Desde el debut de Beckham en EU, por cierto ante los gloriosos TIGRES de la UANL en la Liga Mundial de Soccer del año pasado, el futbolista ha aparecido en practicamente todos los medios de publicidad que nuestro vecino país tiene.

En el capitulo de hoy, cortesía de uno de nuestros paparazzis favoritos, veremos a Victoria celando al Beckham debido a que fue cachado con un ojo al gato y otro al garabato... No podemos culparlo estaban en un partido de basketball, que tanto le puede emocionar un deporte donde todos pueden tomar el balón con las manos.

I understand why soccer isn't as dominant in the US as it is for the rest of the world. If you're a kid growing up in the States, and you're gifted with speed, size, and agility, you'll quickly learn that the prize in one hand comes from a basketball, baseball, or football in the other.

Moreover, though more and more kids grow up playing soccer, they don't see enough of it on tv. Not too many heroes are going to be made from a game that doesn't have space for commercials.

The World Cup legitimately grabs our attention, BUT it comes around as frequently as the Olympics. Surprisingly, one can catch Manchester United (the best!), Chelsea, Arsenal, and maybe even Liverpool matches on US tv, BUT you're probably already a fan if you're taking the trouble to find them. And the MLS... you can say whatever you want, but even the BUT that is Beckham won't be able to popularize the sport.

Then again, who knows? I remember a commercial from a few years ago where the punchline was that no one recognized Beckham... The problem was, when the commercial ran in the States, hardly anyone got the joke - people honestly didn't recognize the guy in the ad. But today, Beckham is a household name, face, and even voice...

I guess I can just wait and hope. But until the DC United v. LA Galaxy match is on NBC opposite the Redskins Cowboys game, I'll just have to watch my soccer on channel 849... at 2:30 in the afternoon... on a Wednesday... broadcast in Spanish.

It looks as though the insanity surrounding David Beckham's move to the states is losing steam.

Last year, packed stands and after parties followed his every move as the Los Angeles Galaxy toured the states -- and he was injured most of the time.

When the Galaxy played in Washington this season, attendance for the game was down by over 10,000 -- and last year's game was played on a week night, in the rain and Beck's injuries made an appearance on the pitch iffy. Not to mention the not one, not two, but three invitation only parties in D.C. after the game, according to the NY Times.

At least Victoria's jean line is doing well ...

The Kiwi bird, of the order Apterygiformes-Ratitae, occurs only in New Zealand. Although primarily a bird of New Zealand’s native forests, kiwis also live in scrub and native grasslands. Because the kiwi is a semi-nocturnal, secretive bird, few New Zealanders have seen their national bird in the wild.

The kiwi is the sole survivor of an ancient order of birds including the now extinct moas. A flightless bird about the size of a domestic fowl, the kiwi has coarse, bristly, hair-like feathers. Females are larger than males.

Kiwis grow to about the size of a chicken and weigh between three and nine pounds. They have no tail and tiny two inch wings which for all practical purposes, are useless. Despite its awkward appearance, a kiwi can actually outrun a human and have managed to survive because of their alertness and their sharp, three-toed feet, which enable them to kick and slash an enemy.

Ontem à noite, na minha aula de Marketing Esportivo, na ESPM, um colega nosso levou pra vermos a chuteira Adidas Predator Pulse Limited Edition do Beckham =D. Aham! Ao todo foram feitas e distribuídas 723 no mundo inteiro, número esse relacionado ao seu número na seleção inglesa 7, e no Real 23. E os pares foram feitos milimetricamente de acordo com o pé dele, tamanho 42. A princípio, o preço seria 3x de R$723,00, mas meu colega disse que adquiriu num leilão na internet, então, o valor foi maior.

Tenía guardada esta entrevista que le hicieron en el diario argentino Perfil al mítico Tom Wolfe, periodista y escritor, impulsor del llamado Nuevo Periodismo. En ella aborda con valentía la crisis de la prensa:

—¿Cómo ve la situación actual del periodismo? ¿Le parece que también puede quedar en un lugar de aislamiento?

—Honestamente, no creo que el periodismo muera. A menos que por morir queramos decir que desaparezca la hoja impresa, lo cual podría ser. (...) El verdadero problema es cómo generar las noticias. (...) En los periódicos se empieza como investigador, una criatura solitaria que ni siquiera se denomina cronista. Una vez que a alguien lo ascienden, su ambición es no tener que salir jamás del edificio donde se encuentra la redacción. Los llamamos “personas-ancla”: reemplazan a una maquinaria que convertía las palabras escritas por un periodista en palabra impresa, en una tipología que el público masivo pudiera leer.

También analiza el fenómeno de los blogs, a los que considera como la plasmación física de la rumorología (vamos que no parece muy favorable), sin llegar a considerarlos una especie de periodismo de segunda categoría como hacen otros autores:

Y, aprovechando esa acidez de Tom Wolfe, aquí os dejo algunas de mis visitas de este domingo, por si os interesan. 1) Elvira Lindo descarga en El País contra esta sociedad "de las pantallas" que idiotiza a los niños hasta que el punto de que el Ayuntamiento de Nueva York haya tenido que lanzar una campaña para que éstos vuelven a jugar, al menos una hora al día, en la calle, al aire libre. 2) La prensa sigue cambiando. Si ya era posible autoeditar un libro, ahora también se puede hacer con una revista (vía Pixel y Dixel). 3) De este mismo blog recupero un post sobre el nuevo videoclip de Weezer en el que hacen un homenaje a los principales personajes que se han hecho famosos a través de Internet, de click en click. 4) Y finalizo con una maldad: resulta que Victoria Beckham (tranquilos, ahora veréis como tiene sentido sacarla en este blog), decía, Victoria está preparando una línea de moda junto a su marido. El problema, al menos eso me parece a mi, es que el logotipo que han elegido me recuerda a uno que se hizo famoso en España hace algunos años. ¿Curioso, no?

