2 Kings 7:9 (NIV) "We're not doing right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves." 

This is a day of good news! The good news is of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world; the good news of the gospel.  God had wrought for us all a great victory. Through Jesus Christ, He has delivered us all from the hand of the enemy, from the famine of His word, and our spiritual famine. He has brought about healing and wholeness for all of us, because of Jesus. God has blessed us with so much. It is in Jesus Christ we find everything that we need!  

This what the Bible says in Isaiah 61:1 (NIV) about Jesus, “The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives, and release from darkness for the prisoners”.  

The Bible says in Matthew 4:23 (NIV), “Jesus went throughout Galilee , teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people”. 

The good news of the gospel is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes. 

My friend, consider our text today, 2 Kings 7:9 (NIV), "We're not doing right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves." Why should we keep this good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ to ourselves? Jesus has called every one of us to share the gospel, to be co-workers together in the great commission and go into all the world in His name, with good news. That Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world, that if you believe in Him you will be saved, and not only saved, but also anointed and appointed of God to live a life of purpose, meaning and power in the Holy Spirit.

John 15:2(NIV), “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”  

Only a good gardener will know when it’s right to prune, and how best to do it. No one likes to be pruned, because at the time, it can be painful, but the end result brings even more fruitfulness. 

I love the story of the great artist Michelangelo, who would go down to the quarry and find large lumps of stone that nobody else wanted, and carve something of beauty, a masterpiece, out from each of them. When he was asked how he managed to make beautiful statues of splendour he replied, "They were always there I just knocked the rough edges away." 

My friend, when in the hands of the 'Great Sculptor', our 'heavenly gardener', God looks at us, and sees in us something of beauty; of such splendour, a trophy of grace, a priceless masterpiece. However if we don’t let him prune us, we will never mature into the fruitful vine that God sees that we can be.  

Let us consider our text today, and let Jesus prune us, so that we will be even more fruitful for His kingdom.

श्री समीरलाल जी ने हिंदी में ब्लाग बढ़ाने तथा उन पर टिप्पणियां लिखने की बात कहीं है वह मेरे अभियान का एक भाग है पर मैं हिंदी ब्लाग जगत लिये पाठक जुटाने के अभियान को भी कम वरीयता नहीं देता। हिंदी ब्लाग में निराशाजनक स्थिति को मैं भी अनुभव करता हूं पर इसके लिये पाठकों की कमी भी एक महत्वपूर्ण पक्ष है। अंतर्जाल हिंदी ब्लाग के लिये पाठकों की संख्या नगण्य है। इसलिये अनेक ब्लाग लेखक केवल हिंदी के ब्लाग सभी एक जगह दिखाने वाले एग्रीगेटरों पर हिंट पाने के लिये लिखते हैं और वहां साहित्य सृजन जैसा वातावरण अभी नहीं बन पाया है। अनेक ब्लाग लेखक अपने पाठों में यह बात लिख चुके हैं कि वह लिखने तो आये थे साहित्य और यहां अब कुछ अन्य लिख रहे हैं। मैं उनका लिखा पढ़कर यह बात मानता भी हूं कि वह वाकई साहित्य लिखते होंगे। देव और कृतिदेव फोंट में टाईप करने वाले अनेक लेखक यूनिकोड में लिखते हुए ब्लाग पर आये तो स्वयं मूल स्वरूप खो बैठे जिनमें मैं भी स्वयं भी शामिल हूं। अब देव और कृतिदेव को यूनिकोड मेंे बदलने वाला टूल आया है तब अनेक लोग खुश हुए क्योंकि उनको लगा कि वह अब पहले से अच्छे परिणाम निकाल सकते हैं। आज इतना बड़ा लेख लिखने का साहस मेरे अंदर केवल इसीलिये आया क्योंकि सीधे कृतिदेव में लिख रहा हूं और यह टूल आये अभी अधिक वक्त नहीं हुआ। ऐसे में मुझे विश्वास है कि आगे और ब्लाग लेखक बेहतर लिखकर लेखक जुटाने का प्रयास करेंगे। इस समय जो हिंदी ब्लाग जगत पर लिखा जा रहा है उस पर दृष्टिपात किये बिना हम अगर किसी अभियान पर निकलेंगे तो शायद वहीं होंगे जहां अभी हैं।

