According to Drudge Report, controversial radio personality Rush Limbaugh has bagged a $400 million deal to stay on the radio for 8 more years. Some will smile at this news and some will cry.

I’m thinking Nancy Pelosi will not be happy at this latest blurb, as her “Fairness Doctrine” has been labeled the “Hush Rush” bill.

While, Limbaugh says racial things I don’t agree, this is America and Free Speech is apart of the law of the land. And thus, no one should be trying to shut anyone up.

Rush Limbaugh, 57, and his 31-year-old girlfriend, Kathryn Rogers. Limbaugh is three times divorced.

Rush Limbaugh’s “Operation Chaos” has been credited with sowing disunity in the Democratic Party, when he urged Republicans to vote for Hillary Clinton in the primaries to drag out the race.

While his effect is being debated, it is worth noting that tens of thousands of Republicans temporarily switched parties to vote for Hillary Clinton in the primaries once John McCain was the established nominee.

Hillary did her part as well with an own goal that plagued the Democratic Party with confusion and division for several crucial months.

I wrote this piece before completing the whole slide show, in response.  Just seeing that first picture evoked strong memories of the first time I saw it as a little boy in the pages of the Life, Time and Ebony magazines we had at home...

I thank my father for exposing me to the real world through books and subscriptions to news magazines when I was younger.  :cool:

When I was in Upper 6th Form and due to leave my Trinidadian secondary school, a teacher organised a SAT/Scholarship session with some recruiters from the University of Steubenville, and some other US college. The teacher was caucasian, or as we like to say here in Trinbago, "Trini White".

Before our guests came in, he pointed out to us, that in many ways, the US of A was more racist than South Africa (this was in the early 1990's, a few months before they released Nelson Mandela from prison), and actively encouraged the "students of colour" to hype that fact up in US college applications, as we would have an advantage because of the affirmative action programs that the US colleges had to deploy.

I remember hearing one of my white classmates sitting behind me utter a soft "steups." :wink:

I got a chance to visit a fairly rural part of a deep southern US State for the first time on a 3 month company sponsored training trip in the late 90's. While there, I sometimes used to think that I was the only black man for miles around.  It was the kind of place where, when you saw another black person, you gave them that knowing "How you doin'?" nod, and even stopped to chat for a few.  Most times, the black folk I encountered were the "help" in the place I was in/visiting/working. I met up with two Trinidadian families that way... but that's another story.

Anyway, being the "good" Church boy that I am, I wanted to go to a Catholic Church close to my hotel. I found it strange that all the hotel clerks were directing me to a Hispanic church which was about 10 minutes away by car (and therefore, more taxi fare) instead of one that I could just walk to in under 20 minutes. As I wanted to explore my surroundings and stretch my legs a bit, I went to the closer Church regardless.

No problems for me... I sat in the back and spied a black family at church!  My heart leapt for joy and I made a mental note to speak to them afterwards. Because I was a first time visitor to the church, the mainly white congregation welcomed me with open arms.  I mean, I saw these middle-aged & older white men and women come up to me and hug, kiss and embrace me like a prodigal, when I could swear a few days ago, more than half of those same folks crossed the street when they saw me coming towards them!

Anyway, after the service, one of the daughters from the black family came over to chat with me. Her folks were Jamaican, and one of the first things she asked me was "How come you didn't go to the Spanish church?"

"I don't speak that much Spanish, so it would've been difficult for me to understand. Plus this church was only about 20 minutes walking from my hotel."

"You walked?!"
"Yeah... something's wrong with walking?"
"Where's your hotel?"
"The Radisson on such and such street."
"Oooh... that's a nice hotel... they have nice food there..."

Moms walks over to chat, with her other daughter in tow. Pops is talking to a man on the side. Moms hits me with the Jamaican slang as soon as she realises I'm Trinbagonian... "Wham now, rude bwoy?" I laugh and smile... tell her its good to see fellow West Indians up in the place.

