal down until The Cool Chaps come to rescue us.

So, here we are, all of us but 1 are wasted, in the middle of West End, at 2 o'clock in the morning - The Cool Chap steering the car, hair waving in the breeze behind him. The rest of us pushing the car, dying of laughter, slipping in the oil, loosing our shoes. It was a hysterical sight, I'm sure.

So, RIP to my poor car and to the potential of the rest of the night. I think I'm the only person in the world who could have totaled their car by hitting a curb....

With an ever increasing number of vehicles on the road, motor vehicle accidents still occur with ala

With an ever increasing number of vehicles on the road, motor vehicle accidents still occur with alarming frequency. Factors such as alcohol may aggravate the situation. However, many states have passed tougher drunk driving laws. As a result, many lives may have been spared.

Both Federal and state regulations govern trucking industries. Because of their size, crashes involving trucks are more likely to result in serious injury and death than are car crashes. Unfortunately, some of those injured in a truck crash will die. On the other hand, trucks are more likely to be involved in multiple-vehicle crashes than are passenger cars, which may create questions on liability.

It is important to know that trucking companies are required to keep records of safety equipment and driver hours and it will be necessary to find and research such records. Poor equipment and driver fatigue can be causes of such crashes, and a careful study of the trucking company records may be needed to determine if negligence has occurred.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that "every 10 seconds someone in the United States is involved in a car or truck accident." Every year, millions of people are injured in motor vehicle accidents. Conversely, motor vehicle accidents, according to a study, are the leading cause of injury in the United States for people ages 1-34. A high percentage of traffic crashes and deaths involve trucks.

Our law firm is dedicated to representing seriously injured car and truck accident victims in the San Antonio and Bexar County area, whether the accident was caused by some one’s negligence or a product defect such as defective manufacturing or factory defective design.

If you have been seriously injured by a car or truck accident, please contact The Baez Law Firm, P.C.
In the mid eighties, the British government asked scientists to calculate the likelihood people would die from various causes. The study was meant to convince people nuclear power was safe, and there were many ways to die that were statistically more common. Along the way, the scientists came to some interesting conclusions about how people the world over kick the bucket:

An asteroid kills one person every 7,000 years. Imagine being that unlucky.

You have a 1 in 300 million chance of getting killed by a shark, or die in a fairground accident. Go ahead, that roller coaster is super safe!

The odds of getting killed by a falling coconut are slightly bigger: 1 in 250 million. Unless you live in Finland, then it's 1 in 3,897,546,999,056,000.

Chances of dying in a plane crash: 1 in 11 million, although those odds go way down when you don’t fly.

Getting killed by lightning: 1 in 10 million. Those are the same odds as getting killed by escaped radiation from a nuclear reactor. Except if you live near Chernobyl.

Dying in a terrorist attack: 1 in 9.3 million.

Burnt by hot water: 1 in 5 million.

1 in 4.4 million: chance of a left-handed person dying from using a right-handed product.

1 in 3.5 million: snakebite.

1 in 3 million: food poisoning.

1 in 2 million: falling off a ladder.

1 in 685,000: drowning in the bathtub.

1 in 500,000: dying in a train wreck.

1 in 43,500: getting killed during work. Worse odds if your last name is Pastorelli and you live in Jersey.

1 in 8,000: dying in a car wreck.

Dying from cancer: 1 in 5, while dying from a heart attack carries even worse odds: 1 in 2.5.

My sister's husband's sister was killed yesterday morning. She was driving to work and another driver crossed over the concrete median and struck her head-on. It was in town so their speeds were not high. She was in a SUV; he was in a full size pickup. She was DOA at the hospital; he will live.
Hers was a death which should not have happened. Her death was undeserved and unexpected. We are want to ask why? And what if?
Why her? Why at this time? Why in this manner?
What if she had left home just a little sooner? Or a little later?
We know that we are temporal beings and none of us have any guaranty that we will live to see tomorrow. We know that bad things happen to good people and that bad things happen to bad people.
As much as any of us can be considered to be good, my sister's sister-in-law was good. But more importantly she was redeemed. She has now joined those who have gone on before us. Those like my grandparents, and my father, and my aunt and uncle, and several of my friends.
We are grieved at her passing but we are also gratified to know that we have the promise of being able to one day see her again.