शुरूआती दिनों में मैंने भी एग्रेगेटरों पर हिट पाने के लिये ऐसी पोस्टें लिखीं पर मुझे ध्यान आया कि एक लेखक के लिये अपने पाठकों की संख्या बढ़ाने वाले व्यापक आधार वाले विषयों पर लिखना आवश्यक है। मैने हास्य कविताएं, आलेख, हास्य व्यंग्य, कहानियां, लघु कथाएं बहुत कठिनाई से यूनिकोड में लिखीं पर एग्रीगेटरों पर उनके हिट ने मुझे निराश किया। फिर भी मैं आगे बढ़ता रहा यह सोचकर कि देखा जायेगा कि आगे क्या होता है? ब्लाग लेखक साथी हो सकते हैं पाठक नहीं यह बात मुझे अपने बढ़ते पाठक देखकर बहुत बाद में समझ आयी। तब मैंने तय किया कि अब आम पाठक को लक्ष्य कर लिखना चाहिए। फिर यह भी देखा कि मेरे ब्लाग पर आने वाला पाठक अन्य ब्लाग भी देखे ताकि वह अधिक से अधिक हिंदी भाषा के ब्लागों से परिचित हो सके इसलिये मैंने दूसरे ब्लाग लेखकों के भी ब्लाग लिंक किये ताकि अगर पाठक मुझसे असंतुष्ट हो तो वह दूसरे का ब्लाग लेखकों का लिखा पढ़कर वह यह समझ सके कि अंतर्जाल पर हिंदी में लिखने वाले भी कम नहीं है। यह मैने बहुत देर से किया फिर भी मेरे ब्लाग दूसरे ब्लागों पर पाठक भेजते हैं। यह मैं बीस हजार की पाठक संख्या पार करने वाले ब्लाग की सूचनाओं में बता चुका हूं। उसमें यह भी बता चुका हूं कि किस तरह लोग जहां हास्य की सामग्री देखते ही झपट पड़ते हैं। उसमें ‘हंसते रहो’ और ‘ठहाका’ ब्लाग को अधिक संख्या में मेरे ब्लाग से पाठक मिलना इसी बात का प्रमाण हैं। मेरे ब्लाग से उड़न तश्तरी ब्लाग पर भी पाठक जाते हैं और श्रीसमीरलाल जी के पास कोई काउंटर हो तो वह इसे देख सकते हैं। मैं श्रीसमीरलाल को बहुत पसंद करता हूं पर मेरे अज्ञात पाठक मेरी इस राय को नहीं जानते इसलिये उड़न तश्तरी के बाद लिंक किये गये ब्लागों पर अधिक गये-केवल इसलिये ही न कि उसका नाम वहां किसी हास्य सामग्री होने का संदेश नहीं देता।
केवल नये ब्लाग बनवाने और टिप्पणियां लिखने से हिंदी ब्लाग जगत के लाभ की मैं संभावना नहीं देखता। सबसे बड़ी बात यह है कि विषय भी आम पाठक से सरोकार रखने वाला होना चाहिए। इस हिंदी ब्लाग जगत में मेरे कुछ मित्र हैं जो हमेशा ही कमेंट देते हैं और कुछ ब्लाग लेखक जब कोई जोरदार विषय होता है तो इस बात की परवाह नहीं करते कि मैंने उनको कभी टिप्पणी दी कि नहीं वह लिख जाते हैं।
श्री समीरलाल जी अकेले ऐसे ब्लाग लेखक हैं जो ब्लाग से हटकर लिखे गये विषयों पर भी बहुत सारी टिप्पणियां प्राप्त कर लेते हैं पर इसका श्रेय उनके मधुर व्यवहार को जाता है और टिप्पणियां तो इतनी करते हैं कि मैं भी सोचता हूं कि यह व्यक्ति अगर ऐसा न करे तो मैं लिखूंगा कि नहीं। वह बहुत अच्छा लिखते हैं पर इतनी सारी हिट दिलाने के लिये यह अकेला कारण नहीं है।

इस अंतर्जाल पर जो ब्लाग लेखक लंबे समय तक लिखना चाहते हैं उनको सोचना अंतर्मुखी होगा पर लिखना बहिर्मुखी होगा। मेरे दिमाग में कुछ विचार हैं जो इस प्रकार हैं।