"How come you didn't go to the Spanish church?"

I give the same reply, and begin to wonder "what's so wrong with this church" that makes people want to recommend "la vida loca" on sight of me. Pops comes over and we chit chat, they have to leave, but promise to look me up at the hotel now that they know that I'm there.

"We West Indians have to look out for one another!", Mom says and smiles as she gets into their sedan. She
works at some law firm or the other.  Pops is a police man or an Army soldier or something.

As they pull off, I turn around to start my walk back.  I almost bounce into this middle-aged white man.  Pepper gray/blonde hair.  Ice blue eyes.  Affable looking, he apologised, and asked if I wanted a ride back to my hotel, as he'd overheard I was staying at the Radisson.  I accepted his offer.

"What's your name?"
"My name is Jude."
"Ah... like the song, or were you named after the saint?"
"Both, actually.  I'm sorry... but I didn't catch your name?"
"That's cuz I didn't throw it. My name is Jim.  Jim Crow."

In shock, I look up at the man, to see if he's serious. He's not laughing.

I look at his wife and his little daughter. They're not laughing either.

I'm wondering whether I should laugh or if I should run... but my instincts told me to take him at his word... play it cool, and use my keys as a weapon... just in case.

"Your parents must've had a unique sense of humour, Jim."
Jim grins.  His wife laughs. "That's what I always tell him!"

We get into the car, and we pull off. Jim talks about the teasing he endured growing up because of his name... and that he always gets that same reaction from black people when he introduces himself to them.

For the duration of the 5 minute ride (which seemed like forever), I get told about how articulate I am, how intelligent I seem, and how handsome I am (when Jim's wife said this, I saw his eyes flick up to the rear-view and hold me in a glance for a few seconds.  I met his gaze while I thanked her for the compliment and nodded back to Jim. He put his eyes back on the road.)

As I'm getting out of the car at the hotel, they tell me about the Spanish church 20 minutes driving from here, and wonder aloud why I didn't go there. I give them the same reply, plus the fact that I didn't have a car to use while I was there.

Jim: "Oh... with a country name like Trinidad, you would think that you'd speak some Spanish!"

"Yeah, you would!  But I have basic Spanish skills."

Jim's Wife: "So, see you next week?  We can come pick you up, if you want..."  Jim looks a bit uncomfortable but smiles.

"Maybe, but I think I'll walk! This is a nice neighbourhood. Thanks for the ride. Take care, Jim!"

I stand outside with the doorman watching their little girl wave to me from the back seat as they drive away.

"Crazy, man...this is just crazy."
"Por que?", says Jose, the door man from Mexico.
"That man just told me his name was Jim Crow!"
"So what ees so wrong weet dat name?"

I sigh and walk away. I pat Jose on the shoulder as I make my way inside.

"Its a black thing, Jose... I don't think you'd understand."

For the duration of my stay, I didn't go back to Church.

I never saw the Jamaicans or the Crows again.

I do regret not going to the Hispanic Church though! I'm sure that would've been something!

When I look at the image of the man getting rammed by the American flag, it brings to mind the challenges the Obamas must undoubtedly have to face during their long election campaign.

Colin Powell said that he didn't run for US President because his wife expressed fear for his life. Had he done so, I wonder what sort of campaign the Democrats would have mounted against him?  I'd like to think that it certainly wouldn't be anything as bad as what Fox and the Republicans (and Billary, Jeremiah Wright and Jesse Jackson) have tried to do to Barack and Michelle Obama.

Let's think about it for a second.

Colin Powell is the man that handed out cans of whoop ass to Saddam in Operation Desert Storm.  He wasn't just a soldier, he was a GENERAL, and the history making Chairman of the freakin' Joint Chiefs of Staff.   Brother man was also the first African-American Secretary of State.  To wit, all of this was achieved under conservative leaning REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTS (George Bush I and II).

Yet, people STILL wrote hate mail when he merely contemplated running for President on a Republican ticket...

