These stories make me sad. Another senior has gone missing in the neighborhood. With the weather being unbearable during these dog days of summer I'm sure her family is worried sick.

MYFOXNY.COM -- The family of a missing woman are asking for the public's help. Jeanne Burke has been missing since July 17, her family said. She was possibly spotted two days later in front of the Pathmark supermarket on 125th Street and Lexington Avenue in Harlem.

Burke, 79, has Alzheimer's disease but will respond to her name. She is 5 feet tall with long gray hair (possibly in a pony tail), and was last seen wearing a solid navy shirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers.

The family has offered a reward for Burke's safe return. If anyone has any information on her whereabouts they can call 646-372-6510, 718-810-6176 or 845-527-0172.

This is actually going to be 2 pictures. The first one is when Burke was about 1- 1/2...he'd just "moussed" his hair up with some pear juice at lunch time.

[caption id="attachment_182" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Pear Juice Mousse"][/caption]

The second one was taken last week. I'd just put Aquaphor onto Logan's head to try to combat some cradle crap cap. Burke took one look and said "Logan's a Dinosaur! ROAR!" LOL

[caption id="attachment_183" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="DinoLogan"][/caption]

I posted both because the similarities are just crazy! When I took Logan's picture, I was immediately reminded of the pear juice mousse - but I hadn't gone back to look at it until right now.

I was quite amused by some of the stories that made news last week

July 17, 2008

By Tammy R. Lawson

I was quite amused by some of the stories that made news last week-two in particular.

First, District Attorney Mary Lacy of Boulder, Colorado, sent a two-page letter to John Ramsey about his murdered daughter, JonBenet, stating, "...we do not consider your immediate family including you, your wife, Patsy, and your son, Burke, to be under any suspicion in the commission of this crime."

Was that not a noble gesture? It's been 12 years since JonBenet died, and Patsy expired two years ago due to ovarian cancer at the age of 49.

While attending junior high school and growing up in the same town as she, I viewed a photo in the newspaper of Miss Paugh being crowned supreme at the state's pageant competition; her daughter's face later clichéd that of the hometown girl an entire state was proud of, even if she did wear too much eyeliner.

That family could have been cleared years ago; DNA evidence was found on the girl that didn't match any family member. In a court of law, that would have been reasonable doubt any defense lawyer could have toyed with just for fun.

But since a court of law was never assembled, a court of public opinion (fueled by unscrupulous journalists reporting innuendo close to the case as factual truth) did so while the district attorney's office and police stood idly by. Public officials knew they mishandled the case from hour one and needed a scapegoat.

At least the office finally apologized, and some would quip they are the sorriest.

How treacherous it was to watch the family's demise, but at least the living can take solace in knowing Patsy Paugh Ramsey died with her character fully intact. There are those living in Boulder who can't even claim that.

Now, here's a piece of friendly advice:

If you are using a microphone in a public forum and do not have complete control of the on/off switch, beware, for you never know who is listening.

Having written that, Jesse Jackson should have known better. Not realizing his mic was on, the modern-day quote maker himself whispered vulgar things during a Fox News program about wanting to cut off parts of Barack Obama's manmade anatomy, and according to the media outlet, we have yet to hear the worst.

Maybe the reverend should rephrase his infamous quote accordingly: "Keep hope alive, and bring me a knife!"

In the same breath, he accused the fellow Chicagoan of "talking down to black folks" by giving moral lectures to African Americans. Oh, the irony.

Jackson could easily be paralleled for his remarks and this was a prime instance of practicing what he doth not preach. After all, Jackson ran for president twice during the Democratic presidential primary in 1984 and again in 1988, so instead of demeaning his fellow man, realizing that he may have helped pave the way for the first black American to possibly be the next leader of the United States might fair him better.

Jackson once said, "If my mind can conceive it and my heart can believe it, I know I can achieve it." If so, the next time he hypocritically dines with the presidential candidate, secret service will be removing all sharp objects from the table as Obama sports a cup holding something other than coffee.

