I went to Downtown East yesterday to check out Cosfest VII - the biggest annual cosplay event in Singapore. Cosfest is growing from strength to strength each year, attracting a bigger and bigger crowd (You can compare the photos I took this year to those I took last year in my 2007 blog entry). Kudos to the organisers, Stephanie and Takahan for making all these possible for the last six years. :)

Often she wondered why he didn’t catch a cold, but then again he is indeed the Captain of the tenth division, such things were trivial. She seated herself on his desk, holding a warm cup of tea in her hands. A familiar feeling came across her, something resembling security, as she sensed his reiatsu approach the office. This was the same every time, after every battle, she waited for him to return. In his and Matsumoto’s leave she would be left with all the paperwork, much to her dismay. But she did not mind, as it meant she got to spend her time working in Taichou’s office. More often than not, she found herself falling asleep though.

Footsteps neared the doors and they opened slowly, revealing the white haired prodigy. A smile found its way to the third’s lips and curled upwards to greet him.

“Taichou, welcome back,” she slid off the top of his desk and turned to face him as he sat down in his own chair. The lithe female handed Hitsugaya his tea, their hands touched for a moment before she pulled away. Patiently, she stood next to his desk, as if waiting.

“(Y/N),” he said finally and her face lit up with a grin. Practically jumping into his lap, she hugged him tightly, repressing the urge to shiver at the cold contact.

“Toushirou. . . .Hyourinmaru leaves you cold every time,” (Y/N) mumbled into his shoulder, “How can you stand it?”

“Isn’t that why you’re here every time then?” The female sat up and grasped his hands in hers.

“What if. . . .someday I’m not here to keep you warm?”

“That won’t happen, I’ll make sure of it,” the young captain averted his eyes from her, almost embarrassed. She only giggled, and leaned forward again to place a kiss on his cheeks.

“My, my, it’s especially warm in here today,” Matsumoto remarked from the doorway and the pair jumped apart. Toushirou cleared his throat and sat straight in his seat while the young woman stood a foot away from his chair with her cheeks burning.

“What is it Matsumoto?” the white-haired captain asked, trying not to show his annoyance.

“General Yamamoto wants a report on your recent assignment.” Hitsugaya sighed, but nodded and stood from his seat in compliance.

“Wait for me,” he whispered under his breath as he passed (Y/N). She remained in the same position, and gave a short nod of understanding. Once her two superiors had left, (Y/N) sighed out loud and sat herself in her captain’s chair. Again, she was left with the unbearable task of waiting. (Y/N) wasn’t usually a woman without patience, but she hated the prospect of waiting for Toushirou the most.

Taking a pen from Hitsugaya’s desk, she began doodling on some scrap paper. She drew whatever came to mind and wrote whatever she could think of. An ice cream sundae in the instance she felt hungry, etching little stars around a moon after that randomly. The third seat officer was definitely bored, and made a note to hide the paper before her captain returned, other wise he would be having a good laugh at her expense.

A few more scribbles on the now crowded sheet of paper, and her eyelids began to feel heavy; the aftermath of staying awake filing paperwork plus the heavy silence that filled the 10^th division office. Resting her arms on the oak desk, (Y/N) placed her head down and opted to take a short nap before Toushirou came back.

More than an hour later, Toushirou did return, and alone too. He found the girl in the same position and shook his head in exasperation. She was as troublesome as his vice captain sometimes. Striding over to his desk, he contemplated on whether or not to wake her; after all, he had a lot of paperwork to catch up on from his absence. But upon seeing her content and sleepy expression, he instead lifted her up from the chair and walked over to the couch in the office where he deposited her gently. He decided she deserved some time to rest after attempting – and failing, to help him with his paper work.

Leaning over the back of the couch, Toushirou observed his sleeping companion. It was rare that she slept so peacefully save for in his presence; usually he didn’t see her sleep at all. This was something he often reminded her to do, but she would only comment back that he hardly slept well himself and it would all lead to one big – and quite annoying banter back and forth. His thoughts were interrupted when he heard the female shinigami mutter something in her sleep.

“Shi. . . .ro,” she mumbled, evidently still dreaming. Hitsugaya raised an eyebrow wondering if he had heard wrong. He leaned closer to try to catch the phrase again, but big mistake, because at that moment (Y/N) turned in her sleep and her arm smacked Hitsugaya in the face. The shocked captain felt slightly abused, nursing his throbbing nose. He was lucky he didn’t receive a nose bleed, seeing as the girl was quite strong.

Resuming his position above the oblivious officer, he became more wary of her flying hands. Her right arm was actually sporting some redness from the impact even. A small smile escaped Toushirou’s lips and he noticed hers curl into a smile also. Was she really asleep?

Making sure no one was around, Toushirou proceeded to press his mouth atop hers in experimentation. Instantly, her eyes flew open to a blur of white before the captain pulled back and smirked a little, as if to say ‘Gotcha’.

“That’s not fair,” (Y/N) pouted in defiance and sat up.

