Well, Kyle Busch capped off the season's midway point at Daytona with his 10th career win and his sixth this season.

NASCAR's premier series is in their first full year with the Car of Today, and it has undergone some criticism. It actually got so out of hand that NASCAR President Mike Helton called a mandatory meeting to tell drivers to basically, "Shut up and drive."

The first half of the Sprint Cup Series season has provided NASCAR fans with some good, bad, and very ugly races.

On paper, for the most part, this is a record breaking season for competition. The California race had a record 33 lead changes, the Coca-Cola 600 had 2,580 green flag passes, that was up almost 900 from the 2007 Coca-Cola 600. The Michigan race tied a track-best 3,204 green flag passes.

NASCAR is getting more coverage than ever. TV Ratings are up for the most part from last year. Although some tracks are struggling with attendance, tracks are still selling out.

NASCAR is also going through some economic hardships. Sponsors willing to fork out millions of dollars a year are few and far between. Teams are shutting down, Petty Enterprises sold 50% of their company to Boston Ventures.

The competiton is also even, all four manufacturer's have won at least three races. All four manufacturer's are represented in the top 12 in driver points. There has been 10 different race winners, 11 different pole winners, 74 drivers have attempted to qualify for at least one Sprint Cup Series race, and 46 driver had led at least one lap. All evidence that NASCAR has accomplished one goal -- make competitors and manufacturer's even. Chevy no longer has a stangle hold on the field. In fact, the first Chevy in the top last week at Daytona will Dale Earnhardt Jr. who finished 8th.

Also, Hendrick Motorsports is apparently struggling. Despite the fact that they only have two wins, and have three of their drivers in the top six in points. At this point in the season, Hendrick Motorsports drivers had 10 wins.

Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, and Ryan Newman all led the points standings for the first time in their careers this year. And, Kasey Kahne and Greg Biffle are back! They are both back in the top 12, and Kahne has two wins so far.

And don't forget. The most-popular driver is showing that he indeeds deserves the attention. He ended a two year winless streak with a win at Michigan, he has matched his 2007 numbers already, which is answering the question on how Dale Jr. would perform in 2008 after leaving DEI in 2007. The answer -- Great!

Speaking of DEI, recently, sources close to DEI are reporting that DEI could be sold to Max Siegel for as much as $130 million, which would take Teresa out of the picture. This is still developing, but could get very interesting.

And, you can't talk about the 2008 season without talking about Silly Season -- 2009 edition.

Rumors have been circulating and some are very tasteful.

Sources yesterday confirmed that Joe Gibbs Racing will go to four teams, and Juan Pablo Montoya would be the driver. Now, wouldn't that be a combination. Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Juan Pablo Montoya. Add Joey Logano in the 20 after Stewart leaves to buy into Haas CNC Racing with Ryan Newman as a teammate, and you get headlines for the rest of the year.

Sources close to Tony Stewart say that he is expected to announce his future plans as soon as Indianapolis in two weeks.

As Silly Season continues to unfold, and the season heats up for the chase -- stay tuned to NASCAR FanZone for all your NASCAR updates.

Kyle Busch dominated the second half of the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway and survived a green-white-checker finish to pick up his fifth Sprint Cup victory of the season.

David Gilliland, Jeff Gordon, Clint Bowyer, and Casey Mears rounded out the top 5.

Juan Pablo Montoya, Ryan Newman, Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart finished sixth through 10th respectively.

Notables: Greg Biffle (11th), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (12th), Jeff Burton (14th), Jimmie Johnson (15th), David Ragan (24th), Denny Hamlin (27th), Kevin Harvick (30th), Kurt Busch (32nd), and Kasey Kahne (33rd).

Road course ringers: Ron Fellows (29th), Max Papis (35th), Scott Pruett (36th), Boris Said (41st), Marcos Ambrose (42nd), Brian Simo (43rd).

In the closing laps, Harvick tried to out-brake Gilliland in one of the corners, and got into the corner a little too hot. His car snapped loose and he spun. He got into the back of McMurray, who then got into the back of Stewart, sending them spinning.

Stewart rebounded, but McMurray, who ran in the top 5 for most of the day, and Harvick never fully recovered.

After the race, Marty Snyder asked Stewart about the spin. Stewart said:

I haven't seen it yet so it wouldn't be fair for me to comment on it.

Snyder pressed the issue, saying that this is the second time Harvick spun him, of late.

Stewart didn't seem pleased by this and noted, again, that he hadn't seen it and would not comment on it.

Road Courses In NASCAR?

As the Sprint Cup Series turns to Infineon Raceway this weekend, I began thinking of the normal ques

As the Sprint Cup Series turns to Infineon Raceway this weekend, I began thinking of the normal questions that surround road courses in NASCAR. First, should NASCAR even race anything but ovals?

I say, absolutely. I think road courses level the playing field in NASCAR a little bit. Granted, someone like Jeff Gordon seems to have the advantage of road racing skills and good equipment on these road courses, but the Robby Gordons, the Juan Pablo Montoyas, the Scott Pruetts also have a legitimate shot at winning here, no matter what cars they are driving. (No, I did not forget Boris Said, for all of you "Said heads," he's a contender this weekend as well.)

There's something about those cars being thrown around the track that I like. Plus, it really shows NASCAR drivers' skills. I also like to see them improve as they go to these tracks more and more.

Second, should NASCAR go to more road courses? Personally, I'm on the fence about this. I like them, but the more road courses NASCAR includes, the further it gets away from the heart of NASCAR racing, which is racing on ovals. I wouldn't object to one more road course, but I wouldn't want to see many more than that.

I think road course racing takes skill and technique. Not that oval racing doesn't take these traits, but at road courses, car control is much more important.

Third, should NASCAR include a road course in the chase? Absolutely, for the reasons stated above. I think the Chase should include a road course, a restrictor plate race (as it does), a short track race (as it does), and an intermediate track (as it does).

I could make an argument to include Pocono and Darlington in the Chase as well, but I'm not sure Mother Nature would cooperate.

Overall, I love what road courses bring the sport. But, like anything else, moderation is the key. I think two is a good number of road courses to have. Anymore than that, and I might complain.

Here are the not so usual driver's 'scope's for Sonoma. Read them carefully. There is a lot of synchronicity going on.

Dario Franchitti, born 19 May 1973
Today you may have to encounter and even oppose powerful pressures and forces exerted upon you, both from without and from within. The way you live and exert your energies will be tested today, perhaps forcing you to make radical changes in the areas of your life that you find are not working very well. The best way to use this influence is to let go of old patterns of behavior that today's events demonstrate to be invalid. Holding on to them will only make your life more difficult, and if you give them up, you will have room for the positive creative changes that can take place now. Also you may have to contend with the breakdown of machines or situations. Anything that tends not to function very smoothly will work very poorly today. It is time to straighten out the situation or fix up the mechanical problem.