HUGH HEFNER WANTS MILEY CYRUS FOR PLAYBOY

Hugh Hefner has decided that Miley Cyrus would look good gracing the pages of Playboy. When she's of legal age of course. He thinks she would be perfect for a pictorial. Says Hef: "Sure, she’d be welcomed in the magazine. Very pretty lady. And I think to make such a big to-do over something as innocent as those [Vanity Fair] photos, I think is a reflection on how schizophrenic America is about sexuality." I think the whole thing has gotten creepy. Miley is turning out to be a 15-year old sex symbol. Definately creepy. It adds a new dimension to playmate of the month.

KHARMA AND LAWSUITS KEEP HAUNTING MICHAEL VICK

A judge just ordered Michael Vick to pay $2.4 million to a Canadian bank for a loan he defaulted on. The former Atlanta Falcon is also required to pay $499 in interest per day and the banks attorney's fees totalling nearly $12,000. Michael, you had it made and threw it all away. What goes around comes around. It's Kharma baby! By the way, how's quarterbacking that prison team working out for you?

EVER HAVE A REALLY BAD DAY?

Justin Hill was turning into his driveway and he ran into a car. His wife heard the crash and ran outside to see what it was all about leaving the stove going and the dinner on. Hill was hauled to the hospital as his house went up in flames. Then he was given the traffic ticket for failure to yield the right of way. Talk about insult to injury. It wasn't even Friday the 13th.

SKULL BONG

Three teens in Texas have dug up a skull from an old grave and converted it into a marijuana bong. Kevin Wade Jones, Mathew and Richard Gonzales, all 17, dug up the grave of an 11 year old boy from 1921 in an abandoned cemetery, near Humble, Texas. They then took the skull and converted it into a pot bong. That's just plain bad JuJu boys. The trio is being charged with corpse abuse. OK, I grew up in the 60's, I've been stoned and in a cemetery, but it would never have occurred to me to "Hey man, let's dig up some kid and make a bong out of his head." I know I wouldn't have been jumping on that bandwagon. I'm not usually a proponent of psychiatrists, but I'm making an exception in this case.

The theme this time around was a Marketing/Advertising Campaign.

This is my finished design

The idea is the inside of a car after a accident, caused by a oncoming drunk driver. This is the passenger side (my car 2000 Chevy Impala), with the glove box opened and its contents scattered all over the seat and floor. The neat thing is that the photos fell in perfect form and were nearly unharmed by the wreck and flames. Each picture shows a different scene of loss. In one we see that Kevin Garnett of the Celtics is missing, another shows a camp director (Fred Conley of Ice creek missionary baptist in Southern Ohio), another shows a missing preacher, another two show friend and finally a mother. Oh there clothes are still in place but they are missing. The action of a drunk driver caused futures to be erased.

You can see these invisible people on my other post, Some invisible people.

So, we'll start with today. I picked up Collins, and headed to school. Collins told me a fast way to get there and I took it, I turned down some neighborhood streets and came around a car and started going to the street across from it, when I hit another car on the edge. The other car spun at least three times into a yard and I parked, ran out, and noticed the front of a car on the ground. I thought it was hers so I kept going. I got to her car and asked if she was alright. She was sobbing. A policeman had just seen it and was right there. I gave her my license and stuff and went back to my car. I refused to cry because Collins was there but as soon as I had to call my parents my stomach knotted up into a tight mess. My dad answered and I told him where I was.. he was there in about 20 minutes. As I expected he was mad but I didn't expect him to ignore me. He didn't say one word while Collins and I picked up the remains of my car. The front I had seen earlier was mine. We hauled it to my car and stuffed in the back seat. I kept one thing from the wreck, the VW emblem from the front that was in the middle of the road, and put it on a chain. I saw it towed away and got in the car with my mom and Collins. I finished my school day out and had a few friends to really care. I wasn't so upset that my car was wrecked, it can be fixed. I'm upset that I'm the reason she was crying. I'm the reason she was spun around. I never thought so many people could be jerks though let me tell you that. People have no heart. Except for a few. Anyways. I thought I'd update everyone about that. So there ya go. I won't be out of the house for quite a while..

