So I started watching Chuck online (didn’t watch it when it was on air), and I’m hooked

So I started watching Chuck online (didn't watch it when it was on air), and I'm hooked right away. For those of you who didn't watch it, Chuck is a spy-themed tv show, like Burn Notice. But the main character, Chuck, is not uber cool, multi-language speaker, ass-kicking character. Chuck in fact is a leader of the Nerd Herd (think Geek Squad), who accidentally got involved into intellegent world because his college friend, Bryce -who Chuck thought was an accountant, stole a very very secret file containing secret information from several different intel agencies. So he was hunt down by a hot CIA agent, Sarah, and a guy from NSA (can't remember his name  ). Because Chuck somehow memorized the content, he's now forced to work for them. Like Burn Notice, this tv show is also full of action, at least from what I see from the first few episodes.

Speaking of Burn Notice, there hasn't been any new episodes these past few weeks because of US Open, and it includes this week. So for those of you who are wondering, the new episode will air on Sept 11 at usual time. Write it down on your calendar so you don't miss it :P After that, there will be another new episode on the following week (Sept 18), but after that USA network is going to put it on a break until winter. USA network will air the remaining 7 episodes of the 2nd season early next year.

Since I don't have too many things to watch now, I'm re-watching season 1 of Eureka. If you like sci-fi shows, you must've watched it too. But even if you're not really into it, I really recommend watching it. The story in each episode is always refreshing. More new seasons of old series or new series are coming soon. Prison break, knight rider (I'll give it a shot), Crusoe, and my own worst enemy are among those I want to watch. Between work, school, and other tv shows that I want to watch, 24 hours a day isn't enough! Goog thing that I don't have HBO or ShowTime, otherwise I don't know how I can keep up with things

So, in the uneventful category, today is my birthday. I'm pretty much okay with it not being a big to-do, (I did go to lunch w/my mom. It was fun) but there's a small part of me that is still 9 or 5 and wants a big pink party dress, princess tiara and matching fluffy coconut cake with pink candles. I want people to stand around and clap just because and smile and cheer and give me gifts. Honestly, deep down in our girly subconscious who doesn't want that?

[caption id="attachment_344" align="aligncenter" width="399" caption="Wow!"][/caption]

The older I get the more I've given myself permission to be a complete girly girl from time to time. Pink seems to be the way I express that. You should see my bedroom. It looks like someone barffed Pepto Bismol in there. I pity and adore the man who dares to enter. The right man will deal with it. He's a MAN. He may not love it, but he can handle it. Amen.

Oddly, pink does not come naturally to me. I grew up lime green--shag carpet, checked curtains, everything. I never had, nor ever wanted that fluffy birthday party above. I wouldn't have been caught dead in pink when I was a kid. NEVER. In my 20s I gave over to black, goth before goth had a name, then denounced it in my 30s, except for cocktail parties. Now I like most colors, still green, with a little secret pension for pink. It feels so daring.

I didn't get that birthday cake today, although there's no reason I can't make it for myself. I like to bake and my birthday can last as long as I want it to, right? I did however buy myself a gift today, not necessarily in the birthday category, but whatever: a new remote control--because I AM the queen of my castle, and as such don't ever have to share the remote. I can watch Spike TV, HGTV or as many episodes of Burn Notice as i can locate. Any. Time. I want. The only thing that would make this baby better is if it came in pink. ;-)

Hello. Yes, I've been the un-poster, the non-writer, the bad blogger. What can I say? These ever-so-fun migraines have leveled me flat. My biggest joy is the doc prescribing more caffeine--I kid you not. He, of course, does not know who he is talking to. My blood is transfused w/the finest Italian roast available. Throw a couple Excedrin Migraine tabes (all caffeine) into my coffee and I'm on rocket fuel!

Anyway, the head bangers have subsided for now. Hallelujah. Plus, I've got my new "blended lenses" aka bifocals. Yes, more fun. They are supposed to help me read the fine print, but mostly I feel like I'm wandering through fun house mirrors, dizzy and nauseous. JUST STAY AWAY FROM THE STAIRS! (Sorry, warning to myself.) If you don't hear from me for more than a week, I'm probably at the bottom of the stairwell, having pitched it over the "blended lenses. "

***

On a fun note, I've been invited to write the "Daily Dose" over on the Etsy Vintage Blog http://etsyvintage.blogspot.com/. I even figured out how to create a hot link all by myself. I am so awesome. (Can't do it here, yet, but one web mess at a time.) It should be fun. I get to pick my favorites. Who doesn't love that?

Well, it's been a nice evening. After a grizzly 100+ degree day, Zephyr and I went swimming at the river. It was lovely--a girl getting to swim with her dog. The best. Now, he's crashed in front of the AC, and I am off to watch my FAVORITE show: Burn Notice, because # 2 on my favorite things to do list is Jeffrey Donovan. Anywhere, anytime, babe. Just say the word. ;-)

It’s time for school to start around here. The kids start earlier here than in New Jersey, where I went to school. There, we started in September; the fall. The weather turned cooler, the trees began to change color, and one of the ways to cope with the impending doom of a new year was to check out what new shows were coming on TV.

Fall is Spring when it comes to television. Script ideas burst from the cocoon to emerge as a new show. It may not survive, but at least it had its shot on the boob tube.

I used to know what all the new shows were. I used to have my favorite shows picked out and I would make time to watch them. Many times the entire family would sit down to watch a particular show.

