So to my point. Themed products. Do they sell better? Again, I think so. Who doesn't love to look at the beautifully extravagant tiaras for weddings or those adorable reindeer pins that have noses that blink for Christmas (even if you don't wear them, you secretly love them don't you?). A cowboy themed outfit for a baby boy complete with boots and instead of a 10 gallon hat, a 10 ounce hat.

How do I incorporate a theme in a product like nursing necklaces? Oh you just wait and see. I've got Halloween, fall and Christmas themes up my sleeve. Many moms who buy my necklaces are for their little angels that are having a tough time keeping them focused on eating and are frustrated but don't want to wean them just yet. But as many moms buy them for their own babies, just as many buy for friends who just had a baby or are going to baby showers.  That's where the themes come in.  Have a baby due before Halloween?  How much fun would a nursing necklace be with little bats on it?  Babies don't know they're flying rodents, they just know that they're fun spinny things!

I've had customers specifically request theme necklaces.  One was having a ladybug baby shower, so I made a necklace to match!  A  baseball themed necklace because it matched the baby's room.  A bumblebee theme simply because she loved bumblebees.  All of these are now part of my product lines and can be seen in my Etsy store.  Why?  Because they're cute and if one person wanted them, why wouldn't another?

Hey, look at Google.  I love seeing what fun stuff they do to the Google logo.  (I really need to get new hobbies).  Themes are fun and unusual and the best part is they are changing all the time.  Try to copy that Fisher Price!

It was great. Optimistic eh? Hahas. I loved my reading but I think I forgot to pronounce my 'th' sounds at some words but overall, it was okay. Hee. Picture conversation was great. Mdm Susan Teo was laughing. I don't know whether she was laughing AT me or WITH me. Finally, the conversation:

Have you ever been to an interesting place before?
Yes! I remembered a few weeks ago, I followed a friend (ehem..ehem...who eh?) to a place called Music Garage. Apparently, his band was going to promote their fourth birthday and they were going to hold the event there. I found the place interesting because there were photo studios and an interview room (I almost said toilet also).

What do you find so interesting about the place?
The interview room. There was a plush sofa which was almost level to the ground and there was many musical instruments such as a drum set, guitars, a tambourine and many more (ohmyfag, I made a sweeping statement). I really found the place interesting because not many people know of this place and it is a sort of one of a lifetime experience. (Thought of not allowing Mdm Susan Teo to ask further questions, so I continued). Then during my visit to the place, I managed to listen to the band play one of their songs in acoustic form, entitled 'Distant Memories'.

Why do you find it enjoyable? (I really thought it was over. I ended up smoking my way through.)
Oh because the song is very nice. It was different from all the other songs I listened to. I usually listen to international bands but this is the first time I listened to a local band. Also, I got to listen to them playing acoustically first hand. (I started smoking my way here, i.e. go out of point...too excited laa). Also, not many people support local bands, so I really found it enjoyable to listen to one. -smile-

Hehe. Mdm Susan Teo must be thinking, "Wipe that weird, cheeky grin of your face".

Anyway. Some fag decided to comment on the bandfusion website saying that the judges was biased and amended the scores for Marsiling Wind Symphony:

but due to some erm... 'bad history' between the organising party and some of the members in MWS, we got a lower mark instead. You guys do know that the organisers have the right to amend the results right? Well if that's the case, then I think that the Organisers, NOT the Adjudicators are the ones who screwed up.

You already know they had a 'bad history', yet you were foolish enough to make it worse. That is so uncalled for. Because of one person, MWS is banned from further competitions until they give a good explanation. Now, that didn't help in making the relationship between MWS and the organisers better, did it? I am not in the band...yet, but still, it is unfair to those who have worked really hard to get a Silver. People took leave from work, some rushed from the other ends of Singapore just to commit to the band and attain the Silver MWS had wished for. Now the effort has all gone down the drain.

 Notice the droppings from the Imported Cabbageworm who had a field day with this plant.  I now have the book "The Organic Gardener's Handbook of Natural Insect and Disease Control" so I am somewhat more informed, and the learning never stops!  A few more pictures of the destruction and the culprit...

  I sprayed the plants with Insecticidal Soap and it appeared to work - now we will see if the plants can recover and flower.

It has been a month since I first saw the baby swans out and about swimming in the pond and today I did take a few more pictures ... they are growing and growing and SO adorable!

Today I did harvest a few beets ... this is another first for me - growing beets!  I am the only one in the family that likes beets so the harvest is all mine!!!  I could have let them grow bigger BUT I was pretty excited that they grew and couldn't wait - I will cook them up tomorrow!

