<p>I also want to give a shout out to how responsive he can be.  I e-mailed him tonight for advice on digital SLRs as my sister is looking into buying one.  12 minutes later I got two suggestions with follow up questions to help narrow it further.</p>

Kalaupun akan disebut sebagai da`i (muballigh), maka Deddy Mizwar adalah seorang ”da`i plus”. Mengapa demikian? Karena ia berbeda dengan da`i-da`i lain sebagaimana pada umumnya. Deddy Mizwar tidak hanya paham dengan materi dakwahnya, tapi ia juga memiliki pengetahuan/ keterampilan untuk menyampaikannya agar lebih menarik dan mengena. <p>Review:</p>
<p>This article pertains to whether presenting music live, audio-visually, or aurally makes any difference for listeners' experiences.</p>
<p>Prior to reading the article, I would say that the medium in which music is experienced most definitely effects the way the listener experiences the goings on.  It is one thing to enjoy a band while listening to their CD, or mp3 (as we have denoted through project 2 as the most popular means), yet a completely different understanding is gained through attending a live performance.  Finnas's article brings up the point that there are "three fundamental forms of music in our modern musical culture, live music, ausio-visually presented music, and aurally presented music" (p. 55).  And all three bring about different experiences and reactions to the music itself.</p>
<p>Live music denotes that both the artist and the fan, or listener are present at the performance.  Live performances "clearly [have] a particular immediacy and vividness" (p. 57).  The music surrounds you and is up front and clear.  When all of your senses are heightened by whats is going on you are more likely to "attend to the situation confronted and to retain the information about it" (p. 57).  At times a listener may feel connected to the performer.  There is the opportunity for eye contact, for intimacy, for direct communication of the message.  "This implies a situation making the musicians especially disposed to communicate their messages expressively to an audience especially disposed to listen with attention and receptivity, trying to experience the music in empathy with the musicians" (p. 57).</p>
<p>Audio-visual presentation is a form of media used to "transmit or reproduce music simultaneously with visual material, generally moving pictures" (p. 56).  Examples of audio-visual music experiences would be watching a concert on tv, music videos, youtube videos, dvd's that accompany cd's, or any other form of pre-recording of music that is accompanied by visual elements.    Although on still experiences the music by listening to it and viewng what the artist intended, they can never comprehend or re-create the atmosphere felt, or the feel of direct communication obtained while watching a live performance.</p>
<p>Aural presentation of music is "simply listening to technically transmitted music without particular visual stimuli" (p. 56).  In listening to music the listener is in charge, they control the atmosphere, the flow of the piece, the beginning and ending of listening.  In the past the quality of sound of aural performance may have been a significant factor but "modern reproduction techniques have radically reduced these differences in acoustical fidelity" (p. 56).  There is no physical connection or communication involved.  it is a one way street.  Benefits of aural music presentation reside in the idea that "visual stimuli may interfere in a negative way with listening to music" (p. 57).  It make distract the listener.  When visual stimuli is included, whether live or pre-recorded, the listener/observer may become distracted by the aesthetics, what the performers are wearing, the lighting involved, the positioning of the instruments, the dancing that may accompany the performance, etc.  These are not factors in the aural performance analysis of music.</p>
<p>Although, "Aetheticians, musicians, music educators and psychologists have drawn attention to the possibility that some visual features accompanying music may not only leave the listener's experience undisturbed, but may even influence it positively" (p.57).  I guess it all depends on how you are judging the music experience, if it is solely on the music or if you're including the "extra-musical elements" as well (p. 58).  In some of the studies reviewed students who attended live shows expressed greater overall interest in furthering their knowledge and attendance of music experiences.</p>
<p>To conclude, " the results [of these studies] clearly suggest advantages of an increased use of live music for enhancing affective and attitudinal reactions" (p. 74).  To research the topic further it was suggested that studies be conducted of "the effects regarding less 'concert-like' live presentation[s]" (p. 74).  Possibly isolating the experience to a room with a band verses a room with a tv playing a song of the band with visual representation verses a radio playing the band's music.</p>

<p>Di berbagai kota besar di Pulau Jawa, belum lama ini didirikan <em>Digital Outdoor</em> dengan LED System. Media ini berada di tempat2 strategis yang diletakkan di atas Pos Polisi di berbagai perempatan yang memang lalu lintasnya krodit.</p>
<p>Digital Outdoor tersebut digunakan oleh-klien utamanya, atau mungkin pemiliknya-Djarum semua produk (Black, LA Light, Djarum Super) dan berbagai event yang disponsorinya. Taktis memang, Djarum menggunakan media ini untuk mempromosikan <em>group brand</em> mereka karena dianggap cukup ekonomis walaupun di awalnya diperlukan investasi yang tidak kecil.</p>