One thing's for certain...

If Jesse Jackson was really serious about cutting Obama's nuts off, he has to get a HUUUGE knife.

Balls that size don't come along everyday.

Hillary Clinton has once again shown why she didn't deserve to get the Democratic nomination, as it was revealed today that they have a list of enemies, comprised of the names of individuals that cost them the election (*yawn*).

And do pray tell, what might the names on this list be subjected to out of revenge. Is this the Clinton Body count list part two or something. Really, Hillary, how old are you to be having an enemies list (*yawn again*).

You better be careful with acts of revenge, as it has a funny way of coming back around to the ones that initiate it. As the Bible says, "Such people dig a deep hole, then fall in it themselves. The trouble they cause comes back on them..." Psalm 7:15.

And people wondered why it took the 60-year-old brat so long to concede. She was too busy planning her list.

What you need to be working on is your creditors list, because your campaign ended $20 million dollars in debt, as it selfishly wiped out $40 million of Obama's money as well.

As you can see, at the very least, the Obama Administration will be a lot "smoother" then the Bush Administration...

Come to think of it, anyone else's would be more affective.

How can he get rid of the lady, and of her big-mouthed, inconvenient, gaffe-prone, press-hated, reputation-tearing, ladies' favorite anger-bag of a husband?

For were Obama to accept Ms Rodham as his VP candidate, he would appear weak, unable to stand on his own, way too ready to compromise with somebody that after all he has been unable to shrug off. If instead, all the purring from the Clinton campaign about her readiness to have a shot as VP were ignored or rebuffed, then Obama would appear weak, cast adrift among college-educated Americans with not a single Latino or poor White in sight.

(Perhaps up to 27% of Democrats do not want to vote for Obama...isnt' there a saying about the mother of the idiots being always pregnant?)

All this campaigning by Hillary and Bill Clinton has then turned the couple into a "poison pill", the best thing that happened to McCain since Giuliani started excelling at foot-shooting practice. As things stand now, Hillary Clinton is indispensible, and the Democratic Party cannot go anywhere she doesn't like it to go.

But in her latest moment of glory, there are also all the reasons to make her irrelevant.

It is good practice in people management to identify the resources that one "cannot do without"...in order to get rid of them.

Anybody able to maneuver themselves into an "indispensable" position is in fact too loose a center of power, a practical nuisance for everybody around, a threat for the cohesion of the group and an inordinate risk were the person to move to a different job or disappear from view for any reason (eg due yet another sex scandal involving Mr C).

And one should not disregard the possibility of a leadership challenge at every single minute that passes

(I am sure Hillary Clinton is dreaming of the Party delegates begging her in Denver this coming August,to become the Presidential Candidate by acclamation. Can't anybody find a picture of Obama with a prostitute, a lover, a wad of dirty cash, cocaine on his nose? Shaking hands with OJ Simpson? Praying at a mosque? Having dinner with Iran's Ahmadinejad? Anything would do...)

That's why if anybody is indispensable, they must be dispensed with asap, instead of letting things hang by a thread, with a possible major unmanageable crisis looming every day in an atmosphere of mutual distrust and weak leadership,

(How to get rid of somebody that one cannot ged rid of? By definition, it may look impossible. But that's really never the case: US society would not collapse were Hillary Clinton to become a hermit tomorrow. If one is "indispensable", dispensing of them will be painful, but a group exercise, that will inspire the best effort of the rest of the team)

Obama can free himself from Billary by choosing one of three options: (a) going hard, immediately nominating somebody else as VP candidate; (b) going safe, doing nothing in the hope few will care about an also-ran with no hope to be anybody; (c) going soft, openly leaving all possibilities open, just in case, with no actual intention of choosing Hillary for the Vice-Presidency.