(1) अपने ब्लाग पर दूसरे के ब्लाग को भी लिंक दे। अकेले सफलता पाने का का विचार त्याग दें। कोई हमारा मित्र है या नियमित रूप से टिप्पणी करने वाला ब्लाग लेखक तो लिंक दें अच्छी बात है पर यह भी देखें कि क्या कोई ऐसे ब्लाग लेखक भी हैं जो आपको कमेंट नहीं देते पर उनकी सामग्री पठनीय है तो उसे भी लिंक दें। हो सकता है उसकी वजह से आपका ब्लाग पढ़ने आम पाठक आये क्योंकि वह सोचेगा कि यह आपके ब्लाग में लगा ब्लाग है वह ऊपर उसका पता थोड़े ही देखता है। मेरे मित्र उड़न तश्तरी और ममता श्रीवास्तव को पढ़ते हैं पर वह जाते मेरे ही ब्लाग से ही हैं-उनके ब्लाग का कोई अपने कंप्यूटर पर पता नहीं रखता। हो सकता है कोई ऐसे भी लोग हैं जो मेरे ब्लाग पर इसलिये आते हों कि किसी दूसरे ब्लाग लेखक का ब्लाग मेरे ब्लाग से चिपका समझते होंं। जब तक नारद अभिव्यक्ति पत्रिका से लिंक था मैं वहीं से उस पर जाता था-हो सकता है कि कुछ पाठक मेरे जैसे ही हों। अगर कोई अच्छा लिखने वाला ब्लाग लेखक है तो बिना किसी पूर्वाग्रह के उसका ब्लाग लिंक करें। इसके लिये आपको सभी ब्लाग पढ़ना पढ़ेंगे।
(2)ब्लाग लेखकों को ऐसे विषयों पर ही ध्यान देना चाहिए जो सार्वजनिक हों। अगर कोई समाचार दे रहें हैं तो उसके साथ एक संपादक के रूप में भी विचार व्यक्त करें। याद रखिये जो आम पाठक यहां आते हैं वह उस ब्लाग लेखक की मौलिकता देखना चाहते हैं। महापुरुषों के संदेश लिखने वाली पोस्टों पर अनेक लोगों ने टिप्पणी लिखी थी कि अगर आप इनके साथ अपने विचार रखते तो बहुत अच्छा होता।
(3)अपनी पोस्ट के साथ अधिकतम श्रेणियां रखें। कभी-कभी अंग्रेजी में भी टिप्पणियां रखें। हमारा ब्लाग अंग्रेजी वालें भी पढ़ें यह तो चाहते हैं पर इस बात का ध्यान नहीं रखते कि अंग्रेजी वाले वहां कैसे आयेंगे। इसके अलावा अंग्रेजी शब्दों से भी हिंदी पाठक ब्लाग पर आते हैं
(4)आलेख, निबंध, कविता, हास्य कविता, व्यंग्य और कहानी जैसे शब्द शीर्षक में लिख दें तो बढिया। मेरी वही हास्य कविताएं लोग पढ़ रहे हैं जिन पर मैंने ऊपर ही लिख दिया है।
मैं जैसा हूं सबके सामने हैं। एग्रीगेटरों पर मैं हिट नहीं पाता यह सच है पर मुझे लगता है कि आम पाठकों का कुछ रुझान मेरी तरफ है। आम पाठकों की बात तो मैं ही लिखता हूं बाकी तो कोई नहीं बताता कि उसकी तरफ कैसा रुझान है? यह सबसे महत्वपूर्ण है। एग्रीगेटरों पर अनेक ब्लाग लेखकों से मित्रता मेरे लिए एक बोनस है क्योंकि मेरा मुख्य लक्ष्य पाठकों तक पहुंचना है। अभी सफलता दूर है पर मैंने भी ऐसा क्या लिख दिया है कि उछलता फिरूं। सच तो यह है कि कृतिदेव का यूनिकोड टूल मिलने के बाद तो मैंने सहज भाव से लिखना शुरू किया है और मैं जानता हूं कि यह सफलता अकेले चलने से नहीं मिलेगी इसलिये चाहता हूं कि अन्य ब्लाग लेखक भारी सफलता पायेंगे तो कुछ मेरे हिस्से में भी आयेगी। आखिरी बात यह है कि मैं कोई सिद्ध व्यक्ति नहीं हूं जो यह कहूं कि जो मैने लिखा है वही सही है। जो अनुभव किया वही लिख रहा हूं और हो सकता है कई इससे सहमत न हों और इसकी संभावना रहेगी भी क्योंकि ब्लागवाणी के हिट इस बात का प्रमाण है कि मेरे हाथ से कोई हिट पोस्ट नहीं निकली। वैसे भी मैं अपने कंप्यूटर की समस्याओं से एक महीने से परेशान हूँ और इधर कही बिजली तो कभी आंधी मेरी पोस्ट को रोक देती हैं।शेष फिर कभी

The overall popular posts are ones I'd rather not be that popular. Back in the fall I posted several times about the local Bonanzas closing. One night while picking up my son from work, I noticed the Golden Corral was taking coupons issued for the local Bonanzas because it was up on their changeable letter sign. So I posted it along with the other Bonanza stuff. Thus, apparently every time some bargain shopping coupon clipping Golden Corral customer is looking for coupons, they end up here. That's the second most popular post.

The all-time most popular post is when I first wrote about the television minister Paula White getting divorced. It sparked some comments. It certainly gets more hits than a follow up post I did a bit later on.

Well Kavips, that's more than what you asked for. Next Friday should be "bonus track" free.

Oh yeah, I shouldn't forget my lame attempts at doing an "around the horn" posts. Trying to steer clear of photocopying everyone else's titles, i decided to honor different horns such as the tuba and flugelhorn.

John 3:14 to 15 (NIV), “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.” 

In Numbers 21:7-9, it says, “The people came to Moses and said, ‘We sinned when we spoke against the LORD and against you. Pray that the LORD will take the snakes away from us.’ So Moses prayed for the people. The LORD said to Moses, ‘Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.’  So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived.”

It is very interesting that the symbol for healing and medicine is that of a snake wrapped around a staff. A mirror image of the staff that Moses held up for the people to look at, and then be healed.   All that the people were asked to do, was "look and live." But this took faith.

My friend, our text for today says in John 3:14 to 15 (NIV), “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”

So we must lift up Jesus Christ, look to Him in faith and live! Look to Jesus Christ for your healing, for your deliverance, for your freedom from the venomous bite of the enemy. Look to Jesus and live!

On the cross of Calvary on top of Golgotha 's hill, Jesus Christ was lifted up for all the world to see. Look to Jesus and live! Look to the cross of Calvary , and by faith receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour. Look to Jesus and live!

What a vivid picture of Jesus we see in our text today. We see Jesus before the people, not crowned with gold or silver, or any ornamented jewels, but with a crown of thorns.

