Desde hace años cuando hablamos de empresa se ha estirado el concepto de formación ya que engloba no sólo la formación académica y conocimiento sobre las diferentes materias, sino que además incluye una faceta actitudinal y otra de tipo procedimental (el "know-how").

La parte más tradicional del término. la primera que nos viene a la cabeza cuando pensamos en formación, hace referencia al ámbito conceptual de la formación de las personas: cultura de base, concocimientos técnicos (sobre una determinada materia o rama) generales y conocimientos técnicos específicos. Esto es lo que dentro de un curriculum vitae se suele encasillar bajo la sección de "Formación Académica" y "Formación Complementaria". Creo que la idea hasta aquí está bastante clara...

Dentro del ámbito procedimental se suele distinguir entre el conocimiento de técnicas y herramientas "laborales" y el conocimiento y manejo de técnicas y herramientas específicas de cada función o puesto profesional. Ambos ámbitos en un CV se incluirían dentro de la categoría Experiencia Profesional".

El conocimiento de técnicas y herramientas "laborales" implica dominar el funcionamiento de procedimientos de un puesto y su interelación con otros. No se trata de tanto de tener una visión general de cómo funciona una empresa pero si de entender la interdependencia del trabajo en la empresa.

Por último el término formación también abarca lo que denominamos el ámbito actitudinal. Esta faceta del término guarda relación con aquellos aspectos más relacionados con la actitud de la persona hacia el trabajo y hacia la vida en general. Tiene que ver con las motivaciones, la autodisciplina y el análisis de las conductas propias.

Las empresas cuando contratan a una persona deben fijarse en todas estas facetas para saber si el candidato es adecuado para el perfil del puesto de trabajo concreto de que se trate.

¿Cuál de los tres ámbitos del término formación es el mejor?

Una empresa que empieza quizás debe recurrir más a trabajadores con una actitud positiva, con ganas de aprender y automotivadas. Una empresa en fase de consolidación debe intentar atraer personas con buenos conocimientos y profesionales con cierto prestigio. No sé...

De todos modos, ante la duda yo siempre prefiero contar con personas con una buena actitud ante la mejora contínua -personas que quieren aprender y mejorar- pues soy un verdadero creyente de la frase "hace más quién quiere que quién puede".

Si en un momento dado se necesita talento este siempre se puede comprar, y esa compra implica no sólo la aportación de talento a un proceso sino una fuente de aprendizaje para todas aquellas personas dentro de la empresa dispuestas a aprender. ¿Qué es la web semántica?

Hace un par de semanas mantuve una acalorada conversación con un par de buenos amigos sobre el futuro de las búsquedas en Internet, y en concreto sobre como se deberían ordenar los resultados de las búsquedas para que estas fueran más precisas y tal... Entonces les comenté que el futuro (y el presente ya) pasaba por ordenar y estructurar la web de manera "semántica" (que los contenidos se ordenen por el significado, no por mera coincidencia de "términos" o "palabras clave").

Para entender mejor todo esto recomiendo primero esta lectura: Guía Breve de Web Semántica de w3c.

Cuando hablamos de web semántica, realmente de lo que estamos hablando es de cómo indizar (indexar) los contenidos web que a día de hoy están desestructurados (este problema se acrecienta cada día que pasa debido a la aparición de cada vez más y más contenidos en la web). No hablamos de buscadores, ni de que sí el buscador se va integrar en el escritorio, o si el escritorio será local o online, etc... Estamos hablando de la ordenación de la web por el sentido o el significado semántico de la misma. Es una forma de hacer que las máquinas y los robots ordenen la web de forma semántica. Esto no afecta a los navegadores de manera directa, aunque si al motor de búsqueda (Google, Yahoo, etc...) y a la forma en la que se deben indizar los contenidos web.

La conversación lejos de haberse cerrado ha derivado en un ir y venir de correos y mensajes. Hace unos minutos uno de mis amigos presentes en aquella conversación me ha enviado un sms que me ha despertado de un sueño profundo, jeje... El tema es que me había fijado una nota mental para buscar algún video sencillo que explicara qué es la web semántica, pues el contenido del sms me ha dado la impresión de que aquella noche no fui capaz de transmitir el concepto de web semántica de una forma muy clara (quizás debido a los cuba-libres de ron Santa Teresa y la serenata de eurovisión de fondo...)

Bueno, pues ahora me he acordado gracias al sms (son las 2:40am), he pillado mi portátil y he linkado el siguiente video (explica de una manera muy sencilla como funcionan la web semántica).

Además, recomiendo ver esta presentación de Nova Spivack de hace un par de meses en la Next Web Conference celebrada en Amsterdam hace una par de meses:

En el primer video (el enlace a youtube) se hace referencia a tres enlaces que pueden ayudar a comprender mejor como funciona esto de la web semántica. Recomiendo instalar el plugin Operator en el navegador Firefox para entender un poco como la filosofía de cómo funcionan los buscadores semánticos. Para entender bien para que sirve este plugin, recomiendo leer este artículo en Error500 sobre los microformatos.