Edmund Burke, the 19th century British statesman and writer, is something of a patron saint to conservative intellectuals- the same people who spent countless hours arguing about whether the war was a good idea, the same people who largely decided that it was. So I was quite surprised to realize that I've never heard this question asked before.

Burke's most celebrated book, Reflections on the Revolution in France, put forward the most basic conservative idea- that human institutions have evolved as they have for good reasons, and even seemingly unjust and arbitrary institutions should be changed gradually rather than completely overthrown. It is not obvious why overthrowing a government and trying to rebuild a country from the ground up is a better idea in the Iraq of 2003 than it was in the France of 1789. There are arguments to be made, of course, for why this time is different; but, by and large, they were not made. The problem was ignored.

Less famously, Burke was a leading anti-imperialist of his time, advocating a lighter hand in Ireland and India, and supporting the American revolutionaries. He was not a man to easily support the occupation of another nation.

This is the problem with having dead heroes. When they would agree with you, you take comfort in the fact and proclaim it. But when their condemnation should ring loud and clear, we do our best to silence their nagging voice. When people we claim to respect cannot speak with their own voice, we must remember their words, whether they are convenient for us or not. This sort of intellectual honesty, practiced widely, could have made for some very different recent history.

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Brian Burke says he will abide by the NHL's request to end his criticism of Kevin Lowe and the Edmonton Oilers, but the Anaheim Ducks general manager still had plenty to say Thursday.

In a careful, measured statement, Burke said he had no intention of defying the league but did address some of Lowe's recent stinging comments about three of his players and his hockey market.

"There is no question in our mind or defiance about the league's authority here," Burke said in the statement first read to Ducks beat writers on a conference call and then posted on the NHL club's website. "We accept their authority to stop this and we intend to stop it.

"However, several things were said last Friday that I believe need to be addressed."

On Monday, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman took the rare step of stepping between the two, warning them both during a conference call that they would face significant fines if they didn't end their war of words.

Oilers spokesman J.J. Hebert said Thursday that the team would comply.

"We will be respecting the league's request and will not be discussing this matter any further," he said.

The public feud between the two general managers has been going on for a year.

Burke criticisms of Lowe began last July after the Oilers made a US$21.25-million, five-year offer sheet to restricted free agent Dustin Penner and the Ducks did not match it. Burke has repeatedly blamed Lowe and the Penner offer sheet for spiralling salaries on young restricted free agents.

Lowe finally shot back at Burke last Friday during an interview on Edmonton radio station The Team 1260.

On Thursday, Burke responded to some of those comments.

The Anaheim GM took offence to Lowe's assertion that "he's in a pathetic hockey market where they can't get on any page of the newspaper let alone the front page of the sports... ."

Burke, whose team won the Stanley Cup last year, said his club has nothing to be defensive about or apologize for.

"More important, we believe our fan base is as supportive, as rabid and as loyal as any fan base in pro sports, not just in the National Hockey League," he said. "We've played to 77 straight sellouts. I believe that is the third-best string in the NHL."

Burke went on to say that no one can question the "commitment, support and loyalty" of Ducks fans and that the team has succeeded in attracting fans in a crowded sports market.

Burke also focused on star winger Corey Perry, who recently signed a US$26.625-million, five-year contract and also was mentioned by Lowe last week.

"Anaheim has decent players - Corey Perry is a hell of a player," Lowe told the radio station. "What I really want to say about his (Burke's) bickering about parity and the salary cap is if you're unhappy about them, then trade him (Perry) our way, we'll be glad to have him."

Burke has asked the league to consider tampering charges against Lowe.

"It is our understanding that clubs are not entitled to express interest in the services of a player belonging to another NHL organization," said Burke. "Our understanding is that such an expression of interest constitutes tampering. We have asked the league to investigate whether a tampering episode has taken place."

Lowe also referred to Ducks prospect Bobby Ryan as a "questionable pick" at No. 2 overall in the 2005 NHL entry draft.

Burke called Ryan a "wonderful young prospect."