Now, I barely know what’s on. Entire shows have come and gone and I never knew about them. The Pretender ran from 1996 to 2000. I just started watching it the other day, in 2008. Eight years after the show ended!

I don’t even get to watch my favorite show, The Simpsons. Either something is going on and I can’t catch it, or I just plain forget it’s on. And that’s a show that I made sure I was home to watch.

Lately, though, I’ve been trying very hard to watch Eureka and Burn Notice. I have to try really hard to remember that they’re on, though.

I still don’t know what’s in store for the new season. Hell, I’m not even sure we have “seasons” anymore. Now there’s half-seasons and replacement shows and stuff. Is Fall still the time for new shows to really shine? Or does it matter anymore?

I used to love reading TV Guide, or the newspaper, and seeing what new shows were coming up. Now, it doesn’t really impact my life at all. I suppose I should be happy about that. My time is chained to one less object, but I miss having that feeling of expectation.

The show "Burn Notice" is something I look forward to every week. Usually I don't get really excited about a television show. I haven't gotten hooked to a show in years; not since Buffy the Vampire Slayer have I followed a series so astutely. But Burn Notice just happens to have the best blend of elements that I really enjoy.

It has mega amounts of comedy, exciting action, "how'd they think of that?" type of intelligence, awesome plots, unique and well defined characters, and most of all: top of the line actors. My favorite actor? No surprise, its Jeffrey Donovan, of course! As the lead actor, his performance can make or break the show, and he has yet to disappoint.

"Rough Seas," the seventh episode of the second season, is by far the best episode of Burn Notice for many reasons, but to me it excelled above and beyond because of one thing: Donovan's incredible work as Michael Westin.

As Westin, Donovan's performance was absolutely top notch. Of course the performances of Gabriel Anwar (who plays Fiona, Michael's ex-girlfriend), Bruce Campbell (who plays Sam Axe, Michael's best friend), and Sharon Gless (who plays Michael's mother) were better than ever, but I have a bias toward Donovan because I'm a young female and care to talk about his acting more than anyone's... :).

I would venture to say that Donovan is perhaps one of the best masters of subtlety and subtext in the entire business. And this episode proves it. With a telling glance of the eye, or his body language, you can look into Westin's mind and know what he's thinking. This is only achieved when the actor is actually doing and thinking these thinks, not merely acting them.

Whats more, Donovan never takes the easy road when it comes to tough situations with Michael. An actor can always use what comes immediately to mind, but a seasoned, professional, and acceptional performer will do their homework into the character, discovering nuances about the character and his relationships that may or may not even make it to screen. But it is that story, that life, the good actor draws from, and the result is a well-rounded, unpredictable, human being. Donovan has done just that by successfully balancing Michael's hard edge sarcasm with a raw vulnerability, and that is a fantastic feat.

Quite often in Burn Notice, Westin is required to become different personalities in order to convince a criminal to trust him so that he can pull the proverbial rug out from underneath to save another victim's life. These different personalities have a huge range, and Donovan consistently pulls them off, but I'm always surprised to see how versatile Donovan can be. Just when I think he's going to regurgitate characteristics he's used in the past while donning a new personality, he completely transforms Westin into an entirely new person. The skulking, inhaler huffing, high strung chemist Westin portrays in "Rough Seas" is above and beyond what I had expected.

To say the least, I'm panting to see more of Donovan's talent on the screen. As far as the rest of the show goes, the writing was superb, successfully building up relationships and continuing the main storyline. I certainly look forward to the next episode!

If you haven't had the chance to see this episode or any other, go to www.hulu.com to check it out! Just type in Burn Notice, and you're there!

Burn Notice is a dramedy featuring intelligence work. Mike Weston used to work in intelligence, but got burned. He’s now stuck in Miami and has spent most of last season looking for the ones who put a burn notice out on him. He’s joined by an old friend Sam (Bruce Campbell), who is keeping tabs on him for the FBI counter-intelligence unit, and Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar), an Irish gun totting ex-girlfriend, doing low-key operations in Miami, trying to help out and to make some money.

I thought that Burn Notice was enjoyable. It’s not the best of shows, but certainly follows the comedic elements put forth by Psych. We didn’t learn much about Mike. There was not a lot revealed about who Mike really works for. In the past, intelligence operatives worked exclusively for countries. Now corporate interests are also represented. Some of the largest corporations have profits well in excess of those of some countries. It’s just natural that the intelligence field was privatized as well, just like the armed forces are slowly being replaced by mercenary outfits run by giant corporations.

Mike has to help Virgil with trying to find a shipment of hijacked pharmaceuticals. At the same time, he's trying to find out more about the rifle that he hijacked for Carla.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

* * * * *

Mike and Fi are trying to meet Seymour. He's an arms dealer and he might know how to track down the Russian sniper rifle. Seymour shows up in a yellow Corvette. He makes a deal with some Bulgarians that goes wrong. They have to drive away after things get hairy.

Virgil is an old client who shows up at Mike's door. He needs help for Marcela, who runs a medical relief agency in town. They had shipped a million dollars worth of supplies. It was hijacked an hour out of Miami.

Sam has got a lead for the illegal drug smugglers. Virgil and Mike will be heading out. Mike had warned Virgil to stay away from his mom. They pay a visit to Feldman, the drug dealer. Some guy wanted to sell a million dollars worth of drugs.