  I also plan to cook up some Parsley Pesto tomorrow and this is from the garden ...

The blackberries are in flower, and the bees are busy. Here are as many as I could photograph on a windy evening - more later, perhaps.

I catch bumblebees napping on the flowers every now and then. A bumblebee will sleep in a flower all night long, if it is the kind of flower that has a lot of petals.

Wer kennt nicht die fantastische Science-Fiction Geschichte um den ewigen Kampf zwischen Gut und Böse ? Einst lebten die sogenannten Autobots glücklich und zufrieden auf ihrem Heimatplaneten Cybertron irgendwo am anderen Ende des Universums - doch eines Tages führte die Machtgier Megatrons, dem Anführer der Decepticons, zum jähen Ende dieses friedvollen Daseins. Der Planet ging unter, die Autobots konnten mit Ach und Krach den sogenannten AllSpark - ein mächtiges Artefakt, welches eine ungeheure Energie in sich bündelt - retten und auf der Erde verstecken - doch Megatron würde niemals aufgeben. So kam es, dass er den Standort des AllSparks lokalisierte, doch (un)glücklicherweise stürtze er ab - und landete in den tiefen der irdischen Arktis; wo er viele Jahre später von Captain Witwicky (William Morgan Sheppard) gefunden und vom Militär konserviert wurde.

Der Film beginnt mit sogleich mit der Vorstellung von Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf), dem Enkel des ursprünglichen Finders - welcher ein Teenager ist, wie er normaler nicht hätte sein können. Was ihn interessiert ist sein erstes Auto, seine große, scheinbar unerreichbare Liebe - doch er scheint nicht gerade vom Glück verfolgt. Doch dann trifft er urplötzlich auf Beetlebum, einen der menschenfreundlichen Autobots; welcher sich als sein neues Auto ausgibt ! Plötzlich liegt das Schicksal der Menschheit, oder aber gar des gesamten Universums in seinen Händen...

Kurze Rückblende: zum ersten mal hörte ich von den Abenteuern um die Transformers als kleiner Junge von vielleicht 6 oder 7 Jahren, in Form der erstmals 1989 in deutsch ausgestrahlten Zeichentrickserie. Kein Zweifel - so flach die eigentliche Story, so wiederkehrend die ewig gleichen Handlungsstränge - es war doch jedesmal ein wahres Fest. Denn es ist doch eine Art Kindheitstraum: Roboter, die sich in fast alles (anorganische) verwandeln können, die ein gutes Herz (oder etwas ähnliches) haben und entschlossen gegen das Böse kämpfen - in einer richtig "coolen" Art und Weise. Nun also hat sich Michael Bay erneut an den Stoff gewagt. Herausgekommen ist ein bombastisches Science-Fiction Spektakel, welches von Spezialeffekten und allgemeinem Getöse nur so strotzt, und eines mit Sicherheit ist: ein Fest für die Augen. Gut also, wenn man den Film im Kino gesehen hat, oder ein ordentliches Heimkinosystem zu Hause hat. Ganz vorsichtig: dies ist vielleicht sogar Grundvorraussetzung, denn abgesehen davon hat der Film nicht gerade viel zu bieten...

Die restlichen Autobots erreichen die Erde...

Es ist doch so: es ist eines der schwierigsten Unterfangen, den Stoff eines Trickfilms/Cartoons/Animes in einer Realverfilmung umzusetzen. Es kann viel schiefgehen - was ursprünglich eine Hommage an den Originalstoff, oder eine aktualisierte Weiterführung dessen sein soll, stellt sich oftmals als unnötige filmische Maßnahme heraus - bei deren Ansehen man das Gefühl nicht los wird, dass das ursprüngliche Thema verramscht oder auf fade Weise neu aufgekocht wird. So auch beim Film Transformers, welchen ich ganz klar als "Wackelkandidat" bezeichnen möchte. Denn absolut unerträglich ist er nicht - nur eben auch nicht gut, nichteinmal ansatzweise. Denn, und das ist das eigentliche Problem bei der Sache - die Story ist schwach, der Film absolut geistlos. Vielleicht zu geistlos, der ursprüngliche Stoff zu starr und unausbaufähig für einen Realfilm. So hätte ich gedacht, aber nun haben wir ja den Salat, pardon; den Film...

