Incluso con sus defectos, que los tiene, the dark knight no es sólo la mejor de las películas basadas en superhéroes hasta la fecha, sino una gran película y punto.

El alter ego de Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) ha eclipsado la oscuridad de la Mafia de Gotham City al tiempo que el fiscal del distrito Hervey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) se ha erigido como el héroe sin máscara que tanto Batman como la ciudad anhelaban. Pero así como después de la tormenta siempre viene la calma, después de la calma siempre viene la tormenta. Y la tormenta se llama The Joker (Heath Ledger) quien promete a la Mafia un nuevo amanecer libre de la sombra del hombre murciélago y pone la ciudad patas arriba a base de sembrar el caos.

A priori una película con The Joker, Hervey Two Faces, The Scarecrow, la Mafia, un chino que se cree el rey del mambo y Batman, huele. Si a esto le añadimos un triángulo amoroso, cierto aire filosófico, persecuciones, encrucijadas, refriegas y más chismes que en todas las películas de James Bond interpretadas por Roger Moore juntas, el proyecto parece condenado a naufragar en el puerto de San Blas, por ejemplo. Pero no, los hermanos Nolan, Jonathan y Christopher, firman un guión que se entretiene lo justo y necesario en todos y cada uno de los ingredientes a su disposición y los hacen bailar a su son. Un guión que satisface por igual a los que se olvidan los sesos en casa y a los que no.

La dirección, que ni decir cabe, está a la altura. A más de uno no le gustará como Jonathan Nolan se enfrenta a los clímaxes del largometraje, a base de collages audiovisuales de todo lo que a la vez acontece. Bien, a mí, personalmente, me encanta.

Chritian Bale encarna de nuevo a Bruce Wayne. Y lo hace con la misma suficiencia que en batman begins (2005). El actor galés se ha convertido ya en el mejor de cuantos se han escondido detrás de la máscara del hombre murciélago y mucho me temo que lo hará una vez más. Cierto es también que el papel en sí no es exigente. Como tampoco lo son los que interpretan Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman y Maggie Gyllenhaal, quien sustituye a Katie Holmes. Todos ellos se bastan con pasearse por la pantalla al son de un excelente guión. Aaron Eckhart, por su parte, vuelve a demostrar que es mucho mejor actor de lo que muchos creen y mezcla con mesura las debilidades y fortalezas de su personaje, hasta hacer comprensible su metamorfosis.

Mención aparte merece Heath Ledger. Su forma de entender The Joker no tiene nada que envidiar a la que en su día nos regaló Jack Nicholson. Sin duda Ledger se alimentó de ella para construir un personaje que permanece. Un personaje que incomoda a la vez que seduce. De ahí que en ocasiones uno se sorprenda buscando amparo en una leve sonrisa tras disfrutar de su presencia, a pesar de lo desagradable de sus consecuencias. The Joker aboga por un mundo en el que las reglas no tienen cabida y Ledger construye su personaje sin ellas. Hace lo que le da la gana con el mal más visceral por bandera y el resultado es, si más no, brillante en una de las entregas menos oscuras de la saga en cuanto a la ambientación.

Una película para ser disfrutada. Un poco exagerado que haya alcanzado el número uno de IMDb el primer fin de semana, pero que le vamos a hacer, semos borregos.

Hay historias que nunca pasan de moda, que no lo hacen porque lo que cuentan se disuelve agradablemente en los sesos de cualquiera. Ese es el caso de kung fu panda, o, si me lo permiten, la enésima versión, esta vez animada, de karate kid (1984). Y digo karate kid, pues para mí, que amanecí en los ochenta, fue la primera. La novedad, que tampoco lo es tanto, es que Daniel Larusso es ahora un panda gigante y Mr. Kesuke Miyagi un panda rojo.

Po es un panda gigante que trabaja como camarero en el restaurante de su padre Mr. Ping, una oca que presume de aderezar sus fideos con un ingrediente secreto. Sin embargo, Po está más por la labor de imaginarse siendo un maestro kung fu que de querer conocer el ingrediente secreto de los fideos de su padre. Por supuesto, sabe tanto kung fu como yo arameo. Pero su vida cambia cuando de la noche a la mañana es accidentalmente señalado por la tortuga Oogway como el elegido. Elegido para convertirse en un guerrero dragón y defender así a su pueblo de la ira del tigre Tai Lung, el más malo entre los malos. Para ello se somete a la tutela de Sifu, un panda rojo.

kung fu panda es sobre todo una película entretenida. Sobre todo, y nada más. El cine de animación ya no es lo que era, y si me preguntan a mí, es ahora mucho más entretenido cuando las cosas se hacen como se deben hacer. Así, la fórmula de kung fu panda funciona porque sus creadores no se complican la vida con marejadas y marejadillas. A veces es tan simple como contar una historia de forma ordenada. Si bien está de moda que el cine de animación flirtee con productos que sin disimular que buscan el reclamo de los más pequeños se emborrachan de sutiles referencias más maduras, kung fu panda se conforma con entretener a los primeros y devolver a los segundos a tiempos pasados.

De Jack Black se pueden decir muchas cosas, algunas buenas, algunas no tanto. Lo cierto es que su voz le viene como anillo al dedo a Po. Se tiende a pensar que cualquiera puede ser un actor de voz, de ahí que en España, por ejemplo, las películas de animación acaben siendo dobladas por humoristas e imitadores. Pues no, es fácil distinguir entre un buen actor de voz y un oportunista.

Una película entretenida llena de referencias al cine de kung fu, a kill bill (2003) y a la filososfía de los pitufos.

Originally written in 1996 by Vincent Ngo hancock has finally made it to the silver screen. After a massive marketing campaign, worthy of any summer blockbuster, and on a holiday weekend that guarantees good box office receipts. This, even if it turns to be a fiasco, as it does after the first half an hour.

hancock's premises are different from every other superhero movie. John Hancock (Will Smith) is a superhero, but he is also a homeless sour drunkard from Los Angeles. Thus, despite of his efforts, people hate him and would like to see him behind bars. But his luck changes when he meets Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), a public relalions spokesperson. Embrey conceives an impeccable plan to make people miss Hancock and turning him into a celebrity. And while the prologue lasts everything works more or less fine, but then, along comes a first twist that feels like a punch in your stomach. And, still a second one to try to explain the first one, that at this point will let most of you frozen.