"I think for Bobby Ryan to have been dragged into this in any way or criticized in any way goes outside what we believe the treatment of players should receive."

Burke was also offended by Lowe's comments about veteran Ducks defenceman Scott Niedermayer.

"Don't even ask me about Scott Niedermayer," Lowe said in the interview. "I've already lowered myself in terms of (talking about) how they acquired him. That's a story for another day ..."

Burke says there was nothing fishy about the way the Ducks acquired Niedermayer.

"We signed Scott Niedermayer as a free agent in the summer of 2005," said the Ducks GM. "There were no allegations of impropriety of any kind at that time. Now an impression has been created that there was impropriety. We have asked the National Hockey League to conduct a full investigation into the signing of Scott Niedermayer. Once they have done so, we expect to be exonerated of any misconduct and then we expect the league to act appropriately."

One of my favorite fotos is when Burke asked to hold Logan for the first time.

(About two seconds after this was taken, Burke decided he'd had enough and "let go" - and this was before Logan had learned how to sit on his own! ACK!)

Summer is a rebirth of nature, which leads to sweating, then thirst, then BEER!
That said, what may

Summer is a rebirth of nature, which leads to sweating, then thirst, then BEER!

That said, what may be an all-around quality beer may not be conducive to the season. Sure, a dark ale like Schlafly Reserve or 1554 may taste great and belong among the upper pantheon of brews. But if you're looking for refreshment from the weight of the humid summer air, beers that are also hefty in hops may not exactly quench your thirst. In fact, drinking a heavy beer in the summer can be felt as the equivalent of wearing your favorite kick-ass winter coat on a 95-degree day. You know you're dealing with quality, but you feel like hell and even more vulnerable to the elements. Plus, you look like a moron.

At the same time, you don't want to go TOO light. If you're a fan of hoppier beers from brewers like Samuel Adams and Guinness, the last thing you want to do is sacrifice taste in the name of refreshment with sterile lighter-than-air "beer" like Miller Lite and the dreaded gag-inducing Keystone Light that was great in college but, now that you have a little cash, tastes like carbonated bile.

So, if you're looking for something to refresh you from the dead-air Midwest heat AND impress you with taste, here are my recommendations in this summer of 2008:

* Samuel Adams Summer Ale. Besides its obvious name, this blend of wheat beer and sweet spices will leave you refreshed, yet still wanting more. It's light enough to cool you down and tasty enough to make you want to get a nice buzz.

* Schlafly No. 15. This is actually a more traditionally autumn beer and can be a bit hard to find in the summer months. But why is beyond me. This beer is the equivalent of, if ever possible, drinking a clove cigarette - it's got a nice bite to it, but is still DAMN tasty. Wheaty, spicy . . .in my opinion, damn near perfect. While Schlafly tries to sell Summer Kolsch this time of year and it's worthy as well, go straight for the best. Go for No. 15.

* Blue Moon. OK, OK. I know this is perhaps the most love/hate beer in the entire region. I've heard some rave about its light yet flavorful finish. I've heard others say it tastes like hair spray. Count me in among its fans. Blue Moon is a summertime staple that stands as one of only two or three beers in the whole world where it's OK to put a slice of fruit - preferably an orange slice - in it.

* Bud Light Lime. For a guy like me who LOVES fullness and flavor in my beer, I have to say I was pleasantly shocked by Bud Light Lime. With just the right hint of lime that's neither overbearing nor barely there and washed down with smooth, good ol' dependable and cheap-in-a-pinch Bud Light, it's soothing and with a pleasant aftertaste - which is rare for Budweiser. Definitely worth a six-pack. But it gets old quickly, so don't buy a 12-pack. Still, check it out. It's refreshing in small doses. Great outdoor concert beer.

* Schlafly Pilsner. I admit it. I'm a Schlafly junkie. But if you're at a bar this summer and they don't serve No. 15, order Pilsner. Smooth yet bitter, it's light enough for a cooldown but full enough to let you know that you're not drinking wimpy brew. For a guy who doesn't normally like pilsners, this is good.

