Looks like I have more projects to work on! I received the Amy Butler fabric and some Gocco bulbs in the mail this morning (: YAY!! I've been wanting to try out some more stuff with my Gocco but haven't had any bulbs! I can't wait to do up some cards to sell at the Farmers Market this weekend! And that fabric...doesn't it just leave you speechless?? It's so beautiful I can't stop staring at it!

Did I tell you I went on a fabric shopping spree this weekend? Well, I did. I thought there was still a huge sale at Fabric Land so I traveled two hours to go to one...and it turned out the sale was over. But being the bargain shopper I am, I still managed to stay within my budget and find some great fabrics. These fabrics were still on sale, but just not the amazing 50-70% off that I was hoping for.

I'll be making these fabrics into bags starting tonight (no matter how tired I am!) and selling them at the Farmers Market this weekend! I can't wait!!

Photos: William Yan

I got to say, I'm not mad at the Capsule location, it was in the Angel Orensanz Center, which is originally a synagogue. My only concern was that it was TYPE HOT in there, even with the portable AC's and fans all over the 4 levels of today's mens designers. However, it was a better look than Project New York, which I stopped by for 30 mins. Capsule NY was full of trendy, cool people and some hipsters, might I add, all in all I see potential in the show with the brands. I've got to meet a couple of dope people, and in the coming days you guys will see some dope sneakers, clothes and accessories. For now, check out the layout of the spot.

Upon entry to Capsule, you were given a little booklet with Brand contacts and if you were lucky, also a limited edition Gabriel Urist "Capsule Pill" Necklace, which is a pretty cool alternative to the bags usually given out at Project, this year was a big tote bag with a fold-out map. What happen to the cool RTR Project bags along with Guide Books?

This handbags are a fashion statement, gorgeous highlights and complement our outfits.

Kate Bosworth is a fan of Chloe Saskia Pouchette, she was clicked when she arrived at Los Angeles airport.

Her bag is not the pouchette version, but the shoulder bag. If you are interesting in Chloe collection and don't wanna pay a lot of money, try one quality replica Chloe bags. High quality and the best prices.

Just about the time I sit down to sew I find 100 other things I couldbe doing. Today I made a tote bag for a friend and a throw pillow for me new guest room. I love the fabric used in both items. Here is the tote.

Here is the pillow I made today. My goal is to sew up a bunch of pillows for my new guest room. As you may be able to tell our guest could be considered a hippie room. I love it. It's such a happy room.

The crocodile leather is buttery soft as it is taken from the belly of the crocodile. Inside of the bags is lined with goatskin that is even more supple.

This bag had the perfect designer, the perfect chic feel, and the color was stunning. At least, we just can find one problem, the price, it is $37,500.

A great option is find a Gucci replica, with the same quality but of course, with straight price.

(As we continue on our Best of the '80's music as post titles... Thanks, Survivor, even if the search isn't REALLY over!)

Okay, so it's too soon to call it love and it surely wasn't with me all the while, but it was right before my eyes all the time. Luckily, Nichole has all kinds of books and products related to pets and yarns rolling in for her to review, and for some reason, suddenly, Namaste was on my radar. (She hasn't done her review yet, but it's going to be glowing, I promise!) I joined the Ravelry fan group. I clicked on link after link, read, looked at photos, and finally ordered something from The Loopy Ewe.

There's my Laguna, hanging out near the tomato plants. I had trouble getting an accurate photo for color inside, so that's a bit bright, and the rest - from inside - are a touch too dark.

Well, this is from outside too... Just a quick peek inside. They call this color turquoise, but it's really more of a sea green, which I'm delighted with. The interior fabric is indeed rather turquoise. I love all the pockets in this thing. There's a center divider with a pocket that runs the width of the bag. There's that little inside pocket you see in the photo, and we'll get to the outside soon.