Gestatten: Optimus Prime, Anführer der Autobots

Von wegen Salat.... irgendwie scheint es so, als ob an Dressing nicht gespart wurde. Doch auch mit übermäßig viel Dressing rettet man keinen unfrischen Salat... richtig, ich rede von den (merklich übertriebenen) Special Effects. Bombastisch sind sie - man werfe nur einen Blick auf die Kampfszenen, oder auf die Nahaufnahmen der Autobots während den Transformierungen - hier wurde mit viel Liebe zum Detail gearbeitet, die investierte Mühe (aber auch die horrenden Kosten) werden deutlich. Aber mal ehrlich: wie schön anzusehen ist es noch, wenn ein Autobot sich zum x-ten Male transformiert ? Es sieht toll aus, ja - doch irgendwann wird es öde - sogar relativ schnell. Genau so wie die allgemeinen Kampfszenen, deren einzige Originalität im Grunde darin besteht, dass sie auf der Erde stattfinden - also in einem gewissen Umfeld in dem Dinge zu Bruch gehen können (oh ja, das tun sie) - nichts wäre wohl langweiliger, als den Kampf zwischen Autobots und Decepticons in irgendeiner sterilen Landschaft zuzuschauen ! Denn im Grunde sind sie sich ja fast ebenbürtig - man nenne es Stahl auf Stahl (oder aus was auch immer sie bestehen...) - irgendwie sind diese Kämpfe cool, aber, um auch einmal die treffende deutsche Übersetzung zu gebrauchen: auch merklich kühl und ohne jegliches Herzblut.

"Kann mal jemand die Lautstärke runterdrehen... ? Ich habe Kopfschmerzen !"

Der schwächste Aspekt des Films bleibt aber wohl die Darstellung des unfreiwilligen Helden Sam Wiwicky's, und dessen Wandlung vom schüchternem Aussenseiter zum Roboter- und menschenrettenden Ausnahme- und Frauenheld. Irgendwie scheint es einige Probleme mit der filmischen Balance zu geben, es mag alles nicht so recht zueinanderpassen... als treffendes Beispiel, an dem nicht nur Charakter des Sam's beteiligt ist; sondern ein weiterer allgemeiner Aspekt, der fast bis zum Erbrechen ausgereizt wurde: die vermeintliche "Witzigkeit" und "Coolness" der Autobots in jeder erdenklichen Situation. Richtig, ich spreche zum Beispiel von der Szene, in welcher Sam in das Haus seiner Eltern zurückkehren muss, um die wichtige Brille zu holen - und die Autobots kommen selbstverständlich mit bis in den Garten, welcher von Sam's Vater liebevoll gepflegt ist. Warum würden sie dies überhaupt tun ? Ein kleiner Tipp von mir, und um in Zukuft weitere Schäden zu vermeiden: sie sind Transformers, sie könnten sich in nahezu alles technische verwandeln - also auch in etwas unauffälligeres und kleineres. Wahrscheinlich hätten sie dies auch getan, wenn in dem Film etwas mehr Wert auf allgemeine Logik gelegt würde (daran ermangelt es stellenweise merklich). Aber dann hätte sich Sam ja nicht so schrecklich nervig darüber aufregen können, dass die Autobots das Blumenbeet seines Vaters zertrampeln ! Einer der zahlreichen Szernen, bei denen man nur denkt: Jungeee, wann seit ihr endlich fertig... ?

Wer hätte das gedacht... die Autobots sind siegreich... na Halleluja !

Was also soll dies überhaupt für ein Film sein ? Ein Kinderfilm ist es sicher nicht, dafür ist er viel zu überladen und brutal. Doch ist er stellenweise auch wieder zu infantil und inhaltslos um vor einem erwachsenen Publikum zu bestehen - ein echtes Problem also. Die Mischung aus bedeutender Weltrettung, nervigen Comedyelementen und allgemeinen Teenagerproblemen wirkt einfach nur unerträglich ! Dazu noch die typische Militär- und Dramatikprise a'la Michael Bay... welche vielleicht noch bei der "Insel" funktioniert hat - hier aber definitiv nicht ("nein, lieber Autobot, du darfst nicht sterben, so stehe doch auf...") ! Als wäre dies alles nicht genug, ist schon ein zweiter Teil der Realverfilmung in der Mache... mein Vorschlag: dreht doch einfach so viele Teile wie die Comicserie Folgen hatte - Hollywood ist ja so innovativ/kreativ ! Den zweiten Film werde ich mir daher wohl kaum ansehen, da eher eine weitere Verschlechterung zu erwarten ist - bereits der erste bekommt von mir nur 3.9 von 10 Punkten (u.a noch wegen dem "Nostalgiebonus").