And of course no list would be complete without telling you what to STAY AWAY FROM.

*Landshark. This "easy-drinking" salty lager tastes like a beach bum pissed in a bottle. Hmmm. Maybe that's why Landshark is sponsoring Jimmy Buffett's tour this summer. Say no to Jimmy Buffett. And say HELL NO to Landshark.

Since I don't want to embarrass the name of any other beer with that of Landshark, I'll leave the stay-away list at that alone.

Sure, some will tell you that drinking alcohol in the hot summer sun will dehyrdate you.

But I say it gives you a quicker buzz, which makes you feel good and also saves money on perhaps that extra beer or two that you might have bought to achieve said buzz.

That said, drink AND think. While these beers are my personal favorites for the summer season, they can leave you less than sober. So use either moderation or other transportation.

Any way around it, DRINK UP! It's too damn hot!

This is one of Burke's favorite foods, but the recipe made it on the blog for Mike.

Sauce:

Two large cans of tomato sauce

One small can of tomato paste

One-two tomatoes, diced

One-half yellow onion, minced (Burke doesn't like onions, so I mince - chopped is better)

Two garlic cloves, minced

One handful of chopped basil (get fresh, tastes better)

One-half handful of oregano, chopped

One tsp. salt

Two tsp. sugar

Red pepper flakes, to taste

One-third cup of red wine (merlot is good, cabernet will also work)

One pound ground round, cooked

One-half pound ground sausage, rolled into balls, cooked

One-half to one-third box of cooked wheat spag noodles, sit aside with two pats butter and minced garlic

24 ounces of shredded Mozzerella, Provel and Parm cheese

Saute the garlic and onion in butter for a minute or two, do not over cook.

Place the sauce and tomatoes in a large sauce pan over low heat with all spices and sugar. Add the garlic, onion and wine, simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Make sure to taste to see if anything else is needed. You may need more basil and oregano. I always do.

Add hamburger meat. Turkey burger also tastes great. Add sausage balls if desired.

Simmer 10-20 minutes, stirring frequently. Add pepper, if desired. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Add noodles to sauce and stir, coating each noodle. There should be plenty of sauce to spare. Pour the mixture into a baking dish. I like to use a lasagna pan for this because the sides are high. Cover the entire top of the noodles with a thick layer of cheese. Sprinkle minced garlic, basil and oregano over cheese lightly, if desired.

Bake 30 minutes or until cheese is melted and turning golden brown.

Great with my bacon wrapped-basil green beans and a salad.

Ever have the gumption to get out and try something new only to find out it was a complete waste of

Ever have the gumption to get out and try something new only to find out it was a complete waste of time and money? Here's one such precautionary tale.

Arla and I decided on this past Fourth of July to shop around and find some place new to eat afterward. We suddenly remembered that Ozzie's Restaurant & Sports Bar was only a few miles down the highway at Westport Plaza.

For those of you who don't know, although I believe it's borderline blasphemy that you wouldn't, Ozzie's is the restaurant of former St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith. I grew up worshiping the Wizard of Oz and had even went to his restaurant as a kid with my family. But being that I was 10 years old at the time and my undeveloped taste buds would have probably liked anything so long as it had ketchup, my memories of the place were fond. So fond in fact that I believed it would be a worthwhile visit. Surely not too much has changed in the last 18 years, I thought.

Well, let me you tell this. Eating at Ozzie's is kind of like the prospect of the 53-year-old shortstop making a comeback to Major League Baseball — intriguing enough to get your attention, but overall a massive failure.

I'll begin with our waitress. She served Arla a Bud Select that tasted all too much like a Bud Light. Either that or the tap was EXTREMELY flat.

She then proceeded to wait MORE THAN AN HOUR to give us our food - a burger and fries along with a sandwich and fries. Being that it was the afternoon of Fourth of July and we were one of probably five tables that were seated in the whole place, this was inexcusable.