Before we leave the inside, here's my happy little almost matching project bag. It's a Mrs. Kwittys bag. That travelled with the Laguna from The Loopy Ewe. I can't resist browns and blues together, and it's very happy holding my scarf in progress. It has more room than it needs on one side of the divider, so I could easily dump the blankie in progress and a spare skein of yarn in there instead, or carry a second fairly small project too. It is indeed more bag than I need for day to day life, but that keeps it nice and light.

Oh, is this bag light! It's a synthetic, soft, wonderful material that resists Sissy slobber with ease. For the first time, I let Sissy hover as I unwrapped my new bag. I let her sniff. My Laguna - as you can see - took it all in stride.

Here's a shot of the back. MJ says this is the most accurate, color-wise. From the bottom of the bag to the not-handle top, it's 17 inches. In its current state of un-stuffedness, it doesn't stand up (thus, my hand), but I've heard that if you cram it full, it'll take it. There are two magnets inside the top flap that hold it all closed. I suspect I'll drop my sunglasses or keys in this pocket, but right now, it's empty.

The pocket on the outside front (see the first photo) holds my camera well enough, but I suspect it will remain empty most of the time, just because shallower front pockets worry me.

Flopped over on itself as it likes to do, the bag is less that 10 inches tall. The straps are comfortable slung over the shoulder, and there's plenty of length there to wear it in a messenger style across the body too, but that's just not a comfortable style for me.

No, it doesn't hold loose papers with ease. I have about a dozen in there, and they're flopped over with the handle portion. I think a hard-bound book would hold its own, but otherwise, I'll have to make a copy and fold it up in my project bag. I'm back to toting papers to and from work in a folder too, so while I'm delighted with my new bag, it's still not the solution of my dreams.

So I am noticing that I''m beginning to develop a likeness for dark deep green bags. Yeah, this is definitely not a post about the environment or the global warming (or is it cooling?) problems.

I think this bag is funky and a bit odd looking which I think is great. The color green keeps it from looking cheap, think about what it would've looked like in pink! Either way, I want to show some ways of how to wear your own green bag!

Add the odd looking bag as a perfect finish to your vintage inspired set,

or, wear a flashy green bag to make a casual outfit stand out

a green bag can also be the perfect touch to spice up a classic outfit,

The peppy little dress you bought last year hasn’t seen light of day ever since winter set in. It’s time to get it out since it is springtime again! Last year’s spring fashion had a lot of black, whites, beiges and blush. It was a season of muted colors. However, the new spring fashion has come out with a lot of vibrancy. You’re allowed to go a little wild with shades this time.

Get yourself more effervescent yellows and striking blues. Also, some bright orange, fuchsia, and pink will definitely give the extra zing to the spring season. Short length skirts and frocks are in. Grab the chance to flaunt your shapely calves. Men can go for wide legged pants and short jackets. Retro styles always come back to form. Your accessories are also as important. Match your vivid attires with the right kind of footwear, bags and belts. Make a splash with your own spring fashion.

First things first. Follow now lives with us! I was able to get him from the SPCA. I don't want to get into the how and why. Let's just say the whole thing was insane. He's been here for four days and he already is looking better. But he still only ways 7 lbs. Today he even let out a few meows. They were very deep, nothing like how Dizzy sounds. Dizzy has taken to hiding under our chest of drawers, though Dizzy and Follow haven't yet met. Follow is under quarantine because of his respiratory infection.

[caption id="attachment_70" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Sick Follow"][/caption]
[caption id="attachment_71" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Dizzy Hiding"][/caption]

I also went to look at house today. It needs A LOT of work. I really can see the potential in it though.

My DH is away for a conference all week for work. So I had to look at the house alone (with my mom and the realtor). I'm so anxious. I want the house but I don't want to sign him up for work that he is not prepared to do. I guess I have to wait to see what he says. In the meantime I'll continue to wander around the house and stalk it. (They got an alarm system because of me).

