Lauren London got her claim to fame by being a hip hop girl friend. Recently, London was quoted as saying she likes a thug and the thug lifestyle according Hot of the Wire on the Russ Parr morning show. She don't want no soft dude was another alleged quote. One has to assume London's definition of a thug is someone that calls her a bitch, slaps her from time to time and has a few court cases from time to time.

Although a person is a labeled a thug, this person may not have the best interest or give a dam about London. If we are going by the street definition of thug, one is reminded of innocent killing, torn communities and other harmful acts of terrorism. One needs to redirect London's definition of a protector and provider to warrior or even warrior thugs. Most warriors look out for the community and try to protect it and are not that self centered.

What are you doing today??

Después de estudiar los gustos, preferencias, nivel socieconómico y características de las personas a las que nos dirigiremos y tenemos claro:

- Objetivo de la campaña
- Las personas a las que nos dirigiremos
- Mensaje a utilizar
- Presupuesto asignado
- Macroprogramación (duración de la campaña)
- Alcance (¿a cuántas personas le llegará el mensaje?)
- Zona geográfica
- Equipo de ventas
- Medición (¿cómo mediremos los resultados de la campaña?)

A estas alturas del proceso, lo que nos hace falta es saber qué medios debemos emplear y elegir los adecuados para que la campaña cumpla con el objetivo y sea un éxito.

Dos términos muy empleados dentro del mundo de la mercadotecnia son BTL y ATL, pero ¿qué significan?

BTL (Below The Line o "debajo de la línea") se conoce como una técnica de marketing que se caracteriza por tener un contacto más directo con las personas. El BTL se dirige a segmentos de mercado específicos mediante estrategias de comunicación no masivas en las cuales los mensajes son transmitidos de una manera diferente y poco convencional, lo cual logra sorprender y sacar de la rutina a quien los mira. Utiliza medios tales como correo directo, guerrilla, eventos promocionales, merchandising (actividades en el punto de venta), mailing, etc.

ATL (Above The Line o "sobre la línea") es otra técnica de marketing que, para promocionar productos o servicios, se vale de medios de comunicación masivos tales como radio, prensa (periódicos y revistas), cine, etc. Por lo general el utilizar este tipo de medios es muy costoso y se recomiendo utilizar cuando nos dirigiremos a un gran número de personas.

¿Cómo elegir la mejor alternativa?, ¿Se pueden utilizar ambas estrategias?
La respuesta dependerá de nuestro presupuesto y sobre todo del perfil de nuestro mercado meta. No es lo mismo una campaña que se lanzará dirigiéndose a empresarios a nivel internacional, a una que será dirigida a jóvenes y niños a nivel nacional o local.

Haciendo una comparación entre BTL y ATL, podemos decir que la diferencia más acentuada entre ambas estrategias es la respuesta del receptor y el alcance.

Con una estrategia BTL podemos recibir un feedback (retroalimentación) en menor tiempo que con una de ATL. La cercanía con el público y el grado de impacto que puedes lograr con una estrategia BTL es mayor que la de ATL. En un medio masivo, además de ser más difícil la segmentación del mercado, los costos son muy elevados, por lo que las empresas deben contar con un capital capaz de solventar dicha inversión.

Considero que en una campaña publicitaria podemos hacer uso de ambas estrategias y aprovechar los beneficios que cada una nos puede brindar. Lo importante aquí es la correcta planeación desde el inicio de la campaña, acertar con la frase que llevará el mensaje y el buen manejo de todos los elementos, tanto de imágenes como elementos de audio y audiovisuales que apoyarán el proyecto para lograr cercanía e identificación con las personas que buscamos nos respondan o conozcan.

Podemos estar "bajo la línea" o "sobre la línea" e incluso podemos estar "en la línea", siempre y cuando sepamos llegar en el momento y lugar indicado con una buena campaña.

When my youngest brother came down on saturday and was hanging out with us, Jesse said some things that maybe he should not have about my step-mother.  It was a fair warning to us about what to expect at this wedding shower, it was also a bit of a joke between the guys.   The sort of thing where you say something in passing as a way to get other people to laugh.  Nothing serious, just a sort of humor to make light of the situation we would soon find ourselves in.