The choice is a matter of long-term political strategy. It can be argued that (a) is a sign of weakness, but the sooner the tooth is pulled out, the sooner the pain will go (and the more time there will be for campaigning against McCain). Option (b) needs plenty of nerve and plenty of friends in the media. Option (c) is an absolute gamble, and only the strongest and most determined candidate should think about it.

Options b and c assume that the Clintons will make a nuisance of themselves, with Bill growling too much, and Hillary squeaking too often, so that among the general nausea only their staunchest supporters will remain loyal. And so on and so forth.

(Personally I would choose option b but only after preparing a massive media campaign, in order to bury any Clinton news item by sheer force of numbers)

Obviously, the above presumes Obama can show enough toughness (and callousness) so as to be his own antidote against Poison Billary. That's something still open to question, a fact that in itself may be a symptom of the same inability to find that single final political punch that could have stopped all this Democrat squabbling long time ago.

Barack Obama can still choose Hillary Clinton as VP Candidate. But if that happens, nobody should kid themselves by talking of an "Obama Presidency".

At the White House, the one with the trousers wouldn't be the current junior Senator from Illinois.

I saw this picture the other day and I thought it is very interesting however I wasn't sure if I should post it, so after sleeping on it I thought heck I am going to post it and I'm going to take the opportunity to discuss the upcoming elections as well.Many say Hilary is actually Bilary and that she is going to be only a doll and her policies are going to be Bills. Some say Hilary and Obama are going to keep fighting to the point McCain is going to win. Personally I am as many of us Canadians for peace and only peace. And I strongly believe that the only candidate that could actually bring back World peace and harmony is Obama. However are they(non elected individuals that run the country) going to let Obama win, are the American people smart enough to put racial conflicts aside and do what's right for their country as a whole and for the world?

This primary season has demonstrated how the modern media is fueled by corporate interest. They have "cherry picked" issues they know will provide the most boom for their bottom line at the time.

In other words, you get "news" that is less about informing you of what's going on, but more about what will be the news piece that will get you to watch that day; that gets them higher  for that period; which allows the news company to charge advertisers more; which causes their revenue to increase; which makes their shareholders happy; which raises the parent companies stock price; which allows the board of directors of the parent company to make more money with large salaries in the tens of millions.

I now rely on the tag surfer to get a synopsis of my news so that I may form my own opinion of what's relevant and what's not. Though some of you are paid by either the Obama/Clinton/MCain/News Corp people to pose as general public bloggers, I'm still able to dissiminate the news with my own will.

In 1996, Black voters had the opportunity to vote for an articulate, intelligent black man who was running for President (Republican Candidate Alan Keys).

Did they cross over to the Republican side to support Keys? He was black then as he is now. NO. They listened to his campaign rhetoric and decided he was not a candidate that supported their concerns. This dispels the notion that "BLACKS VOTE FOR BLACKS" automatically because, well, the candidate is black!

The second group is sort of a surprise. Maybe it's more of the "we should go first" mentality (chivalry is not thought of when a man thinks about Hillary Clinton, sorry). This group has certainly shown it's racist Willie Horton side by uttering the "I'll leave the party and vote for McCain (the serial sexist) because Obama, gulp, "is terribly sexist" (see Geraldine "Fiero") crap. This whole position makes no sense and should be terribly embarrassing to any woman uttering it who claims to be a feminist. I mean you do know McCain called his wife a "cunt". In public. Dude is "seriously terribly sexist". Oh, I get it. Your doing your vaunted "Jedi Mind Trick" impersonation. Say one thing you know will not be challenged (because you always resort to the "men are sexist" card ad nauseam when things don't go your way) but really mean another (I ain't votin' for no black guy) and convince others (women and gay men) that this is the right position to take. Get the hell outta here, pun intended.