I finally finished some bags that were supposed to be done months ago. Two sisters bought bags from me to help me raise money for my Leukemia and Lymphoma Society campaign. I hope they like them.

I think I'll make some more for the shop. So I'll be updating by the fall. I'm working on some shirts and onesies for the little ones too. I'll let you know when I do the update. And I leave you with this:

this past weekend was kind of a bust. on friday i was suppose to go to pandas workplace with deer. however deer had gone to the doctor earlier and she was still not feeling well from that. so i went home and went to bed. i decided that if i didnt do something really fun on sat i was going to have a problem. so on sat i wanted to go out obviously. panda just wanted to go out to fridays to drink and have some food. i wasnt too happy but alright i figured we would just go out after. so we were in there around 1120 got out around 1230. then went to the norm bc b.bear came home and was there. i was pretty much bored the entire time. i drank 2 beers and they werent even enjoyable. around 2 they were like well we kinda wanna go, what are you gonna do? "oh dont worry guys i'll be fine in a bar by myself with no friends, i'll just stay here. aka not at all the case. we left at 230. i got home and was wide awake. which made me annoyed bc i didnt want to be sitting home alone being bored. but what else can i do. i need more friends, or better places to go. im in a sad little self loathing type of mood. when i spend all week traveling to work or sitting around work feeling alienated because everyone there knows eachother so well, i feel like i need to spend time with friends at home. on sunday i did nothing really and today, well today i painted door frames for mom so she can paint them during the week.

in slightly happier news, i am gonna use my green jcrew tote for work now instead of my mickey mouse bag. i know its a thrilling change!!! i am kind of exicted. i thought it was gonna be toooo big but it seems like it shouldnt be a huge problem. i also will be getting paid on thursday night. so thats gonna make my weekend. bald eagle and i will be going to eat on thursday evening. have a cocktail and a nice meal. gossip and have an allaround good time. it better be at least or i will kill him since we have had to reschedule about 5 times. :-D

i watched Eli Stone. i liked it. enjoyable.

ABIDJAN (Reuters) - Cocoa runs in the family of Ivorian fashion designer Felicite Mai. It was her father, a tailor-turned-cocoa planter, who gave her her first sewing machine, a model dating back to 1952.

And for the last five years, this sewing-school graduate has been turning out eye-catching outfits made from the jute sacks used to ship Ivory Coast's top export - cocoa.

From her humble shop in the popular Treichville suburb of the economic capital Abidjan, Mai designs, cuts and fits clothes for men and women that use the natural beige colors and coarse fiber of cocoa and coffee sacks.

Normally stuffed to bursting with the cocoa beans that make Ivory Coast the world's No. 1 grower of the source of chocolate, Mai's creations are worn by a growing clientele of celebrities, artists and musicians, some even from abroad.

"Ivory Coast's economy is based on agriculture, especially cocoa and coffee. So I decided to promote these crops by creating these fashion designs," said Mai, whose real name is Maimouna Camara Gomet.

"For me, it's a way of drawing the whole world's attention to cocoa and coffee," she said.

Proud to wear her own designs, she sports a beige cut-off top with a frayed fringe, made from a jute sack, over blue jeans, a tape measure draped around her neck.

Her creations -- for both men and women -- include skirts, tops, trousers, shirts, waistcoats as well as caps, bags and accessories, mostly in the natural beige of the washed jute sackcloth, but sometimes also dyed darker brown or blue.

"PRODUCT OF IVORY COAST"

Her models say the "sack clothes" look good with traditional jewelry and ornaments, such as the cowrie shells that were the common currency of the West African coast during past centuries of the Atlantic slave trade.

Mai buys the sacks -- some stamped with the words "Product of Ivory Coast, Cocoa" -- from warehouses at Abidjan's bustling port. The jute material is washed and cut at her Treichville workshop, where a wax mannequin is used to help with fittings.