Scott Pruett, born 24 March 1960
During this time you may have fewer resources available for doing what you want, and you may have to focus the available resources on more restricted and concentrated objectives. The effects of this influence are several. First, structure in your life will change significantly, but not suddenly or without warning. The changes brought about during this time are inherent in what is being changed, if you look carefully. It is rather like an inevitable conclusion of a situation. During this period some things will come to an end or an old order of life will cease. On a metaphysical level, this influence means that factors are now being incorporated into the structure of your life that will later bring about evolution and growth. This process involves getting rid of old structures. What happens now will have great consequences in fourteen years.

Max Papis, born 3 October 1969
you feel very much in harmony with yourself and able to do whatever you have to do single-mindedly. Your energies flow with less resistance, and life seems to be easier now. As a consequence, you can relate to people more easily, for others perceive your inward harmony and are drawn to you because of it. Obviously this is a good time for any kind of group activity. You are able to relate your own interests to the interests of any group you are working with, so that everyone will gain from what you do. Relations with women are also improved for the same reasons. A marriage or intimate relationship will be especially harmonious now, for this is a time of real understanding. On the physical level this harmony is expressed as a feeling of vitality, even if you may not feel driven to accomplish a great deal of work.

Boris Said, born 18 September 1962
This morning fancies and illusions may become more important than reality. With some people this takes the form of simple daydreams, which are not likely to be a problem. After all, daydreaming is quite harmless. This is not a good time to make decisions or to embark upon a course of action that requires clear thinking. Subconscious influences are often very strong during this time, and they can distort your views in just about any area. Old points of view, habits picked up in childhood, prejudices - all can mislead you under this influence. People with an alcohol or drug problem may have difficulty with this influence. It gives everyone a strong desire to leave the real world, which strengthens some people's dependence on drinking or drug taking.

Ron Fellows, born 28 September 1959
Today you will have to be quite careful, because you are emotionally excitable and impulsive. In your contacts with others you will seek excitement and stimulation, and thus you may attract people who are quite different from your usual crowd. You may even be quite upset by these new people, but you should realize that they are filling a real need in your life now. Or you may act disruptively in your current relationships. It is not exactly that you are trying to start a fight, but in talking with someone you may stir up feelings that cause a fight to begin unintentionally. Consequently this can be a stormy period in relationships. If anyone tries to restrict you, your reaction will be very negative, even if the restrictions are in your best interests.

Marcos Ambrose, born 1 September 1976
Today the quality of time arouses an independent and rebellious spirit in you. You are inclined to do exactly the opposite of what someone suggests and to reject whatever others say simply because they said it. For the same reasons you are impatient with restraints, duties and responsibilities. There is a great need to be free and to do something very different, maybe even a little bit wild. You have a strong craving for excitement with this influence, and you may act in ways that you would never consider in a more sober mood. This could be either good or bad, of course, depending on how conservative you usually are and how unusual or outrageous the action. For some people this can be a very liberating influence. For others it is a bit too much.

Tony Stewart, born 20 May 1971
This is a time of increased optimism and self-confidence. You feel capable of doing much more than you have ever done, and you are willing to make the effort. This influence quite often signifies professional success, and you may receive a promotion of some kind. Others will look to you for leadership, for they recognize your self-confidence and see that you deserve it.

You have a good idea about where you want to go at this time, and you have probably mastered the techniques and skills needed to get there and have acquired the material resources as well. Under this influence you may gain financially, but you are not likely to squander your money. You will use it to get ahead.

If you are in business for yourself, you may want to expand your business during this time, and you may have an opportunity to do so. You may want to make improvements in your home or move to a larger and more spacious one.

Even if nothing very obvious happens on the material plane, as may be the case, this is usually a time of inner peace and contentment. You feel good about yourself, with none of the torments and insecurities that may afflict you at other times. Your confidence comes over to other people, and they feel good being with you. As a result you may be able to support or cheer up someone who is not feeling very well.

At this time you should be careful not to overextend yourself or become overcommitted in your boundless enthusiasm. Keep in mind that even now your energies are finite.

Greg Biffle, born 23 December 1969
This is an excellent time for getting things done. You are in an orderly state of mind and have a strong sense of self-discipline. You carefully consider every move before acting. You make plans at a very concrete level and insist that it be possible to execute them in the practical universe. You are not interested in idealistic speculations or abstract considerations that cannot be applied in daily life. All matters relating to work or your profession are favored by this influence, precisely because of your orderly mental state. Any tasks that you do today will be very carefully done with no loose ends. It is possible that your serious and attentive attitude to your work will attract the attention of your employer or other persons in authority whom you encounter.

Ryan Newman, born 8 December 1977
( *Note the same aspect is dominent in Marco Ambrose's 'scope)
Today during the day the quality of time arouses an independent and rebellious spirit in you. You are inclined to do exactly the opposite of what someone suggests and to reject whatever others say simply because they said it. You are impatient with restraints, duties and responsibilities. Tonight you will feel much more emotional than usual. This, of course, can be either good or bad, depending upon how you normally relate to your emotions. If you are ill at ease with your feelings, you will not consciously be aware of them. But you will relate to people in automatic ways, conditioned by habit. You will respond unconsciously to small cues put out by other persons that neither you nor they are aware of. The problem here is that you are unable to see each new moment and person afresh. On the other hand, if you can handle the emotions that are aroused, you will be able to relate to others with great feeling and empathy. This influence is excellent for occasions when you and another person must relate at a very deep, intense level.

Kurt Busch, born 4 August 1978
This morning the quality of time arouses an independent and rebellious spirit in you.

Jeff Burton, born 29 June 1967
Tonight you can assert yourself in a positive manner and stand your ground if necessary. You may feel more courage and confidence than usual, which you express by taking the initiative in making emotional contacts with others. You speak very directly and forcefully, but without being offensive, which others will respect you for. This is a good time to work as a leader with groups of people. You understand what is needed, and you can unify your objectives and theirs, usually by talking them around to your point of view. Whenever you talk with others, you radiate an inner excitement, as if you were ready for immediate action. Under this influence you have the capacity to start projects, although you should keep in mind that this is a short-term influence and its effects will not last long.