The last group just sorta blows me away. I mean why am I even seeing headline articles talking about " Florida Jews unsure of Obama because of Isreal". Who gives a sh_t. look, I admire how zealous Jews are about their culture. But when it starts using MY COUNTRY as it's tool in it's zealous approach towards defending it's culture, to the tune where American Soldiers loose their lives because of the agenda of the Jewish controlled "neo conservative" movement that put Dupya in office; well I gotta draw the line! You screwed up the last two elections. Thank God your idiot Democrat leadership in Florida blundered in moving up your primaries to the dismay of Howard Dean! Your outta the equation.

Isreal has nothing to do with $4 gas, the rising cost of food and people loosing their jobs here in the U.S.. I DON'T CARE ABOUT ISREAL! I care about being able to buy my daughter a pair of frickin shoes and putting food on my diner table! (Or does it? Hmmmmmm)

As a black guy, I don't have a lot of images of like figures in the public that do me good and dilutes the negative stereotypes that so many others in my breathen constantly fuel (Thanks for nothing 50 Cent/Adam "Pac Man" Jones/and just about every southern rapper). Obama does just that! Thats just one of the reasons I support the man. Did I vote for Alan Keyes when he was running for President? Hell no I didn't. I voted for a white guy. There.

U.S. Jews, on the other hand, has Joe Lieberman leading their charge and looking like a fool. Come to think of it, I don't feel so bad. We've got 50 Cent, you've got Joe Lieberman. Geesh. Just think, that guy could have been the Vice President of the United States. What was Al Gore thinking?

During World War two, in France, the local mafia had a good scam going on: part of it joined the government of Vichy and collaborated with the Germans while the other part joined the Underground, the French resistance. At the liberation, the “collaborators” were caught and tried….but bailed out by the Free French Forces mobsters of the underground who testified that the one in the German side were actually working underground and provided a lot of good intelligence against the Germans. By keeping a foot on both camps, the mafia came up as a winner and that was a smart move. The Germans would have won, the process would have been inverted with the same results.

It is like playing roulette and gambling on red and white, even and uneven, or betting on the only horse left in the race….you cannot lose!

Why do I mention this historical sideline to you today? Well, presidential elections are on the way and the candidates are all telling you guys how things are going to change, telling us that the other are corrupted and bought out by corporate money, and that they are going to change the way D.C does business.

The three top candidates are voicing different point of views, representing different parties, claiming radical ideological and ethical differences…while “eating from the same eatery!” For one of them, it does not really matter anymore because she is about to be kicked out back to the senate where she has been supposed to represent her electorate from New York (disenfranchised voters through lack of representation?)…but still, it is interesting to look at the pattern in the “contributions” they got, at their top donors.

First, as mature and reasonable adults, I believe that we can all agree that there is not such a thing as a “free” donation or campaign contribution, a free innocent vote. Whenever we vote, or donate as individuals or as corporations, we are always expecting something in return, an agenda we support because we are somehow going to benefit from (Universal or private health care, less or more taxes, more or less food stamps, higher or lower minimum wages, Internet for all, foreclosure bail-out plan, reparations, open or closed borders, tax rebates….). Stating otherwise would be hypocritical because we also know that part of being a politician it to have deep pockets tailored in the suits!

So here it goes. I did some little research to see who have shoved their hands up the behind of the 2008 presidential candidates and make them move and talk.

Are you sitting? Brace yourselves!

Among the 20 top donors for each candidate, we find five that are contributing to all of them. Again, as mature and reasonable adult, we can agree that neither political ideology nor political agenda and candidate’s personality can motivate such a strange move that remind us of the little WW2 story I told you as an introduction.

Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan Chase & co and Lehman Brothers are these opportunistic “contributors”. Now you understand why the US of A is a country by the lawyers and for the lawyers!

Four other contributors are also donating across the aisle but mostly to the “old Washingtonians”, Mac Cain and Billary. Again, as mature and reasonable adult, we can agree that neither political ideology nor political agenda and candidate’s personality are behind that opportunistic behavior.

Merril Lynch, PricewaterhouseCoopers, UBS AG and Greenberg Traurig are the culprits betting on both parties.

www.opensecrets.org is a good place to start looking at who is behind the scene….if you care at all, of course!

