I ask myself this question every day when I think about whether I should post today and if I do what

I ask myself this question every day when I think about whether I should post today and if I do what I should write about and will anyone read it and if they do will they buy my services or products? That’s a lot of questions to ask and a lot of unanswered questions. If you wonder these same things too, let’s see if we can explore the answers together. If you happen to land on this blog and have some answers, please post a comment. And if you didn’t know this, when you leave a comment, you can have a link back to your website. My blog will have comments which means it looks like someone has read it, and you will get a free link to your site. So it’s a win for everyone.

Anyway, back to the questions. First, should I post today? Or how often should I post? I don’t know the answer to that, yet what I do know is every time I post I get a Google alert within a few hours. That means that Google is out there poking around the web picking up fresh content. This is a good thing. It raises your ranking in the search engines. I started out posting twice/week, then abandoned it altogether. Then started back daily, now it’s every other day. If I get a lot of visits, I’m encouraged to post more often; if I get fewer visits, I cut back. This is not a definitive answer by any means. You’ll have to feel it out and see what works best for you.

Next, what should I write about? Well, your area of expertise and your niche market primarily. I ghostwrite information products so I write mostly about that. However, Internet marketing is a broad topic area, so I have written about creating and marketing e-books, books, and other info-products, and peripherally about marketing through blogs, articles, and social networking. Lots to write about, and all of it is in my area of expertise. And some days, like today, I’m writing about what’s on my mind. Or I might write about something in the news that is connected to my topic.

Will anyone read my blog? At first I got little traffic, then it started to build, and one day I had peak traffic. I followed the comments and the links and found that Google blogs was responsible for a lot of that traffic and the subject and keywords were what drew the audience. I continue to investigate how people find blogs and what I can do to attract more traffic. It’s an ongoing learning process.

And lastly, will visitors buy my services and products? At this point, I don’t know the answer. I think if you get repeat visits you start to build a fan base. As people follow your blog, they get to know and respect you and if they have a need they may take the plunge and buy something from you. Because we can all get so much FREE information on the web, you have to make a good case for someone to take out their credit card and pay for information. This, too, is something I continue to investigate in the hopes of uncovering the mystery of selling online. It might help to have an email capture on your blog, and you will need HTML to do that.

If you have any answers to some of these questions, please leave your comments. I truly believe regular blogging should be part of any Internet marketing plan. Mix it up with your articles, press releases, advertising, and social networking and you have a recipe for success.

Happy Info-Products.

So for work, one of my self-assigned tasks it to reach out to pop culture blogs and create partnerships. And the one that I cared about most was Stuff White People Like, I mean...I'm kind of in love with the blog. (In a clearly I know I can't marry a blog sort of way, of course).

But, Christian Lander, the creator of the blog, emailed me back (and yes, for all of you that paused in shock...that was a real name written there). And I may have run around the office with a happy dance, jump and smile (one of the interns claims I did I happy clog and not a happy dance). All in all though, I got to meet him tonight. It's like the life goal I forgot about. I mean meeting Christian is right up there with me wanting to meet Deb of smittenkitchen, it just needs to happen.

But he signed my book, took a photo with me and my coworkers, and is going to work with my office. The happy dance I'm doing is never-ending and possibly all internal now as I sit and yawn on my couch.

SOOOOOOOOO HAPPY!!! And if you're wondering why a Kitchen-Aid is mentioned in the title...it's cause I self-identify with #54 on the Stuff White People Like List, kitchen gadgets, mostly these three paragraphs:

But, in order for them to truly enter into whitedom, they need to own the holy grail of white kitchens - the kitchen aid stand mixer. They will match this mixer to their kitchen’s color scheme and it will make up the focal point. And much like many religious artifacts, it will remain untouched for months and even years, sitting on the counter to be admired as a testament to their lifestyle.

Kitchen Gadgets also serve as one of the main reasons why white people get married. Look at their registry and you will find gadgets for any possible task in the kitchen. If you end up buying one of these for a white person, your card should make reference to them using a lot to make beautiful food that you hope you can eat one day. This kind of stuff goes over like gang busters.

...you should just throw out a combination of these words: “le Creuset, Calphalon, All Clad, Williams Sonoma, and Sur Le Table.” White people go so nuts when they hear these words, you won’t even have to finish your sentence.

However, to this all I have to say is....my lemongrass green Kitchen-Aid mixer is the center point of my small kitchen, purchased at Williams Sonoma, and I didn't have to get married and register for it...I just had to graduate from college (cause that is how ridiculous I am).