Jeff Gordon, born 4 August 1971
This morning certain energies are at a high level. Probably you will feel quite physically energetic and want to accomplish a great deal. However, your energies may not be working very smoothly, because different areas of your life are working against each other now. You will have to work hard to develop harmony between your home and professional life, your conscious and unconscious personality, and your mind and feelings. You can accomplish a great deal as long as you don't get carried away by conflicts in these areas. In truth, for your life to work smoothly now, both sides of the areas mentioned above must be working together. Discordant moods can create difficulties in relationships at this time, especially if you are having any kind of internal emotional struggle.

Robby Gordon, born 2 January 1969
This is usually an agreeable time, in that you feel well and enjoy the company of others. It is good for doing anything that you really enjoy, as long as there is nothing that you have to do. You are likely to have very little self-discipline. In fact, you are likely to indulge yourself in many ways that may not be good for you. On the other hand, if you proceed with some discipline and know what you are doing, you can make some excellent choices at this time. Avoid doing anything on impulse, because although your mind is capable of making good decisions, your emotions are likely to lead you to excess.

Juan Pablo Montoya, born 20 September 1975
Today you can assert yourself in a positive manner and stand your ground if necessary.

Well, I must say I enjoyed Watkins Glen tremendously. Interesting ending tho...
The Hot and Spicy John Paul the Pope of Motorsports showed a bit of Latino Big Red attitude towards Mr Happy Harvick. The last few laps proved tense and exciting as I was fighting with my husband over who was going to win, Gordon or Stewart. Jeff Gordon spun himself out. Darn.
Denny Hamlin proved he can run a good road race. I thought Carl Edwards was really Kyle Busch in disguise and he was going to kill someone. But no, Kyle was a good boy, with a good finish. I better get used to being nicer to him if he is going to Gibbs. He does bring a heck of a lot of talent to the team, even if he is an ass. I guess ass is ok to say, as NASCAR.com reports that Kevin Harvick will not be penalized for saying it.No Penalties?? Please.Let's look at fair and objective behaviors when we talk about penalties.
My fav road racers, except for Boris Said all got a top 10. Congrats to Robby Gordon, Ron Fellows and even Jeff Gordon for spinning out and still getting a 10'r.
The biggest surprise of the day? Greg Biffle. Great run.
Too bad for Jr. It's o.k. He will pull out of this.
Congats of course to my driver, Tony Stewart for the win. They are only just beginning for him. Watch out for Newman to make that top 12 too. He will.
Onward to MIS!!

Here are the driver’s with the most pertinent ’scopes for tomorrows road race at Sonoma

Here are the driver's with the most pertinent 'scopes for tomorrows road race at <del datetime="2007-08-12T15:17:19+00:00">Sonoma</del>, I mean Watkins Glen...Duh...(Thanks Becca, for letting me know I had landed on a dead brain cell again. Sometimes I stay there for days...) Remember that it is once again, New Moon, but at least not Moon Void of Course, as it has been during so many races this year. The New Moon sets the tone for the next month, for our hopes, dreams or fears,( which ever we focus on during it's effects) to manifest. Terry Labonte has the best 'scope of all.

Tony Stewart, born 20 May 1971
Sun Square Med.Coeli
This influence usually signifies a day of great activity in several areas of your life. You feel a great need to exercise your will and to determine where you are going and what you are doing. Often this is a day of hard work in your profession. But you will be motivated by tasks that relate to your own personal objectives. Therefore this can also be a day of conflict with others, arising from what they consider your selfishness and excessive self-involvement. Or as you pursue your own goals you may come into conflict with another whose goals are not in harmony with yours. No matter which of these alternatives you encounter, this is a time for enlightened self-interest. But you must continually remember the people around you and be very careful not to alienate them any more than necessary.

Ryan Newman, born 8 December 1977
Moon Square Uranus, Moon Trine Sun and Moon Conjunction Mars
Ryan's scope is quite complicated during the race, however I think he will grab ahold of the negatives and turn them into a positive outcome.
This morning is not a good time to discuss any issues that are critical to you, because you will find it difficult to maintain your equilibrium and not fly off the handle. On the other hand, if someone challenges you unjustifiably, you certainly won't back down without a fight. The main problem is that your sense of perspective may be so distorted that you cannot tell the important issues from the trivial ones and will defend both with equal vigor. There is also the risk that you will act hastily on many matters, impulsively and without foresight or planning. All you seem to care about is exercising your will and getting your own way. Obviously with this influence, you must try to calm down and be willing to compromise on any issue that is not really central to you.
This morning the quality of time arouses an independent and rebellious spirit in you.
Ryan's Moon Trine Sun gives him the ability to overcome and make the best of the aggression and anxiety he is feeling:
This is a favorable time for all kinds of mental work and communication with others. Now you are able to state your case forcefully before others if you have to. Any mental work requiring a broad overview of the situation is favored. This is also a favorable time for all kinds of group discussions and negotiations, at least from your point of view. Any kind of business negotiation will work out well because you can spell out all the requirements in detail. This is a good day for organizing yourself, another person or a group, again because of the clear-headedness indicated by this influence which will help you balance your own individual ego needs with those of others. They will feel that you are giving them a fair shake.

Jeff Gordon, born 4 August 1971
Moon Opposition Mars:
Today during the day you should be careful because the energies of this influence are quite discordant and could create trouble in your personal life. The problem is that you are rather emotionally excitable and easily irritated or angered now. With other people you are far less tolerant of individual quirks, and little things irritate you. You may also be in such a contentious mood that no outside aggravation is needed to set you off. Be wary of arguing just for the sake of arguing. But on the other hand, if you feel real anger, you should release the energy; don't hold it in. Your domestic scene may not be very peaceful under this influence, but try to remain calm, no matter how difficult it is. Relations with women may be especially difficult.

Jimmy Johnson, born 17 September 1975
Jimmie's scope enters some very good aspects tomorrow. He has a long term aspect, Neptune Trine Mercury, active until mid Nov. The other aspect's in effect for the race are all trines and sextiles, so his chart could not be better. Chad's on the other hand, is horrid. I hope we don't see any more creative engineering issues. If we don't, then Jimmie should do excellent tomorrow. He has the chart to win, if Chad's aspect's don't mess him up.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., born 10 October 1974
Sun Sextile Mars
This is an excellent time for accomplishing all kinds of work. Your energy is high, and you have faith in your ability to achieve. Usually your health is quite good now, and this influence is extremely favorable for all kinds of physical activity. In fact it would be very bad not to be physically active, because these energies must have an outlet. If they do not, they can cause problems even when they are basically positive. Nevertheless you are in a self-assertive mood today. If you have to fight with someone to maintain your position in any matter, you will be able to do it effectively. You are not inclined to back down, although you will seek out a common ground where the two of you can agree, if there is any. Today, you should have no difficulty keeping amused, because your mind is sharp, alive and ready for all kinds of experiences. Even in the ordinary, everyday aspects of your world you see the possibilities for new knowledge and understanding. Quite frequently this influence indicates one of those days when the telephone never seems to stop ringing. It seems as if everyone wants to get in touch with you, and you have to contact many people too. Important communications from others may very well come by mail, telephone or personal conversation. And you will speak your mind with everyone. It is very important with this influence to let people know exactly where you stand on every issue. Your honesty and forthrightness in what you say will command the respect of others.

