Well, I'll tell you.

Firstly, Drive on, Driver by the Magnetic Fields. Sorry that I couldn't find a better audio host than that one, but do take the time to listen to it. It sounds like a mixture between The Jesus and Mary Chain and Au Revoir Simone and all kinds of awesome. Granted, this song doesn't have Stephin Merritt's lulling baritone, but the other tracks on the album (Distortion) feature it fairly prominently--so don't worry.

Secondly, Lover's Spit by Broken Social Scene. The version I just linked you to is actually a B-Side version of the song which features Leslie Feist as the lead vocalist. Here is the version from You Forgot It in People:

By the way, if you don't have a copy of You Forgot it in People, do yourself a favor and go out and get it right now. It's ridiculous how awesome that album is.

Lastly, The Smashing Pumpkins' song, "Siva" off of their debut album, Gish:

I love this song mostly for its drums. I can't get enough. They just sound so necessary. Y'know how in Jazz the drums are treated as a lead instrument instead of just a means to keep time? It's like that.

Anyways, I hope this post has been enlightening for you, as I'm sure this question has been burning through your skull for the last couple weeks. I'm glad to have alleviated that burden.

I was going to do an outfit post today, but I kind of forgot to have my mum take a picture for me. I'll try to do that tomorrow, because I'm going out to dinner and the movies with my friends and have a nice outfit chosen already.

So instead, I'm going to share with you an excellent clothing line I learned about a few weeks ago (on a fashion blog, Style Bubble if I remember correctly).

It's called Mine by Katherine Pont. Pont was an illustrator before she started designing Mine. Her collections are displayed in an almost storybook fashion online, a quaint nod to her art beginnings. Each collection is like an adventure unfolding. Indeed, one might feel a sudden urge to move to the forests of Bavaria and live in a cottage when they see the Autumn/Winter 2008 designs (or maybe that's just me!). The collection features delicate knits, lederhosen-esque jumpers, and "dressy" shorts in a palette of oatmeal, camel, mint green, and navy blue. The varying necklines are embellished very cleverly, from vertical strips of fabric to buttoned turtlenecks. It's all very milkmaid chic, but in the best possible way. The accessories are spot on: tights with two lines up the side, what appear to be plastic necklaces with a bow print etched on, cross-body pouches, and adorable hats. She has a great eye for detail, but nothing looks fussy or over-designed. Even from the big name designers, I have seen few collections so far that truly encapsulate the feeling of autumn/winter as this one does.

And since I don't trust my ability to describe the collection accurately, here are some of my favorite looks. You can view the rest by clicking the link on their website (the link from the first paragraph).

I highly recommend you check out her previous collections as well. I always love seeing how a designer evolves over time.
It's not too late (I have to start blogging during the day instead of right before bed!), so I'll share an mp3 with you. This song is by Natasha Khan, who goes by the name of Bat For Lashes. She, as well as the lovely girls of Au Revoir Simone, are fans of Mine by Katherine Pont. It's only appropriate that I share a song of hers!
\"What\'s A Girl To Do\" by Bat For Lashes
As always, comments are encouraged. For all I know, what is aesthetically pleasing to me could be hideous to others! My brother would agree with that statement; he came in to see what I was doing and promptly declared the model "Ugly. She has no rack". I retorted that she is a model, and therefore is beautiful to a large group of people. He then went on to say that the clothes were also ugly and that no guy would find a girl wearing them attractive. Tony may think that girls dress for the attention of men, but I sure don't, and I hope none of you feel that unnecessary pressure.
Feminist-ly yours,
Caroline Grace

Vivímos en Brooklyn, New York.

Grizzly Bear, TV On The Radio, Purse Snatchers, Uninhabitable Mansions, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Apache Beat.

Buena onda.

In english...

What's the meaning of the name? The history.
Our band name comes from the movie by Tim Burton called "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" we love the movie!

Where's the "strong point" in your songs?
We get excited about our songs because we write them collaboratively. When a song is finished, we know that it reflects a piece of all three of us as individuals.

How did you meet each other?
I used to play in a band with annie's boyfriend. We met and became friends instantly and decided to start and all keyboard band. Heather was a friend from the neighborhood. She was cool, in the art scene and has very good taste in music so we invited her to join as well.

Where do you live? How is the scene there?
We live in Brooklyn New York. It is a very lovely community. We often run into friends walking down the street and enjoy the energy, the feeling of home and the changing of the seasons. Plus, there is always something fun & creative to do!

Which bands are your friends in the city?
Grizzly Bear, TV On The Radio, Purse Snatchers, Uninhabitable Mansions, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Apache Beat.