One feels that after an original beginning the story could have taken many different paths and, seriously, I cannot think about a more ridiculous one. The action scenes are still merely decent even though the villains do not rise to the occasion. Director Peter Berg make them look like clowns. I understand hancock feels close to a comedy but it deserved better. If something, John Powell's score shines, but because of being omnipresent rather than because of its intrinsic quality.

As for the cast, Smith is a good actor and shows his skills while the movie is not yet lost. After that, a donkey could have done his job. As for Bateman and Charlize Theron, yes, the South African beauty is also in it, well, they will not be remembered by it. And my question here is, was it really necessary to have a kid in the story? Anyways, I guess I had high expectations for this one following the many previews I had seen, and, what a surprise, I am certainly deceived.

If you ask me, I would invite you to watch the first half of the movie and imagine your own second half.

naked weapon es, tal y como en su día dijo un sabio, una obra de arte. Pero como en tantas otras ocasiones, y sin ánimo de ofender, la miel no se hizo para la boca del asno. Con esto quiero decir que es necesario ser un iniciado para saber apreciar lo que esta producción made in Hong Kong esconde, de la misma manera que para un estadounidense medio el fútbol son sólo veintidós jugadores pasándose el balón sin ton ni son.

Las películas de kung fu se caracterizan por lo particular de su guión, su interpretación y su coreografía. El guión es lo de menos y muchas veces incluso negativo, aunque eso sí, siempre al servicio del entretenimiento del espectador más exigente, a la par que freak. En naked weapon la excusa es el secuestro de cuarenta niñas menores de quince años por parte de una organización liderada por Madam M. Su objetivo, convertirlas en asesinas, y para ello les enseña artes marciales, además de a manejarse con soltura en la pasarela, la mesa y la cama. Pero sólo puede quedar una, así, el último día de instrucción se convierte en lo más parecido al deporte favorito de Héctor del Mar que ha visto el cine, the marine (2006) y otros experimentos a parte. Sobra decir que las cuarenta niñas se convierten en jóvenes que quitan el hipo. Ni una fea, vamos. Para cuando han sido instruídas se ha esfumado ya media película por lo que la segunda parte se convierte en un mejunje sin sentido del que emerje un malo más malo que Madam M y un policía intentando resolver el caso de las niñas desaparecidas. Pero a quien le importa, digo yo.

De entre el raparto cabe destacar a Maggie Q. Y cabe destacarla no precisamente por sus dotes interpretativas, cuya existencia sigue en duda, aunque sus últimos esfuerzos apuntan a que quizás. Pero que guapa es. Del resto, mejor no hablo.

Las coreografías son fastuosas. No en vano detrás de la cámara se sienta el coreógrafo de películas como hero (2002), house of the flying daggers (2004) y curse of the golden flower (2006). Eso sí, aquí simbolismo, poco. Además de fastuosas son en ocasiones grotescas. Pero es que no se le pueden pedir peras al olmo.  Y es entonces cuando, si uno no es un iniciado y no lo ha hecho antes, mandará la película a freir espárragos.

En fin, una obra de arte, para mí, Malabesta, y unos cuantos, pocos, más. Lo que no tengo muy claro es a quien me estoy refiriendo con lo de obra de arte.

Comenzaré diciendo que wall·e es la película más rica, cuca y mona que se ha estrenado en mucho tiempo. Tanto, que a más de uno puede resultarle más empalagosa que una sobredosis de azúcar. Y una vez dicho esto continuaré diciendo que wall·e es una gran película, pues de vez en cuando, a todo el mundo le apetece una fondue de chocolate. A mí, por ejemplo, me espera una mañana.

¿Qué pasaría si la raza humana se viera obligada a evacuar el planeta Tierra? Pues podría pasar lo que en la película se nos cuenta. Wall·e es el último de los compactadores de basura que queda sobre la faz del planeta Tierra. Su misión, compactar la basura que acabó por condenar a la raza humana al exilio a bordo de una estación espacial. Así, pasa los días compactando basura, recolectando objetos curiosos y anhelando la compañía del amor que nunca conoció. Robot, pero con sentimientos por supuesto. Su vida cambia cuando Eve llega al planeta Tierra en busca de una prueba que permita a la raza humana considerar su regreso. Y entonces, el amor. El amor y todo lo demás.

Detrás de este embolado está Andrew Stanton. ¿Y quién es Andrew Stanton? Stanton, además de debutar en la dirección con finding nemo (2003), lleva varios años escribiendo guiones animados y es el responsable de, entre otros, el guión de toy story (1995) y su secuela. Y esto para decir que sabe lo que hace. Hace ya más de diez años que las aventuras de Woody y Buzz Lightyear redefinieron el cine de animación.

El guión de Stanton resulta brillante y sabe mezclar los elementos básicos de un producto destinado a un público que todavía mastica con dientes de leche con un fondo más pesado. Fondo que cuenta no sólo con las obvias connotaciones ecologistas sino también con una crítica abierta a un estilo de vida que acabará por condenarnos a nuestros sillones más preciados. Resulta también interesante la interacción entre la pareja protagonista por la lógica frialdad de ella, más próxima a la actitud cuadricualda que uno esperaría en un robot. Además, no faltan inteligentes guiños a otras películas como 2001: a space odyssey (1968 ), alien (1979) y titanic (1997). Y a nadie se le escapa que el protagonista es una interpretación libre y reducida de Número 5.

En este caso, aunque no siempre, el orden de los factores no altera el producto y el resultado final está perfectamente equilibrado, aunque uno no debe nunca olvidar que se encuentra ante una historia de amor para niños.

Desde que se estrenara, con un éxito para muchos impredecible, crash (2004) parece que las películas en las que no tirar de la cadena del inodoro puede poner patas arriba la vida de un desconocido se han puesto de moda. Y por ello, the air i breathe no tiene nada de nuevo. Es un ejemplo más de largometraje caracterizado por lidiar con las vidas cruzadas de sus personajes.

Por un lado tenemos a Happiness (Forest Whitaker) dispuesto a cambiar su vida en una casa de apuestas. Cambiarla, lo que se dice cambiarla, la cambia. Por otro lado tenemos a Pleasure (Brendan Fraser), el guardaespaldas del maquiavélico dueño de la casa de apuestas que de la noche a la mañana pierde el don que dios le dio, que no es otro que el de ver el futuro. Sorrow (Sarah Michelle Gellar) es una cantante emergente que sonríe con los labios pero no con los ojos. Y, por último, Love (Kevin Bacon) es un médico enamorado de la mujer de su mejor amigo y el único que puede salvarla de la mortal mordedura de una serpiente. La película se divide en cuatro partes. Adivinen. Sí, Happiness, Pleasure, Sorrow y Love.