Juan Pablo Montoya, born 20 September 1975
This is an excellent influence for good times, entertaining and just having fun. Before you plan any hard work for this period, keep in mind that you are likely to put self-gratification and pleasure before work. You may find it difficult to put off something that you want to do in order to fulfill some duty. But this in not selfishness on your part, for you are quite capable of being generous and giving to others. You are more openly affectionate than usual and feel real love for the people around you. It is just that this aspect of your life - love, affection and pleasure - is more important to you now than work. This is a good time to give or attend a party. It is also a good time to be with loved ones, not only a lover or partner but also children, from whom you will derive much pleasure now. Tonight you have the capacity to work either with others or alone. If you work with others you will have to have a lot of independence or some kind of leadership role in order to feel that you have been given an adequate chance. Probably you will get that chance. You have a much greater desire than usual to take the initiative and much stronger feelings of courage and self-reliance. In working with others, you will be able to give them the feeling that your aims are theirs, so that they will work with you more willingly. If you have to defend your point of view when challenged, you will not back down but will argue your case with vigor and passion. Others will respect you for this even when they do not agree. You do not feel any need to make unwarranted attacks in order to maintain yourself. Tonight this influence is likely to increase the tempo of your social intercourse for a few hours. You find it relatively easy to verbalize your feelings. If you have a problem or situation that you cannot handle, this is a good time to take it to a sympathetic friend. Getting another viewpoint will help you. And, of course, you may do the same for someone else. Often this time is filled with news from friends or with letters and phone calls. Actually you are attracting communication from every conceivable corner of your life. This is a good time to write letters to the people you feel strongly about. But some people under this influence become so passive that it is difficult to take such an initiative. Their tendency is to allow others to take the initiative.

Robby Gordon, born 2 January 1969
Today during the day you will keep your emotions under control, not in a repressive, negative manner, but in a way that enables you to take a more sober and realistic view of life. You are able to put up with considerable adversity and strain during this time because it gives you patience and reserve strength. While you are not inclined to talk about your feelings to just anyone, you do not evade them in yourself. You may very well go off by yourself at this time to think about and evaluate your development. If you have a problem, seek out an older person whose wisdom you respect, who can offer emotional support and suggest practical and immediate answers. You need common-sense answers now that can be applied directly. This influence signifies a great opportunity to know yourself through your relationship with and effect upon your environment. You are highly disciplined and able to channel all your energies toward any objective you wish to attain. There is a close relationship between who you are and what you do. So take this opportunity to examine your life and the structures you have built into it. Today you can organize and make an overall plan for the way you would like to order your affairs and then arrange them accordingly. Because you work very thoroughly and meticulously under this influence, your efforts will achieve lasting results. This is also a good time to undertake any intellectual discipline or technique that requires concentration and attention to detail. Today during the day this influence gives you a pleasant feeling of restlessness, a desire for excitement but not to the point of disruption. You may feel like shaking up the people around you and jolting them out of their seeming lethargy. Or if you are not conscious of this desire in yourself, you may attract someone who shakes you up. Under any circumstances you want to be with exciting and stimulating companions. In your home and other close surroundings you are not willing to accept the same old situation. You may try to find ways to change your circumstances or at least provide some temporary excitement. It is possible that you will meet a new and exciting friend today, or an old friend will come back into your life unexpectedly. Friends may provide opportunities for advancement or for getting away from your usual scene for awhile.

Boris Said, born 18 September 1962
I am so ticked he was sent home. That rule needs to be changed, and pronto.

David Stremme, born 19 June 1977
Your mind is quite clear now, and you are able to handle the details of intricate mental work. Work with figures and tasks that require close attention to detail should work out very well. The only thing to watch out for, however, is that you may not find such work interesting enough to want to do it. This is a matter of individual temperament. Some people get restless under this influence when confronted with any routine work, but others handle their routine much more effectively. Also your ability to keep track of details makes this a good time for any business negotiations or other similarly complicated discussions. A contract or deal that you agree upon today will undoubtedly work out quite well, and you will be quite sure that you included everything important in the agreement.

Dale Jarrett, born 26 November 1956
During this time you turn your attention to your most personal relationships, in which you express yourself in a much more emotional manner than usual. This influence will your employer, relationships with opponents, or any other inherently emotional confrontation. Loved ones and partners are much more important to you than usual, for they provide you with a feeling of security and support. And to be fair, you have the same interest in proving these elements for your loved ones. But if you are in a negative emotional state now, this influence will tend to make you excessively jealous and possessive, or you may act unconsciously or automatically with your loved ones. Confrontations with men, both positive and negative, are likely to be more intense that those with women.

Martin Truex JR, born 29 June 1980
Tonight you desire experience at a very profound level and do not like superficial encounters. With friends and loved ones you seek the true meaning of your feelings for each other. Under this influence, deep-rooted feelings in a relationship are often brought to the surface. This has a therapeutic effect on most relationships, for it releases hidden energies that may be weakening the ties between you. During this time you should be careful not to set an objective for yourself and then become so obsessed by it that you lose track of everything else. Even this rather mild influence can result in a one-track mind and compulsive behavior. If this happens, it is a sign that hidden in this compulsion is a psychological energy that you should try to understand, because it could control some part of your life.
During this time there is tension in your life, but it can be used creatively if you are conscious of what you are doing. If you are not, this influence can signify a time of conflicts, especially with those closest to you, such as your partner and others whom you must cooperate with. Even your intimate, positive relationships may suffer at this time. The problem is that you will find it difficult to give in and compromise as necessary to proper cooperation. In any close relationship, there is often too much compromise, so that the real complaints and grievances are not aired, which in the long run tends to weaken even a fine relationship. Now is the time when these repressed grievances can be brought out into the open, which should result in a real clearing of the air between you.

Kurt Busch, born 4 August 1978
Be careful how you talk to others today. Your energy level is very high, and you tend to identify your ego very closely with your ideas and opinions, so that you are quick to take offense. You have great capacity for mental effort today, but if any obstacle gets in the way of your energies, you will quickly become angry and irritable. And you are not likely to keep your irritation to yourself. There is considerable danger of arguments and disputes, particularly at home or at work. When you look back at this later, you may realize that there was nothing to argue about except egos; no real issues were at stake. But if you have to fight for your beliefs, today is the day to do it. You are sufficiently strong to carry your point of view.