We see Jesus, the Monarch of the realm of suffering, wearing a symbol of shame. Where the enemy wanted this crown of thorns to represent a crushing defeat, Jesus used it as an instrument of victory over the curse of barrenness. As the hymn writer once said, "See from His head, His hands, His feet, sorrow and love, flow mingled down. Did`er such love or sorrow meet, or thorns compose so rich a crown?"  

When Jesus wore the crown of thorns, He wore the curse of barrenness that we should live in His fruitfulness. When Jesus was presented before the crowd, wearing the crown of thorns, they saw only a blood-covered figure with His body beaten and torn. They no longer wanted to even look upon Him. The Bible says in Isaiah 53:3 to 5, “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces, he was despised, and we esteemed him not.  Surely, he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.” 

Who defeats my fiercest foes? Who consoles my saddest woes? Who receives my fainting heart, healing all its hidden smart? Jesus crowned with thorns!

My friend, one day soon Jesus will come forth, not wearing a crown of thorns, but a crown of glory, of love, of life, of peace, for He is crowned forevermore the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. 

Just as the old hymn writer says, in the words of this song:

Crown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon his throne.
Hark! How the heavenly anthem drowns, all music but its own.
Awake, my soul, and sing, of him who died for thee.
And hail him as thy matchless King, through all eternity.

The Apostle Paul before he came to Jesus, persecuted believers. The Bible says in Acts 7:58 (NIV) They dragged him (Steven) out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their clothes at the feet of a young man called Saul. Also in Acts 8:1 And Saul was there, giving approval to his death. Then again in Acts 8:3 And Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.

Saul (who was called Paul) had such hatred against those who believed in Jesus Christ, that he had them thrown in prison, where they were tortured. Then one day as Saul was traveling to the next town to persecute even more followers of Jesus, the Lord Jesus reached down to him, and said in Acts 9:4 to 5 " Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? " Who are you Lord?" Saul asked, " I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting" The Lord replied.

God turned Paul's life around, where he went on to be the Apostle Paul who loved the church and went everywhere preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

Paul received forgiveness; a pardon for his past, he had the slate wiped clean. He who said, "He was the worst of sinners."

My friend, there is no one too far gone, no one too lost that God cannot reach out to. If God can reach out to Paul, then God can reach out to anyone. The Bible says in John 3:16  (DARBY) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him may not perish, but have life eternal. "Whosoever", includes you, me and anyone who believes.

You may think to yourself, "But how can God forgive me, when I had done so many bad things in my life?" My friend if God can forgive Paul and save him, for him to serve God, in the extraordinary way that he did, then God can do the same with you. Because he loves you.

I like mushrooms in my salad and on my pizza. I would never eat some I just picked out of a field, but Delmar Dustpan reports that a Laurel couple did just that.

Brian is pondering healthy thoughts. He's adding more water to his diet. It seems that adding more water to my life also makes me feel better, although I prefer that water to come in the form of sweet tea or fresh ground coffee. Can anybody say "amen" to that?

Paul informs his readers about a song first published 100 years ago this week. This was a very popular song, still sung today, whose first line is, "Katie Casey was base ball mad."

I have judged that Jeff The Baptist's post on Twisted Verses is worth a read.

Michael took his readers out shopping recently and confirms the pain in our wallets. I'm happy to know that there is someone else that does most of their grocery shopping at Walmart. Out family does venture into Food Lion in Laurel if we need something right away or if it's on sale. If we are down in Salisbury, we will check on Giant or Superfresh for sale items, particularly boneless chicken and some of that 8 o'clock coffee. Mmm.

Wow, three of these posts were about food. It wasn't done on purpose, I promise. But, right now I'm thinking about that pot of coffee...

हमारी श्रीमती जी चुप हो गयीं। सुबह ही एक सज्जन आये और बोले-‘‘देखो यार, अपने देश के  बाहर के लोग क्या कह रहे हैं  भारत के लोग अधिक खाते हैं इसलिये दुनियां में खाद्यान्न का संकट है। अब बताओ, इस देश के लोग गरीब थे तो झंडे और डंडे लेकर इस देश पर विचाराधाराओं के साथ हमला करते थे। सरकारीकरण खत्म करो उदारीकरण चलो। अब कह रहे हैं कि अधिक खाते हैं। अब क्या रोटी भी पेट भरकर  नहीं खायें?’

हमने कहा-‘‘भरपेट तो खाना नहीं चाहिए। जरूरत से एक रोटी कम खाना चाहिए।
वह सज्जन बोले-‘‘यार तुम जैसा तो कोई हो नहीं सकता कि एक समय खाना खाये।’
हमने कहा-‘‘हम आजकल शारीरिक मेहनत कम कर रहे हैं इसलिये कम खाते हैं।
हमारी श्रीमती उनसे परिचित थीं और उनसे बोलीं-‘‘कहां एक समय खाते हैं? रात को आते ही चाय के साथ बिस्किट और रात को दूध के कप के साथ टोस्ट जरूर खाते हैं। वह क्या खाने से कम है?’

