I kind of like the band The Moldy Peaches, they have some interesting (anti-)folk music, and singer Kimya Dawson has a very unique voice.  The other day I saw a commercial for Atlantis Resort and I was pretty confused by the fact that the Moldy Peaches song "Anyone Else But You" (featured in the ending of the movie Juno) had been rewritten to advertise dolphin-riding and playing golf.  While reworking a song for a commercial is not totally unheard of, I'm surprised The Moldy Peaches would allow this; they just don't seem like the kind of band to "sell out" by making product jingles.  Most of the music from the Moldy Peaches (and Kimya Dawson in her solo pursuits) is pretty experimental, and goes out of the way to avoid cliche and the-materialism-as-success-mentality.  While the song itself is catchy--even in its rewritten form--I just think this is a bad marketing decision for The Moldy Peaches.  If you haven't seen the commercial I'm talking about, RollingStone.com has the complete video.

So Amanda and I took a 3 day vacation with some of our very best friends. While at dinner one night, BT and I were talking about some of the trips we have gone on together and with other friends. I am not the best at remembering vacations and past memories. You know, there are people who can be like, "remember that time 10 years ago when we did this and you said that?" I'm not one of those people. I'm not happy about that and I'm not sure why I don't remember those things well, but I don't.

Anyway, we were at dinner one night and we started going through some of our travels. . .

- New York City - Met President Bush (then Governor Bush)

- San Francisco - A visit to Half Moon Bay to see Mavericks (surfing site)

- Los Angeles - Sunset Strip and tickets to "showcase type" small shows (Bush, Beck, Verve Pipe)

- New Orleans - Amazing meal with friends at Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse and stretch Excursion Limo.

- Bahamas - Atlantis and all that goes with it.

- South Beach - Deep Sea fishing with "Mark the Shark".

- Las Vegas - UFC 58. . . among other things.

- Atlanta - Annual Braves trip with Coleman and Breland.

There were a lot of really good times and great memories had over the last 8 years on these trips. It's really inspired me to start writing this stuff down. Not forgetting all the cool life experiences I've gotten to have over the years.