They get a meeting. Sam's going to be running it. Mike meets Seymour again. They get shot at again by Pavel.

Gerard is the drug thief. He's hosting a party for his employees. Sam is there. Gerard already sold the drugs.

Mike has to make new plans. Sam wants him to go in as part of Gerard's team. Madelyn shows up with a pie. She wants to see Virgil, but Mike won't let her. Mike and Fi go to see Seymour at his place. He's still hasn't got anything for them. He keeps forgetting. He's happy to tell Mike that the Bulgarians finally paid up.

Sam gets Gerard to accept their lure, to heist a next-gen steroid shipment off a yacht with the help of Jackson (Mike).

Mike is taken in by Gerard. He gets a call and tells Fi. Fi crashes into the car so that Mike can tell her that the op is on for real. Virgil and Sam are creating the fake drugs. They look pretty good.

Mike learns that Gerard plans on killing the people on the yacht. Mike has to fake kill Virgil. At least he's still alive. Gerard hides the drugs in a pharmaceutical company warehouse. He's got an in thanks to a guy he knows and he scatters his merchandise in the warehouse, making it impossible to find if you don't know what you are looking for.

Mike tells Gerard that Sam's persona is extremely dangerous. He kills crews and takes what he wants. He makes them believe that they need to move the stuff in order to flush them out. They start shooting at a van that Sam brought over and Mike ignites it with some deft shooting. He leaves with the drugs and the cops arrive to nab Gerard and his boys.

Virgil takes out Madelyn. Mike and Fi go to see Seymour. He assaults Mike. Seymour tracked the gun, but it got burned to the ground. A guy named Bill Johnson picked up the rifle.

Well, been a while since I did a random and I kinda need to. So let me blow my load here and give yall some of my knowledge.

First up is the word "knowledge". Come to find out if you ask a gang member what their "knowledge" is they tell you who they are, where they been, wrapsheet, and particulars. Interesting fact.

I really want a pair of Heely's to roll around in my office. I know they are kiddy, but really it would be cool. We have some really long hallways and to "heel" down them would be sweet. True they are kinda childish, but really who doesn't think it would be cool. Anybody? Anybody? Screw you guys, it would be sweet.

Anyway, I just bought Mass Effect for the 360. Got it on sale. I really wanted Too Human but due to a lack in fundage couldn't afford a full priced title. I really needed something after the letdown of Soul Calibur IV. I doubt I'll ever play that crap again and EBGames only want to give me $30 bucks for it. Screw that noise. It cost me $60 dude.

I did pick up a few DVDs for cheap and am watching some of those. I watched Birds of Prey and honestly it was a lot better than I actually remember it. Good show. The new music is ok too (except for the final fight, it needed t.a.t.u. in there). Got and watched Fastlane too. Great show as well and the music wasn't a huge deal except for the theme song and it was missing "I Wanna Be Sedated" by The Ramones in one of the episodes. The other missing music wasn't a big deal.

Shwayze had an album drop on Tuesday and it is just really good. Rap, acoustic, folk, and good ol' California Pop mixed in is a great combination. Highly recommend everyone go and buy. NOW!!!

Hawthorne Heights new album "Fragile Future" came out too and it is just ok. They lost quite a bit when their other vocalist/guitarist died. The problem is that they still write the songs as if he is still alive and singing with them. The problem that is created is that the music is just a really whiny guy singing and a ton of blank spots where there should be screaming. No contrast in music that really needs it. The songs though are actually well done, and well written. Just the delivery and a musician is only as good as the delivery.

Final thought is that the Sidekick LX actually has a screen protector on it out of the box. Thank you Sharp/T-Mob.

That about does it. I'm tired and really want to go home. Watch Burn Notice and Flashpoint on tonight. Both really good shows.

End Transmission

Another view of one of the sharks in the Shark Aquarium in Ocean Park Hong Kong.

Mike has to help an old family friend with his troubles. He's been framed in an accounting scheme and the rapper he works for isn't known for being forgiven. Mike also has to work with a new agent named Victor, who's a pain in the ass. Carla wants them to hijack something.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

* * * * *

Carla's message told him to meet Victor. He calls himself the wrangler and wants Mike to do an op. He gives him a phone. He asks Sam to go over to stay with his mom. At Madelyn's place, he meets Ricky, an old family friend. Ricky is an accountant and works for a hip-hop mogul named Valentine. Recently, he found 2 million missing from a charity account. He thinks that Eddie, Valentine's right hand man, is responsible.

Mike is called away to meet Victor. He wants Mike to hijack something. Victor lets him know that he's got an enhanced GPS in his cellphone. Mike removes it, but finds a message from Victor. Vic wants the GPS left intact. Mike uses call forwarding instead.

Fi calls in a bomb threat to the building next door to Valentine's. The firefighters have the whole block evacuated. Mike uses this as a diversion to get into Eddie's office.

Eddie is looking for a front business in order to launder the money that he stole from Valentine. Eddie made it look like Ricky stole the money.

Mike wants and introduction thanks to Barry the money launderer. Sam has set-up Mike's cover ID. He meets Eddie in a bar. It looks like Eddie likes what he's seeing. He shows him an empty condo development. Eddie gets called away to a meeting with Valentine. Valentine gets physical with one of his employees. Eddie fingered him for trying to lure one of Valentine's artists away. Valentine whacks him with a platinum record.