"I had this idea from when I was still at sewing school in 1987. Then I opened my own workshop in 1996 and I first launched these kind of designs in 2003 during a fashion contest at Divo (in the south of Ivory Coast)" said Mai, who has several assistants at her shop.

"My father was a tailor and he made jackets for the colonial settlers," she said, referring to Ivory Coast's former French colonial masters.

"Then he became a coffee and cocoa planter," she added.

Mai hopes that her sack fashion designs can serve as an attractive, enduring advertisement for her country's best known products -- cocoa and coffee.

"That was the livelihood of our parents," she said.

Oopsy! I just realized I skipped doing my weekly Goal entry last week!

July 6-13 = 330 views (Not bad...at least I got closer to my goal of 350 views per week. But the amount of daily views was really inconsistent, which is something I need to concentrate on more).

This past weeks views got up to 425 views. The average views per day was pretty steady, so I'm happy with that, although the weekend views are still down. The reason I exceeded my views was because I posted my blog link into an Etsy forum post about promotions. I thought I would drop the link there because the author of the post was asking about money saving ways to promote their Etsy store...and I had a couple in depth entries on that subject. Turns out, I got a huge amount of views from just that little link drop! Niiiice.

I've been noticing this past week that views have been easier to come by. I've still been promoting, but it seems as though I have some daily readers that pop by no matter if I promote the blog or not. This is awesome!! I really love the thought of having daily readers and people who constantly comment and enjoy my entries! It's so exciting!!

Also, I've noticed in my stats that I've been getting a couple people finding the Kj Blog through the Wordpress Dashboard (the WP main page)...which I'm thinking means that my blog has been on the main page (: That'd be so cool!!

This weeks creative goals:

Sewing at least one Kj Bag each evening (two or three would be ideal)

Making more price tags

Starting to crochet the hat I meant to start last week :b

Working more on my BIG PROJECT (shhh! It's a secret!)

It’s time for students to put together stuff they need for school. Back to school shopping lists needs to be made after checking the essentials you have, and the ones you need to replace. It’s an exciting time for children who are starting school since it is a big step for them towards learning and growth. It’s wonderful to see the tiny tots off to school with their new bags and books ready to take on the world.

Back to school shopping should be done in advance, so that you can do away with the last minute tensions. Bags, the most important item for children has to look cool as well as be ergonomic. Buy stuff that will excite the children and motivate them to get back to school. Students, who are starting college, need to get stuff for their dorm as well. Great options for basic needs like bed and other furniture for the dorm are available at online stores.

The one thing–and I do mean the ONE thing–that makes the biggest difference between loo

The one thing--and I do mean the ONE thing--that makes the biggest difference between looking haggard/sad/hung over and looking fresh/happy/sober is this....are you ready for it? Concealer. Bobbi Brown had it right when she called concealer "The secret to the universe". A good concealer covers your circles, firms your bags, and brightens your face immeasurably. When proving the powerful effects of concealer to a client, I like to apply it to only one eye and hand them a mirror. The reaction usually goes something like this:

"Oh my god. I look like I've been punched under the other eye. I had no idea my circles were so dark. But THIS eye....makes me look younger. And happier."

Is it really possible to make someone look happy by hiding their circles? Or a better question: How do dark circles make us look unhappy? What do they suggest?

Dark circles are a visual indication that someone is suffering in their life somehow.

When we see people with dark circles, we make a mental note of it (even if only subconsciously). Of course, as a society, we tend to let those sufferers slide when we learn something about their situation.

New mothers are certainly happy (right?), but they don't sleep. They have shifted from a state in which they worried only about themselves to one in which the weight of the world has been heaved (all 8 pounds of it) onto their shoulders. We understand their suffering, and expect their shadows and worries to be temporary. They never are.

Students are happy (right?), but they rely on all-nighters to study for exams, write papers, and participate in college culture (read: drink). We understand that they're working hard now so that they may one day be unfulfilled in their jobs and turn into responsible citizens. We expect their shadows and worries to be temporary. They're not.

