One fan has realized that the city Montreal, ON is NOT CORRECT. Montreal, QC is the correct way to have the Warped Tour stop. it seems that many Warped organizers in America doesn't believe the proper Canadian geography.

Park Park (formerly known as Molson Park) has been home to the Warped Tour for many years from 2002 to 2007. It was also the home when Live 8 was held back in July 2005.  Then on March 2007, the Warped Tour organizers has announce that they would not get a venue on time because of the construction. Subsequently two weeks after that announcement in April, Burl's Creek Park was initially announced. Burl's Creek Park is situated in a town called Oro which is North East of Barrie. This translates into a long commute for some people and it involves some transportation issues.

Then things went for the worse. In May, the Warped Tour organizers have decided that it's their lucky day and the Warped Tour will be held for sure at Park Place. The organizers have packed the Burl's Creek Park in for future consideration, but this has since been repealed by Burl's Creek Park organizers.

And so, the Warped Tour was held at Park Place and the fans are having a hardcore time. They didn't realize that this is the last time that the Warped Tour will be held at Park Place, leaving many fans wondering where will the tour be held for next year? That's where I come in. I've decided to post my own perspective on why I couldn't attend the Warped Tour at the first place.

Now let's go to 2008 and this year's Warped Tour WAS supposed to be held at Downsview Park (the same place where World Youth Day was held in 2002 and the Rolling Stones "SARSSTOCK" concert back in 2003). It was a perfect venue for the tour and it's really well accessible by public transit and all the major highways. However, people who live out of town has to find some ways on getting there in terms of ride-sharing and/or arranging a bus to take people to the tour.

But, shortly after the announcement, the Downsview Park proposal has been sacked. Now the tour will be held at a so-called place called "The Flats at Arrow Hall" - which in turn located on the same site as the International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. I've known the International Centre for many years, back in the days when the now-defunct Computer Fest (a computer show and sale) was held. The venue change had raised many questions by fans. At least the venue is well served by Public Transit. The Mississauga Transit route 7, the TTC 58 Malton (only if you intend to go West of Pearson Airport and only if you get off since this bus enters Mississauga) and GO's 34 Brampton bus route (via Dixon Rd.) serve the International Centre. In another twist, one of Brampton Transit's bus routes (I couldn't remember which one) serve the International Centre, but within walking distance.

I am a very strong public transit advocate and following advice to my good 'ol colleague Ed Drass (he is a 1994 graduate of York University), it seems that he never heard about the Warped Tour before, but he really believes in me on my intensive knowledge of transportation. ;)

In summary, at least many fans would have less to worry about and they would probably most likely to get the message because the Warped Tour is now going to be held at Arrow Hall. If you people didn't get the message by the time this was posted, YOU MUST BE AWARE OF THE CHANGE. It's that simple. :)

I solved the riddle! (Whew.)  The solution occurred while I was drinking coffee this morning at a McDonald's restaurant after having fiddled with numerous trials and erroneous attempts.  I guess insight played a role in my solving it since I had "found" the solution without realizing it the night before and had rejected it -- by which I mean that I had discovered the correct shape (thinking of this as a drawing exercise) but had the scale wrong (a common problem in drawing)  Thus a slight attitude adjustment was needed to capture the solution, requiring several hours of sleep as well as relaxing distractions plus a fresh morning perspective.  (No doubt the coffee was helpful, too.)

The work of solving the riddle presented many intriguing corollary questions.  While solving it feels nifty, I wonder who created the puzzle and what questions lead someone to an invention like this.  Discovering a puzzle requires a higher and brighter curiosity, I think, than solving a puzzle that is already well received.  While artists complain of the difficulties they face in the market place, imagine the plight of a riddle inventor!  Certainly one must have very pure motives to spend one's days in devising riddles and puzzles knowing that one's reception is so marginal. 

Other ideas passed through my mind as I toiled away at the puzzle.  I was aware of having seen its solution once, but recollection did not come very handily to my aid.  Even knowing that the lines had to meet somewhere outside the figure did not help much psychologically.  I still felt compelled to try various ways of connecting the edges of the box.  Finally, I realized that an element of trust was required.  Could Kitsune have tricked me?  Was there a solution?  And another kind of trust was needed, too.  I have counseled various persons about confidence in regard to their drawing.  Drawing in art, making "mistakes," can be discouraging and I have told people many times that you must go through the problem and not give up on it.  It is the passage through self-criticizing thoughts that leads ultimately to the promised land of art.  Here I was with a knotty problem -- a drawing problem, I decided to think of it in those terms -- and I could have given up, but I decided to follow my own advice and press on.

I am still not convinced that it is not more math than art, though I chose to use art as much as I could to solve it.  But unlike most the art I do, I did not know what the thing I was drawing looked like.  The reasoning here was exactly opposite what I typically do.  Usually I look at something and from a massive wall of perceptions, I am choosing certain ones and ignoring the rest.  Here I had very limited means, four lines, and with them I had to discover something I could not see, trying to bring it into visibility by following a set of instructions.