Lo cierto es que el producto final, sin brillar, destella decencia. Además es la primera película de Jiehoo Lee, famoso en su casa a la hora de comer. El guión lo firma también Lee, aunque lo hace junto a otro primerizo, Bob DeRosa. Y peca de lo que pecan muchas de estas historias. Algunas llegan mientras la mayoría se quedan a medias. Así, mientras Happiness y Pleasure enganchan, Sorrow y Love se quedan en el intento. Tanto como yo mismo. Que todavía no consigo descodificar lo que esconde la película, pues con tanta metáfora seguro que esconde algo.

Aunque, lo peor de una película con tantas tramas relevante es que tiende a requerir un sinfín de secundarios de lujo. Personajes principales no hay. Pero que sean de lujo no quiere decir que estén a la altura. Así, pese a la excelencia de Whitaker, Gellar está más perdida que José Luis Cantero en Melrose Place. Cabe destacar que Fraser cuanto ménos cómico, mejor.

Estoy seguro de que le lloveran adeptos porque tiene ingredientes para ello. Aunque como un buen amigo mío dice, los ingredientes no lo son todo.

¿Era necesaria otra película sobre el alter ego de Bruce Banner después del infravalorado experimento de Ang Lee hace ya cinco años? Pues sí y no. No, porque una nueva versión cinco años después se antoja demasiado pronto, sobre todo viniendo ambas de Hollywood. Sí, porque si tienen pensado explotar el personaje en el futuro, no está de más distanciarse del trascendentalismo de Lee.

Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) tras sufrir un accidente en el que su cuerpo resulta bombardeado con rayos gamma se convierte en un fugitivo del ejercito de los Estados Unidos de América. Como consecuencia del incidente Banner sufre episodios de cólera en los que se convierte en Hulk. Mientras Banner intenta buscar una cura a su condición, el General Thaddeus Ross (William Hurt) desea convertirla en un arma de guerra.

the incredible hulk sería mucho mejor si hulk (2003) nunca se hubiera estrenado, pero aún así no está a la altura de, por ejemplo, la reciente adaptacion del alter ego de Tony Stark. Y no lo está porque en muchos momentos no se sabe a que juega. La película de Louis Leterrier es una película de acción que no sabe desenvolverse bien fuera de ella, lo que estira innecesariamente sus casi dos horas de duración. A veces uno se pregunta cuando el gran público se cansará de una espectacularidad que cada vez es menos. Por saturación.

El reparto está a la altura de las circunstancias que no es mucha. No es ésta una película para examinar ni a Edward Norton, ni a William Hurt, ni a Liv Tyler, que interpreta a la novia del primero e hija del segundo, ni a Tim Roth, que interpreta al malo malísimo. Mediocres en una película en mediocre. Quizás sea Roth el mejor parado dada la poca profundidad del personaje de Norton. Poca si uno la compara con la del personaje de Eric Bana.

Si algo se agradece es la metamorfosis de Hulk, ahora mucho más sucio y mucho menos verde. De agradecer es también ver de nuevo a Lou Ferrigno.

En fin, una adaptación más, sin más. Entretenida, pero no pasará a la historia y, probablemente, sólo se recordará el breve epílogo que sirve para sentar las bases de the avengers (2011).

I get in the cinema when the lights are still on, but it is already full. Full of dresses up girls. I take some time to count how many boys are about to witness the show. Overall, there are six, a gay couple, three long faced boyfriends, and me. I sit and wait. Definitely, I am going to watch sex and the city.

Many TV series have been adapted to the silver screen recently. Almost unnoticed I must say. I am not a big fan of TV shows turned into feature movies but I always end watching them. I am actually looking forward to the a team (2009). But now is the turn for sex and the city. I was never a big fan of the TV series but I somehow managed to watched them all. A show made entirely for women that caught my eye. Good enough to keep me distracted for half an hour.

Things started where they were left when the TV series ended in 2004 after six successful seasons. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Mr. Big (Chris Noth) are about to get married, Samantha (Kim Cattrall) lives in Los Angeles with his young good looking boyfriend, Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is a happy mother, and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Steve (David Eigenberg) are an unadventurous married couple. No need to say that for almost two hours and a half the story will mess up with their lives in order to hopefully deliver four happy endings. And do not worry if you do not know anything about them, the epilogue is long enough to remind you who they are.

Firts of all, it is long, too long. Even if you were a fan of the TV series. Second of all, it is both faithful to the essence of the original and full of all the clichés you expect in every single romantic comedy. Everything turns around a stupid misunderstanding that might not deserve so much racket but it is needed to justify a feature movie. But, anyways, the superficial jokes are still there, so the sarcasm, and, of course, the sex. Be ready for a couple of red shots. There is even a poop joke.

As for the cast, as good or bad as they have always been. I would say good, since they are so used to their characters that one starts to see them as those rather that as themselves. I mean, I am not able to see Sarah anymore, whenever I see her in another movie I just see Carrie. Is that wrong? Interestingly, the other three have not had that much of a presence in other movies.

Overall an interesting adaptation if (i) you are a woman, (ii) you were a fan of the TV series, and (iii) you are all about romantic comedies. If you are none of the above you can still enjoy the ride, but just not that much.

Nineteen years later the hero is back. We have waited long, too long maybe, for the archaeologist to come back after Steven Spielberg and George Lucas saw, and explode, his potential back in the eighties. No less than three adventures in a decade. The hero is now older, the hat and the whip stay the same, what about everything else?

Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is force to help Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett) and her Russian army find an extraterrestrial creature with a mysterious crystal skeleton in a military base in the Nevada dessert. Once back in the Marshall College Jones is contacted by Mutt Williams (Shia LeBouf) who tells him Harold Oxley (John Hurt), and old colleague of Jones, has disappeared after discovering a crystal skull in Peru. No need to explain what follows.