Hirnloses Bombastkino, welches die Heimkinoanlange mal richtig zur Geltung kommen lässt - mehr aber auch nicht. Schade eigentlich ! Manchmal wünschte ich gar, ich könnte die relativ teuer erstandene DVD in eine andere transformieren...

If you have watched the movie "The Happening," the topic of CCD, or Colony Collapse Disorder in our Honeybee population was brought up by the main character who is a high school teacher (played by Mark Wahlberg) in his biology class.  Albert Einstein made the statement, ”If honey bees become extinct, human society will follow in four years.”  CCD, or Colony Collapase Disorder is not a dreamed up movie plot; it is actually happening. And several organizations (including beauty blogs) are spreading the word and investing in research to solve the puzzle.

And another way to save the bees is to try Haagen-Dazs newest premium ice cream flavor: vanilla honey bee ice cream! This ice cream is vanilla with a touch of golden honey. Haagen-Dazs is also funding research to protect disappearing honey bee populations.

iPhone 3G:

I know this is late and everyone knows already but the iPhone 3G is coming out on July 11 and is much cheaper. Or at least that is what they want you to think. You actually end up spending more than the regular price because of monthly fees. It will only be given for the cheap price right out of the AT&T store and will be activated on spot. You will be locked in so you cannot just leave and get it unlocked for T-mobile. Even then I predict that the new software will take a while to unlock because they have made it more advance. And by the way, my predictions on the new iPhone were 100% correct. It will come with 3G, GPS, and better battery life.

Cars:

First and foremost GM officially leaked a picture of the Camaro convertible. You might be saying 'why would I care ?' and the answer is that it further shows more added details to the speculations. Now we know that the headlights are the same ones from the concept and so is the grill. In the testing mule the headlights were weird bulbs and the grill had 3 parts instead of 2. Here is the downside: it looks horrible when the top is up. And because out of love and respect I will not put the picture up(if you want to see it then leave me a comment).

Camaro Convertiblebadass in black

As if it you thought I was done talking about the Camaro, I have even better news. The greatest movie ever made, Transformers, is filming the second movie currently. It will be named 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' and rumors say Megatron and Jazz might come back. In the cartoon, Megatron does come back but as Galvatron. But the main point im trying to make is that Bumblebee has been upgraded and has been given more aggressive looks. Only a picture can tell a thousand words.

I could talk about this car forever and because GM is using Transformers movie to advertise their cars, this could mean that this Bumblebee Camaro is based off the actual production one. If this is true, then I am definitely going to rape this one up! Only thing I really like is the Lockheed-Martin f-22 raptor style front. In an interview with the designer of the Camaro it was said that the Camaro's inspiration came from the f-22 raptor. Tell me what you think about the upgrade in the comments section.

Movies:

So far the ranking of summer movies from best to worst is:

1. Ironmanobviously its about freaking Ironman. No comments other than strongly recommended!

2. You Dont Mess With the ZohanAdam Sandler plays an Israeli counter-terrorist who comes to America to fulfill his dream of a hair stylist. Possibly the funniest movie Adam Sandler has made. Its a very sexually related movie and thats what makes it super nasty because he does anything that moves.

3. THE INCREADIBLE HULKobviously its about the HULK! this movie is action packed and much better than the first one. Great cinematography, graphics, and storyline. Only reason this isnt #2 on my list is because I love Adam Sandler and comedy movies.

This is just so far. Strong contenders include The Dark Knight, Wall-E, Love Guru, Kung Fu Panda, Wanted, Get Smart, and Hancock.

Life:

Summer is going great so far. I might be heading out to the UK in early July and cant wait for it! My best friend's birthday was yesterday and we had a good time at his BBQ. I will be starting flying lessons in the next few weeks and really cant wait for that either. Im still awaiting the big summer camping trip which as always be awesome! And in other news I need a haircut so I will put the before and after pictures of that also. Only thing I can think of which will make my summer better is TOP GEAR. Top gear is the greatest show in the world. It is viewed by billion viewers every Sunday all over Europe and Asia. It is also the second most torrented thing on the Internet. Unfortunately, It doesnt air in USA so I have to wait to watch it in low quality on youtube when someone who really took the time to care and up it up. The show has also been awarded for its amazing video taking skills and it is show in HD. What would be great is if when im in UK I get to actually be on the show in the audience. The 11th season of Top Gear starts June 22. Ask me if you have any questions about the show or if you need a link. The lavender in our backyard is buzzing with bumblebees.  My goal was to capture one in flight, stopping the wing action with a high shutter speed.  It was not to bee. 

I shall try again in the future.