As for the food itself, the burger was all too perfectly round and processed — a clear give-away that Ozzie's food is prepackaged. If I wanted prepackaged food, I'd eat in a cafeteria. And because our waitress was too busy accosting a 5-year-old boy behind us for apparently ordering the wrong order and otherwise disappearing for various 15-minute spans at a time, the food was beyond cold.

The only reason to go to Ozzie's is for the decor, which includes all of Ozzie Smith's Gold Gloves from his career and other awards as well as photos of Ozzie posed at the restaurant with sports stars ranging from Michael Jordan to Whitey Herzog. It's a kick seeing all of those old photos.

But if you want to feel as if you've been kicked in the stomach, then Ozzie's food is for you.

If you're in St. Louis and you have a drive to dine, don't drive to Ozzie's.

If you don't believe me, I give you the below photo. Ozzie's food will make you flip. But NOT in a good way.

Burke asks for the same thing every year on his birthday and it is always this really easy recipe. Perfect in a pinch!

• One box of graham crackers

• One-two boxes of instant French Vanilla pudding

• Milk (for pudding)

• One tub of milk chocolate frosting (see why this is easy)

• One cup of semi-sweet chocolate chunks, melted

Line a 9x9 (or 9x13) pan (I use a glass pan) with graham crackers. Break the crackers at the perforated edges and line to cover the entire bottom of the pan.

Make the instant pudding according to the package.

Pour a layer of pudding over the crackers. Line more graham crackers on top of the pudding and keep doing so until you reach the top of the dish. Make your layers thin.

Once you reach the top, line graham crackers over the top of the pudding. Spoon the chocolate frosting over the graham crackers. Then poor the melted chocolate over the frosting. Refrigerate for one hour before serving to allow the melted chocolate to harden.

Cut with a knife to serve. This sounds so easy and it is. It is soooo good.

[wp_caption id="attachment_27" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="This can be made in a 9x9 or 9x13 pan."][/wp_caption]

Edmonton Oilers general manager Kevin Lowe tore into Brian Burke on Friday when he made an appearance on Edmonton's Team 1260 radio station.

The two executives have been at odds since last year when Lowe made a five-year, $21.25 million offer sheet to Group II restricted free agent Dustin Penner that was not matched by Burke.

"Where do I begin?," started Lowe. "He's a moron, first of all. Secondly, he really believes that any news for the NHL is good news. Thirdly, he loves the limelight and I don't think anyone in hockey will dispute that. Lastly, he's in a pathetic hockey market where they can't get on any page of the newspaper let alone the front page of the sports, so any of this stuff carries on."

"I mean, if he wants to debate what our offer sheet did to them or to the salaries, anytime," he explained to Team 1260. "The reality is, Rick Nash's contract a number of years ago, and (Patrice) Bergeron's and (Ilya) Kovalchuk's; that sets the standard - that's been going on for decades. I'm sick and tired of it. I know everybody in hockey is. I know our peers are like, 'well, that's Burkie.' This guy is an absolute media junkie and I guess he's achieving what he wants because he gets his name in the headlines. But I hate the fact that my name is linked to his. He's an underachieving wanna-be in terms of success in the NHL. He won a Stanley Cup? Great. I've won six Stanley Cups, you want to count rings? Who cares, it's just a little pathetic that he carries on."

After repeatedly getting hit in the media by Burke over the past year, the rivalry peaked Wednesday when the Ducks signed their restricted free agent Corey Perry to a five-year extension worth $26.63 million. Burke then blamed Lowe for eliminating the middle contract between the entry-level deal and the big free agency contract normally received when a player has proven himself.

"I remember Dean Lombardi last summer saying to me, 'You guys are (just) putting this on, you're not really feeling this way. The NHL likes this stuff, they want to create a little angst in the media and stuff and get some headlines?'" recalled Lowe.

"I said, 'No Dean, this is real.' He was shocked that this was going on but Burkie loves the limelight. He's all bluff and loud and Mac T (head coach Craig MacTavish) said it best... he's like the Wizard of Oz, you pull the curtains away and there's not much substance."

Lowe then took a shot at Burke's past dealings as head of the Vancouver Canucks.