हमने सोचा झूठ बोलने से कोई फायदा नहीं है और हमने कहा-‘हम कम कहते हैं कि नहीं लेते?’
वह सज्जन बोले-‘यह तो हम भी करते है पर फिर भी खाना खाते हैं। खाने के बाद दूध का ग्लास जरूर लेते हैं। हा, उसके साथ टोस्ट वगैरह नहीं लेते। भाभीजी, आप क्या समझ रही हो कि केवल आप लोग ही दूध पीते हैं। खाने के बाद हम दूध न पियें तो नींद ही नहीं आये।’
हमने कहा-‘पर आप खाने को लेकर इतने परेशान क्यों हो रहे हैं? आपके लड़के की शादी में आयेंगे तो जरूर हम भी जमकर खायेंगे जैसे दूसरे। ऐसी कोई कसम नहीं खा रखी कि रात को कभी नहीं खायेंगे। हां, जबसे योग साधना शूरू की है तब से रात को खाने की चिंता से मुक्त हो गये हैं पर आपको कभी यह नहीं कहेंगे कि रात का भोजन लेना छोड़ दें। कहने वाला कुछ भी कहता रहे।’

वह बोले-‘मुद्दे की बात यह है कि क्या वाकई हम बहुत खाते हैं?’
हमने कहा-‘‘अधिक मत सोचो? पहले ही तुम मधुमेह की शिकायत करते हो  और उसमें फायदा उन कंपनियों का ही होगा जो बाहर की हैं क्योंकि उनकी गोलियों से ही तुम खाना पचा पाते हो। हो सकता है कि योग साधना के प्रचार से  अब स्वस्थ लोगों की संख्या बढ़ रही हो और उन पर ‘अधिक खाने’ के शगूफे से तनाव बढ़ाकर फिर उनको बीमार बनाया जाये यही इसके पीछे यही चाल हो सकती है।
वह सज्जन बोले-‘‘पर तुमने यह अभी तक नहीं बताया कि क्या हम भारतीय अधिक खाते हैं?’
हमने कहा-‘‘इस देश में एक सौ पांच करोड़ लोग रहते हैं। कहीं लोग गेंहूं अधिक खाते हैं तो कही चावल तो कहीं कुछ और। किसी के पास कोई पैमाना नहीं है। घर में चार एक आयु वर्ग के चार सदस्य होते हैं पर उनके खाने की मात्रा अलग-अलग होती है। अब कैसे कहें कि इस देश के लोग अधिक खाते हैं या कम।’
वह सज्जल बोले-‘हम तो पिछले दस साल से देख रहे हैं कि अपने घर में जितना गेंहूं आता है उससे अधिक कभी लेते नहीं है। बल्कि बाहर के खाने से उसकी खपत कम होती जा रही है। छोटे बच्चे तो तमाम तरह की चिप्स वगैरह खाकर पेट भरते हैं, पीजा, बर्गर और पैट्रीज खाकर पेट भरेंगे तो फिर घर में कहां खायेंगे?’
हमने कहा-‘फिर बाहर खाने से दूसरे लोगों को खाते दिखते हैं। पैसे की आवाजाही सड़क पर होने से बाहर के लोगों को दिख रही हैं इसलिये ऐसी बातें कर रहे हैं। उनको बाजार में खाने के स्थानों पर लोगों की भीड़ और पैसे का बहाव देखकर ऐसा  लगता है कि यह देश बहुत खाता है।’
वह सज्जन चिंता में पड़े रहे तो आखिर हमारी श्रीमती जी ने कहा-‘भाई साहब, इतनी चिंता में आप पड़े क्यों हैं? इस देश के लोग खाते हैं तो किसी से छीनकर थोड़े ही खाते हैं। किसी के खाने में नजर तो नहीं डालते। किसी को सुखी देखकर उससे छीनते तो नहीं हैं? किसी के घर पर जाकर लूटपाट तो नहीं करते। आप यह बताईये हम आपके घर रात के खाने पर कब आयें? आप तो भाभीजी और बच्चों को लेकर कभी खाने पर लेकर  आते ही नहीं।’
 
वह सज्जन बोले-‘आप कमाल कर रही हो? इतनी बहस हो गयी खाने पर और आप फिर खाने की बात  लेकर बैठ गयीं। कभी आयेंगे चाय पीने पर आप खाने के जबरदस्ती करतीं हैं इसीलिये नहीं हम परिवार सहित आपके घर नहीं आते। हां, आप एक बार खाने पर आयें तो फिर सोचेंगे।’
फिर हमने बातचीत का विषय बदला और वह चले गये तो श्रीमतीजी ने कहा-‘‘पर यह कहा किसने है कि भारत के लोग खाते अधिक हैं?’

हमने कहा-‘‘हमें पता है पर तुम जानने की कोशिश कर अपनी चिंता क्यों बढ़ा रही हो। अधिक चिंता शरीर को हानि पहुंचाती है।’
वह बाहर जाते हुए बोलीं-हां यह तो बात है। वैसे आज अखबार में ऐसा कोई ऐसा शीर्षक तो देखा था पर खबर पूरी नहीं पढ़ी। अच्छा हुआ नहीं पढ़ी। बिना मतलब की खबर पढ़ने से क्या फायदा?’

How to Make a Duct Tape Wallet

Everybody needs a wallet, right? If you have a taste for the unconventional, or you're simply a stubborn do-it-yourselfer, then whip out that roll of duct tape and make your own wallet!