<p>Di Pasaraya Blok M, juga didirikan Media Digital Outdoor yang dinamakan <em>Pasaraya BigScreen</em>. Media ini terselenggara atas kerjasama Pasaraya dan <a title="Pasaraya BigScreen" href="http://www.klikbillboard.com" target="_blank">Tritama Media</a>, suatu perusahaan billboard di Jakarta. Media yang satu agak berbeda dengan milik Djarum karena teknologinya menggunakan <em>LCD Projector</em> dengan pencahayaan yang sangat tinggi dan dilengkapi dengan sound (<em>Audio Visual</em>).</p>
<p>Media <em>BigScreen</em> ini boleh digunakan oleh siapa saja sebagai sponsornya layaknya iklan2 di TV. Hanya saja, tidak semuanya berupa iklan melainkan ada konten lainnya, misalnya pemutaran klip2 musik yang saat ini sedang di rilis oleh produsen rekaman.</p>
<p>Biaya penyelenggaraannya? Sangat ekonomis tidak seperti LED System. Maka bagi pemasang iklan di media ini hanya dikutip  biaya iklan sebesar 10 - 25 rb per spot (gross) sebelum di diskon.</p>
<p>Nah bagi rekan2 <em>agency billboard</em> atau pengiklan yang ingin memanfaatkannya, silakan mempertimbangkannya.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Cultura da Imagem</strong>. Este foi o tema escolhido pelo Comitê Organizador para o 4º Congresso Internacional de Comunicação, Mídia e Cultura do Cisc, "co<strong><span style="color:#cc0000;">M</span></strong>cult", e o Simpósio Internacional "Re<strong><span style="color:#cc0000;">V</span></strong>er Flusser". O evento será realizado em outubro em São Paulo e apresenta novidades em sua estrutura geral. Esta edição do co<strong><span style="color:#cc0000;">M</span></strong>cult será ampliada com sessões de trabalhos para temáticas contíguas às linhas de pesquisa do Cisc.</p>
<p><span style="color:#0000cc;">"Cultura e Tecnoimagem"</span>, para trabalhos nas áreas de vídeo, fotografia, cinema, internet, animação etc.; <span style="color:#0000cc;">"Imagens Sonoras e Audioculturas"</span>, contemplando pesquisas sobre todos os textos sonoros; <span style="color:#0000cc;">"Imagem e Cidade"</span>, para reunir trabalhos nas áreas de arquitetura, paisagismo, design urbano, planejamento de políticas públicas, acessibilidade urbana e temas correlatos; <span style="color:#0000cc;">"Imagem e Mídia"</span>, para reunir os interessados em jornalismo, publicidade e propaganda, relações públicas; <span style="color:#0000cc;">"Imagem e Corpo"</span>, para expor pesquisas em artes do corpo como teatro, dança, performance etc.; <span style="color:#0000cc;">"Política Cultural e Economia da Imagem"</span>; para abrigar trabalhos nas recentes áreas do marketing político e cultural, adminstração e projetos culturais, além da sessão <span style="color:#0000cc;">"Culturas das Imagens e Transcendência"</span>, com o propósito de permitir o debate do tema entre a psicanálise, a filosofia, as ciências da religião.</p>
<p>Será reservado um dia inteiro para a realização do Simpósio Internacional "Re<span style="color:#cc0000;"><strong>V</strong></span>er Flusser", com palestrantes europeus e nacionais convidados. Deste modo os inscritos participam das atividades de dois eventos distintos e recebem certificação correspondente a cada um deles.</p>
<p>A chamada dos trabalhos está aberta e os interessados em participar devem encaminhar os textos formatados nos padrões da ABNT incluindo resumo, abstract e um breve currículo para: <a href="mailto:secretaria.comcult@cisc.org.br"><strong><span style="color:#f48712;">secretaria.comcult@cisc.org.br</span></strong></a></p>
<p>O NotiCisc fará uma ampla divulgação dos valores de inscrição, local, informações sobre hospedagem e alimentação ao longo do mês de abril. Acompanhe diariamente no site do Cisc.</p>

<p>I found the following items stuck up my toilet drain last night:</p>
<p>1/2 a pencil</p>
<p>1 nail brush</p>
<p>1 contact lens case</p>
<p>3 tooth brushes</p>
<p>and last but not least:</p>
<p>A bottle of contact lens solution (120 ml)</p>
<p>The funny thing is  the toothbrushes went missing a week ago, and the toilet was working fine until last night! Both Paris and Kaia informed us that they were "down toilet" with  gleeful giggles, but the toilet flushed, so I thought the brushes were either long gone or somewhere else.</p>
<p>After a week I really wanted to brush my teeth so I  put on a rubber glove and stuck my hand down the toilet.  Just joking! I actually spent $65 (really $65 ugh!) on new toothbrushes and toothpaste the day before. I thought the electric ones would be harder to loose.</p>
<p>My question is what did they actually manage to flush away? Is that where Tyler's cell phone went?</p>