A simple search on presidential campaign contributions would also bring mostly the same things….the results only vary because of the twisted and circonvoluted way campaign financing is regulate…PACs, coded vs non coded…everything to ensure that WE THE PEOPLE are totally screwed by the shrews!

• “You know, the French remind me a little bit of an aging actress of the 1940s who is still trying to dine out on her looks but doesn’t have the face for it.”

In the age of the internet, you can't hide your true colors. I'd like for any of you to identify/name a sexist moment that demonstrates that Obama is a sexist.

THE REAL REASON YOU DON'T WANT TO VOTE FOR OBAMA IS BECAUSE HE'S BLACK! Period!

The studious student of symbolism and synchronicity can’t help but see the startling similarities between the sinking of Senator Hillary Clinton’s ship and the souring situation in Iraq. In fact if you listen close enough it seems to be screaming at you. In both campaigns the intended target; the soul and spirit of the American people has slowly been sapped by systematic shortcomings.

Whether its Hillary’s silly claims of sniper fire or US Sergeants swearing the surge has secured unstable security situations in Iraq, the shenanigans of half-truths is costing them the ultimate price: the sentiments of their American constituents. Hillary, the embodiment of the spirit of Iraq doesn’t know when to pull the plug for the sake of her party. The architects of the US occupation of Iraq have similar issues. For the sake of saving face they remain on the losing end of a conflict that threatens to dissolve into sectarian unrest and civil war. If Clinton continues with her scathing, salacious attacks on Obama she threatens to cause a divide in her party, resulting in civil unrest at the DNC. Like Iraq she has to rely on resorting to tactics reserved for Republicans who would rather face her in November than squabble with Obama in the November showdown.

Barack, resembling the messianic force embodied by Muqtada Al Sadr (who are both Leo’s separated by 8 days) seems to be impervious to their attacks and by exercising the art of restraint (keeping his eye on the prize) his ultimate revenge is always VICTORY irregardless of timeless timetables! Just as Sadr will ultimately capture the reigns in the General Election (the “people’s choice”), Obama will survive the onslaught and capture the reigns of power, presumably around the Dog Days of Summer (Sirius Rising) wrestling the nomination from Hillary, then in November smashing McCain at his own game through strategized electoral warfare!

That is, as long as Bush doesn’t preemptively strike Iran and touch off a nuclear holocaust, circumventing his replacement and enacting the executive powers he already has in place to secure his seat of power.

Most telling though is the striking similarities that lie underneath the hood. Hillary strikes a striking similarity to the Scorpio, her zodiac and the Serpent, its symbol. The slithering snake had to be forcefully removed from the Garden for its treacherous seduction of God’s selected servant. The snake tried to tear down God’s perfect design and ended up being cursed to crawl on its belly for eternity. It will be funny to see the Democratic hierarchy put this snake out to pasture for trying to cause sedition.

Slithering, slimy, the serpent cannot be trusted for she bites at the ankle of her foe. Like a Scorpio, she lies in wait for the kill, struggling to remain sneaky until she can get in perfect striking distance then level the Lion with the kitchen sink. Tenacious like a Scorpio, sneaky as a serpent she is the true embodiment of the US policy in Iraq. By arrogance alone, on the strength of her mighty dynasty she swore she could beat the underdog but in the end got outsmarted just like...you guessed it, the United States in Iraq!

In case you forgot Billary, these are just some of the states that were won by Obama. The margin of victories had nothing to do with UNIMPORTANT, high numbers of "judas black activist voters" casting their votes for Obama just because he is black. OBVIOUSLY, LARGE NUMBERS OF WHITE WORKING CLASS VOTERS VOTED IN FAVOR OF OBAMA IN THESE STATES!

Next thing you know, we'll see you in a campaign ad flying through the mountains of West Virgina in cape and tights; and a WWC (White working class) logo on your chest saying...................