“What wasn’t? You were the one pretending to sleep,” Hitsugaya’s smirk widened as he walked around the couch to sit down next to her.

“You’re no fun, Taichou,” the girl huffed, crossing her arms and looked away from the white-haired captain, trying to hide her blush.

“Oi, I’m still cold,” he spoke lowly next to her ear. His hot breath tickled her ear, sending a tingle down her spine and she felt herself flush even further.

“Here you go, Taichou,” she threw him a blanket from the couch, feinting dumb.

“But it’s still not warm enough,” Toushirou remarked, obediently covering himself with the blanket.

Smiling a little, (Y/N) stood up and said, “Oh, then I’ll go fetch you some more hot tea, are you hungry too, Taichou?” But before she could even take one step, his hand caught her wrist and pulled her backwards – onto his lap.

The mischievous girl squeaked as she landed on top of her Taichou, who simply said, “This will do fine.” She shivered at the coldness of his skin, and instinctively turned and wrapped her arms around his torso.

“You’re still freezing.”

Hitsugaya grunted softly in response, holding her warm body closer to himself.

“People say you’re like ice, but this is ridiculous, you know?” Hitsugaya couldn’t help chuckling at that statement, but pulled the blanket around them again, wondering if she could actually catch a cold like this. He’d never hear the end of it if she did.

(Y/N) rested her head in the crook of his neck, saying a quiet ‘Thank you’. Inhaling, she could smell his signature scent; like a crisp winter breeze in the middle of December. Knowing they’d be stuck in this position for a while due to Hitsugaya’s stubbornness, the girl yawned and closed her eyes, drifting off to sleep.

Toushirou sighed when he heard her steady breathing, and picked up a scroll from the table. Paper work would have to wait for now, and he wouldn’t be the only one having to do it later.

Not only does he get killed instantaneously in one of the significantly easier fights by a man-cabbage thing he even loses his girl to one of the Saiyans. Talk about lame. Even Kuririn lucked out and got a hot robot chick as a wife and Tien got some insane personality disorder girl chasing after him. My only reason I did not choose Mr. Satan is because even that guy won Tournament Awards. When Yamcha goes home he sits in a corner and cries. You know why? He really has nothing at all. He doesn't even have the pleasure of feeling good about attempting to save Earth. Seriously, all he has done in this entire series is die or get one-shotted by nearly everyone.

Bleach: Kon

I love Kon so much because he is hilarious. But ultimately, he is just another useless character. His first appearance in the series demonstrated that he was more capable than Ichigo. Not only does he just straight up destroy Hallows with someone else's body he does it without a Zanpaktou. But when compared to Nova, Rin-rin and Cloud (editor's note: three filler characters) Kon has become the weakest modified soul. He's gotten to the point where his only purpose is to create hilarity within Bleach. Other than that, he is nothing more than a plushie in Ichigo's body against most foes. The only benefit he has is being able to snuggle next to high school girl's boobs.

Naruto: Ino

Ino is, by far, the most useless character ever created in the Naruto universe. Her signature Jutsu is to take over the other person's body and control them. Problem is, in close to every fight she has gotten in, not only is her ability useless she leaves her own body open to rape. Seriously, with people as jacked up as some of the characters in the Naruto universe are it shouldn't be surprising. To make things even better, after the three year jump, Ino still remains useless. Even Sakura, who has proven to be useless and without a signature Jutsu, is able to fight and hold her own.

Yu Yu Hakusho: Kuwabara

Kuwabara is a human being who has great sensitivity to Spirit Energy. One of his main... actually his only ability is to be able to create a sword with his Spirit Energy and mend it to any shape he wants. Ultimately, however, it's a useless ability and the majority of his fights involve him waving this thing around and not actually causing serious harm except for the two or three times it actually did anything at all. In a real fight that mattered Kuwabara is pushed aside and laughed at. At least Yamcha had the pleasure of being one shotted. Kuwabara? No. He gets messed up. And when I say messed up I mean I'm surprised he hasn't suffered brain damage from some of the blows hes received. Kuwabara is so useless he becomes the joke of the crew and laughed at by just about everyone in the entire series. On the plus side, however, he serves important roles in the storyline. At least I can give him that.

One Piece: Usopp

I couldn't do a list like this without mentioning Usopp. Having watched a decent portion of One Piece and reading a good chunk of the Manga the only thing I can say is Usopp is just plain useless. Not only his he a liar his best suited ability is sharpshooting. Here's the thing, though: he uses a slingshot! For christ sake, it's not even all that great. The best he can do is make his shots do the equivalent of stubbing your toe against the door. Sure, he has pepper shots or things that can probably jack you up a little bit, but essentially, if put in a fight against someone who can suck it up a little bit Usopp would get wrecked. At least use a gun. I mean c'mon, your father used a gun because for one thing, it can puncture skin if you don't have skin of metal. A slingshot? Seriously, a slingshot wound is like a paper cut. You feel it, you may bitch about it for a second or two, but you get over it.