I bring this up because my youngest brother just doesn't seem to understand stuff like that.  He turned around and told my mom what Jesse said.  That is his right and it's his choice but it does kind of bother me.  You want to come and hang out with the guys but then you're going to tell everyone everything that the guys do?  That just seems kind of wrong to me.  Maybe I am overstepping here, but I feel like there are some things that don't really leave the group once the group seperates.  Especially damaging things that could potentially hurt other peoples feelings, even if they were said as a joke.

Because of Justin's choices, Jesse now has to worry about what is going on behind the scenes with my mom.  Jesse is a good guy and he doesn't deserve that, and what's worse is that my mom never lets things go.  Never, when my mom meets my new friends or girls, she often brings up the things that were the worst of me as a child.  I wasn't always the best, but it certainly does seem a bit strange that a parent constantly tries to tear down their child instead of making them seem as amazing as possible to these new people.  Maybe I am crazy though...  Just a bummer that he would do something like that.  I guess I have never really been a momma's boy though so maybe I don't understand.

This past Tuesday, Lauren, Coop and I met up at Sugarhill for the Tuesday Night Jam. The event is one big jam session backed by a house band, and hosted by the ever so beautiful Joi (you know, Big Gipp's baby mama/wife). In addition to this past Tuesday being the night for Tuesday Night Jam, it was also a BET Awards viewing party, an album listening party for Anthony David's new release which is entitled 'Acey Ducey' (I hope I spelled that correctly...) and an album release party for Hidden Beach Recordings Presents: Unwrapped, Volume 5.0: The Collipark Cafe Sessions.

Needless to say, it was a busy night. We got there a little after 8, and the place was already crowded. It started off pretty slow with 102.5 (which is my favorite radio station) broadcasting live from the spot. It was a pretty chill event. Anthony David came out and performed a couple tracks, and then, some of the guys from Hidden Beach (which included Mike Phillips who KILLED it!) took to the stage, and performed some of the tracks off the CD for us. I'm definitely gonna have to go out and buy all 5 albums because the music was on point.

A little while later, they cut on the B.E.T. Awards. Coop, Lauren & I were chatting it up, laughing and just enjoying the atmosphere. I turned around to see what was happening on the BET Awards, and here's what I noticed:

All that air humping Chris Brown was doing was COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. When I say it caught me off guard, it truly did. However, I will say that Ciara could drop it down on me anytime she wishes (Yo Ciara, hit me up on e-mail for my phone number...). Note to Chris Brown: Lauren has an eye on you. You'd better watch yo back bruh. LOL

Everything was going well when the Al Green tribute came on. I was watching the screen when I saw this guy walk onto the stage. Since they showed it from a wide shot, you couldn't really tell who it was, but with me being farsighted as all hell, I said "Hey y'all, that looks like Maxwell...". And sure enough... As soon as it was clear that it was in fact Maxwell, every woman in the place started swooning and fanning themselves. I busted out laughing. Lauren and Coop immediately picked up their phones and started texting whoever and I shot an e-mail to Sixty just to give her a heads up (b/c she's Maxwell's Number 1 Fan), although I had a feeling that she was already watching it.

Around 11, the Jam Session started, and let me say, Joi came on stage and did this funky version of The Eurythmics's 'Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This'. Everything Joi performed was on point. I found myself getting down to the music and just enjoying myself.

During the intermission, Algebra walked in. I bought her album off of iTunes a few months back, but I listened to it for the first time while en route to Atlanta. With the album being as good as it was, I was shocked to see her there (Lauren pointed out that she's at Sugarhill all the time). I was still shocked because back home in Baltimore, you don't see too many celebrities out and about at various nightspots. I had my little 5 seconds of being starstruck and I was ready for her to jump on stage and perform. The DJ put on Afrika Bambaataa's 'Planet Rock' and the whole place started dancing. We ended up having a lil breakdancing battle with the ladies at the table next to us. I had to let 'em know "I might be a big dude, but I can still get down." LOL

Joi came back out (and performed Coop's song 'Lick') and I was minding my own business, just vibin' and enjoying the atmosphere when I heard Lauren and Coop talking about somebody. I was looking around trying to see who they were talking about, and I saw this:

What the Hell!?!?!?!? I shook my head and turned around, and Lauren and Coop just laughed. Looking at that was traumatizing to say the least.  Why the hell would you leave the house looking like that?