Kyle Busch, born 2 May 1985
This is a two-day period when personal and subjective considerations will override everything else, but it need not be difficult. First of all, you feel a great need to belong and to relate to your friends or loved ones. This need turns on your emotional sensors and makes you very sensitive to the feelings and moods of the people around you, because you want to fall in with their rhythms and become sympathetic with them. This is the unconscious sign of relating to a group. Thus you are emotionally right there whenever someone needs your sympathy, warmth and understanding. You are very concerned about yourself, which is fine, but don't distort this into a state of mind in which you cannot see anybody else's point of view. Objectivity, especially in dealing with others, may be difficult to come by now.

Jamie McMurray, born 3 June 1976
Certainly, tonight emotional attitudes figure more prominently than usual. You should be careful not to lose your objectivity in a discussion or lose your sense of perspective. But you will not feel particularly good or bad with this influence; rather, you will feel any emotion more strongly. Sometimes there is a tendency to attract things to you at this time. Women may also be more important to you than usual. Objects, persons and places that are familiar to you are very important at this time because you need emotional reassurance from your surrounding. You may try to withdraw from others or from confrontations with unfamiliar or strange situations. This is not a negative condition; it arises out of a need to be by yourself for a while.

Matt Kenseth, born 10 March 1972
Tonight you are in touch with your feelings to an unusual extent and are more able to express them to others. You probably lack the psychological tension that usually drives people to talk about their feelings, but you can listen most sympathetically to other people's problems now. The insight into your own feelings and the psychological equilibrium that you have now may enable you to offer effective help to others. This influence also signifies a state of balance between your feelings and your rational intellect. That is, you are able to think with great emotional sensitivity but still remain logical in your thought processes. Communications with women will be easy and quite favorable at this time, regardless of your own sex. And encounters with women may be quite informative in a positive way.

Greg Biffle, born 23 December 1969
Valid during several weeks: This is an excellent time for all kinds of mental work. You are much more attentive to detail than usual and especially concerned about using the best techniques available. You want everything you do to be as perfect as possible, so you plan carefully and work out every detail in advance. This attitude toward doing something well will enable you to get along well with employers and with employees. It is a good time to sit down with either of these groups and talk over any problems that exist. One problem to be careful about is criticizing others. This influence may sharpen your critical ability, and while you are less concerned with your own ego needs, you may also be rather careless of other people's ego needs. Even in the interest of what you consider to be "objective" truth, try not to trample on others' feelings.

There you go. Remember, if there are things you want to manifest in your life, focus and dream about them during the New Moon. It's the time to start "gettin 'er done."

Onward to Watkins Glen, home of the most historical rock concert ever, besides Woodstock. Those were the days...
Tally Ho!!

Here are the pertinent aspects for today's race at Sonoma. The moon, once again is void of course. The moon also enters Scorpio and Mars enters Taurus, so this could be a very exciting race, with lots of aggression and hot heads. Or not. Remember when the Moon is void of course, anything goes.

Sorry the 'scopes are late but my pal Gloria and I went for a ride to Lagrande OR. to pick up a bed from her grandson and ended up on a little adventure, that lasted 2 days. Sideways.(*hint) Let me put it this way, The Gilstrap Brother's. Ted and Warren, make the best Merlot at Gilstrap Brothers Vineyard and Winery on the face of the Earth...How the small winery came to be is carrying out The Bros. Gilsrtap's Daddy's dream. We discovered it in perfect timing for the Sonoma race, in which we shall be drinking our wine in style and with grace and grandness. The wine they produce makes Jeff Gordon's wine taste like vinegar:) More on the wineries later, let's get these scopes up before the race starts.

** Note: John Paul the Pope of Motorsports 'scope is the same as Jimmie Johnson's. Scary. So is Jamie McMurray's.

Jimmy Johnson, born 17 September 1975
Theme:Seething inside **

During this time it is necessary to proceed slowly and cautiously. The more thoroughly and carefully you perform any task, the more chance there is that it will succeed. This can be a very frustrating and irritating time, when all your efforts to assert yourself are blocked, more by a sense of internal inadequacy than by circumstances or other people. However, you are not likely to take negative reinforcement lying down. The part of you that is struggling to break free from inhibitions will feel very angry at being held back. Consequently you are likely to be irritable and easily angered, although your inner doubts make you reluctant to show your anger openly. But no matter how you try to cover it up, everyone will be quite aware that you are seething inside.

Ryan Newman, born 8 December 1977

Today you desire experience and activity. It will not be enough to stay in exactly the same place you have been. This desire makes you go after what you want, with complete optimism that you will get it. On the intellectual level, this influence can signify study or other mind- expanding inquiry. You have a strong desire to understand and know, even about ideas that you normally consider to be beyond your understanding. It is very important today that you act with a firm sense of discipline and not simply indulge every compulsive whim that comes along. Take on the projects that you can handle plus a little extra, but not very much extra. Handle your resources intelligently and be careful not to invest unwisely.

Tony Stewart, born 20 May 1971
You feel good today and affectionate toward just about everyone around you. You should spend time with friends and even try to make new ones, if the opportunity arises. Think about your relationships and appreciate exactly how much love you give to and receive from others. If there are tensions in any of your relationships, this is a good time to work at smoothing them over. Probably you will be quite popular today, and you should use the positive energies you are putting out to make a good impression on the people you want to impress. However, don't be phony about it, because you will not be very effective in the long run. The point is that the good impression you make will be because of the person you actually are, not the person you think others want you to be.

Kurt Busch, born 4 August 1978

This will be a very favorable day for all kinds of communications and personal interchange with others. Even routine connections with friends and neighbors will be very fruitful, for you will be able to get through to each other with greater clarity. This is an excellent day for communicating something important to another person, in which it is necessary to be precisely clear. If you have to present the views of a group and your ideas must be in tune with theirs, this will be a favorable time. But this is also a good day to examine your own goals and expectations.Today is fine for traveling for any purpose, although you will be best served if it stimulates your mind or has an educational purpose.

Dale Jarrett, born 26 November 1956
Theme:Harmonious cooperation

Valid during several months: This is one of the best influences for all relationships: love affairs, relationships with partners, with coworkers, even with enemies. Ego forces are so in tune at this time that you can create the proper balance between yourself and everyone you meet. In your marriage or other love relationship, you will be able to express affection easily and make your feelings clear to your partner. In other partnerships, including professional ones, you are able to understand the needs of your partner,so that you can arrive at maximum understanding and work together harmoniously. Be careful not to let your amiability prevent you from standing up for your own rights. You need not worry about alienating your partner, because you will be able to make it clear that you are working for your mutual benefit.