"Here's a fact - he left (former Canucks GM) Dave Nonis nothing in Vancouver," he explained. "Nothing. He destroyed that team. If it wasn't for Dave Nonis' incredible deals to con Mike Keenan to get Luongo in Vancouver that team was taking a nose dive two years ago."

"I mean, that's his M.O., but no one says anything. He goes into Anaheim and he inherits an incredible team. He gets Chris Pronger - not because of our relationship, it just so happened we had five or six teams and targeted their assets. As I recall at the time, we had Florida, Anaheim, Philadelphia, San Jose... and Los Angeles. He just happened to throw enough assets our way to get the player. Kudos to him. He recognizes that at the end of the day, you throw enough assets, you get the best player and you get a good deal. You never know in this business if you're going to win at the end of the day. I mean he could have just decimated the franchise forever. I'll tell you this, they have not much coming. Bobby Ryan has been a questionable pick at No. 2 (overall in 2005), and up until this recent draft, they did a nice job of trying to replenish their depth chart. They had nothing coming, and that appears to be his M.O."

"Don't even ask me about Scott Niedermayer, I've already lowered myself in terms of (talking about) how they acquired him," he said. "That's all another story for another day, but they were able to bring Niedermayer and Pronger in and they won a Stanley Cup."

"Anaheim has decent players - Corey Perry is a hell of a player," he said. "What I really want to say about his bickering about parity and the salary cap is if you're unhappy about them, then trade him (Perry) our way, we'll be glad to have him."

Yep tonight we also see the second of the third part episode. Can't wait to see if Meredith is found, or what is up with that little girl. To re-cap what happened in the first of the three partner, click HERE.

******CONTAINS SPOILERS******

This episode starts with the view of the water where we last saw Meredith falling into, we see her briefly surface gasping for air, but finally sinks again. She is also the voice over for the beginning speech. Alex is feeling overwhelmed dealing with the victims families, all wanting to know if they are in the hospital, but everyone is anxious as the lack of identification only creates more frustration for the family. In the light of this, Alex comes up with the spontaneous idea of taking pictures of the patients, but even this doesn't satisfy the families, as they still complain their loved ones are not up on the identification board. A man comes up to Alex unable to locate his pregnant wife. Alex rushes to inform Addison that their pregnant patient may have a identity. Addison states that Alex must thoroughly make sure that this pregnant lady is definitely the mans wife, to avoid giving hope to the man if she isn't.

George continues to lie to the patient, who he promised to locate her son, in order to get her to agree to surgery. Bailey becomes furious at this, by telling him he has made a promise that he doesn't know if he can keep, and sends him to find the boy. George looks in the hospital, everywhere he can think of, until he bumps into Alex who takes him to the morgue. George still can't find the boy, even in the morgue, but they do stumble upon a body of a pregnant lady. George finally checks the OR board as a final resort, only to find out that his wife is operating upon a little boy. Callie confirms to George this is the boy he is looking for, and George goes on to embarrass them both when he informs the entire OR what he is going to do to Callie that night. Callie cuts him off, and tells him she is working.

Alex brings a photo of his pregnant woman patient, maintaining that her injuries may make her a little unrecognisable, but the man states this isn't his wife. He secondly shows him the photo of the morgue patient, and the man confirms that the photo is his wife, and collapses in a fit of tears. Alex finds Addison and says that their pregnant lady is still a Jane Doe. Leading Addison to question would anyone notice if she was to disappear, and Alex says he would.

Izzie is at the end with her patience, while dealing with the patient trapped under the car. She calls the Chief for instructions. Mark and the Chief talk Izzie through the procedure of making burr holes (holes in a patients skull to relieve the cranium pressure) with a ordinary drill. I have seen this in real life, it is amazing procedure to watch. Izzie does it successful, and her patient is finally transported to the hospital, and is let in the OR to perform a crainotomy by making burr holes, with a surgical drill. The Chief also informs her she is finally off probation.