This makes me sick.

This crazy crash looks intense from the police dashboard cam. Unsafe police chase? maybe?

The chased driver hits the van, which smashes into the truck next to it. The van really does look crushed.

I get so angry when I see these types of police chases. There is zero reason to get motorists killed over having to chase some dumb fool who just bought some weed or whatever. It's even worse when they do it over a DUI (DWI)... the fool is already drunk, so lets chase him and get him going even faster.

What is so hard about following in a helicopter or getting the plate and arresting them later? Maybe cops gotta have fun too and the chase gives them a rush? too bad 100's of people die every year due to their need for excitement.
my 2 cents.

Last week (two Saturdays ago), Robin, Nisha, and I took on Twist in South Beach. On the way to the clubhouse we saw a dead homeless man.

Two men prodded and shook the wino. Clubbers watched and whispered.

The two men eventually prompted the wino up against the wall. In that position, he appeared to have fallen asleep begging. Cept, he wasn't breathing of course.

At the clubhouse we ran into Pusilla. Pusilla is one of the club's staple drag queens. She had a blown horn.

Robin and Nisha also found a sponsor -- an overly friendly UM-dropout who bought them drinks.
After 3 the clubhouse became unbearably crowded. So we went home and avoided the bands of thugs who can't really get into clubs so they sit along Washington and shout vulgar things at girls.

I warned Robin and Nisha that I see a nasty car wreck every time I come back from the Beach on a weekend. To illustrate my point, we saw two (probably fatal) car accidents on the way home.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is an extension of car insurance available in Texas, which covers medical expenses and, in some cases, lost wages and other damages. PIP pays off regardless of who is at fault and is mandatory in some states, especially those with no-fault laws. PIP coverage may vary from state to state.

PIP can cover within the specified limits, the medical, hospital and funeral expenses of the insured, others in his vehicles and pedestrians struck by him. The basic coverage for the insured's own injuries on a first-party basis, without regard to fault. It is only available in certain states.

Personal injury protection insurance is an option that you can purchase when you buy automobile insurance. PIP pays for your medical expenses and your lost wages when you’re in a car accident or wreck. PIP has two important features. First, there is no subrogation interest; unlike health insurance, if you submit bills to your PIP carrier, you do not have to reimburse the PIP carrier for amounts paid when you receive a verdict or settlement that includes the same bills. And second, you can submit bills to your PIP carrier even if the bills have been paid by your health insurance.

If you have been injured in an accident, we can help. The Báez Law Firm, P.C. is here to protect your legal needs.

The winter wind roared outside Jacobson’s car like a mad television's white noise. Even at his reduced speed, visibility was virtually nonexistent and the duty of the wiper blades were pitifully inadequate at best. That was the thing about Ohio, if you didn’t like the weather... wait a few minutes. Jacobson was hoping those few minutes would soon be up.

He thought back to the afternoon with Virginia, his ex-wife. They had discussed restructuring Jacobson’s visitation right’s with his daughter, Alicia. What had started out as a civil meeting had quickly escalated into the tired out routine of veiled threats and backhanded innuendoes. He had left with little accomplished, his return drive from his ex-wife’s retreat to the boondocks made even less pleasant by the sudden blizzard.

Still aggravated, he took his eyes off the road just long enough to try and crank up the heater a bit farther. Long enough to miss the massive form that appeared before his lights. Long enough, so that when Jacobson looked up, he was almost upon it.