No matter how long ago it was when the first adventure was released, the formula is still the same. The good guys spend the whole movie getting away, either from the bad guys or random dangers. It still is about getaways, one after the other, it has always been. Truth is, in nineteen years, they have had the time to think about them and by means of nowadays special effects it is easier to translate those ideas into the silver screen.

There is a big but, though. The script is cheesy and childish. Sometimes one feels the characters keep explaining what is going on so every single child watching the movie gets it. I said cheesy too. You better learn by yourself, but with Jones' true love around, it is not difficult to imagine the story takes that direction. Also, what is with all the cute computer animated animals?

Nevertheless, in my opinion, the experience survives those details. It does because one is there for the fun, and the fun is indeed there. As for the cast, Ford is older but still able to move around gracefully, Blanchett is more than good as evil Spalko, and LeBouf builds a character that might have the potential to take over his father (I do not think I am saying anything you do not know) in the future, just not yet.

All in all, I cannot think of a reason indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull is not a good way to spend around two hours of your life. It delivers the fun, plus if you are a real fan, it is filled with references to the previous adventures, some obvious, some not.

Hacía tiempo que tenía ganas de enfrentarme de nuevo a una de las primeras películas de Joe Dante. El guión es de Chris Columbus, también primerizo por entonces. Y el bueno de Steven Spielberg en la producción. Garantía de éxito, desde luego, a priori. Aunque no lo fue tanto y eso que recuerdo pocas películas de horror tan sinvergüenzas. Eso sí, el recuerdo en este caso es mejor que la realidad y un segundo visionado le deja a uno con una sensación diferente, aunque también una sonrisa.

Para aquellos que no sepan nada de la hisoria, ahí va un pequeño resumen. Randall Peltzer (Hoyt Axton) es un inventor de poco monta que se deja seducir por la criatura más cuca que uno pueda imaginarse en el barrio chino de la ciudad de Nueva York. Así decide regalársela a su hijo. Eso sí, para gozar de la misma deberá seguir tres simples normas: no a la luz del Sol, no a comer después de la medianoche, y no al agua. No hace falta ser muy inteligente para predecir que a pesar de su simplicidad lo contrario va a pasar.

Hace tiempo que no se hacen películas del estilo de gremlins. Hoy por hoy parece que si los monstruos no gozan de cierta seriedad no merecen estar en pantalla. Y esto da a lugar a largometrajes infumables pues no siempre es posible dotarlos de esa seriedad sin aburrir. Cierto es también que la fórmula nunca fue repetida con éxito y se convirtió en un icono de la serie B. ¿Alguien recuerda critters (1986)? ¿gremlins 2: the new batch (1990)?

La película es de lo más simple que uno se pueda imaginar y se sustenta en en lo previsible de un argumento cargado de ironía inofensiva y en lo adorable de Gizmo, el primero de los mogwais. A parte de eso, poco más. Sustos pocos y horror, lo que se dice horror, ninguno. Te arrancará un par de carcajadas, pero poco más. Gustará más a quienes la vieron cuando se estrenó, pero sobre todo por el factor nostálgico.

En fin, una película para ver con quienes la viste hace ya unos cuantos años. Si no la has visto ya, pues tampoco te pierdes nada del otro mundo.

Those who know Chinese director Kar Wai Wong know how he likes to carefully take care of every single shot he fits in his movies. The suggestive in the mood for love (2000) and the melancholic 2046 (2004) are good recent examples of his meticulous care. my blueberry nights is no different to those on that sense and many will see it as a collection of beautiful shots that fail to build the story within. That is probably what, according to the reviews that followed, attendants to the screening of the opening film of the 60th Cannes Film Festival thought. I, respectfully, disagree.

Elizabeth's (Norah Jones) boyfriend has left her for another woman. Heartbroken, she decides to start a cross country soul-searching journey around America that starts at Jeremy's (Jude Law) little cozy café in New York City among blueberry pies and ice-cream. Along the way she meets random ordinary people that will help her find her way back to herself.

First of all, Norah Jones. She is an excellent singer and songwriter. That is a fact and we knew before my blueberry nights. News are she turns to be also as good as an actress as her character demanded her to be. Nevertheless, it is not her character the most demanding, even though is the one everything evolves around. Rachel Weisz and David Starhairn, who play a separated couple Elizabeth meets in Memphis, stand out among the cast on that sense. Natalie Portman, who also plays a secondary role, does not sing out of tone and Jude Law is cute, I mean, really cute.

Kar Wai Kong shots the movie through glass. A window, a bar, a mirror, anything transparent enough. He also keeps hiding the camera behind random inanimate objects as if he was spying on the characters. While some might find this annoying, I find it both poetic and meaningful. We witness the events rather than seeing them, thus turning us into an important part of the story. Pauses are also really important, pauses that are always filled with shots that make one feel, those who are not yawning. I would even say that most of the story is told by the way it is captured by the Chinese director rather than by the script itself, which is not that original.

A beautiful movie for the many followers of Kar Wai Kong that, as usual, will deceive the rest.

Están de moda las películas de perdedores. Y no me refiero a perdedores en general, me refiero a esos perdedores que lo son porque se pasan la vida haciendo algo que no les hace felices. ¿Qué es la felicidad? bill es otra película con un perdedor como protagonista, como lo fue en su día por ejemplo american beauty (1999), o más recientemente he was a quiet man (2007). Este tipo de personajes se prestan a situaciones cómicas y dramáticas por igual, además de ser útiles a la hora de hablar de lo infelices que podemos llegar a ser si nos dejamos arrastrar por la inercia. Por supuesto hay siempre un punto de inflexión que será el principio del fin de la agonía del protagonista.

Bill (Aaron Eckhart) vive una vida patética junto a su adultera mujer y bajo las órdenes de su suegro en un banco en el que es enteramente prescindible. Todo cambia cuando decide pasar las tardes con un adolescente rebelde. El principio del fin de la agonía al que hacía referencia antes. Todo esto aderezado con como Bill hace frente patéticamente al idilio de su mujer con un periodista local.

La película les sirve a los debutantes Bernie Goldman y Melissa Wallack para prometer durante los primeros minutos y caer en lo convencional después. Lo cierto es que es cada vez más difícil sorprender con una historia así, por lo manido del asunto recientemente. A pesar de todo, Wallack, que además de codirigir firma el guión, apunta maneras a pesar de algunas lagunas que se le acaban por perdonar. Por lo menos le queda a uno la sensación de que nunca huye de ellas y les hace frente con soltura.