**Follow-up: I know I'm not white. But people, just let me go on this one. I'll come back to my usual confused multi-cultural, bi-racial self after the euphoric buzz wears off.

How long has everyone been telling you that Google loves blogs? Months? Years? Well, it’s tru

How long has everyone been telling you that Google loves blogs? Months? Years? Well, it's true, and I wanted to share an experience that helps reinforce that truth to you.

The Blog That Resurrected My Rankings

I had a site devoted to a particular type of exercise equipment. The site was in the top 7 results for its keywords in Google for over six months. Unfortunately I had server problems and the site went down for a few days. Google crawled the site constantly because it was well-linked, and so big G knew instantly that the site was down. Since it stayed down for a few days, Google must have decided it wasn't coming back up, and its rankings plummetted.

After the site did come back up, it reappeared in Google, but this time on the third page (ranking 25 - 28 for its keywords, on average). Its original page one rankings just wouldn't come back. I shrugged it off as a lesson learned and basically forgot about the site.

Early last week, though, I was testing a tool I'm creating that helps you write and post blog posts to Wordpress blogs super fast. I decided to setup a blog on the site that lost its rankings, just to test it out. I made a bunch of blog posts (they were post-dated so they would show up slowly over time), and sat back to see what would happen.

To my surprise, over the weekend my site jumped back onto page one for its rankings. I hadn't touched that site in months, and now it's ranking better than it ever was — at #4 for 3 great sets of keywords. This, of course, has spiked my AdSense earnings for the site.

Another nice benefit of the new blog is that the blog itself is getting some additional traffic from Google, even though the blog does not have any external links directly to it. Google is applying the authority of the site itself to the blog. Since the site is well-linked, the blog is given a bit of "trust" by Google and is appearing in the search results as well.

Scraper Sites Can Help You Rank

On a related note regarding blogs and traffic, I've recently setup a blog that automatically creates a bunch of posts each day based on a variety of keywords. This blog is a test for a larger idea I have in mind, and the test is working great, with the blog having achieved more than 12,000 unique visitors in the last 5 days. The vast majority of the traffic has come from Google.

As part of that same test, I setup a second, similar blog that does the same kind of thing. Despite the second blog actually having more content, it has (so far) received no joy from Google at all (it's not even indexed yet).

The difference is in the scraper sites that are referencing the content. The keywords that I'm creating content around for my successful blog is a scraper magnet — hundreds of scraper sites are auto-posting content from my own blog to theirs, and giving a reference link back to my blog posts to try and make it more legit.

How do these scraper sites know about my brand-new blog posts so fast? Because the blog is indexed by Google's blog search, and many scraper sites scrape results from that blog search to post to their own blogs. They also scrape many other blog search engines, and since my blog pings those search engines when I make a new post, the blog's content gets picked up and spread around fast.

Those links from these automated scraper sites have resulted in my blog quickly gaining hundreds of backlinks from all over the web, and that means great rankings for the pages of my blog.

The second test blog I setup, however, has not attracted the scraper blogs and so hasn't even been indexed in Google yet. It might seem strange that scraper sites can help you rank, but if they link back to the source of the content, they really can.

Trackbacks Are Your Friend

On a final note, I recommend setting up your blog to automatically post trackback links to the blog posts that you link out to. If you're not familiar with trackbacks, it's a simple concept: any time you link to an external blog post from within your own blog post, your blog posts a "comment" to the blog post you've linked to, letting the readers of that post know about your own post referencing it.

Now, not all blogs will approve your trackback link, but many will, and I've received literally thousands of visitors from a single trackback link appearing on a popular blog. So make sure you setup your blog to automatically post trackbacks to the blogs that you link out to — it can often result in a flood of traffic.

Ok so my bffs cat is sick and will probably be put down tomorrow...I was here for her but then AGAIN (yes I know I shouldn't) but I got on her account and saw that she messaged the guy that I hate AGAIN. She did it two other times but he ignored her and then this time she was talking about her cat to him and somethin about "magic hands" and he messaged back. It isn't just that but it's that she's reading his stuff and ignoring my comment because she was commenting me and now ignoring mine because of him. It's just I've been trying really hard to not let this get to me but it ISS!!!!!!!!!! I'm breathing and telling myself to forget her but it's getting hard. I took her a freaking jar of pickles to try to make her feel better and this is what she does!!! I mean yes she can talk to whoever she wants but ugh it just frustrates me that she's so desperate to talk to him!! She goes yeah at least I know how to talk to ppl unlike YOU. I mean I of course didn't know that she wanted to talk to him but ugh. It wouldn't be so bad if she wasn't ignoring my comments but just wow. I'm just trying to breathe and it's not helping that much. I just want to tell her something but of course I can't because she doesn't know I have her password which makes me a bad friends I know but jeez do you realize how much I wouldn't know if I didn't get on there?! ha O and nowwww she reads it once they're just messaging right. Shit I'm pissed. Oh and another thing. My mom said promise me you don't cuss!! I so do and I said I promise and I couldn't even look her in the eye. I want to tell her but I can't because she would be REALLLLLLY mad. So yes...I kinda feel better now that I've told this little story. She can talk to whoever she wants and if she needs a guys attention THAT bad well I guess she can have it. Yup I feel alot better now. Have a good day everybody!=)