Swerving, he spun the car as he slammed onto the brakes, his car sliding hard into a snow filled ditch on the side of the county state route. Jacobson sat absolutely still for a moment. Then, once he realized he was fine, the anger erupted inside him. It was the same anger that had cost him his marriage, but he would never acknowledge that. All Jacobson knew at this moment was that some fool had wandered out in a snow storm, into the road and caused him to have an accident. Jacobson flung open his door and climbed out, unconcerned about the possibilities.

He had not got a good look at the person who had caused him to wreck, not really seen the individual standing in the blizzard with arms outstretched. Jacobson did now. He did now, and the anger that had fueled his movements chilled as surely as the air that surrounded him.

“Ah, such rage,” Jacobson heard it speak. “Such rage makes me feel alive.”

Jacobson stood there in the biting wind, the snow still obscuring the most of his view. For that he was grateful. For that, he thanked God.

“God? Oh, I could tell you tales of the heavens above and the depths below.”

Stammering something incoherent, Jacobson began to take a step back. This was not a man. It was too large, too dark, too... something else. Some word that the English language didn’t have, that no human had been tainted enough to think up. With a single step back, that before him took two forward.

Jacobson felt his bowels release.

“Let me tell you about that which you will understand. About atrocities, desecrations and other wonders. Let me whisper secrets to you about the what lies in the cold wind.”

Before Jacobson could move, before he could think...

... and such secrets they were.

I have never considered myself as a writer and I never had any real interest about writing. It is ironic for me to write an online journal. However, heeding my shrink’s advice, I have decided to write this blog as a therapeutic outlet for my stress. Recently, I have been too grumpy at work. I have been easily irritated with the minor mistakes of my employees. Well, I am now going through a rough divorce settlement. Emotionally, I am like an overheated engine ready to explode.

I always felt that I was in control of my life. But now, I have realized that I was wrong. Unlike car racing, maneuvering through life takes more than good reflex reactions. I have been always fond of cars. I particularly like tinkering with the engine. My father was a mechanic and I guess I have inherited his skills. As a teenager, my father bought me my first car. It was a second hand, rag-tag car but it was the greatest car that I ever had. That car took me not only to places but also helped me chase my dreams.

I now own a chain of auto shops, specializing in automobile customization. Although two of my eight shops have been closed due to economic recession, I still manage to earn decent enough income to sustain my passion for extreme sports such as skydiving and car racing. I always loved the adrenalin rush. It was in my skydiving club that I met my wife. We were jump partners that gradually developed into something more. The adrenalin rush triggered by my passion for my wife is more addicting than jumping from a plane. It is more powerful than a turbocharger. But I guess, some things are really not meant to be. If I was a car, I am now a total wreck.

Insane sick street racing accident The headlines said 8 dead but if you count up the bodies of 7 died at the scene and 1 died in the hospital. This happened Saturday in Accokeek, MD at 3:40 AM

This story below really makes me say WTF? I have so many issues with these people who insist on putting unsusspecting drivers at risk just to race in the streets. People at 4AM may be driving home from work, but they should not be driving to their own executions.

Another question is about the people there, one of the witnesses states that her father died because she only had time to grab her child and move out of the way and not her father… again.. WTF!

It is 3:40 AM, why are you idiots having a family picnic in the middle of the freeway with your entire family, kids included. Why would any parent have a child standing in the middle of a freeway at 4 AM?

I have watche Brittney Spears get railroaded for minor offences regarding her children. It makes me sick that no body is even asking why kids are playing in the middle of a highway at 4AM. These people are not victims, they caused the deadly crash by partying in the freeway. I hear about street racing accidents weekly and unfortunately, many times the unknowing driver is the one who dies.

What makes me even sicker, is that these fools are trying to pin the blame on the driver who had no idea people were standing in the freeway or there was street racing going on… again.. WTF?

When will these fools ever learn that racing is done at a track for a reason. I think the police should arrest everyone of the surviving fools and charge them with manslaughter because without the giant “family” crowds at 3:40 AM, there would be no street drag racing.

street racing fatal crash accokeek

ACCOKEEK, Md. - A car plowed into a crowd that had gathered to watch a drag race on a suburban road early Saturday, killing eight people and injuring at least five, police said.