Steps

1. Rip a strip of tape at least 10.5 inches (215 mm) in length and place it sticky side up on your working surface.
2. Rip a second piece of equal length and place sticky side down halfway over the first strip. Fold the rest of the strip facing up over the second strip.
3. Flip over the two strips and place a third strip sticky side down covering the remaining sticky part of the second strip. Flip the sheet again and continue extending the size of the sheet until you've created a large sheet of duct tape that is 8.5 inches (215 mm) by 7 inches (175 mm).
4. Trim all the

edges.

1. Fold the wallet in half and tape 3 sides (bottom and two sides) to create a large pocket to hold bills.
2. To create credit or business card pockets, make another sheet that's 4 by 3.5 inches (100 mm by 90 mm).
3. Fold 1.5 inches (40 mm) over. To create two more pockets, repeat the step above and then tape the two pieces together, taping the second pocket a little lower on top of the first piece.
4. Tape the edges of the pockets and then tape the whole piece to the large pocket. To create another pocket, leave the inside part untaped.
5. Make a sheet of tape (as in the first step) larger than your ID card. Cut the sheet so that there is a 5 mm frame (big enough so you can see your picture and info, but small enough so the ID can't fall through the opening). Now trim the outside so it is slightly larger in all directions than your ID. Tape three sides of this window to the inside of your wallet, or on top of the credit card holder. It'll take a some trial and error to get it right, but it will be a great addition to the wallet. When you're done, the ID should be able to slide into the untaped side of the holder, and once in, not fall through the open window.
6. Tape the completed pocket to the large pocket and again, you can create an extra pocket if you wish by leaving the inside part untaped.
7. Put your money, ID, and cards in your wallet and go show off your new creation!

Tips

• There are many ways to personalize this design. Some other ideas are coin pockets within the large bill pocket and placing flaps on the credit card holders so business cards don't fall out when the wallet gets dropped.
• Use a sheet protector and cut out a piece of the clear plastic to cover the open window over your ID
• Index cards can be used to give it some structure. It also gives something for the duct tape to stick to. Of course, then it won't be made of only duct tape.
• Duct tape comes in colors too. Try out combinations, and find one you like.

Steps

1. Get out a roll of duct tape and cut a piece with enough length to wrap around your wrist, and leave about an inch extra.
2. Cut a slot about half an inch long at the end of each end of the tape, so that when it is folded, the sticky side of the tape at each end will be exposed.
3. Cut off one of the two slits off each end so it has one on each of the opposite ends.
4. Fold in half, color facing up.
5. Wrap it around your wrist, and using the sticky parts at the ends, stick it together.

Tips

अब समझ में आने लगा है कि दोनों ही बातें सत्य के दो पहियों की तरह है जिन पर जीवन का रथ चल रहा है। अब देखिये जब देश गरीब कहलाता था तो यहां के कुछ लोग विश्व में चमकते थे। कुछ ने खेलों में तो कुछ ने अध्यात्म में नाम कमाया। मैं यहां खेलों के बारे में अधिक लिखना चाहता हूं। भारत हाकी में आठ बार ओलंपिक और विश्व कप में विजेता रहा चुका हैं। 1971 में हाकी में तो 1983 में भारत ने विश्व कप क्रिकेट कप जीता। उसके बाद तो सब थम सा गया। 1983 में भारत की आर्थिक रूप से कोई ताकत नहीं थी पर उसने विश्व कप जीता जिसने यहां इतनी लोकप्रियता पायी कि उसको नियंत्रण करने वाली संस्था बीसीसीआई दुनियां की सबसे अमीर संस्था बन गयी। मगर क्रिकेट! यहां के चयनकर्ता मानते हैं कि यहां अब प्रतिभाएं नहीं हैं।  अब उसके विकास का काम फिर शुरू करने के लिये विदेशी खिलाडियों को नीलामी में खरीद कर कुछ टीमों के मैच करवाये जा रहे हैं कि अब सीखो क्रिकेट। यानि 1983 के बाद पैसा खूब आता गया पर हमारी क्रिकेट प्रतिभा कम होती गयी। हाकी में 2010 के विश्वकप का आयोजन भारत करने जा रहा है जबकि विश्व में उसकी इस खेल में कोई हैसियत नहीं है और अपने पड़ौस में हो रहे ओलंपिक में हमारी भागीदार नगण्य हो गयी है।

अब सवाल उठता है कि विश्व कप की मेजबानी क्यों मिली? क्योंकि यहां खेलों पर पैसा खर्च किया जा सकता है प्रतियोगिताओं के लिये वह जरूरी है। मतलब अब हमारी पूछ विश्व में पैसे खर्च के कारण बढ़ी है न कि अपनी प्रतिभा के कारण। मैने एक पश्चिमी विशेषज्ञ का भारत में यह कथन कहीं पढ़ा था कि ‘ भारत एक ऐसा अमीर देश है जहां गरीब लोग अधिक रहते हैं‘। अगर आप देश में चल रहे नाटकों को देखें तो लगता है कि सब जगह पैसा बरस रहा है और ऐसा लग रहा है कि हर आदमी करोड़पति होने की तरफ बढ़ रहा है।
महत्वहीन क्रिकेट मैचों को देखने के लिये लोग स्टेडियमों मे भागे जा रहे हैं। बैट-बाल को द्वंद्व देखने के लिये हजारों लोग टिकट खरीद कर मैदान में नाचते हैं। टीवी और रेडियों पर लोगों के लिये पुरस्कारों की भीड़ लगी जा रही है। एक अजीब सा माहौल है। एक तरफ बढ़ती महंगाई और जलसंकट और बिजली के अभाव से ग्रस्त देश में ऐसा वातावरण रहना अपने आप में आश्चर्यजनक लगता है।