Entrepreneurs are happy (right?), but they worry constantly about their investors, their loans, their mortgages, and whether or not their first business success will prove to be a "flash in the pan". We applaud their talent and their bravery, and expect their shadows and worries to be temporary. Ha!

So look around--happiness doesn't always show up on our faces in ways we might expect. Happy people often look unhappy, and here's another blow--unhappy people look even worse, which doesn't do anything to help their mood.

Dark circles are largely hereditary and hormonal. They are partially influenced by skin tone (the fairest tones and olive tones often have it the worst), and partially affected by lifestyle (stress, lack of sleep, diet). Circles are caused by a collection of blood under the surface of the skin--and no, surgery to cauterize those blood vessels is NOT the answer.

When I was 12, I found a natural recipe which claimed to bleach undereye circles with a blended mixture of raw potatoes and yogurt. It worked. That is to say, it bleached my SKIN, thereby lightening my purple shadows a shade or two. If having slightly paler purple or green circles is enough to inspire you, then rush out and buy some potatoes. What really works, though is makeup. It is easy, it is effective, and it has the added bonus of making you look happy. I will leave my house without lipstick, without mascara, and without blush. If I ever leave my house without undereye concealer, rest assured that it is on fire.

The concealer I currently use (and no, it is NOT green) is Bobbi Brown's creamy corrector/concealer. It is the very best mainstream concealer on the market. Trust me, I've been around. On the department store end of things, I have tried Dior, Chanel, YSL, Nars, Estee Lauder, Lancome, Armani, Laura Mercier, and Trish McEvoy. From drugstores I have tried Physicians Formula, Covergirl, Mabelline, L'Oreal, Max Factor, and Almay. (Circles plagued me from a young age). For some time now, I have been obsessed with finding "green" concealer options. I will not stop until I find one that I can feel good about using everyday for the rest of my life, even if I have to make it from scratch myself. (I guarantee there will be no potatoes in it).

Here's what I've tried so far:

Suki Concealer in Flax or Linen: I used this liquid product at a fashion show, and didn't like the way it went on. (I worked with another artist and she had the same experience): it tended to "roll" under the eye, rather than gliding and blending. Also, limited by two tones. Really? There are only two colors of women out there?

Josie Maran: I've written about this one before. Three stick shades, all of which are too tan/orange for a fair skinned person, and too light for a dark skinned person. Application was fine, but I didn't find it "buildable", without it looking cakey, which is important. Also, I hate having to read labels when a company brands themselves as clean.

Dr. Hauschka: The wand is a popular concealer tool, and you can't fault ol' Hauschka on ingredients, but the coverage is too sheer, and the shades (there are three) don't embrace even a majority of the population...except maybe the population of Germany.

Eco Nvey: I was SOOOO excited to try this little pressed pot of concealer (nice and green) BUT with only two shades to choose from.....are you seeing a theme yet? I will say that the consistency of this one was great. It was buildable, creamy, and blended really nicely, but the lighter shade looked positively yellow on me, and I wouldn't get tan enough for the darker shade even if sailed around the world twice.

Sheer Cover: I was curious about this mineral makeup brand a while back. I had tried Bare Minerals, (who hasn't?) and found their recommendation for powdered undereye concealer to be suitable for only those women who are naturally very moist/greasy under the eye (who is?). Sheer Cover had a selling point: a two toned creamy concealer with less offensive ingredients than most on the market. Result? It works. It's buildable, blendable, and moist. And here's a shocker: they offer a shade that matches my skin. It's a decent option for women who are already using their mineral line, though I won't continue to use it (not green enough for my blood).

If I'm willing to compromise a little, I'm willing to compromise a lot. Until I find my dream green concealer, I'm going to keep using the one I love. Everyone's got their sticking point. Concealer's mine.