Mike is about to close the deal with Eddie when Victor shows up. Victor burns the deal and Mike isn't happy. He decides to reverse the situation. He goes to the offensive and talks with Eddie. He plays on Eddie's paranoia. Sam pretends to surveil him to freak him out.

Victor is an ass. He gives Mike some indications on what is going to happen. Mike rigs a homemade x-ray machine in his trunk.

Eddie gives him a call. Mike said that he was moving his money offshore. Eddie wants his moved as well. Eddie tells Mike that he's got guys taking care of the loose ends right now. Mike calls Fi and says that a hit squad is on his way to get Ricky. Fi is able to hold them off.

Mike tells Eddie that the feds are on their backs because of Ricky. Eddie says that the people that he sent to kill Ricky ran away. Mike provokes him into trying to kill Ricky himself. Eddie goes to see Ricky to kill him. Eddie doesn't know that Valentine is there. Eddie is frustrated because Valentine made half a billion dollars. Eddie is still on a paycheck. He gets table scraps. The gun that Mike gave him is filled with blanks. Eddie doesn't know that Valentine is in the house. Eddie has been killed by Valentine.

Mike's op with Victor goes by without a cinch. Mike uses a shotgun with some incendiary rounds as a diversion. Thanks to the x-ray machine, they find out that Victor hijacked a sniper rifle.

Mike has to stop a crew from completing a heist. His day job is interfering with his hunt for answers. In the end, it partially works out. This was a good episode.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Fi and Mike have been waiting for 4 hours for Carla to pick up her mail. They follow an old lady. She goes to an old building. It's being watched by covert security.

Sam pulled the building records. It's going to break in. Some guy named Trevor is waiting to see Mike. He's a wheelman. He just came out of prison. His old boss has forced him to participate in an armed robbery. He can't leave the state without breaking his parole.

The crew is formed out of CJ the hustler, Gilbert is the safe-cracker, Kandi is the muscle, and Timo, the boss. Sam thinks that Gilbert is the easy mark. He's not supposed to drive because of his DUIs.

Mike ropes in Fi to make him drink a glass. Gilbert already spotted Sam. The cops pull up. Sam has to improvise. Gilbert is arrested. Trevor tells Mike that the job hasn't been called off. Mike will pose as the new safe-cracker. Mike puts a webcam up on Carla's place. Sam spots a gap in the security.

Veronica is taking Sam out to dinner. They are celebrating their 1 month since they said I love you. Veronica asks him to marry her.

Timo tests Mike and he passes easily. Trevor finds out where the robbery will take place. The trouble is that CJ is working as security at the jewelry exchange.

Sam and Fi are helping Mike break into Carla's place. It turns out that Sam is already married. He was married in the 70s. Fi tells Sam to tell Veronica the truth. When Sam is about to get into the building, he gets a call from Timo. The robbery is about to take place.

Mike is able to get a message to Fi and Sam. Sam trips the alarm as the crew is about to complete the heist. Timo has everyone leave. Sam gives Timo's car a flat tire before leaving.

The crew arrives at their hideout. Sam tells the others that he got the jewels and gave them to Timo. Mike has Fi and Sam blow up the boathouse. The crew thinks that Timo screwed them over.

Kandi finds Timo. She isn't happy. She kills him.

Veronica kicked Sam out of her life after his confession. Fi and Mike are leaving to break into Carla's place. He arrives and finds a digital picture frame waiting for him. It contains a message from Carla. He was made the day before when he canceled the op. He finds another message from Carla.

In Plain Sight follows a kind of show that has been made very popular on USA. It follows Burn Notice and Psych. It’s half comedy, half drama. Dramedy. The stories follow Mary Shannon, an officer for the US Marshals Witness Protection. Actually, Psych is all comedy, but you get the idea. It kind of reminds me of Saving Grace on TNT.

On July 21st, In Plain Sight was renewed for a second 16 episode season. That pretty good news.

They have to relocate and protect witnesses to federal cases. In this episode, Brandy's problems come crashing into Mary's life. There is a case of mistaken identity and the US Marshals are looking for Mary.

Brandy hides the truth from everyone but her family and things don't end as well as they could have. This was the first part of the season finale. It was a pretty riveting show.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

In New Jersey, a guy is arrested for drug trafficking. He wants to make a deal. He wants to be in witsec. He gets his deal. The FBI agents get shot by some masked men. They know Charlie Johnson. He gets knocked out. He's been missing ever since.

Mary thinks that her family will be the death of her. She is being followed. Jinx is at the audition for the play. She's doing well. However, she locks herself out of the theater.

Mary sees Jinx walking around in a dance outfit. She kind of looks like a hooker. Her tail leaves her. Mary walks in and finds her mom singing. Her mom freaks out on her and leaves in a fluster, accusing Mary of ruining everything.

As Mary walks out, she gets a call from another federal agent in New Jersey. He asks her about her sister. Before she can make sense of this, she is attacked by two men, who try to abduct her. She manages to fight them off, but they used chloroform. She's out cold. The men take her away. Some homeless man sees them.

Brandy and Raph are having breakfast. Nothing happened and they discuss their situation. He tells her to talk about Chuck with her sister. She calls Chuck and the federal agent answers.

Bobby D is told by the homeless man that a woman named Mary was abducted. He finds her phone and makes the connection.

Marshall sees the news about the murdered FBI agents. They were arresting Charlie, who is a drug dealer. He lives in the same town as Brandy. Stan and Marshall put two and two together after O'Conner calls Marshall, trying to reach Shannon.