Aaron Eckhart está lejos de su mejor versión y se pasa la película poniendo cara de tonto mientras se mira una incipiente barriga. Aún así, le sirve para estar a años luz del resto, entre los que se encuentran Jessica Alba, bonita pero del todo prescindible, y el joven Logan Lerman, al que hemos visto recientemente en 3:10 to yuma (2007).

Alguna sonrisa sí te arrancará, pero estamos ante una propuesta que pasará sin pena ni gloria por este mundo en el que vivimos. Un mundo, por cierto, lleno de individuos parecidos a Bill, más de lo que a muchos les gustaría. O sea, el mensaje, si alguno, es bastante evidente y equivalente en poder de sugestión al de cualquier galleta de la suerte.

Movies that are based on comic books are on fashion these days. Mostly, because they seem to be profitable enough. Truth is, most of them are just about that and forget about the essence of the stories they tell. Thus, after the initial hype they are forever forgotten. Does anyone remember daredevil (2003), the punisher (2004)? I could keep going, but I will not. Even those who manage to stay in our memory are not more than ephemeral entertainment. Good entertainment, but far from providing anything else, which on the other hand they do not have to. batman begins (2005) might be an exception. All this to say that iron man is one of the latter, good entertainment and nothing else.

Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is an eccentric industrialist who only cares about the effectiveness of the weapons his company provides to gain peace in the world by means of war, and how to spend his ridiculous fortune. This is until he is captured in Afghanistan by mercenaries who use his very own weapons. To scape he builds an armor. An armor that once back at home and after a severe tuning process turns Stark into his alter ego, Iron Man.

Downey Jr. is perfect as Stark. It is like he was playing himself. Yes, that comfortable he seems playing the role. Unfortunately, he lacks chemistry with Gwyneth Paltrow, who plays Pepper Potts. Terrence Howard and Jeff Bridges are symbolic. Specially the latter, whose metamorphosis deserved more attention. But Downey Jr. is able to fill the screen with his presence and it is not that annoying that he does pretty much all the time. I do not think they needed that much time to show us how Stark learns how to fly, though.

Visually, yes, it is what one would expect, spectacular. If you like heavy metal you will enjoy also some of the tunes that liven up the action. Action that mixes well with the humor. Jon Favreau, who is not known for his career as a director, does a good job at mixing all the ingredients of this comic book adaptation. An adaptation that is more an introduction to the characters than anything else. As if they were already thinking about the sequel before releasing it. Of course it was going to work on the box office.

All in all, pure entertainment, with the plus that stands slightly out among comic book adaptations.

And yet another romantic comedy.

Tom (Patrick Dempsey) is a ladies man. He, following a strict set of rules, moves from one lady to another without ever looking back. But there is one that is always there, his best friend Hannah (Michelle Monaghan). His life teeters when she leaves for Scotland for a few weeks and comes back to get married to a Scottish duke and have Tom being her maid of honor.

Everything this romantic comedy has to offer happens at the beginning. It is not that it has nothing to offer after a while, but as the story develops becomes more predictable. Nevertheless, the inertia achieved during the first minutes is enough to keep things rolling.

Dempsey and Monaghan are both as good as one might expect, being the former the one that carries most of the weight. It is his character's indecisions the ones that makes things happen. Usually, these roles are always played by females. Truth is, males are less tough than most pretend to be and many will see something about themselves in Dempsey's character.

Paul Weiland, whose work is almost limited to collaborations with English comedian Roward Atkinson will not surprise anyone with his directing skills. He merely translates into the screen a script that has already nothing new to offer, other than the guy's perspective. Nevertheless, that is not necessarily wrong, since it can still provide non pretentious amusement. Towards the end, things get a little bit ridiculous, but most will forgive it by means of the happy ending.

All in all, a movie that is not intended to change your life but it is easy to digest and better with company.

Have you ever been dumped? If you have, this is the movie you are looking for. This does not mean that you need to have had your heart broken to enjoy the movie, but if you have, the movie will turn your notches into laughs by means of every single cliché you can think about. Do not expect therefore to be surprised by the plot, which you can figure out right from the beginning. You will, though, by how different things look like when watched on the screen.

Television star Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell) breaks up with composer Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) after a five years relationship. To heal, broken hearted Peter takes an impulsive trip to Hawaii, only to discover that he will be staying at the same resort Sarah is staying with her new boyfriend, rocker Aldous (Russell Brand).

Everything Jude Apatow touches these days turns into laughs. The writer and director of the 40 year old virgin (2005) and knocked up (2007), and producer of superbad (2007) and forgetting sarah marshall has found the formula to make everyone laugh. His secret is having been able to step out from the tiring inertia of recent comedies to reinvent a genre and stuff it with freshness.

Segel, who is also responsible for the script shines, while Bell is as good as she has to be. And Brand, well, you will either love his character or hate it, but undoubtedly remember it. The rest of the cast serve graciously as one liners both deliverers and receivers. Behind the camera we find Nicholas Stoller, as novice as Segel as a writer. Both successful enough for a first attempt.

A movie that will keep your mouth bend all the way. Sometimes giggling, sometimes smiling, sometimes laughing.

Mike Nichols demostró ser un director precoz con su segunda película, the graduate (1966). Sin emabargo y a pesar de contar con una filmografía, si más no, decente, no volvió a estar en boca de muchos, para bien o para mal, hasta el estreno de closer hace ya uno años. Basada en la obra de teatro homónima de Patrick Marber, closer es una incursión pesimista para algunos, realista para otros, en la manera que tiene el ser humano de relacionarse. O sea, una película de enamoramientos y desenamoramientos. Hasta el punto de que los diálogos que llevan a los personajes en una dirección o la otra, son lo único que importa.

El argumento es de lo más simple y consiste en mezclar los cuatro personajes protagonistas de todas las maneras imaginables. Eso sí, manteniendo intacta su heterosexualidad a lo largo del largometraje. Estos son Alice (Natalie Portman), Dan (Jude Law), Anna (Julia Roberts) y Larry (Clive Owen), quien había interpretado a Dan en la obra de teatro.

Es, sin disimularlo, una película de personajes. Así, todo lo que tiene que ofrecer reside en la capacidad de los mismos de hacer creíbles sus encuentros. Lo cierto es que Owen, sobre todo, y Portman, gracias a los matices de su personaje, se desenvuelven mejor que Law y Roberts, pero tampoco mucho mejor y, en general, todos están a la altura de las circunstancias, que no es mucha.