As I was leaving McDonald's backing my car out of a parking space, perhaps it was then I had what felt like a real "insight" moment.  As often happens in art, drawing something or looking at other artists' drawings will change the way we view the world.  It struck me as more than a little ironic the number of arrows that seemed to be everywhere around me after I had found the figure that solves the riddle.  A big arrow painted on the asphalt pointed the direction out of the parking lot and as soon as I noticed that big arrow, why it seemed that the world was littered with arrows!  They might have been like hints (unless of course there's more than one solution!).

Anyway, we went to eat the Peg-Leg Chicken Feast at Long John Silver before walking around, and then eating the Mix 'n' Match combo at Ben & Jerry's - sinful indulgence, I'm telling you - and we went around shopping before getting Ernie's new chain with the gorgeous cross pendant (which he absolutely adores).

And I saw this printed tee at Giant and I almost bought it home!

Coach Lewis is NYP's new Coach! We played the Mafia game, where I did awful as detective because Lester was such a silent killer, but I nabbed Jarett in the next round when he was the mafia! It was so fun, can! Aaron and Moses were the detectives for the last round and it was uber funny to me. Because it was Moses and Aaron who brought the people of Israel out of Egypt!

NYP is such an adorable CG, no other cell group can replace it in my heart!

For myself and the rest of the fans who kept fighting to have the tour held in Toronto-proper are starting to fight again for their rights to have the tour held in Toronto. At least International Centre is well served by public transit. Here are some transit routes that serve the International Centre:

GO Transit: The Route 34 Brampton local GO bus route serves the International Centre. However there is one condition - you have to make sure that the 34 goes via Dixon. Board that bus and get off at Derry Rd. and Airport Rd. (near the Malton GO station). If you board the 35, it will travel along Highway 27. It is important that you should look at the bus destination sign carefully to avoid any unwanted surprises. From Ajax to Malton (Airport & Derry), it will cost me $8.75 for a single ride or $17.50 for a day-pass. For more information please go to www.gotransit.com

TTC:The 58 Malton (from the Lawrence West subway station) serves the International Centre, however there is one catch - Additional fare is required west of the Airport as this bus enters in Mississauga. You have to pay the regular TTC fare along with the Mississauga Transit fare ($2.75 for an adult, senior, child or student fare for Mississauga Transit). If you are using a TTC Day Pass to board the 58 Malton and planning to head into Mississauga, you are out of luck. They are not valid. Period. At least that Day Pass can only be used up to Pearson Airport. Information can be founded at www.ttc.ca

Mississauga Transit: Mississauga Transit Route 7 serves the International Centre from the City Centre Transit Terminal in Mississauga (that's where the Square One shopping mall is situated). For more information on Mississauga Transit, please go to www.mississauga.ca/transit

Anyways, the venue change in my humble opinion is somewhat of a "flashpoint" on having the tour back in Barrie, which I greatly oppose. Park Place is closed down and turning into a shopping centre and Burl Creek Park is way too far in terms of distance. It's actually outside of Barrie city limits. As for transit links, it's completely non-existant. There was one time that Greyhound buses used to be held at the former Park Place, but it wasn't available at last year's tour without notice, leaving many people disgraced.

I will not rest until this is all sorted out!!!!

EDIT: The announcement is official. The Warped Tour will now be held at Arrow Hall. Tickets that were previously purchased for the Downsview Park date will be honoured or refunds are available at the point of purchase. Go to www.ticketmaster.ca to find out more information. While the majority of the events will take outdoors, some events will be indoors so people can get out of the heat to enjoy food and drinks.

Shefaly tagged me on May 27, 2008 with a meme that proved to be as elusive as my sanity! I finally found the time to finish the tag, that had been sitting patiently in my drafts folder all this while! :D

The meme is about branding - to capture the role played by different brands in our lives, on a day-to-day basis. For me, a typical day would involve somewhere close to a hundred different brands in various situations, starting with my user-friendly underwear to the ever-present pair of glasses. I've made a very amateurish collage of all the brands I use in my day-to-day affair and very optimistically, I've added my own grinning picture in it, hoping that one day in the far future, I'd be a brand! :D

Wordpress plays a major role in my day, followed closely by VIP underwears, Dettol Soaps and Hanes vests. I use Colgate toothpaste in the morning and listen to 91.9 Radio Indigo. I smoke ITC cigarettes and I own a Dell computer. I have a Titan watch and I wear Arrow shirts. I have a Moto phone with a BSNL connection. I sometimes steal my dad's Maruti car and at other times, I drive my own Bajaj bike. I use Bausch & Lomb glasses and wear Woodlands shoes. I handle Intuit and SQL Star as my clients and I drink Kingfisher beer. Oh, I almost forgot - my commode is a Parryware product and I write with a Reynolds pen! :D

Inuyasha remains to be one of my favorite anime shows I have ever seen, second best to Rurouni Kenshin. I constantly watch the encore run in Hero Channel even though I already watched it a long time ago. The anime is classified as ‘shounen’ – action-packed anime whose lead protagonist are usually boys, and often referred as ‘for boys’. Other shounen titles include Prince of Tennis, Death Note, Naruto, Bleach and many more.