Jinx comes home to drink. She gets a call from Brandy, who wants a lift. Brandy tells her mom that she's in a lot of trouble. As they arrive home, FBI and US Marshals converge on their location.

Marshall and Stan question Brandy and Jinx. Jinx thinks that Brandy is having an affair with Raph. Brandy tells her mom that Chuck forced her to take the drugs. The marshals don't know about them yet.

O'Conner shows up at Mary's house. He wants to talk with Brandy. O'Conner has dug up some dirt on Jinx and Brandy. It turns out that Jinx skipped out on 40 court ordered AA meetings. She moved to New Mexico. Mary's father spent 30 years on the FBI most wanted list.

Mary is chained to a pole. She wakes up. She has got a gun, but she can't do anything. The men bring in Chuck. Chuck tells them that Mary isn't Brandy. They kidnapped the wrong Shannon. Chuck still has Brandy's disposable phone number. The kidnapper is named Spanky. He tells Brandy that he's got Mary and Chuck. He shoots and kills Chuck. He wants the drugs. He tells her to meet her. Brandy gets ready to leave, but O'Conner arrives. He wants to talk. He's a bit rough with her.

Bobby D, Stan and Marshall run the license plate number that Mary had on her to-do list. The car was reported stolen a few days ago. They found the car. They got a partial from a cup and plan on going to the address.

O'Conner released info that Chuck was abducted with an unidentified female US Marshal. Spanky is informed that a US Marshal was kidnapped. O'Conner just signed Mary's death warrant. Spanky tells his goon to cut up Mary and dispose of the body. The goon wants to rape Mary first. He makes a mistake. She knocks him in the head and shoots him a couple of times. Another goon comes down, but Mary fires on him. The goon uses a shotgun ten times before Mary hears some more shots. Stan and Marshall take her to the precinct.

Stan locks O'Conner in the office and leaves when he tries to question Mary.

Tonight my usually-favourite-channel has gone from the good books (for making Neighbours available online) to the bad books. After another excellent episode of Burn Notice followed by the dreaded Channel 10 announcement "that was the final Burn Notice for now"

It's only been back on for a few weeks!

I am so tired of free-to-air channels stuffing the audience around. If it's not alternating new episodes of House and NCIS with old, it's pulling shows off altogether with no sign of when they'll return.

Not happy Ten. Seriously.

Art of the Day: The Runaway by Norman Rockwell.
Norman Rockwell always makes me think of my dentist

Art of the Day: The Runaway by Norman Rockwell.

Norman Rockwell always makes me think of my dentist. I had braces as a kid so I was quite a frequent visitor of the dentist office for a while. And up on the ceiling was a story of pictures done by Norman Rockwell of a little girl's day. It was quite cute and is the only good memory of my time there. Other memories of the dentist include the evil suction device that made me want to throttle the dental assistant. She would just leave it in there. I promise you there was absolutely NO saliva in my mouth. The glands in my mouth were making promises that they would never again make moisture if she would just take the damn suction thing out. She was an evil woman. I don't care what anyone says. And then there was the one time I have ever thrown up due simply to a gag reflex. I had to get one of those, oh what do you call them, molds done. So they have this thing overflowing with goop and then she shoves it so far in my mouth that the back of it, goop and all, is going down my throat. Not pleasant. I think I was more surprised than anyone that I threw up.

Thank you, Michael Shanks. You have officially gotten me hooked on another tv show. Just what I needed. It's true. I'm loving me some Burn Notice. And Michael really did hold nothing back in the crazy department. Victor is cuckoo. I loved the scene in the park where Victor is like "I'm the stick." and "I'm pretty sure you'll go first." Niice.

I'm a little wishy washy with Fiona. I like her and I don't like her. Actually, I'm a little surprised Michael's still alive. He's her ex and she doesn't seem the forgiving type. Guess things ended well between them.

I hate hunger pains. I don't know how people do it. Gum. I need to chew gum. Maybe that will help. What do you know. It actually did. Huh.

So, day one of 'diet'. I don't really plan to do much exercising today. Sorry. It's Sunday. And that's enough of an excuse for me. I went to a Chinese restaurant for lunch today and I didn't eat as much as I normally did and I'm setting food rules for myself. No eating after 7 for one. That will be hard for me because I typically don't start eating anything until noon and I eat snacky foods late at night. Also, lots of salad's and fruits. Mainly salads. Thankfully banana's are sounding good lately.

I'm going shopping later today. Hopefully get some cute shoes I spotted at Walmart yesterday but talked myself out of because there was a hint of toe cleavage. I hate toe cleavage but these shoes might make me go against my stand on the matter. They are really cute. Hopefully find some new skirts because I have a shocking lack of options in the skirt department.

I shouldn't have put up the Burn Notice picture. I keep getting distracted from writing by looking over at it. I didn't consciously notice it until now, but he is really hot. (Staring)

Okay. Yeah. Moving on. I've got a candle on the table to the right of me and I can see it flickering out of the corner of my eye and it keeps throwing me off, thinking somethings caught fire. Which technically it has. But something that's not supposed to catch fire. I don't usually light candles because I can't smell them and I think they look prettier non-melted. But occasionally with my lack of being able to smell, I get paranoid that my apartment stinks and I just can't tell so I light candles. Supposedly, my apartment should now smell like 'fresh strawberry pie'. Sounds interesting enough.