El guión de Patrick Marber, sin ser nada del otro mundo, nos regala un par de momentos que yo personalmente nunca olvidaré por su fuerza. Pero son sólo eso, momentos, frases aisladas que ponen el dedo en la llaga de espectadores meláncolicos. El resto es mediocre.

Mención aparte merece las canciones, dos, de Damien Rice, a quien yo descubrí gracias a closer. Gracias, closer. El prólogo de la película con the blowers's daughter de fondo es brillante. Lástima que sea de lo poco que brilla en la película de Nichols. Aunque, insisto, no es una mala película y depende del estado de ánimo del espectador.

Sin más una película para ver con tu pareja cuando todo va bien.

Have you ever tried to whistle blend together the indiana jones, star wars and superman main themes? Neither have I.

Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is asked by Walter Donovan (Julian Glover) to go after the Holy Grail after his father vanished while searching for a clue to its location himself. Donovan owns an incomplete stone tablet that might hold the key to the location of the chalize and points them in the right direction. Jones accepts and travels to Venice with Dr. Marcus Brody (Denholm Elliot) where he meets Dr. Elsa Schneider (Alison Doody) and will discover that they are not the only ones interested in the location of the Holy Grail and that the Nazi army are also after it.

The prologue disassociates itself from those from the previous adventures. It goes back in time and introduce a young Indiana Jones played by once the most promising actor of his generation, River Phoenix. Other than that, the formula is the same successful one. One getaway after another. And I do not get tired of them. Again the script is just an excuse to link them together in a somehow meaningful way. This time they avoid the darkness of indiana jones and the temple of doom (1984) and substitute it by a tone that might be too jokey for some but amusing, anyways. They can always argue that they were experimenting with the comical side of the character. And by them I mean, of course, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, friends and American residents.

The title of the third issue of the adventures of Indiana Jones refers to the last of the crusades undertaken to find the Holy Grail and was thought as well as an end to the trilogy. Now we know that even though that was probably the case almost twenty years ago, it is not anymore.

It delivers what everyone expects, really, it does.

Un filón encontraron Steven Spielberg y George Lucas en la persona de un arqueólogo de culo inquieto. Uno de tantos.

Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) se encuentra en Shangai negociando con un mafioso local el intercambio de los restos de Nurhaci por un diamante de un tamaño considerable. Las cosas se tuercen y en su huída Jones, Tapón (Jonathan Ke Quan) y Wilhelmina Scott (Kate Capshaw) acaban perdidos en India. Sin comerlo ni beberlo, y a falta de nada mejor que hacer, deciden ayudar a los habitantes de una remota aldea a recuperar una piedra sagrada. Su búsqueda los llevará a las profundidades de un misterioso templo.

Con la segunda entrega del héroe del látigo y el sombrero Steven Spielberg y George Lucas ahondan en lo oscuro del personaje con una historia un tanto menos infantil que la primera. Y eso que para esta cuentan con el inolvidable Ke Quan. Inolvidable por su papel aquí y en the goonies (1985) un año después. Las malas lenguas dicen que lo de arrancar corazones se le ocurrió a Lucas a raiz de su divorcio. Uno no sabe que pensar al respecto. Lo que sí es cierto, es que el resto de la película parece hecho de retales de ideas que no cupieron en la primera. Así, de nuevo el argumento está al servicio de la espectacularidad de las idas y venidas de los protagonistas, con malos malísimos siempre detrás. A pesar de la mayor seriedad, el montante sigue siendo un mero divertimento que incluso osa reírse de sí mismo.

Por alguna extraña razón que probablemente tenga que ver con lo pesado, por existir, de algunos diálogos indiana jones and the temple of doom ha sido siempre menospreciada frente a sus primas hermanas. Por otro lado, y sin desmerecer en absoluto, en mi opinión, la trilogía se tiende a sobrevalorar. Así, ni tan poco en ésta, ni tanto en las demás.

Dr. Seuss, born Theodor Seuss Geisel, was an American children book writer and drawer. Among his books I will mention two that have already experienced the jump to the big screen, how the grinch stole christmas (2000) and the cat in the hat (2003). After watching horton hears a who! one thing becomes clear, cartoons, somehow, they were in the first place, and cartoons, they should have been. No matter how much effort Jim Carrey and Mike Myers put. And then again, when talking about the big screen, it seems that neither adult stories can be told with cartoons, nor children stories without them.

horton hears a who! is a story for children. An excellent one, I must say. It sure has an essence that is able to reach the children every single adult carries within, but that is not the ultimate goal of the story. It is made for children and it is not ashamed of it. That does not mean grown ups cannot enjoy the ride, but they are required to play by certain rules they might have forgotten already.

Horton is a charming elephant who teaches young animals a little bit of this and a little bit of that in the jungle. Ned is the mayor of Who-ville. When their paths crossed is for them to realize that Who-ville is on a speck that Horton carries on a flower. Horton's mission will be to guarantee the safety of Who-ville while facing accusations of being nuts by his fellow beasts. How in this world can a speck host life?

The story has everything a children story should have. There is the misunderstood character, there is an injustice, there is hope, there is a journey, there is a mean character. No surprises there, which turns to be good if you do not ask for them. As for the animation, no surprises either, other than a few seconds of anime. The guys behind it are the creators of ice age (2002). Truth is, there was no need to advertise it, it is obvious right from the beginning. I guess they do a good job at being themselves and preserve the essence of Seuss's drawings.

An amusing way to spend a rainy Saturday evening. It does not hurt anyone to enjoy being a kid every now and then.

It looks like English director Joe Wright likes reading. He has thoroughly read, at least, two novels, Jane Austen's pride and prejudice (1813) and Ian McEwan's atonement (2001), and I bet the list is long. He has had to in order to turn them into feature films the way he has. The former qualified as a more than a decent debut, while the latter confirms that he might be on the right track even though he is somehow just at the beginning of his career.

I have not read McEwan's novel but I have read Austen's one. Nevertheless I will not say much about it. I am probably repeating myself, but what is the point of comparing a feature film with the novel it might be based on? I have not heard those kind of comparisons when a novel based on a movie is published. Yes, there are many of those as well. Novels do get the credit they deserve but comparing them with the actual outcome is a waste of time. In any case, I know Wright's perception of McEwan's novel, and that might bring me towards it, so I can direct my very own movie in my head. For those who do not like to read, atonement is a notable production, no matter where it comes from.