Police said the white sedan was not involved in the street race but accidentally drove into the crowd of about 50 people that had spilled onto the highway to watch two racing cars speed off.

“There were just bodies everywhere; it was horrible,” said Crystal Gaines, 27, whose father was among the dead.

Gaines said she grabbed her child but could not help her father, William Gaines Sr., 61.

“He wasn’t breathing, he wasn’t moving,” she said. “His body was in pieces.” Gaines said the car did not have its lights on, but police could not confirm that.

The white sedan hit people standing on the side of Route 210 around 3:40 a.m., Prince George’s County Police Cpl. Clinton Copeland said. A tractor-trailer that came by shortly afterward may also have struck someone on the road as it tried to avoid the crash, he said.

“It’s probably one of the worst scenes I’ve seen,” Copeland said. “This is a situation that could have been avoided, and it’s a very tragic situation.”

The victims ranged in age from their 20s to 60s, police said. Seven people were pronounced dead at the scene, and an eighth died later at a hospital.

Hours after the accident on the divided highway in Accokeek, bodies covered in white sheets were scattered along what police were calling a 200-yard crime scene. Some were in the road, while others were on the shoulder.

The sedan came to a rest on an embankment about 150 feet from where the crowd had been. It had a crumpled front and hood, and the roof had partially collapsed.

The driver of the white sedan had been interviewed and did not appear to be seriously hurt, Police Capt. Donald Frick said. Police said a body found in the car was one of the spectators and not a passenger as they had previously reported.

The crowd then moved into the road to watch the cars drive away. The combination of the smoke and the dark morning likely meant the driver of the approaching white sedan could not see the crowd. No charges were pending.

So I finally got a job. Yay! It's at a place called Seek Publishing. You know those greeting cards you can get at places like Cracker Barrel that tell you all about what was going on the year you were born? That's the kind of thing Seek publishes. I'll be fielding calls from our business customers regarding discrepancies in their shipments. Which is cool enough.

Also, I had a wreck yesterday. I was part of a 5 car pile-up on the interstate in early morning traffic. Nobody was hurt (my neck is a little sore, but it's nothing really) but I'm pretty sure my car is totaled. I really loved that car. Oh well...

What I'm reading now:

The Warrior-Prophet, The Prince of Nothing, Book 2 by R. Scott Bakker - I'm really getting into this series. If you like the fantasy genre at all you really should hitch your star to this guy's wagon. Great characters, very in-depth plotting, at-a-clip pacing, and no elves or fairies. Seriously, check it out.

The Star Fraction by Ken MacLeod - The first book in a Trotskyist science fiction epic. Socialist hero meets idealistic scientist working on scary memory drugs and goes on the run from an oppressive government. Oh, and there's a libertarian Christian kid in it also. It's chock-full of 4th Internationalist terms and stuff from Collectivism 101 but it's really not bad at all so far. More exciting than I thought it would be actually.

Airbags have been in use for many years now. In fact, some of the major U.S. automobile manufacturers began installing airbags in some of their vehicles in the early 1970s. While they do save lives, airbags can also cause some unforeseen problems. Children riding in the front seat can be seriously injured or killed when an airbag deploys in a crash. An airbag is not a soft, billowy pillow. To do its job, an airbag comes out of the dashboard at up to 200 miles per hour - faster than the blink of an eye. The force of an airbag can hurt those who are too close to it.

Even when one is cautious, airbags can be unforgiving. When a manufacturer designs, produces, or installs an airbag incorrectly, serious injuries and deaths can result. Defective airbags include, but are not limited to, those that deploy with too much force, deploy in minor collisions when they are not otherwise needed, or fail to deploy under circumstances in which they should.

Airbags are designed to save lives in the event of an auto accident. Occasionally, though, an inflated airbag may injure a passenger. Most bags deploy with a tremendous amount of force, thus posing a serious threat to those who sit too closely to them.