I don't know why but I've always thought my favorite smell would be vanilla if I could smell. I have no sound explanation for why I think this. But it is what it is.

Ooh, question. Ya know, the sayings, "A tree is a tree is a tree." I mean, it's probably not tree, but the saying where you repeat the same thing three times. Why do we do that? I get the concept behind why it's done but still, three times? Just curious.

Along with my losing weight goal, I'm going to be doing a little mental house cleaning as well. Wow, that made me sound kind of crazy. Anyway, I'm going to try and change some of my negative attitudes toward certain things in my life. I don't know how well I'll do in this endeavor as I can be pretty wishy washy about it but I'm going to try and include Lowen in it so that hopefully I'll stick with it this time. It needs to be done. I'm just not looking that forward to it at the moment.

Later same day...

So, Heidi was supposed to meet with me Friday night and hang out. She blew me off. Saturday at the wedding she told me that they had left the rehearsal really late and that she didn't feel good after so that's why she didn't come. They make phones for a reason, hun. You could have called. Honestly, I really didn't care. I was fine doing my own thing. Saturday, yet again at the wedding, we agreed to meet the next day and hang out because they were going to be leaving that day. Darrien was supposed to go play ball with the guys and we were going to hang out while he was doing that. Yeah, she doesn't call me until four when they were all headed to Popeye's. I was just walking out the door to go shopping with my mom. 'What time are you leaving?,' I ask. Six. Yeah. Ain't gonna happen. First she blew me off, then she waits until two hours before they leave to call me ...somehow I think I'm not gonna rush myself trying to get there. It's okay if she didn't really wanna hang out. I don't have any emotional issues with it. It's not like we talk anymore. I just thought the whole thing was kind of retarded. But enough complaining.

I bought new jeans. And they were my size AND not too tight, unlike the other ones. Amazing what a different brand can do for ones ego. And yes, I am embarrassed at how shallow this whole section of my post has been. I could very well hear it all being said in a valley girl accent.

So moving on then before my brain cells permanently stay at that level. I got asked to go on a road trip. Random, huh? John commented on my 101 Things blog after he read that I want to go on a road trip and invited me to go with him on the road for four months. If I wasn't a girl who's watched too much Law and Order:SVU and who didn't have a need for a regular job, that would sound pretty cool. But the entire time I'm thinking of horror stories and the simple possibility that my emailing him a thank you response is going to somehow give him all my computer's information and then I could either be a victim of identity theft or be violently stalked or murdered. Active imagination, I know. And John, if you're reading this; no offense. I really did mean everything I said in my reply to you.

I wish I could be cool like that and just go off with a random stranger. Can you imagine the stories you could tell if you lived your life so freely? Of course, if I was to do something like that, I would end up in a ditch somewhere just to spite me. Sigh.

Have I mentioned how much I hate diets? And being hungry? I think I have. Well, let me say it again. I HATE it. And this is only the first day. I have a feeling this is going to make me very cranky. I better damn well lose weight is all I have to say.

I am a complete chicken shit. I wish my mind wasn't going in twenty different directions. Or two main ones. I can't even send a fricking email. I've written it. Sent it to myself. But I can't send it to my sister. Not yet. Because she would know and I'm terrified of her knowing. Of anyone knowing. I need to be absolutely sure that it's what I want to do before I let anyone know. And I guess I'm just not sure yet. I wish I was because I figure by the time I'm ready, it will be too late.

Art of the Day: Sunrise Over Himalayan Foothills Seen From Poon Hill (Nepal) by Corey Wise

OMG! I got my first non spam comment today! I'm probably a little too excited about it but it felt kinda cool that someone had read my blog. Read it and not thought I was a raving lunatic as well. Go Me!

Sorry about the exceedingly short post yesterday. I literally spent almost all of my day reading Matt's blog. I read it backwards though so at times I was confused but seriously, the man is amazing. And loved his wife so very very much. Which just makes it all the worse to me. How many marriages are there out there where they aren't even happy, don't care about each other at all and are sticking together for all the wrong reasons; kids, money, just being so used to the way things were? And this one, this one that was so happy was ripped away far too soon. Guess that's the way it goes though. Life's unpredictable at the best of times. And damn chaotic at its worst.

Matt made a comment one day about how he used to be a cynic but with all the outpouring of love and gifts he's received from complete strangers, he's not so much of one anymore. He shows all the things he gets and the man has gotten so much from complete strangers. Or as he says, strangers friends. It truly is touching and makes me want to look at people differently. Better. Maybe I'm not as much of a cynic either.

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="500" caption="Mendenhall Glacier in Alaska"][/caption]

I wish I could travel more. Seeing pictures like my Art of the Day pic really make me want to see these things in person. I have been blessed. I've seen glaciers in Alaska and felt tiny in comparison to the majestically beautiful untouched mountains there. I've been to countless beaches and been on several cruises. I've climbed the waterfalls in Jamaica ...an experience I recommend to everyone. I've been to the Empire State Building and made friends with pigeons. I've swam in both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans (the Pacific is a little chilly). I've flown Delta enough times to know that if you fly with them, you will be going to the Atlanta airport ...even if your destination is Seattle.

