It's Wednesday, and so far this week, I've worked a grand total of 35 hours. Over three days. No wonder I'm tired. I had a lightbulb moment this week. End of financial year. Job in finance. Did not compute until Monday morning. Gah. I'm a real bright spark, no?

One more day. Then I'm taking my time back on Friday. Mainly to sleep. Might even go to the gym, depending on how game I'm feeling.

Speaking of the gym, I had my regular PT session tonight, and 15 seconds in, I felt like saying "Lady, I'm really not in the fucking mood for this," but I stuck it out, and 30 minutes later, I was jelly-leggin' it back to the car.

So, to sum up: Excessive working hours + hardcore gym session = deaded Kelly.

I wish I hadn't waited to be in big troubles to allow me some holidays. Even if you don't have money, there's always a way. It's no good to wait forever to be in better financial situation, because such a day could as well never come. What I've learned is whatever you want to do, find a way to do it now, because life is to short for regrets. You can always find good reasons not to do what you would like to do, but it won't comfort you when you'll be looking back, asking to yourself "what have I done with my life?" and finding the answer is "nothing". There are so much horrible things in this world, so many things to worry about, that all we can do is to live our lives as best as we can and try to make ourselves and the ones we love happy and respect other people as well as the planet we live on. And being happy is not dreaming of all we could possibly do in the future, but trying all we can to be happy here and now.

I'm way too cocky to be a good student. Here's the latest assignment:

Q: What’s wrong with traditional paper/pencil assessments of reading skills? Is there any place for traditional reading skills assessment in the middle/secondary school?

A: As easy as it would be to answer the question for my own specific subject (music), I feel that because the question was not specifically directed to my field I should answer to the best of my ability and opinion for all relevant education matters. Truthfully, after acknowledging that YES I think there is something WRONG with traditional paper/pencil assessments of reading skills, I think there is something wrong with this entire suggested method of knowledge acquisition in the first place, but I will do my best to answer the question.
Traditional paper and pencil assessments are dangerous and inaccurate because (1) they lead the administrator into methods which are dictated by pre-established and most likely inaccurate assessment criteria, (2) they do not invite re-evaluation of the assessment process especially in terms of special need students or special circumstances and (3) because they do not necessarily appropriate actual knowledge. They appropriate reproduction of knowledge, which is something entirely different; the highest level of comprehension is the ability to pass on the information to another party (teach it to someone else) and being able to regurgitate the information for a standardized test is hardly representative of that. It represents the ability to subscribe to and survive in what we have already established as our pre-fabricated education system which is a extremely apt preliminary experience for life in our pre-fabricated society, so in that sense paper and pencil assessment is just fine. But if you're trying to encourage, test and demonstrate knowledge, then you are sorely mistaken. The only knowledge you're demonstrating is the knowledge of the system and how to abide by it or manipulate it.

I think I've already answered the second question but just in case I'll recap: traditional reading skills assessment has a place in school - to teach and exemplify what life will be like in the real world. But it is more directly related to the "system" that it is to the actual knowledge : it teaches students how to function in our society and (indirectly) how to apply their knowledge of the subject and their ability to communicate in order to prove competence and worth.

There are really things which can't be forever kept vague.. and no matter how hard one would try to make it indefinite, destiny and fate will connive so to make things clearer, in short, to vindicate me.. ahaha..ay ambot! basta! as of this very moment, I can't believe that I can analyze this way.. and that I never thought my analysis would turn out somehow accurate.. as far as the facts that have been laid by some reliable sources and several intensive (ahaha..intensive mn jud!!LOL!) researches made (by me of course!! pinaghirapan ba nmn!! what d!) are concerned, I therefore partly conclude, (partly lng sa, i'm not that judgemental baya..hihi), that I am definitely correct and I will continue to do things as such, not only to vindicate myself but to enhance my investigation and analytic skills..!! ahahahaha!! anyway, I wouldn't be using this in any form of "malicious act", nalingaw lng ko realizing, I can be a sort of forensic expert, I mean I have the potential.. well, though I am not tracing finger prints here, nor doing microscopic tests on genes and hair (forensic thingy..), I can try coz I definitely believe that the hypothesis I have proposed were somehow coherent with reality.. toink! basta!!

Lame, but somewhat exciting.

I refused to do it because I knew I'd realise just how convenient it would be to go to my favourite take-out joint, drive up, and have the junky goodness handed to me, with no effort. Now that I've done it, I know I was right! It's going to be oh-so-tempting to grab something while I'm out, then park the car and stuff myself silly. That's a warning sign of someone who's ashamed of themselves where food is concerned - buying it, and eating it in the car so you can dispose of the packaging and you won't get caught! I had a not so shining moment several months ago where I bought a tube of Pringles, and shoved handfuls down my throat at each red light as I was driving around.

I've been to the gym 3 days in a row this week, and tomorrow will be 4, since I have my PT session. I am really trying to get my act together where my health is concerned, and I've lost weight before, but for some reason I'm finding it extra difficult this time. I just can't seem to find the motivation, which is shocking for someone who's 21st birthday is 6 months away, and a wedding 9 months after that! I'm just so disgusted with myself and my body, I want to comfort myself with my bad habit - comfort eating. It's something I'm trying to break, and I know it will take time.

Let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope that I never succumb to the drive-thru urge again, okay?
