Though the hype to do something about it has diminished just a little, I want the people who participate in these devious practices to know we are watching them.  I also want them to know that the more people know about scams the less likely they will become 'your next target and potential victim'.

Just as identity theft and fraud is underhanded and sometimes hard to trace back to the perpetrator, email scams can be a bit hard to track to its original source. (unless you have the equipment, resources, time and money)

Right now, AWARENESS is our weapon.  Please know that these people (scammers) are people with a completely different agenda as you and I - and that's to beat you out of something (money or identity).  With awareness, you are more apt to recognize when a website or email looks too good to be true or is of a suspicious nature.

Within the past 3 months, A Helping Hand Office Support Service has received, on a given day, at least 10 emails from various sources asking for our services or financial support.  THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!

The Virtual Assistants Industry is proned more than any other internet industry to suffer from this widespread epidemic mainly because potential clients are extremely skeptical of utilizing our services, making it difficult to earn a decent living.

Individuals looking for work also find it hard to make money fearing the companies they take on are bogus (85% of them are).  Data entry scams are notorious making it virtually impossible to find work as well as for legitimate businesses to solicit service to the public.

RESEARCH, RESEARCH, AND MORE RESEARCH!

We all work extremely hard to build our practice.  Predators seeking to take your identity and money makes it even harder to do so.  Protect your business, integrity and reputation by researching your prospects as well as the people you hire to work for and with you.  Ask for credentials from everybody:  vendors, clients and employees.

HONESTY

Don't get me wrong, there are some legitimate sites out there who are soliciting honest work and are looking for hard working individuals to help.  But you have to do your homework to find them.