But there is so much more I would love to see. I want to take a road trip to see the Redwoods. I want to go to Alaska again because it really made me feel that there is still a frontier, still untouched beauty on this Earth. I want to go to the Arctic and have to have a 'buddy' to check for frostbite. I want to go bungee jumping off a bridge with a river underneath me. I want to go to Ireland and stand on the cliffs. I want to walk through a castle. I want to go to Africa and see lions and elephants not in a zoo. I want to see Victoria Falls in person. I want to travel to third world countries giving aid and cry at the selfish life I've led. I want to see the Northern Lights.

But I don't want to do it alone. And unfortunately, I have no one to go with. They either can't afford it or have no interest in going. So, for now, I'm learning to be content with my shitty little town. I forget where I read it...a blog I think (I'm really getting into blogs lately), where a woman and her husband couldn't go anywhere on vacation for a while so they decided to be tourists in their own town. Going somewhere they'd never eaten, taking the requisite touristy pictures, and so forth. She said that it really felt like they were tourists. She was taking everything in more than she usually would and she had a blast. Maybe we should all do that.

That pic of Mendenhall? I've been there. It's not my pic but it brought back memories. While we (we being family) were there we were told how much it had shrunk over the years due to global warming. It was kind of shocking actually. It's gotten a lot smaller a lot quicker just the last few years as well. Two of my sisters (Marion and Lowen) and I took our own little hike while we were there. You see that patch of land close to the glacier? We walked there. I don't even know if we were supposed to because we were the only ones doing it but it was amazing. We saw what looked to be some kind of large animal tracks too which I was completely stoked about. We were gone quite a while and we started getting a little freaked that Mom would start wondering where we were. Nobody had cell phones with them, though we probably wouldn't have been able to get signal anyway. So Marion and I turned back so Mom wouldn't have a heart attack and Lowen went to the waterfall you can see in the pic and collected the fresh water in her water bottle. I wish I would have gone with her.

You know how I said I have a crappy memory? I did in a previous blog anyway. Well, to show you the extent of this bad memory, I rely on my phone for reminders. For everything. Get laundry out of washing machine and put into dryer. Check. Go to store to get the damn book you've been putting off for a week. Not check. Yet. I think I'm just a very distracted person. Whatever I'm doing, my whole mind goes into it and I completely lose track of time and the existence of other people. I wish I focused on work that well.

I hate to say I'm disappointed. Some old friends are in from out of town. I think they'll be here til Sunday. We're getting together tonight. I can be a reserved person if I'm not careful so I'm hoping that we'll have fun and things won't get awkward, like not having anything to talk about. I don't exactly have the most exciting life and Heidi doesn't exactly talk all that much. Anyway, I'm not disappointed that they are here. I'm disappointed because my life long best friend, Lanae, isn't coming too. I'm not exactly surprised she isn't coming but I am still disappointed about it. She's the negative one I've been talking about a little. Not that she doesn't have a lot that has gone wrong in the last year and thus plenty to be negative about. But my opinion is that people should try to make the best of their situation. Find something that makes you happy and don't dwell and complain about the bad stuff. It's hard to be around a constantly negative person and have it not affect you. I try to be super happy around her and fun but I tend to feed off other peoples emotions much easier than they seem to feed off mine. So typically after I hang with her, I'm just kind of sad for her negative state rather than happy for getting to hang with her. I need to work on changing the mood for the better. Anyway, Lanae makes me comfortable with other people. I hate that I'm a shy person and I try really hard to work on it with different people, but still, with Lanae around I am much more likely to be my normal self. So the fact that she's not going gets me antsy. She has date nights with her husband on Friday's. And they have a pretty tough marriage. It's been hard for them so I definitely think they should take every opportunity they have to work on it and be happy. But, saying that, they also hardly ever hang out with other people. It's not like they don't have other opportunities to have 'date night'. Yet, they won't hang out tonight with friends from out of town who will be leaving on Sunday. Thus, the disappointment. I know one of the main reasons is probably that Lanae and Heidi don't get along very well anymore. Mainly Lanae's doing because she tends to be pretty picky about people anymore. Sigh. Ok, sorry. I should stop complaining about her. I just really wish she was coming. I want all of us to have a good time. I have no idea what we're doing tonight but I hope it's fun because it's not like I get out all the time either.

Hannah's wedding is tomorrow. The people from out of town, Heidi and Darrien, are here for the wedding. Darrien is the brother of Hannah's fiance, Damon. So I'll either have a big post wedding post or a very meager pre-wedding post tomorrow.

Later same day...

Guess what?! I got a new book. It's The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Here's the words used to ensnare me written on the back of the book: "A father and his son walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. It is cold enough to crack stones, and when the snow falls it is gray. The sky is dark. Their destination is the coast, although they don't know what, if anything, awaits them there. They have nothing; just a pistol to defend themselves against the lawless bands that stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food - and each other.

"The Road is the profoundly moving story of a journey. It boldly imagines a future in which no hope remains, but in which the father and his son, 'each the others world entire,' are sustained by love. Awesome in the totality of its vision, The Road is an unflinching meditation on the worst and best that we are capable of: ultimate destructiveness, desperate tenacity, and the tenderness that keeps two people alive in the face of total devastation."

I'm hopeful. I like a good post apocalyptic story. The study of human nature and how people are affected by things. So I think it will be good.

Also, in important news of the day, their was a funeral had for my faithful ponytail holder. It was overcome with old age, stretched past it's limits, and went peacefully to its silver trashcan grave. May it rest in peace. New ponytail holder is wrapped snugly around my wrist where it will be a pretty permanent feature. And when I say snugly, I mean it's cutting off my circulation. No worries though. Soon enough it will be stretched and broken and one step closer to its own gleaming grave.

