I ran into a customer this morning who was frantic because she couldn’t find the right earring

I ran into a customer this morning who was frantic because she couldn't find the right earrings to wear to her daughter's wedding on Saturday. We happened to run into each other and a look of complete relief came over her as she saw me. She told me her story and 10 minutes later we were collaborating on a design, what she was looking for and oh, could I make a bracelet, too?

In her Mother of the Bride role, she picked out a dress that she described as completely elegant; a strapless black dress with a lace flounce at the bottom. Black? I asked. Yes, her daughter's wedding colors are black, white and yellow. She wanted some earrings that had some black with gold vs. silver, which is what she usually likes. And since the dress' bodice is covered with black beads, she didn't want a necklace but did want some long chandelier type of earrings.

After our consultation we went our separate ways. When I finished up what was already on my schedule for the day, I set about to pull together something I thought she would like, sat at my workbench and came up with an earring and bracelet design. I hand delivered them to her this morning and she just LOVED them. I was so happy as it was a complete last minute thing and since time was short, I could only use stock that I had on hand.

So now the earrings and bracelet will be making their own walk down the aisle accompanied by a very lovely lady that is a dream customer. They will have such a lovely trip and so much fun dancing the night away on into the wee hours of the morning.

Customer Reviews

1) Lynn

This bracelet is obviously high quality. I would recommend it to anyone in the market for a sterling silver charm bracelet.

2) James

This is a nice bracelet, but will not hold more than three or four charms according to a jeweler where my daughter had her put on.

3) Robert

I bought this bracelet for my girlfriend for Christmas. She loves it. This is a great gift bracelet for a man to give to his significant other, especially for those of us on a budget ! For $35, this bracelet can't be beat.

4) C. Slas

This is a beautiful sterling silver bracelet. It fits my wrist perfectly, but would probably be too big on my daughter-in-law who is rather thin. This is a nice quality item and not a cheap Wally World knockoff. I'm looking forward to putting some charms and maybe some beads on it and expressing my own style!

5) conscientious consumer - delicate, feminine looking

I received this bracelet today and am very pleased. It is sturdy enough while also being very soft and feminine looking. I agree with a previous reviewer that it probably will not hold more than a few regular size charms so I'm thinking of buying a selection of miniature seashell charms to complete the bracelet. The bracelet's links are tiny(4mm or just slightly more than 1/8th inch across) which is smaller than I originally assumed from the photo. For those wanting to add a collection of charms I would caution that the design is sturdy, but not super heavy-duty. It's a great weight for a light, summer look!

I have a very tiny wrist, so I have always had a hard time finding bracelets that fit me but were still suitable for an adult. As I move into mid-life, I am even less interested in wearing children's jewellery. I sent out an Alchemy request on Etsy.com for someone to make me a silver bracelet I would actually like, and I really hit the jackpot with Naked Jewelry!

The bracelet needed to be only 7" in diameter. I asked for it to be both patterned and highly polished. Naked Jewelry made me this lovely bracelet that is patterned to resemble polished silver birch bark - beautiful!

I highly recommend this artist for her friendliness, helpfulness, and the very high quality of both materials and workmanship - not to mention her very reasonable prices! I feel like I've been given a precious gift in commissioning this piece of jewellery, and I will treasure it!

A few weeks ago, I decided to tackle the pile of unfinished projects awaiting in (and flowing out from...hum) the "Unfinished Objects" box.

Good idea, right ? Completing a few projects, feeling good, starting afresh with new ones.

I did open the box, sneaked a peek in it... tentatively rummaged through the tangled threads... and finally took out this bracelet. Well, at the time, the beginning of a bracelet, really.

-

-

The model comes from Ande, a talented Hungarian beader, kind enough to share her tutorial here.

When I first found it, months ago, I really liked the very geometric and regular feel of this design. The rows of herringbone stitch and the crystals offer a nice playground to experiment with color.

So here I went with a very dark purple, a transparent forest green with purple accents, and some 4mm Austrian bicone crystals in different shades of pink (vintage rose, light rose, rose water opal).

-

-

Now that it is finished, I can say I really like the color combination !

I'm not completely satisfied with the finishing though and I can't quite put my finger on it, but for this time, it'll be all right this way.

It was a very pleasant bracelet to bead and I'll definitely do it again. I'd like to try it in a wider version (maybe 5 or 6 rows of crystals), and maybe try a monotone colorway for a change (like all bronze-like colors, or black in different finishes). I can't wait !....oh, but wait...unfinished projects first...!

-

(I'm sorry I couldn't take better pictures, it's very dark and cloudy here today...)

Location: Gravesend, UK. Where Princess Pocahontas is buried.

A little bit about Chris: Currently far too close to 40 than I like and the 20's are but a distant memory.

Having completed a degree in silversmithing and jewelry design at The London Guildhall University, I decided to work for myself as a bespoke jeweler.

I specialize in making jewelry and silverware to order and in March 2007, I opened my own little shop / workshop in Gravesend.

This is a great little space. It is half workshop and half shop space. In addition to my own jewelry, I also sell other gift items some of which are made by Etsy sellers.

I work in platinum, gold and silver and have made all manner of sparkly things, from engagement rings to wine cradles.

What do you sell?
The majority of my trade is for engagement rings and wedding rings. I also make all manner of rings, earrings, pendants, silverware, cuff links......the list goes on.

Any problem you can not solve with a good guitar is either, unsolvable or not a problem." width="430" height="430" />[/caption]

Where do you sell your stuff?
I do not supply my items wholesale so I only sell in my brick and mortar shop and online via my personal website www.chris-parry.co.uk and on Etsy www.chrisparry.etsy.com

How long have you been in business?
I finished my three year degree and I have been making jewelry for eight years.

How did you get started?
I was 29 when I left a managerial job that I had been in for 10 years. I was running a large business with 100 staff and I just wanted a change, so I handed my notice in and enrolled on a university course.

How do you get the word out about your shop?
My personal website and Etsy shop seem to get mentioned a lot in wedding forums and the like. I do advertise in the UK in a wedding magazine, but that is the only form of advertising that I do now. I have tried lots of other methods but none seem to work for me.

What's your creative process?
I draw a lot. I like to draw anything and everything and it is normally these past sketches that I will use for inspiration.

What do you want people to know about your work?
I do all my own work in my self-contained workshop and work to commission. Therefore each and every object that I make is made from scratch just for the client. I will start with the clients brief, discuss the idea and then produce some sketches. These are then refined until the client is happy with the piece and the price. Once approved, I then go ahead and make exactly what the client wants- a unique, handmade piece of jewelry.

Anything else you'd like us to know?
My favorite color use to be red, but now it is blue.