Hello and welcome to another episode of “The Daily Dose Of Information”. Today’s episode is another one on sports and it is episode 5.I just had to do another sports one. I am sorry guys but I have to get in on all the exciting football transfers and rumours that have been going on for quite some time and will be going on until the transfer windows closes on August 31st, 2008.

I hope you all have been keeping abreast with all the latest in Cycling and Cricket as some exciting things are happening there too. I promise you that the next episode will not be on sports.

Without further ado, I bring to you the next episode of "The Daily Dose Of Information".

News Just In:

To start off there is some breaking news that just came in last night. Do you people remember Samir Nasri? Well sometime back, according to his website he had completed a five-year deal at Arsenal. A day or so later, Arsenal denied it and said they were only in negotiations. Well now I am pleased to tell you that the deal has finally gone through! Since I am an Arsenal fan, I am very happy with this news as I think he is a great player from all the videos I have seen from his days in Marseille.

Arsenal's new signing Samir Nasri feels he has all the qualities to fit right in with club's culture of 'amazing football'.

The Gunners finally completed what has been a protracted pursuit of the attack-minded midfielder from Marseille on what they describe as a 'long-term contract' for an undisclosed fee on Friday. The move could now pave the way for unsettled Belarus winger Alexander Hleb to join Barcelona. Nasri, 21-year-old, certainly has great potential having featured for France at Euro 2008 and helped Marseille claim third place in Ligue 1 last season to qualify for the Champions League

News that came in right after the Nasri news is about Peter Crouch and Rafa Benitez. Pompey have just paid £11 Mmillion. It is a good move for Crouch as he was not getting much first team football at Liverpool. This is his sceond time at the club having first played in the 2001/02 season.

'This club is going places and they can match my ambitions,' the 6'7" striker said following his third reunion with manager Harry Redknapp.

'It's fantastic to be back,' Crouch added. 'I believe Harry gets the best out of me and think the best years of my career can be here.' 'The chance of regular first team football was part of the appeal. I know I'll have to work hard to prove myself in training, but I believe my best years are in front of me.' Redknapp said: 'When I first mentioned Peter to (Portsmouth chief executive) Peter Storrie last year, I didn't think we'd get him.

Two other quick pieces of news to end of the first half of this episodes.

Firstly, the Russain star player at the Euro 08 Andrei Arshavin is heavily linked with a move to Arsenal. His agent claims that he is desperate to move to Arsenal.

Lachter says Zenit want £24million for the 27-year-old, who has been linked with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.

The player's agent, though, has suggested that Arshavin would welcome the opportunity to move to Emirates Stadium.

"Andrei is desperate to join Arsenal," said Lachter in the Daily Mirror.

"His style of play would suit them perfectly."

Final item to end of this section! The word is going around that Adriano Galliani is saying that AC Milan have put a move for Emmanuel Adebayor on hold amid reports the club are close to signing Ronaldinho. Does this mean Adebayor will be staying at Arsenal? Though he is linked to Barcelona as well!

What Are The Chances Of These Going Through?

1. Everton's Andy Johnson is linked with a £11 Million move to Wigan Athletic. Steve Bruce has made Johnson his priority signing. I think this deal will go through and there is a 75% chance of it happening.
2. Barcelona are moving ahead in their pursuit of Arsenal player Alexander Hleb. Hleb, a 27 year old has been unsettled at Arsenal for quite some time now and is looking for a way out. Also, with Arsenal signing Nasir and soon to be signed Arshavin, Hleb may not get much first team football. So chances of this deal going through are 80%.
3. According to The Sun, Manchester United has tabled a £20 Million bid for Tottenham stirker Dimitar Bebatov. Now nothing about this has been in the news and all of a sudden a bid has come. Well it  is unlikely to go through any time soon as it seems Manchester United are not that keen. Chances are only 45%.
4. Lampard to Inter Milan to re join with old coach Jose Mourinho? Now will this happen or not? Well if what The Sun is saying is right then chances are high. The Sun is claiming that new Chelsea boss Scolari has promised Frank Lampard he would help him make the move to Inter Milan and with Mourinho keen on signing this is an almost done deal. Chances are as high as 95%!
5. Finally, Portsmouth are poised to make a £10 Million bid for Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips. This coming in according to The Independent. Now this may be possible but none of the clubs have shown any intent or interest in this deal. Chances are a low 40%.

Queiroz has been appointed as boss of Portugal. The Manchester United assistant manager has finally left Manchester UNited to beocme the new head of Portugal. He has signed a four-year contract and is 53 years of age.

N'Zogbia: I dream of Arsenal... or Tottenham

French midfielder Charles N'Zogbia has dealt Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan a blow by admitting he is still keen on a move, with Premier League rivals Arsenal a preferred destination.

Lastly to close the show, Beckham is saying that Ronaldo's choice between staying at Manchester United or going to Real Madrid is a very tough choice.

David Beckham believes Cristiano Ronaldo has an 'incredibly difficult choice' to make between staying at Manchester United or joining Real Madrid.

Ronaldo, who has this summer spelt out his 'dream' of playing for the Spanish giants, has agreed with Sepp Blatter's claim that there is 'modern slavery' in the transfer market.

'I agree with the comments of the president of FIFA. What he said is right,' the 23-year-old winger told Portuguese channel TVI.