Well, Heidi never called me tonight. Or at least hasn't yet. They had a rehearsal to go to for Damon and Hannah's wedding so they most likely forgot. Either that or I was wrong and she doesn't have my current cell number. Guess I'll find out tomorrow at the wedding. I'm kind of hoping she doesn't call tonight cuz it's not late late but its late-ish and I don't really feel like leaving the house now.

GASP! I just realized that a new episode of Stargate: Atlantis is coming on tonight! Squeal! Ubergeek excitement here! AND I still haven't had the chance to watch Michael Shanks pull out his crazy man best on Burn Notice yet. ---And those comments right there, friends, are why I feel we Americans are royally screwed in our heads. Sometimes it just really weirds me out that all of us sit in our homes and watch other people live 'life' instead of going out and living ourselves.

They're playing Daedalus Variations right now before the new episode. I wasn't very impressed with the look of the alternate reality aliens. They kind of looked like an ugly half Wraith/half Frankenstein with random robotic parts. I guess I just thought they could have looked more ...different. A different color maybe instead of the greenish blueish look. Oh well. I don't like to complain about the show because I get irrational tendencies to dislike people who I read complaining about the show. And I'd really rather not dislike Me.

LOL. Ronon's so funny in his lack of computer skills. And John, praising himself....good stuff.

Rodney - "Watch out, they wiggle." rotflmao

I guess I'm going to turn out for the rest of the night so I can get my geek on. To end all, here's the video of the day:

So this week on Burn Notice, there’s a new character: Victor, who works for the same organizat

So this week on Burn Notice, there's a new character: Victor, who works for the same organization as Carla. He's even more annoying than Carla, and his approach is much more forceful. Maybe the organization thinks that Michael has had too much information on Carla, they decided to introduce Michael to a wrangler. They gave Michael a cellphone, which of course has GPS device planted on it. Knowing that Michael would peek around, they left a note to Michael saying not to disturb the GPS

This week's side job is to help Michael's old friend's brother. He's an accountant who's framed for stealing money from a hip-hop mogul. This time, Michael pretended to be a money launderer to catch Eddie, the criminal. When Michael was working his charm, Victor came and ruined the plan, causing Michael to make plan B. I'm glad that the writer put a new character on the show, although I don't like him, which is actually good because it means that the guy did a great job acting. :P

Subiectul? Trailer aici.

Trailer aici.

Trailer aici. Grad de recomandare: 9.

5) "Day Break" - serial politist foarte captivant de 13 episoade.

I'm kind of a busy guy, between working, playing in a band, and writing for you fine people, I don't get a lot of time watch T.V. Thank god for Tivo. Not only will it save your life (watch Tropical Thunder), but it will also allow you to watch TV shows no matter what time your are home. Right now your thinking "I know that Dr. Awesome". So on to my real point.

I know Macgyver was making sweet, sweet love to Awesome in the 80's, but did that love produce and Macgyver/Awesome offspring?

Burn Notice. That's Right Burn Notice. It's the best show on TV. Here is the rundown. Michael Westen (good name....I know right) Was a spy. He got Burned (Fired) and now lives in Miami, Fl. not Miami, AZ for those of you wondering. Westen (that's what I call him) isn't saving a town with the population of 1,841 (according to wikipedia and the 2006 census). So he runs around Miami with his crew (That's what I call them) Fiona (Westen's ex) and Sam (ex Navy SEAL).

As the people who burned Westen (we don't know who they really are) make him do crazy jobs for them, he also helps out regular joes in Miami. He often does Jobs for free because he has a very strong sense of right and wrong. Just like his father Macgyver... OK. OK. Macgyver is not Westens dad, But wouldn't that be a awesome plot twist... I think Richard Dean Anderson (R.D.A. to friends like me) is free. Isn't he does with Stargate?

I know what you are thinking, "How is a show about a fired spy, and a show about a Canadian super hero alike"? well I will tell you. Just like in Macgyver Westen helps out those less fortunate than himself. Often helping out his family and friends of his family. He also makes crazy things (i.e. Bugs and X ray machines) out of things like cell phones, old TV's, and PVC pipe. Now try to tell me that is not Macgyver-like.

So Check out Burn Notice. It's on the U.S.A. Network. You'll be glad you did.

Awesome out

P.S. this is a trailer for the show. tell me you don't love this...

I think I'm going to go online to look for a book today because I seem to have an apparent inability to make it to a book store this week. Though I really hate the idea of looking for books online. Not exactly sure why. I just feel I'd be more likely to pick a book I wouldn't end up liking online. Anybody have a recommendation?

Ack! I just realized that Burn Notice comes on tonight. Normally, I don't watch this show but Michael Shanks is going to be on tonight and he plays a super crazy guy. And as any fan of Stargate knows, Michael does crazy well. So I'm looking forward to his episodes that he's doing for Burn Notice. I did a little 'prescreening' of the show to see what it was like and it's pretty funny. The main guy, forgive me I don't know his real name, is from another show I used to watch forever ago. I like him. They shoot it in a really unique way too. I like the way that the character, Michael, does voice over's throughout each episode.

I have nothing else to say but to recommend the reading of another blog. One that has truly touched me and countless others. http://www.mattlogelin.com/ He is inspirational and I wish Matt and Madeline the best.