Carl Edwards, born 15 August 1979

Today you seek excitement and stimulation through your love relationships, even to the point of provoking a fight. The existing patterns of your relationships will become difficult to deal with even if you know that they are basically constructive. Be careful of being impatient with loved ones, demanding that they gratify your need for excitement, unless of course you want to have an argument. In fact, this influence can be a test of the flexibility of your relationship. The less flexible it is, the more disruptive this time will be.

Robby Gordon, born 2 January 1969
Theme: Emotional confrontations

During this time you turn your attention to your most personal relationships, in which you express yourself in a much more emotional manner than usual. This influence will affect a marriage, relationships with opponents, or any other inherently emotional confrontation. Loved ones and partners are much more important to you than usual, for they provide you with a feeling of security and support. And to be fair, you have the same interest in proving these elements for your loved ones. But if your are in a negative state now, this influence will tend to make you excessively jealous and possessive, or you may act unconsciously or automatically with your loved ones. Confrontations with women, both positive and negative, are likely to be more intense that those with men.

Martin Truex JR, born 29 June 1980
Theme: Easily irritated

During this time you probably feel hurt, offended or ignored and therefore you have withdrawn into yourself, and do not allow anyone to get really close to you. At the same time, though, deep down you want to participate, enjoy life, love and be loved. Nevertheless, you should not expect too much of yourself in this respect. You probably need seclusion or a withdrawal to get over everything. In that case you should not bury yourself in your pain as that will not make things better. You will possibly find that the behavior of the other person was unintentional, and that your present situation mainly mirrors your own sensitivity.

Jeff Gordon, born 4 August 1971

This morning you experience rapidly changing moods, which may interfere with clear perception of your goals, especially if your goals have been set without much regard for your personal needs. If your goals are purely professional or make excessive demands on your personal and domestic life, this time will be somewhat disruptive. You may feel dissatisfied with your progress, or you may feel that no matter how much you accomplish, there is always something lacking. This influence sometimes signifies changes in your domestic life.If you have handled this matter well, you should encounter the more positive side of this influence and be able to go about your business with a remarkable sense of wholeness. You will feel that your activities are satisfying, both professionally and personally.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., born 10 October 1974
Theme: Personal advancement

Valid during several months: This is an excellent influence for all kinds of group activity and for being with friends. You feel unusually sociable, and people will enjoy your company. Friends may be of considerable benefit to you today. You should certainly seek out other people, and if you need a favor from someone, this would be a good time to ask. This influence is extremely good for any interview in which you must make a good impression. By chance, you may make a new friend in the course of your everyday activities. The familiar setting in which you meet will set the tone of the entire relationship, a tone of easy familiarity and friendliness. This influence is also likely to provide opportunities for personal advancement as a result of the favorable impression that you have made.

Matt Kenseth, born 10 March 1972Under this influence you will seek an exciting break from your daily routine. You may "feel" asense of a freshy new breeze" in your career, as well as feelings of revolt and noticible upsurge. The aspects that are affecting this new attitude are in effect from June 23 through mid Sept.

Boris Said, born 18 September 1962
You will find it relatively easy to act freely today. You are not very tolerant of restrictions under this influence, and you will look for ways to get away from them. As a result, you are not very self-disciplined, but this is not a serious loss, because whatever you do now is more important than "keeping your nose to the grindstone." You feel that keeping your individuality is more important than living up to other people's expectations, and you let others know this. This is ultimately to your advantage, since you must be yourself in whatever you do. Reform the elements in your life that need to be reformed. This is an aspect of creative change.

David Stremme, born 19 June 1977
Venus Sextile Jupiter Theme: Fair Exchange
Valid during several months: June 23- Mid Sept. 2007

You feel contented and benevolent under this influence. You are at peace with the world and want to share your feelings with everyone whom you meet. Friends, in particular, may be the beneficiaries of your generosity, as you may benefit from theirs. In either case you both will benefit, because everything done under this influence becomes a fair exchange in the long run. This time is favorable for all financial enterprises, especially those involving foreign investments, medicine or the law. Any legal matters decided during this time will also work out to your benefit. A new friendship or love relationship that begins now will be beneficial. Such a relationship will bring out your best qualities and can truly be described as a growth relationship. You are attracted to high-minded and upright people.

Kasey Kahne, born 10 April 1980
Today during the day you have the capacity to work either with others or alone. If you work with others you will have to have a lot of independence or some kind of leadership role in order to feel that you have been given an adequate chance. Probably you will get that chance. You have a much greater desire than usual to take the initiative and much stronger feelings of courage and self-reliance. If you have to defend your point of view when challenged, you will not back down but will argue your case with vigor and passion. Others will respect you for this even when they do not agree. You do not feel any need to make unwarranted attacks in order to maintain yourself.

Kevin Harvick, born 8 December 1975
During this time you will find it necessary to subordinate your desire for amusement to the needs of the present. In your relationships it may be necessary to confront difficulties that you have not handled earlier. Sometimes problems in relationships arise when tacit agreements are not clear to both partners. This is a good time to discuss those agreements openly. This influence is good for all matters relating to your work or profession. During this time you should enjoy good relationships with both superiors and employees. You are willing to work with others to resolve any difficulties that may arise. You may gain financial or other favors, quite unexpectedly, from your employer.

Kyle Busch, born 2 May 1985
Today you will focus your attention on getting ahead in some way. You feel strong, vigorous and confident. Your relationship with your superiors is good, and they may grant you some favor that will assist you in your efforts. Nevertheless you do not feel dependent upon anyone now, nor do you feel that you need recognition from others. Instead you draw satisfaction from knowing inside yourself what you can do. You have a good understanding of yourself, and the calmness that usually goes along with this influence enables you to plan with a cool head. Your personal and family life are also benefited by this influence, because your personal strength is coupled with a sense of responsibility and the knowledge that you don't have to take away anything from your loved ones in order to get ahead.

So that's it. Good luck to all.
Tally Ho!! Cheers!!

I live in North Carolina, so I am morally obligated as a “journalist” to cover the bigge

I live in North Carolina, so I am morally obligated as a "journalist" to cover the biggest event (Daytona) of one of the state's biggest sports (NASCAR). Some of the big headlines:

Jimmie Johnson: Can Jimmie Johnson defend his NEXTEL Cup Title? The Short Answer: Yes. The Long Answer: Probably not.