इस देश में न तो धन पहले कम था न आज है समस्या उसके वितरण की है-अर्थशास्त्र पढ़ने वाला हर आदमी इस बात को जानता है। दूसरी समस्या है कुप्रबंध जो कि आज के समय में सबसे अधिक है। लोग कहते है कि भारत के लोग अपने देश में ठीक काम नहीं करते पर विदेश में उनका प्रदर्शन अच्छा है। यह बात नहीं है। सत्य तो यह है कि यहां प्रबंध कौशल के अभाव में उनका प्रदर्शन ठीक नहीं रहता  क्योंकि जो तकनीकी विशेषज्ञता या  किसी विशेष काम में योग्यता होने पर भी उसे जिस प्रकार के प्रबंधन की आवश्यकता है वह यहां नहीं मिल पाता। बाहर भी भारत के लोग जो हैं उनमें कोई प्रबंधन के कारण ख्याति अर्जित नहीं कर सका। सभी खेल संघों की हालत देखें तो वह कुप्रबंध (भ्रष्टाचार भी उसका ही हिस्सा है) का शिकार हैं। जिन लोगों का यहां पद मिल गया वह तो अपने आपको राजा और अपने से नीचे वाले को प्रजा समझने लगता है। याद करें अभी जो खिलाडियों की बोली लगी थी उसे लगवाने एक अंग्रेज विद्वान की सेवायें लीं गयी जिसने तमाम तरह के नियम भी बनाये। भारत के जो लोग विदेशों में अमीर बने हैं वह प्रबंध कौशल के कारण नहीं बल्कि व्यवसायिक कौशल के कारण हंै। उनको विदेशों के योग्य प्रबंध विशेषज्ञों की सेवायें मिलतीं हैं।
हैरानी की बात यह है कि किसी समय गरीब कहलाने वाले इस देश के आर्थिक रूप से ताकतवर होने की बात तो हो रही है पर सामाजिक और क्रीड़ा के क्षेत्र में इसका पिछड़ापन बढ़ता ही जा रहा है। क्रिकेट प्रतियोगिताओं के हजारों करोड़ के लेनदेन की आंकड़े चकित कर देते हैं पर खेलने के नाम इसके खिलाडियों की हालत बहुत दयनीय है। आजकल जो प्रतियोगिता चल रही है उसमें विदेशी खिलाडियों के खेल को देखकर ऐसा लगता है कि भारतीय खिलाडी कभी-कभार ही अच्छा खेल सकते हैं वह भी इसलिये ताकि टीम में उनकी जगह बनी रहे।

हाकी में तो इतनी हास्यास्पद स्थिति देश में ही देखी जा सकती है। 15-16 वर्षों से हाकी टीम गड्डे में जाती दिख रही थी पर कोई हाथ लगाने को तैयार नहीं था। आखिर विश्व ओलंपिक संघ ने जब धमकाया तब कहीं यहां के लोग अपनी निद्रा से जागे।  इससे यह समझ में आ सकती है कि हमारी बुद्धि आज भी विदेशों की तरफ बंधुआ मजदूरों की तरह देखती है। विश्व ओलंपिक महासंघ भी इसलिये जागा क्योंकि उसको यहां विश्व कप हाकी प्रतियोगिता करानी है और अगर भारत की टीम उसमें ऐसी ही रही तो उसकी प्रतियोगिता का मजा खराब हो जाता और फिर यहां से पैसे की उगाही शायद वैसी नहीं हो पाती-प्रायोजक भारतीय कंपनियों या यहां सक्रिय विदेशी कंपनियों को ही करना है और यहां भले ही दिखावे के हीरो हों पर होने तो चाहिए वरना उनके उत्पादों का विज्ञापन कैसे होगा? धन के बल पर प्रायोजन मिल गया पर प्रतिभा कहां से आयेगी? ऐसा नहीं है कि इस देश में प्रतिभाओं की कमी है पर उनको खोजने और उनका मार्ग प्रशस्त करने वाले प्रबंधकों का यहां अभाव है क्योंकि यहां के अमीर चाहे कितना भी पश्चिम का अनुकरण कर लें पर किसी नयी प्रतिभा को प्रोत्साहन वह तब तक नहीं देते जब तक कोई उनके सामने जाकर  मस्तक न झुकाये। सभी प्रदर्शन व्यवसायों (खेल, फिल्म और टीवी) में प्रभावशाली लोगों का बोलबाला है और सभी अपने लोगों को चमकाना चाहते हैं। फिल्म की हालत तो यह है कि आज देश का कोई युवक हीरो बनने की सोचता भी नहीं है क्योंकि वह तो पुराने हीरो के लिये सुरक्षित हो गयी हैं। कहने को इस देश के निर्माता दंभ भरते हैं कि हाॅलीवुड की बराबरी करेंगे पर उनमे व्यवसायिकता के भाव का अभाव है। फिल्में बनाते हैं और हिंदी फिल्में  देखने वाले लोग इतनी संख्या में हैं कि रद्दी फिल्म बनाने वाले को भी  आर्थिक  लाभ हो ही जाता है पर इसका मतलब यह नहीं कि उनकी फिल्में कोई ऊंची श्रेणी  की हैं। हाॅलीवुड में शुद्ध रूप से व्यवसायिक भाव से फिल्में बनती हैं और वहां कोई निर्माता या निर्देशक अपने बेटे या बेटी को फिल्म में इस तरह हीरो-हीरोइन नहीं बनाता जैसे यहां बनाते हैं।