As the night went on, some amateurs came on stage and performed with the band. At this point, I was waiting to see Algebra. One after the other, after the other came on stage. The last straw for me was D'Maestro. Dude was trying to hit the same high notes that Joi had been hitting that entire night. Lauren said that he looked like a bigger version of Cee-Lo, to which I replied "You think he'd perform Closet Freak?" I will admit, dude can sing.

After he left the stage another amateur came on, and the three of us made our exit. I wanted to see Algebra perform, but at this point, it was almost 1:30 AM, and the 3 of us had to be at work in a few hours. I definitely had a ball, and I will be back before I leave. Hopefully Algebra will be back the next time. I had fun chillin with Lauren & Coop, and i'm pretty sure that we'll do it again soon.

A Canoa Virou

Uma patinha que teve quatro patinhos muito lindos, porém quando nasceu o último, a patinha exclamou espantada:
- Meu Deus, que patinho tão feio!

Quando a mãe pata nadava com os filhos, todos os animais da quinta olhavam para eles:
- Que pato tão grande e tão feio! 
Os irmãos tinham vergonha dele e gritavam-lhe:
- Vai-te embora porque é por tua causa que toda a gente está a olhar para nós!

Afastou-se tanto que deu por si na outra margem. De repente, ouviram-se uns tiros. O Patinho Feio observou como um bando de gansos se lançava em voo. O cão dos caçadores persegui-o furioso.

Conseguiu escapar do cão mas não tinha para onde ir, não deixava de andar. Finalmente o Inverno chegou. Os animais do bosque olhavam para ele cheios de pena.
- Onde é que irá o Patinho Feio com este frio?  Não parava de nevar. Escondeu-se debaixo de uns troncos e foi ali que uma velhinha com um cãozinho o encontrou.
- Pobrezinho! Tão feio e tão magrinho!
E levou-o para casa.

Lá em casa, trataram muito bem dele. Todos, menos um gatinho cheio de ciúmes, que pensava: "Desde que este patucho está aqui, ninguém me liga". 

Voltou a Primavera. A velha cansou-se dele, porque não servia para nada: não punha ovos e além disso comia muito, porque estava a ficar muito grande.
O gato então aproveitou a ocasião.
- Vai-te embora! Não serves para nada!

A nadar chegou a um lago em que passeavam dois belos cisnes que olhavam para ele. O Patinho Feio pensou que o iriam enxotar. Muito assustado, ia esconder a cabeça entre as asas quando, ao ver-se reflectido na água, viu, nada mais nada menos, do que um belo cisne que não era outro senão ele próprio. 

Os cisnes desataram a voar e o Patinho Feio fugiu atrás deles.
Quando passou por cima da sua antiga quinta, os patinhos, seus irmãos, olharam para eles e exclamaram:
- Que cisnes tão lindos!

"Chief Who?!?!" Anyone who utters this gaffe obviously hasn't lived in Atlanta before 1991. After you're done turning up your nose at this Atlanta faux pas-er, use this throwback T to inform them of the great storied tale of the broadly smiling Chief Nocahoma who is all but extinct from current Braves lore. This particular item was given to me for my birthday and graces my physique as often as possible. It's available at Distant Replays which is my all time favorite retro sports store. 

Still need more proof that you're a true dye in the wool Braves fan who's retro style is so obscure it's cool? Well hang this little number up in your kitchen like I did. 

Be prepared to scoff at ignoramuses who can't identify all these classic Atlanta logos. Throw in a whitty and condescending "If you don't know, I'll never tell you" snide remark whenever guests scratch their heads in wonder of who had "Pac Man" on their uniforms or who was the "Fire Team". Then roll your eyes dismissively and properly shun the outsider. This too was a birthday gift I received after drooling over it for a few months and again came courtesy of Distant Replays. 

Now here's a few titles for you Braves connoisseurs to digest in the comfort of your in home study or library. I have both by the way... the den and the bathroom. Ahem but on to the Braves literature I highly recommend you devour at your earliest convenience.