Thirteen years Briony Tallis (Saoirse Ronan) witnesses her cousin being raped in the dark in the surroundings of her family's English mansion. Having misinterpreted the passion between her older sister Cecilia (Keira Knightley) and the housekeeper's son Robbie Turner (James McAvoy) she points at him as the perpetrator of the rape. He is sent to prison, which breaks her sister's heart.

Knightley, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in pride & prejudice (2004), repeats with Wright, and shows again the potential she hided in domino (2005). Nevertheless, the young Ronan manages to steal the movie from the protagonist couple, specially when handling silences. On the other side, English actor McAvoy continues building an interesting career.

Wright approach to the story is more mature that I would have expected for a second cinematographic attempt. The way he toys with Briony's and Cecilia's different points of view of the events that untie the drama is both simple and clever. The story relies on the strength of those, and while after that the intensity fades it is high enough on the origin to keep your attention until the end.

The magnificent Academy Award winning music composed by Dario Marianelli deserves a special mention. It is not only beautiful but perfectly suited to carry on a story of guilt and sorrow. Marianelli's magic flows with the action to a point that at some points manages to somehow lead. Without the succession of images it is also worth listening to.

atonement will not be remembered forever but it is indeed sad enough to make you enjoy. What do I mean by that? You will have to figure it out yourself.

A la década de los ochenta pertenece, a pesar de la inminente indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull (2008 ), el fenómeno que revolucionó el cine de aventuras de la mano de un arqueólogo que repartía su tiempo entre sus estudiantes y el resto del mundo. Revolución que, por más que nos pese a algunos, se atenuó con el tiempo. Y es que el cine de aventuras ya no es lo que fue.

raiders of the lost ark es la primera aparición en la gran pantalla del Dr. Henry Walton Jones, Jr., por todos conocidos como Indiana Jones. Dos apariciones más en menos de diez años. Es sin duda la caracterización del personaje uno de los secretos del éxito de la saga concebida por George Lucas, primero, y Steven Spielberg, después. Jones es mujeriego, sinvergüenza, perdonavidas, pero adorable. James Bond con un látigo como único chisme y un guardarropía mucho más limitado. Si, Jones es Bond sin afeitar. Y Harrison Ford lo entiende a la perfección y convierte el personaje en una mezcla entre Bond y Han Solo, al que por aquel entonces conocía a la perfección.

La historia, no nos queramos engañar, es sobre todo una excusa para encadenar un sinfín de escenas de acción, casi siempre basadas en la huída del personaje. Excusa, sí, pero resultona. Los nazis están detrás del Arca de la Alianza con la que convertir su armada en invencible. Jones es convencido de que su ayuda es imprescindible para evitar tal acontecimiento y se embarca en su primera gran aventura. Para ello auna fuerzas con Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen), antiguo amor e hija de su mentor. Tan sencillo como eso y un viaje alrededor del mundo con escalas en Perú, Nepal y Egipto.

No sólo la forma de viajar de Jones se recuerda. Una delgada línea roja sobre un viejo mapa. Son muchos los momentos memorables de una, a priori, dudosa apuesta. Apuesta que hace gala también de cinismo y no disimula cierto gusto por lo macabro, como si de un ejemplo de serie B se tratara. El sorprendente resultado se resume en el inesperado éxito de la escena en la que Jones dispara en El Cairo a un espadero como el que no quiere la cosa en lo que parecía iba a ser un gran duelo. Al parecer, del todo improvisada. La historia de amor es también poco convencional. Poco convencional y como todo en la película, canalla.

La primera aventura de Jones ha envejecido bien porque el cine de aventuras decidió irse por otros derroteros. Así, se la mira siempre con cierta nostalgia. Es una buena película, eso es innegable, pero lo es por lo que supuso y porque nadie se ha dedicado a ahondar en una fórmula que en la década de los ochenta funcionó también con propuestas como the goonies (1984) y romancing the stone (1985).

En fin, un divertimento a base de huídas. Perseguidores y perseguidos al servicio del entretenimiento de los que no necesitan argumentos enrebesados para justificar venturas y desventuras por doquier.

Basado en hechos reales, eso reza el eslógan de la película. Y no miente, pues el robo que en ella se reproduce tuvo lugar y del botín nunca se supo. Al parecer el gobierno británico se esforzó en encubrirlo con el fin de proteger a un miembro de la familia real. Y es esa la joya de la corona de la inspiración de Dick Clement e Ian La Frenais, que con su guión se permiten interpretar libremente lo acontecido. Así, me atrevo a decir, sin querer desmerecer a nadie, que está tan basada en hechos reales como cualquier otra.

Hay trenes que pasan una sola vez. Eso es lo que piensa Terry Leather (Jason Statham) cuando Martine Love (Saffron Burrows), una vieja amiga y algo más, le propone robar un banco. Lo que Terry y sus esbirros desconocen es que Martine, o debería decir el agente del MI5 que mueve los hilos, en lo que está interesada es en el contenido de una de las cajas de seguridad del banco. Lo que nadie imagina es que el contenido de la susodicha no es el único que nunca debería salir a la luz.

Statham vuelve a cortarse el pelo que nunca tuvo para no dejar de hacer lo de siempre. Eso sí, esta vez porrazos, los justos, y es que su personaje debe aparentar ser un vulgar padre de familia. No se desenvuelve mal del todo, la verdad, aunque profundidad la justa.

La película comienza con el get it on de T.Rex y un menage à trois que sin esfuerzo descubren que corren los años setenta. Por ello, después del apaga y vámonos, uno hecha de menos haber disfrutado de alguna que otra canción más de entonces. La propuesta ciertamente se prestaba a ello. Tampoco debe uno asustarse por los desnudos iniciales, lo cierto es que Roger Donaldson, que en su día dirigió a Tom Cruise en cocktail (1988) se las apaña para despachar un producto resultón.