Today is my blog's first birthday! I am pretty happy that I have kept this up over the past year. It has been cool to be able to go back through the months and read about what I was thinking of or doing at a certain time. In one year I have posted 404 entries, received 434 comments and had 22,640 hits. Not too shabby for a blog about a guy living in North Florida.

Since I started blogging there has been some big news in the Bonfanti household, the biggest being we have a baby on the way. I assume that once the little one gets here my blogging will go from a daily (usually) occurrence to a weekly one (if I am lucky). I also know that it will soon be plastered with picture of our kid doing anything and everything (look, it yawned! how cute, take a picture and let's post it!).

Despite my aversions to memes I guess that a blog's first birthday is a good reason to do one. The rules are to list 3 events, 2 birthdays, one death and a holiday that occurred on your blogs' birthday.

Events:

1866 - Tennessee becomes the first U.S. State readmitted to the Union following the Civil War

1929 - The Kellogg-Briand Pact, renouncing war as a tool of foreign policy, goes into effect

1983 - George Brett has a game winning home run nullified in the infamous "Pine Tar Incident"

Birthdays:

1897 - Amelia Earhart

1998 - Bindi Irwin

Death:

1862 - President Martin Van Buren

Holiday:

Pioneer Day in Utah

Let's hope that my second year of blogging will be as fun as the first!

Watching The Dark Knight in IMAX took the movie to a new plateau. It was....epic. It was worth the hour long drive to my closest IMAX Theater, It was worth waiting over an hour in line before the movie started (we were front of the line too ;) )... It was worth the gas ( $3.89/gallon now woot!). The movie transformed into an overall experience...From the cup shaking bass...to the GIANT SCREEN...my eyes and ears were very pleased. The theater was PACKED...our Imax usher told us that it was very rare for a movie to be sold out for a 4pm show on a Wednesday...I wasn't thrilled that the theater was packed like a sardine can...but Pete and I were sitting smack dab in the middle at perfect eye level. I felt like I was flying high above Gotham City as the opening scene began...I got the chills...and this was my SECOND time seeing the movie. I really wish I had waited and went to IMAX first. I think my overall impression of the movie might have been different. I was completely submerged into this movie. Heath Ledger's performance seemed even better the second time around...I could watch the minutes he is on-screen forever..He is hypnotizing...He IS the Joker..and I can't get enough!! I'm not going to get into movie details...I already wrote a review for that.....
*
It's worth the $11.50..It's worth the gas (unless you live close...you lucky bastard you!)...It's worth the wait in line...even it's your 4th, 7th, or 20th time seeing it...see it again...The Imax experience took The Dark Knight to a new level...I felt like I was standing on the streets of Gotham..Instead of sitting in an IMAX theater.

I am back online after three days with no Internet access.

Swedish Chekchouka nominated and challenged me to share my 7 favorite blogs, I'm not allowed to put hers because she put mine on her list. It was a bit difficult to select only seven as I regularly read more than that. My apologies to the bloggers whose blogs I enjoy but whom I did not select. I think it was Sartre who said "Choosing is renouncing". Here is my final choice:

- Leora's. A potpourri of ideas about Highland Park; books; Jewish topics; art, health, parsha, web design, kids, food, gardening and …
- Frumteacher's. Insights into History teaching from a Dutch frum teacher.
- Cynthia's. A mixture of posts about Jewish life, American politics, mothering, BlogHer ...
- Imabima's. Real-life Jewish parenting...from the laptop of a rabbi-mom of 3 kids on the NorthShore of Chicago...
- SuperRaizy's. A Brooklyn super mom's blog.
- Treppenwitz's. For his great and enlightening stories.
- TherapyDoc's. An intelligible resource on mental health and relationships, with a healthy dose of self.