मतलब यह है कि पैसा आने से बुद्धि नहीं आ जाती-यह बात भी हमारे बुजुर्ग सही कह गये हैं। इसके अलावा आर्थिक विकास का आशय यह भी नहीं है कि लोगों का बौद्धिक विकास हो जायेगा यह बात अच्छी तरह से समझी जा सकती है। भारत में तो एक बात और भी है कि यहां तो लोगों को बौद्धिक रूप से भ्रमित रखकर ही पैसा कमाया जा सकता है शायद इसलिये ही कथित आर्थिक विकास प्रचार में बहुत सुनाई देता है पर जमीन पर परिलक्षित नहीं होता।

कुछ दिनों से ब्लागस्पाट के ब्लाग भी पता नहीं किन ऐसे लोगों की पकड़ में आ जाते हैंे जो अंग्रेजी में कुछ कमेंट चिपका देते हैं। जब उस ब्लागर ने ऐसे टूल की बात की तो मुझे यकीन हो गया कि ऐसा कोई टूल है जो हिंदी से अंग्रेजी में अनुवाद कर रहा है। आज श्रीअनुनाद सिंह ने इसकी चिट्ठाकार चर्चा में जानकारी दी तो मैंने एक दो लाइन लिख कर प्रयोग किया। ऐसा लगा कि ठीकठाक है। पिछले एक माह में श्रीअनुनाद सिंह ने यह तीसरा टूल दिया है जिसका मै प्रयोग करने वाला हूं। एक टूल तो उन्होनें मुझे देवनागरी से अरबी लिपि में भी भेजा। जब मैने उसका प्रयोग किया तो मेरी आंखें फटी रह गयी कि देखो अंतर्जाल पर क्या क्या देखने को मिल रहा है।

अगर यह टूल सफल रहता है तो वाकई इस दुनियां में बहुत कुछ बदलने वाला है। मेरे जैसा अंग्रेजी में पैदल आदमी भी जब अपनी पोस्ट अंग्रेजी मैंने  लिखेगा तो फिर जो अंग्रेजी में पढ़ कर लिख रहे है उनसे दो आगे ही रहेगा। अगर किसी को हानि न पहुंचे  तो मैं अपने प्रयोग भी करता हूं। आज यह पोस्ट उसी टूल से अंग्रेजी में कर प्रस्तुत करूंगा। बहुत शोर सुनते थे कि अंग्रेजी वाले हिट हैं। यहां हिंदी में तो हिट हुए नहीं देखते हैं अंग्रेजी में क्या स्थिति बनती है। अभी शायद कुछ लोग इसे मजाक समझेंगे पर आप बताईये हिंदी के ब्लाग लेखक अंग्रेजी में लिखेंगे तब क्या वह अपना कुछ प्रभाव नहीं छोड़ेंगे? हालांकि अंग्रेजी वाले इससे पढ़ सकते है पर उनको भी इसका का क्या पता कि जो शब्द दिख रहे हैं वह  हिंदी है कि अरबी? इसलिये क्यों ने अपनी एकाध पोस्ट अंग्रेजी में अनुवाद कर रख दें। हालांकि मैं हिंदी को लेकर बहुत संवेदलशील हूं और उसमें लिखते रहने के इच्छुक होने के कारण कभी अंग्रेजी का आत्मसात नहीं किया। वरना इतनी तो मुझे आती है कि थोड़ा अभ्यास कर लिखने लगता।

जैसे हमें अंग्रेजी का हिंदी में अनुवाद  अच्छा लगता है वैसे ही अंग्रेजी वालों को भी लगता है। यह मानवीय स्वभाव है कि जिस स्थिति में वह रहता है उससे अलग वातावरण में उसकी जिज्ञासा रहती है। बहरहाल लंबी चौड़ी   बातें तो होतीं रहेंगी फिलहाल की जानकारी पर श्रीअनुनाद सिंह को बधाई।मैंने यह अनुवाद उसी टूल से किया है और ऐसा लगता है कि अगर सावधानी से  हिन्दी लिखी जाये तभी इसका इस्तेमाल सही रूप से किया जा सकता है. कुछ गलतियां इसमें थीं जिस मैंने अपने विवेक से ठीक करने का प्रयास किया है. इसमें मैं अपने हिन्दी में लिखे के लिए जिम्मेदार हूँ बाकी जिम्मा तो टूल का है. बहरहाल यह टूल दिलचस्प है.