The manga was written by Rumiko Takahashi, and I’m currently downloading the scanlated volumes from the internet (oh, I wish that I knew who were the scanlators to give proper credits, but unfortunately it was not indicated in the manga copy that I have). But to tell you honestly, I rather much prefer the anime adaptation than the manga itself. I don’t know how to explain it, but if you have seen the manga version, then you’ll surely know what I mean. I was even quite surprised that the manga won the 2002 Shogakukan Award for the Best Shounen title for that year. Uhmm, maybe the manga was really good (given its nice anime adaptation) and I might be too early to rate it, when in fact I only started to download a few titles and I am NOT even halfway through it! Can you believe that I only download eight chapters when the latest volume release was just this May 2008 which ended in chapter 554, and still ongoing? Tssk… it is a long-term project for me, to think that the manga is still released in Japan, though it is said to be nearing its final story arc.

The 167-episode anime adaptation was produced by Yomiuri TV and Sunrise (like Kekkaishi) and directed by Masashi Ikeda and Yasunao Aoki one after the other. Even though it was officially premiered in year 2000 (in Japan), but until now, I still haven’t seen a hell lot of a conclusion in the story. The anime adaptation ended in chapter 356 of the manga. So basically all I’m seeing all the years are the encore runs and replays all over again, but that’s okay because I’m not tired to watch them at all. But I just wish for new anime episodes, something to look forward to, or is it better that the anime is unended?

Although there were four movies produced, these movies didn’t serve as a conclusion to the story either, and their plots exist independently from the original story line. I recall the time when Animax Asia premiered these movies every weekend of the month, and I’ve seen them all. These four movies are (1) Inuyasha the Movie: Affections Touching Across Time; (2) Inuyasha the Movie: The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass; (3) Inuyasha the Movie: Swords of the Honorable Ruler; and (4) Inuyasha the Movie: Fire on the Mystic Island. My personal favorite is the third released movie, the Swords of the Honorable Ruler because Inuyasha’s brother Sesshoumaru made an appearance in there – and he’s got to be the hottest antagonist I’ve ever seen in the whole anime series (laughs)! Even though I also consider Naraku as a handsome guy, but he is still second-best to my Sesshoumaru.

The anime was broadcast in Japan and in other parts of Asia in its networks in East Asia, Yomiuri TV, and Nippon Television. The anime songs for the series are licensed by Avex Trax. I downloaded quite a few songs, but I hope I can complete the whole set. I only downloaded Change the World by V6, My Will by dream, I am by Hitomi, Deep Forest by Do As Infinity, Unending Dream by Nanase Aikawa, Dearest by Ayumi Hamasaki, Grip! by Every Little Thing, Every Heart by BoA, One Day, One Dream by Tackey and Tsubasa, Come by Namie Amuro, Angelus by Hitomi Shimatani, and Brand New World by V6. I still haven’t found a copy of Shinjitsu no Uta by Do as Infinity, and Itasura na Kiss by Day After Tomorrow, as well as all the movie theme songs.

The story centers about the high school girl Kagome Higurashii, who was transported into the feudal world of Inuyasha through an old well. There she accidentally broke the Shikon no Tama (Jewel of Four Souls) into pieces, which is utterly dangerous because any creature that would use these broken pieces in a bad way may be dangerous. Inuyasha, who was a half-demon also pursued to get all the pieces by himself, but he ended up pairing with Kagome in this quest since Kagome is the reincarnation of Kikyou, a former priestess who stood guard of the of the jewel and Inuyasha’s beloved. There, the two meets Miroku, a lascivious monk I say, who asks every girl he meets to be the mother of his future children, Sango, a demon exterminator who is in the quest for revenge against Naraku, and Shippo, a cute fox demon. The main villain is Naraku who is responsible for the misunderstanding between Inuyasha and Kagome, Miroku’s curse hand, and the death of Sango’s family. Sesshoumaru appeared once in a while to add conflict elements (and he’s so cute!) but I know deep inside that he’s a very compassionate guy. Ha-ha!

Yeah, you read that right. Researchers flew over this uncontacted tribe's rainforest village along the Brazilian-Peruvian border, and they were greeted with an assault from below -- tribesmen painted in bright red body paint launched arrows at the chopper, most certainly believing the helicopter was "a spirit or large bird".

You absolutely must read this fascinating account of the event.