Cristina is still suturing patients, awaiting Meredith's return to inform her about her engagement. Cristina worries when all the other interns return, bar Meredith, and no-one knows where she is. Burke questions Cristina where she is so anxious to tell Meredith their news, and she tells him Meredith is "her" person, and it also makes their news official.

Merediths patient is located by rescue workers, but still she is nowhere to be found. Derek finds the little girl, who he saw following Meredith earlier, and asks her where Meredith is. Silently she points to the water, and with that Derek rushes into it, and finds her pale and not breathing. He performs CPR on route to the hospital, but there is no still no response from her.

Derek is told by the Chief to leave the trauma room, while the Chief, Burke and Addison work together to try and save Meredith, with Derek waiting outside, with Mark next to him. Mark puts his hands on Derek, to give him support. Aww how sweet.

All the interns are told about Meredith and rush to the trauma room. Cristina tries to go inside, but Izzie stops her, and states Meredith will survive this, as Izzie believes in the good; that Denny is always with her and George getting married to Callie, was a massive mistake.

Meredith finally flat lines, and we see her sit upright gasping for air. She is in a empty room, and sees Dylan Young (the guy who was blown up while undetonating the shell in a previous episode) and goes on to ask him if she is dead. Denny states she is.

It sounds like another unmissable episode, so don't forget to tune in tonight to watch it.

A little late to the party but injecting a word in here anyway - boy I've been gone long time!

Anyway - it sucks that South Africa is "sleeping" on the whole issue. Our president is smart, very smart - one then has to think as to why he has not taken the necessary steps to make sure that things go well in that country. Many of us are speculating that there are alterior motives here.

Yes indeed - Mugabe has lost his marbles, and to make matters worse, he's not the only one affected but scores of people are, where their human rights are being taken away from them. The violence taking place there has both been shocking and disgusting. But hey, it is after all the last days and things are panning out the way it was said they would.

The MDC puts it well when it says ZANU PF has lost it, headlines today say the party has told the West to "go hang"-BBC - the irony here is that ZANU - PF is securing a very tight noose around it's own neck.

But then again... who is it that said - ‘All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing’...? Ahh, it is that wise man Edmund Burke

I am wondering what the Leafs are building here
The thoughts that come to mind is maybe they are
trying to build a tough team like Philadelphia
Flyers, Boston Bruins, or hold on to your hat,
the Anaheim Ducks. Sort of like the style that
Brian Burke would build. Is there another Brian
Burke connection? Here is a look at the players
that the Toronto Maple Leafs drafted in the
2008 NHL Entry Draft:

1. D—Luke Schenn

Team: Kelowna Rockets (Western Hockey League)
2007-08 Stats: 57 GP – 7 G – 21 A – 28 P
Shoots: Right - Height: 6’2” - Weight: 216 lbs
Birthdate: Nov. 2, 1989
Hometown: Saskatoon, Sask.
NHL CSS Ranking: Fifth (North American skaters)

“He’s the best defensive defenceman in the draft
and probably the best in over a decade, maybe two
decades,” said Grant McCagg, publisher of the
McKeen’s Hockey Draft Guide. “I can’t think of
the last guy that came out of the draft that’s
as good defensively right now as Luke Schenn is.”

“A big guy that plays a robust game,” a WHL coach
explained. “He makes every player on the ice
honest out there because he can stiffen you up
at any time. He’s solid defensively and I think
he’s gotten better as an offensive defenceman.
Really reliable, competes hard and brings it every
shift. Real character guy. You can see the other
players on his team look up to him.”

“The physical presence is top of the heap,” McCagg
said. “Great positionally, very good defensive
instincts, highly competitive and he’s not afraid
of anything out there. He’s going to be a shut
down defenceman for 15 years on your team.”

2. RW—Jimmy Hayes
Shoots: R—6’5”, 210 lbs Lincoln
(USHL) CSS: 63 (N.A.-S)

It will be really interesting how these draft
pics pan out. I don’t think they will all make
the Toronto Maple Leafs this year but I would
think their first pick Luke Schenn (5th overall)
should make the Leafs out of training camp.