Son varias las tramas que se mezclan alrededor del robo, pues son muchos los que allí tienen depositados, algunos sin saberlo, sus mayores secretos, miembros de la realeza, políticos, policías. Donaldson acertadamente centra la historia en el personaje de Statham y se pasea de puntillas por los demás, aunque con suficiencia. Tampoco hace falta un gran esfuerzo audiovisula para mostrar le porqué del interés de un ministro en recuperar el contenido de la caja de seguridad de una madame. El ritmo, así, es elevado y a pesar de la falta de la acción a la que Statham nos tiene acostumbrados, el aburrimiento no hace acto de presencia.

En definitiva una película muy decente. En términos futbolístico pordría etiqutarse de clase media, que en el mundo del cine englobaría aquellas propuestas que alejadas de la galaxia de las pocas elegidas están destinadas a entretener a base de oficio.

a moment to remember is just yet another example of how depressive a South Korean movie can be. Seriously, after the tear-jerking sad movie (2005) I thought I had seen it all. I was wrong. Nevertheless, a moment to remember, which was released a year earlier, substitutes many sad endings by a unique endless sad ending. The effect is still the same, though, and turns the John E. Lee second attempt to please the audiences into an enormous melodrama.

Oddly, I could not tell where the story was going. It starts with serendipitous encounters between Su-jin (Son Ye-jin) and Cheol-su (Jung Woo-sung, who played the firefighter in sad movie). She is an upper class young woman recently dumped by a married man she was having an affair with. He is a shrewd carpenter constantly laughing at life. Funny situations and even some slow motion for a pseudo-action shot. But everything, including the tone of the story, changes when she is diagnosed with Alzheimer.

And that is just the beginning of a succession of events that do not hide Lee's intention of firing sad bullets at you. And not only that, each of them could have tied up the story, but does not. Thus, we have several pseudo-endings, one after the other until there is certainly no room for more.

The approach works while the love story is the absolute protagonist of what is going on. It is honest, and even though one is familiar with the story portrayed it does not hurt. How many times have we seen love triumph over social differences? But then the melodrama starts and stretches for too much and too long. Nevertheless, it manages to ask you a question. Does the love you feel for your significant other rely on your memories? Lee manages to throw arguments against and in favor but taking, in the end, a position somehow closer to the former, both more romantic and less logic.

Jung Woo-sung and Son Ye-jin are both charming as Cheol-su and Su-jin while they are falling in love, but too worried about showing themselves sad towards the end. In any case, they manage to carry a movie filled with beautiful landscapes and the usual trade marks of South Korean cinema.

All in all, an interesting reflection about love, deep love, through a devastating disease that unfortunately steals memories from us, and with them, something else?

southland tales es, hasta la fecha, el proyecto más ambicioso de Richard Kelly, el prodigioso director y guionista de la aclamada por propios y extraños donnie darko (2001), su primera incursión en el mundo del celuloide. Lo cierto es que el planteamiento original de southland tales por parte del director estadounidense suena a delirio de grandeza. Así, en un principio fue concebida como una experiencia interactiva dividida en nueve partes: seis novelas gráficas, una página web interactiva y una película para atar cabos sueltos. Al final son tres las novelas gráficas, con la página web he interactuado poco, y la película, bueno, la película. Quien mucho abarca, poco aprieta, que decía, y sigue diciendo, mi abuela.

southland tale es una libre interpretación del fin del mundo. Un fin del mundo que ocurre en dos mil ocho, cuatro años después de que la amenaza de un ataque nuclear en suelo estadounidense dejara de ser simplemente eso. Ciencia ficción, por supuesto. Y surreal, desde luego. El fin del mundo gira en torno al personaje de Dwayne Johnson, antes conocido como The Rock. Johnson interpreta a Boxer Santaros, un actor casado con la hija del candidato republicano a la presidencia de los Estados Unidos de América, que deambula por Los Ángeles sin memoria después de que se la arrebatara misteriosamente el desierto Tejano. California es el eje de un mundo en el que Estados Unidos se pelea con todo el que se mueve, dentro y fuera de sus fronteras. Sin ir más lejos lo que acontece nos la cuenta el soldado raso Pilot Abilene (Justin Timberlake) quien se enfrenta al mundo desde una de las infinitas torres de vigilancia esparcidas por Los Ángeles. Su misión, disparar antes de preguntar, y en su tiempo libre, como es lógico, cantar y bailar. El zoo se completa con traficantes de armas a bordo de heladerías, revolucionarios marxistas, insumisos suicidas, políticos de color de rosa, científicos egocéntricos. En fin, una visión ciertamente de todo, menos optimista y en la línea de George Orwell. Lo cierto es que con tanto bicho suelto y a pesar de lo interminable a uno le da siempre la sensación de que se ha perdido algo. ¿Las novelas gráficas quizás?

southland tales está hecha con ánimo de crítica y funciona en el terreno de lo absurdo pero acaba convirtiéndos en ese amigo que todos tenemos que se repite más que unos garbanzos con chorizo. No encuentro razón de ser a los ciento cuarenta y cinco minutos que dura. La versión estrenada en el Festival Internaciona de Cine de Cannes en dos mil seis, por cierto, donde no la echan de menos, duraba quince minutos más.

Momentos brillantes, haberlos haylos, sobre todo para aquellos amantes de la clase B y lo absurdo como atajo a lo esencial. Pero el barco se hunde.

It is not surprising to find Sean Penn's name linked to the project. I bet the Academy Award winning actor is not any republican's favorite. He has recently raised his voice several times against Bush's administration's position on war and other issues. He is the narrator of war made easy, which might just be understood as a claim for distribution purposes. So be it. This certainly will keep many American people away from this documentary or wanting to watch it just to fight it back. Similar to the way Michael Moore's documentaries are treated. Nevertheless, and despite the obvious bias, Solomon's essay has an intrinsic value for being focused on exposing rather than arguing. The latter is just a consequence.

Bush's administration. The structure of the documentary is not by all means innovative. It is reduced to an interview with Solomon himself and many scattered footage, old and new, from many media sources. This is, politicians interventions and war footage, before, during and after, as it is seen by those who claim they deliver the truth.

It is interesting to realize how similar the beginning of wars are in terms of politicians words and media coverage. The same arguments are used over and over again to convince public opinion about the convenience of war. Convenience that the media never fight back, they know what suits them. On the contrary, they do their bit and eventually turn war into a product.

That is what they have to say about that. That, and that we live in a world where civil casualties in armed conflicts are up to 90% and the end of those rarely are celebrated as victories. We all lose.

For the deadhours of those who watch wars from their living rooms while eating popcorn.