Cheating: Six drivers were penalized this week for violating car specifications, five of whom lost their crew, including all of the crew chiefs for Evernham Motorsports. Most notably, Jeff Gordon qualified first but will start 42nd because his car was an inch too low, and Michael Waltrip's crew chief was suspended indefinitely and Waltrip was docked 100 championship points for a foreign substance found on his car's intake manifold. While it's justifiable to punish a driver for cheating, we're not entirely sure what the substance was, or if it improves the performance on the car. I think he got punished that badly because he drives a Toyota. And speaking of which...

Toyota's Entry Into NASCAR: Okay, let's just admit it. NASCAR's hating on Toyota has absolutely nothing to do with their cars, or their money, or fear of competition. It is one issue and one issue only: they don't want any stinkin' Japanese companies in the quintessential American sport. That is the issue, nothing less and nothing more. But if you're going to think that way, consider this: more Toyota cars are built in America than any of the "American" companies who put their cars in NASCAR (GM, Ford, Chrysler). They employ more auto workers in America than any of the American auto companies, which in turn puts more money in American pockets. In this sense, they are every but as American now as the other companies, if not more so. As an American, I think they have every right to participate in NASCAR. Just don't let the British in.

Juan Pablo Montoya: VIVA COLOMBIA! Montoya, who was previously a fairly successful open wheel racer (3 wins and 30 top-3 finishes in 5 years in Formula 1) has made the jump to NASCAR, and will drive Chip Ganassi's 42 Havoline car at 36th. I'm personally excited because he is NASCAR's first Spanish speaking driver, which means it's only a matter of time before we see NASCAR on Univision. And if the 2006 World Cup is any indication, it a lot more fun watching Daytona in Spanish. He'll be a good driver, but I have only one thing to say to him...SHAKE N' BAKE! (thanks Loser with Socks)

David Gilliland Starts at the Pole at Daytona: Wait...What?

Their Pick to Win: Tony Stewart (position: 3)

My Pick to Win: Clint Bowyer (position: 11). Why? He has the best NASCAR name. That and he was one of the best rookies of 2006. I got a feeling today about Clint. Let's get it on!

3:31 pm: The race begins!

3:32 pm: 2 laps in, the top 5: Gilliland, Stewart, Kurt Busch, Stremme, and Dale Jr.

3:34 pm: Jeff Gordon has already jumped from 42nd to 34th after 4 laps. My pick, Clint Bowyer, is still 11th.

3:35 pm: Juan Pablo Montoya has moved up one spot, fro 36 to 35.

3:36 pm: Thru 8 laps: 1. Gilliland, 2. Stewart, 3. Kurt Busch, 4. Dale jr., 5. Denny Hamlin.

3:37 pm: Bizarre ad: Crazy, mutant, desert...guys.

3:42 pm: Dale Jr. has slid to 13th, while Gordon is now in 21st. My pick, Bowyer, has fallen to 17th.

3:44 pm: Matt Kenseth has made it into the top 5.

3:45 pm: We have our first crash! The victim is Boris Said (#60).

3:47 pm: Wow. The Daytona ads are even weirder than the Super Bowl ads. And less gay.

3:48 pm: Sorry Jeff Gordon. I just couldn't resist.

(I first heard this song in 2000 by Tim Wilson on the John Boy and Billy Radio Show. The following is how it was sung live.)

Jeff Gordon's Gay!

Jeff Gordon's Gay

At Least that's what them ornery Earnhardt fans always say

They swear he's using Vaseline on the 24 Chevrolet

Jeff Gordons Gay

He Must be Gay

He wears Rainbow Colors

He's a handsome fella

Standin' in Victory Lane

With a Gorgeous Wife

With a check in her hand

Sippin' that gay champagne

Those Earnhardt fans

Up there in the stands

all Chokin' on bread ana Spam

say Gordon's Gay

Every time he turns

and hugs Ray Evernham

Jeff Gordon's Gay

He Must be Gay

He's probably whistlin' Elton John

or Spandau Ballet

He's got the Rainbow Warriors

singin' YMCA

Jeff Gordon's Gay

He Must be Gay

He's got four Winston Cup trophies

Sittin' at home on his trophy shelf

But I'll bet he couldn't pick one up

At least not by his self

Jeff Gordon's Gay

He Must be Gay

At least that's what the boys who lose on Sunday always say

They swear he's using Vaseline on the 24 Chevrolet

Jeff Gordon's Gay

He must be Gay

And next year he'll drive the long pink Caddilac

For Mary Kay.

whoo-hooooooo!

3:50 pm: After the caution ends, the top 5: Kurt Busch, Gilliland, Stewart, Dale Jr., and Ryan Newman. Newman underachieved last year, people forget that when he first came into NASCAR he took it by storm, winning 9 races in his 2nd or 3rd year.

3:54 pm: Gordon is up to 17th, Johnson is up to 11th, Bowyer is down to 21st, and Montoya has yet to crack the top 30.

3:56 pm: After 25 laps: 1. Kurt Busch, 2. Stewart, 3. Kyle Busch, 4. Stremme, 5. Newman.

3:58 pm: I happen to like Tony Stewart, but I shop at Lowe's, and I don't like Jimmie Johnson. Is that so wrong?

4:07 pm: Top 5 thru 40 laps: Kurt Busch, Stewart, Kyle Busch, Gilliland, Newman.

4:12 pm: I'ts down to a leading pack of four, The Busches, Stewart, and Gilliland, with Newman and Harvick giving chase.

4:15 pm: Stewart has taken the lead. He's followed by Kurt Busch, Newman, Gilliland and Harvick.

4:25 pm: Our first major pit of the day at lap 64. the top 3 (Stewart, Busch, Gilliland) did not pit yet. My boy Clint Bowyer has cracked the top 10 and is now in 9th. Montoya is having car troubles and has fallen to 42nd.

4:28 pm: The rest of the field pits the next lap. The top 3 remain intact, and Dale Jr. gets back in the top 5 out of the pits.

4:34 pm: Bowyer has made his move. The leading pack is up to 7, and Clint is 6th.

4:37 pm: The leading pack, thru 75 laps: Stewart, the Busch brothers, Harvick, Bowyer, Gilliland, and Newman. Montoya is 39th, and the leading Toyota is 25th.

4:41 pm: We are at the 2nd caution of the race (it has something to do with Kyle Petty), and then Robby Gordon crashes into Gilliland in pit road.

4:43 pm: The problem for Petty is a shredded right rear tire.

4:51 pm: Stewart got penalized for driving too fast out of pit road. He's fallen back to 40th. This means the new top 5 out of the caution are the Busch brothers, Harvick, Newman, and Denny Hamlin.

4:53 pm: Hamlin is up top 2nd, Gordon has come up to 10th, and Bowyer has fallen to 14th. Johnson and Stewart are way back.