In a previous pose (HERE) I told you I was extremely disappointed with the new series of Grey's Anatomy. Since then it has improved to a state where I am eagerly awaiting Thursday nights, just so I can see what happens. Now I have reached fever pitch, with this three-partner starting tonight, I can not wait. It sounds so amazing, I can't put into words lol. You must must watch it. Tonight on channel 5, the first of a three-parter of Grey's Anatomy will begin "Walk on Water."

*********CONTAINS SPOILERS********

This episodes opens with Meredith submerged in the bathtub, although she denies to Derek that this was a suicide attempt. While Cristina tells Burke that she doesn't want their engagement to be announced publicly just yet, until she has given the news to Meredith. When Cristina goes to tell Meredith, she is unable to find the words, as Meredith is cranky. While Burke tells Derek, while being overheard by Mark breaking the news. As the news spreads it upsets Cristina, who is pulled off a surgery by Burke, and is told to go and suture in the Pit.

The Chief dyes his hair, and his male attendings mock him. While Addisons tell them to quit it, she confides in the Chief that after Derek left her she also dyed her hair blond. Another resident (Sydney) announces her plans to run for Chief Resident in the dismay of both Callie and Bailey. Callie is further annoyed by George's treatment of her while they are at work, even though she is his superior.

The Chief announces there is a mass casualty incident; a ferry boat has collided with a container ship in the Bay, and sends the interns out to go and help. Cristina is left behind, much to her annoyance, to assist with the incoming wounded patients.

Prior to this the interns were practicing their triage drills, which Izzie has failed on before going out. She attended to a male patient who is pinned under cars, who is being watched by his friends. Izzie isn't able to do much as he must be removed first, but is being put under pressure by his friends, and then he starts seizing from the extent of his injuries. Izzie is left with the feeling of helplessness.

George attends to a woman with stomach injuries, who refuses all medical treatment until she can find her son. George promises to find him, and she leaves for the hospital. He is unable to locate him, and when she needs urgent surgery she again refuses till he is found.

Alex attends to a pregnant woman who is trapped under a pylon. Alex pulls this off her and transports her back to the hospital, whilst keeping her alive. When in the hospital, the Chief pulls Alex off his patients surgery to be replaced by Cristina. Alex visits this patient before her surgery, and warns her he is going to check on her after her surgery, and she better be alive; Addison witnesses this moment.

Meredith attempts to save lives, but a little girl becomes very attached to her and follows her around, although she refuses to communicate with her. Meredith sees an injured man at the harbour side, and rushes to help him, with the little girl still following her. This man knocks Meredith into the harbour water, and is witnessed by this little girl. The episode ends with the little girl in silence walking away from the accident scene, with a shot cut to the water, with no sign of Meredith.

This episode sounds brilliant, can't wait to watch it. I would suggest any fans of this series defo check this out.

Cathy, Cathy, Cathy. These Jib Jab sessions are going to be the death of me
Here’s the first

Cathy, Cathy, Cathy. These Jib Jab sessions are going to be the death of me :)

Here's the first one sent today:

http://www.jibjab.com/sendables/share_view/8R3oBuRQQKURzEyj5ahybsve

Yup. those are MY kids breakdancing. LOL!! I made the mistake of opening it in front of Burke. . . so he was sitting here watching it with me. "Burke dancing!" pause. "Maggie dancing!" pause. "Logan dancing!!" He loved it. I think I had to replay it about 14 times before the only thing that would tear him away was some pizza. AND after the pizza, he came back over to me and said "I need more Burke." It took me a second to realize that he meant he wanted to see "himself" dancing some more. I finally gave up and showed him how to push the mouse button to replay it himself. I have no idea how many times...

THEN comes THIS one:

http://www.jibjab.com/sendables/share_view/cORhDFrsv7RtZ7vxjL16vcCw

Sharon and Jason. Totally fits - in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they were the ones to dance for the original video *grin* (although, the models are kinda pasty white...)

Burke liked that one too, but not as much as watching himself. He did request one of Grandpa though...Cathy? ;)