What where the records of your childhood? What music did your parents listen?
We all had different records playing in our homes growing up but we all loved The Beatles.

What others non musical influences, bring you ideas or motivation for your music?
Nature, Friendship, Love.

Which song sounds better in your shows?
We like to play some slow dreamy songs and some fun dance songs during a show.

In what others proyects are you involved?
Annie is playing in a band called Uninhabitable Mansions.

The life is...
Gentle.

But what exactly is the difference between a music blog and an Mp3 blog? I'm not all too sure, but The Catbirdseat seems to know.

Así llegan a su primer LP, The Bird of Music.

It's been going on for a while now. Places like muxtape.com and mixwit.com and a friends own mix called "This is not a mixtape". I decided to join in and went ahead and created an account on both sites for the TILT Music Blog. Muxtape is more flexible because it depends completely on the music one uploads. But since the evil RIAA people like fucking with the musicians AND the fans, I think I'll leave that one alone for now. Mixwit on the other hand has a limited supply of songs, very little if any in spanish. It feeds from two sources ( Seeqpod & Skreemr). The variety of songs is limited also and it seems to be connected to amazon.

In this ocassion I decided to compile from the artists available, 10 of the ones already reviewed on this section. So even though you could very easily go into myspace and listened individually, this is a simpler way for you to make a decision. At least in my case, sometimes a single song is what I need to determine if I like the style, voice, melody, etc. Enjoy our first mix tape.

Pram, the ever-mysterious Birmingham trio fronted by Rosie Cuckston, release a new EP on July 21st through Domino. Prisoner Of The 7 Pines features remixes of tracks from last year's The Moving Frontier, with contributions from lovable labelmates Psapp among others. The EP will be released both digitally and on 12" vinyl:

I gotta admit it, I hate it when I like a band or something and it shows up on a really really commercial tv-show or radio-station. War, famine, poverty, decease, bands I like showing up on TRL.. Those are the things that are horribly wrong in this world and need to be eradicated.

So to the point.. WTF are The Teenagers doing on that very same MTV show? Why? I fucking hate all those screaming kids and the "Vj's" that are total dumbasses, it's so frickin' plastic I lose all hope for youth of the world.. Does this mean I have to start hating The Teenagers? Or should I just join in with the rest of the ass-lemurs and scream like a insecure 16-year old boy lost on the island of Mykonos surrounded by 10 men Tom of Finland style.. I'm lost for words.

Au Revoir Simone create beautiful music, and so does The Teenagers.. Even though the resemblance is tiny, this remix is allright, nothing to pump up the party with.. Maybe if you're more of a calm person you'll get pumped up. And I stole it from music is art.

So I haven't updated in a few days and for that I'm sorry. A lot has been going on and I have had no time at all. Anyway, lets do a run down of the most eventful day..

Thursday...

I was asked to cover/shoot photos for a small event/gathering set in a music production studio in or around say Chinatown..I agreed to do it and oh man, it was just an epic party. I get there and everything is very low key and I dunno... "quaint"..is that the word I'm looking for? People are just standing around and talking listening to tunes curated by Tom Kuntz who was actually in attendance. A great guy by the way and very easy to talk to and just an all around joy to be around. AND ======> He is the awesome man responsible for that awesome Skittles commercialthat features that guy who touches things and those things become thousands of skittles! I love that commercial soo much and had no idea until today actually that he was responsible for it! So humbling. The really cool thing about this new gig is that I dont have to do anything with the pictures..everything is exclusive..it's great..so it's like I'm working covert ops or something. It's kinda awesome. At first I was a little turned off by the fact that they didn't want me to publish the photos on my site, but then I thought about it and loved it! Ha. It really matches the whole 007 vibe that the studio gives off, being underground and all..

Other notable people at the party included...
+ Barbara Pierce Bush whose fraternal twin Jenna Bush just got married.
+ Michel Gondry who wrote and directed Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind which won Best Original Screenplay at the 2005 Academy Awards!
+ Au Revoir Simone, an awesome all girl band that utilizes keyboards and synths and beautiful voices.
+ Levin Rambin, who's been nominated for 2 daytime Emmys, and requested a photo with me! Haha. I had no idea that she was on the big screen I just thought she was a really nice girl and that she had a lot of energy which is great!
+ Michel Gondry's son, Paul Gondry, who is just a badass! haha. He is a great awesome kid and he wore a kilt and no shirt all night while he parties his ass off with his friends.
+ Jamie Johnson, heir to to Johnson & Johnson fortune.
+ Brooke Geahan, founder of the Accompanied Literary Society.

Thursday night was a crazy good night and I really had a great time..

Night nerds, all this name dropping has me pooped.