4:59 pm: As we near the halfway point, Kyle Petty and Scott Riggs have dropped out of the race.

5:02 pm: After 100 laps, the Busch brothers are leading, with Newman, Jeff Burton, and Hamlin rounding out the top 5. Gordon is in 10th, Bowyer is 16th, and Johnson, Stewart, Montoya, and Gilliland remain in the back of the pack.

5:06 pm: Oh look, they're making another left turn! How fascinating.

5:07 pm: Oh yeah, Kevin Harvick's blinged out. The last thing I need to hear about is the gold leaf on his helmet, and a comparison of it to the Sistine Chapel because they have the same kind of gold leaf. That's like comparing fine Belgian Chocolate to a Frostee because they both have cocoa.

5:14 pm: The top 5 (85 laps to go): The Busch brothers, Hamlin, Burton, and Newman.

Why haven't we seen a car get totaled yet? This a restrictor plate race! We're supposed to have a 10-car pileup by now! I'm disappointed. What's worse, Bowyer is down to 19th.

5:18 pm: Kyle Busch has fallen to 7th, while Martin Truex has come out of the pack and into 3rd. Denny Hamlin is 2nd to Kurt Busch.

5:22 pm: With 75 laps to go, Kurt Busch is still leading, but Jeff Green who started 31st, has gone up to 5th. Meanwhile, my pick Bowyer has dropped to 20th, and Biffle had cracked the top 10.

5:26 pm: After what looks to be the 2nd-to-last pit stop, Kurt busch is still leading, with Hamlin in 2nd, and Johnny Sauter, who started 41st, in 5th.

5:32 pm: Who cares who's leading? My pick, Clint Bowyer, has plummeted to 40th, or the send worst driver still racing. Yeah, that was a fantastic call, Mike! You just nailed that one! Meanwhile, Stewart is back in the top 10.

5:37 pm: With less than 60 to go, the top 5: Kurt Busch, Rudd, Kyle Busch, Hamlin, and Stewart. Dale Jr. Is 14th, Jeff Gordon is 33rd, Johnson is 22nd, Montoya is 27th, and you don't want to know about Clint Boywer. He's a lap down because he was penalized for knocking down a cone coming into pit road. His goose is cooked, barring a big crash.

5:42 pm: With 50 laps to go, Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart are now battling for the lead. Stewart, who was once 40th, is now 1st.

5:46 pm: Suddenly, Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch total each other's cars. Stewart accidentally swung too close to the yellow line, began to lose control, and Kurt Busch bumped him just enough to send him out of control. Stewart's car was totaled, and Kurt Busch managed to drive into the shop for repairs. Kyle Busch is now in the lead, with Martin Truex Jr, in 2nd, and Carl Edwards in 3rd.

5:58 pm: Coming out of the caution with 40 laps to go, Martin Truex Jr. is in the lead, followed by Mark Martin, Kyle Busch, Johnny Sauter and Matt Kenseth.

6:00 pm: Unbelievably, Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart are blaming themselves rather than each other for the big crash. I'm even more surprised that Stewart is extremely calm after that crash. I would be pissed off no matter how it happened. But then again, in games like Gran Turismo, I drive like a maniac, intentionally crashing my opponents, riding the walls, and almost never using the brakes.

6:04 pm: The top 5 thru 165: Kenseth, Martin, Truex, Kyle Busch, and Jamie Mcmurray? WTF?

6:10 pm: The pack became too close, and a five car crash was started as Jimmie Johnson lost control. The race goes into another caution and what is likely to be the final pit.

6:18 pm: With 21 laps to go, the race is still under caution, but Mark Martin is in the lead out of the pits, followed by Carl Edwards, Reed Sorenson, Johnny Sauter, and Dale Jr. Clint Bowyer is up to 31st, just ahead of Montoya.

6:22 pm: With 18 laps left Biffle has moved up to 2nd, and Kenseth to 3rd. Martin is still in the lead, and Bowyer is 4.6 seconds off the pace.

6:26 pm: The lead pack seems to have broken into the top 4 and the rest. The top 4: Martin, Biffle, Kenseth, and Truex.

6:28 pm: Another Caution? Geez. Dave Blaney races through pit road, and runs right into Ken Schrader and Clint Bowyer. What's more, Carl Edwards seemed to damage his car.

6:33 pm: The cars will come out of caution with 10 laps or less to go. Mark Martin is in good position to hold off the competition long enough to win.

6:38 pm: Watch out for Jeff Burton; he's trying to get into the top 5. Kyle Busch is back in 2nd behind Martin. Bowyer is up to 22nd. He needs to salvage what's left of my prediction and get into the top half.

6:40 pm: Burton is trying to advance on the inside, while Biffle is trying on the outside. Suddenly Burton drops out.

6:41 pm: McMurray, Rudd, Truex and Dale Jr. crash, and we will get a green, white, checkered finish. McMurray lost control, and the rest were innocent bystanders. The leading pack is down to 5: Martin, Busch, and wait... Is Gilliland back in this one? Wow...

My man Clint Bowyer somehow manages to avoid the carnage. He is now 16th.

6:45 pm: There will now bw a red flag, followed by a green, white, and checkered. We basically only have two laps left. Martin is still in the lead. 28 drivers are still in the lead lap. If there are any more crashes, the race ends.

6:57 pm: The track is clear, and we are back running. Martin is in the lead, followed by Kyle Busch, Greg Biffle, David Gilliland, and Elliot Sadler.

7:01 pm: The green flag is about to come up. Bowyer has somehow moved up to 14th during the red. He is till within striking distance of cracking the top 10.

7:04 pm: Martin is holding on, but no one is trying to pass to the outside.

7:05 pm: There's a huge crash in the final lap, but Harvick comes around the outside, and just barely beats Mark Martin at the checkered flag! Kevin Harvick wins the Daytona 500 by 1/50th of a second.

He made a move from fourth on the final turn, and barely beats Martin at the line. Unbelievably, no caution is made. On the final turn, Clint Bowyer's car flips upside down, and drags in its roof across the finish line ON FIRE. He's okay, don't worry.

Nobody expected Mark Martin to finish this well, but Kevin Harvick is very lucky the caution wasn't called. Still, it was an unbelievable race by Harvick, who started 34th. Jeff Burton finished 3rd, David Ragan, a rookie, finished 5th, Kasey Kahne finished 7th, Jeff Gordon finished 12th, my man Clint Bowyer finished 18th upside down, and Montoya finished 19th.

The Bowyer crash looked something like this. Darrell Waltrip made a reference to this clip after the race referring to this crash. I couldn't believe it when I heard him say it: "You know what this looked like? Ricky Bobby. This was like Daytona Nights!"
