Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson had a gay old time at Disneyland on the Alice in Wonderland ride. Linday's sister Ali is in the rear, clearly thinking about Dina's next move to put her on a stripper pole in Vegas.

On this day, 124 years ago, France presented a colossal statue to the United States, commemorating the friendship between the two countries.

Statue of Liberty -- Britannica Online Encyclopedia

Actually, July 4 has been a busy day. It's the day Thoreau moved to Walden Point. The day Hawthorne was born. The day Vivekananda, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson died. The day Alice in Wonderland was first published. The day the Crab Nebula was noticed by the Chinese.

And the day the Republic of the Philippines was proclaimed and independent country.

Really. A busy day.

Brooke Waggoner uploaded new tracks from her debut full length 'Heal for the Honey' due out in August. I'm really digging her sound and really excited about this release. The two new tracks she has up are 'Young Friend' and 'Heal for the Honey'. 'Young Friend' reminds me of a female fronted version of Wilco, which I mean really - is that bad? 'Heal for the Honey' showcases her composition skills and song writing abilites while keeping things at a minimalist level. The track has a Bon Iver feel, but definitely Brooke's creation.

At last my gift, a video - just watch it.

(the video is edited from nothing but Alice In Wonderland audio/video.)

I'm glad I stopped to take photos of these lost pet notices on Rowena Avenue earlier in the week,

because as of this morning, they were all taken down. I hope this doesn't mean that they have given up on finding the turtle:

because that would be very sad.

I am choosing to believe that they found the turtle strolling around the neighborhood, and he was absolutely fine. Judging by his fancy hat, I think the turtle was just out shopping for a new outfit. Maybe an evening ensemble:

Very fancy! Glad you made it back home, turtle.

As celestial beings go, the film gods are the cruelest to the core. American Mcgee's Alice has been in the works for what feels like ages and now it seems the wait will get even longer.

If you've played or know anything about the videogame you probably have the sense that when this thing finally arrives, it will be a phenomenon. Think Alice In Wonderland meets The Nightmare Before Christmas. Sarah Michelle Gellar was attached to play the lead but now has bowed out. I can't think of anyone who would be better as a golden-locked youth running from the maligned supernatural.

As previously stated on IGN.com:

Game designer American McGee has posted an interview at his official blog that he conducted with Scott Faye, the producer of the long-gestating film version of the videogame American McGee's Alice.

As Cinematical points out, Faye revealed that Alice "is presently in 'turnaround' from Universal Studios. Jon and Erich Hoeber have written a very compelling feature film screenplay adaptation of the Alice game. Their screenplay will certainly serve as a jumping off point as we find a new studio home for the project. In terms of the realistic chances of seeing the Alice project being produced, all I can say is that I have invested (along with Julie Yorn and Karen Lauder, my producing partners on the project) a lot of time and effort in this project. We will get it made."

Faye continued, "I offer my eight year effort to get the best version of the Max Payne film produced as proof of my tenacity as a film producer. Every film produced is a challenge. The major film studios are producing fewer movies every year, so to have one of them be yours is a very special experience. On the positive side, the Alice in Wonderland mythology is wonderfully compelling, and is an indelible concept in the minds of studio executives and the movie going public."

The producer added that Sarah Michelle Gellar and director Marcus Nispel are no longer attached to the project.

Yesturday I went with my mom to a couple of places downtown.

The first place was fabulous! It was a small cafe that served breakfast all day, and has great tea, and has the best scones in New York. And it was called Alice's Tea Cup so there was an Alice in wonderland theme but it wasn't over the top, in was just the right amount on Alice, and just the right amount of cafe. All of the waiters wore wings and the tea was served in pretty tea cups of all sorts, ad right when you walk in there is a little shop that sells all sorts of little nick-nacks.

After that my mom and I went to 5th Avenue and basically walked along it and looked at all the designer shops and cute clothes and had a great time. We then stopped and got smoothies

Just for fun though, I invite you to take a peek and see a few shots I took with my brand new, right out of the box digital camera following the instruction booklet carefully!

I have been collecting teapots for years and I have a lot of mix and match old stuff. The sofa was purchased in Houston, Texas. An elderly lady from Galveston Island had covered it in a big roll of plastic for 40 years. I love antiques and I refinished many in the early years of my marriage.

The picture "End of the Dinner Party" has always been a favorite of mine! And of course, I love the Alice and Wonderland items. The teapot from England features the original art work. Hope you enjoyed these photos!

Have you fallen down the rabbit hole lately? Or played croquet with a deck of cards? Either way, you're so very much like Alice! Her wild imagination and constant ability to daydream got her in so much trouble - you've probably heard your mother or teacher lecture you about having your head in the clouds! Remember to stay grounded most of the time, however, because life can get away from you when you're always dreaming about someplace else!

The only rub was that the children's pastor was notable to locate a "Queen of Hearts" costume that was cost effective...so my wife, who isn't busy enough said that she would make one for the production. Now the lady that is playing the Queen has a slightly large build, and the closest thing my wife has to a mannequin that size is...well...Me.

So this is me modeling the underskirt. I can only imagine that there are a few more mock ups to go before I get my "Man" card back.

(Left) Charles Dodgson, "Alice Lydell," 1859; (Middle & Right) Julia Margaret Cameron, "Alice Liddell as Alethea," ca. 1872

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832-1898 ) was a prominent member of Victorian society, who possessed a ministry degree and a lectureship in mathematics at Oxford. He was described by many as a natural storyteller; from a young age, he wrote poetry and short stories. Long before he published Alice's Adventures in Wonderland as Lewis Carroll, however, Dodgson had taken up photography as a serious hobby. From 1856 to 1880, he created something on the order of 3000 studio and landscape photographs (although less than a third have survived). In his 20s, Dodgson developed a close and lasting relationship with members of the pre-Raphaelites, particularly Dante Gabriel Rossetti and William Holman Hunt.

Julia Margaret Cameron (1815-1879) was born in India, educated in France and married to a jurist 20 years her senior. They lived in India until 1848, when Charles Hay Cameron retired, at which time they moved to London. In 1863, when she was 40, Cameron's daughter gave her a camera, thus facilitating the birth of her career as a photographer, predominantly of portraits (eminent and ordinary Victorians) and allegorical tableaux. She was greatly influenced by the pre-Raphaelites—the romanticized themes of her allegories are plucked pretty directly from Rossetti et al.'s playbook. Many of their circle sat for her, including Dodgson. Cameron was more interested in evoking an emotional aura than in photographic accuracy, and this resulted in deliberately gauzy, out-of-focus images. Diaries record that Dodgson wasn't so keen on her technique. He thought she was sloppy.

Alice Liddell brought them together, at least briefly, artistically. Alice Liddell was one of eight children of Dr. Henry Liddell and the middle of three daughters. In 1856 Liddell assumed his position as the new Dean of Christ Church, Oxford, and it was soon after that the family became acquainted with Charles Dodgson. He began taking the older children on afternoon boating excursions, during which he'd relate fanciful stories to pass the time. Alice joined the outings slightly later. It was on one such outing with Alice and her sisters in 1862 that Dodgson related the tale which would later become his most famous book.

About this time he also began using Alice regularly as a portrait subject for his photographs. Dodgson made hundreds of works featuring young girls, a lot of them nude. There have been ample rumors and refutations that Dodgson was a pedophile and assertions that these portraits constitute pornography. From the sweet fetching expression Dodgson coaxed out of little Alice, you can certainly imagine how fond he was of her; you might be inclined to believe he was in love with her. (Was this the look that inspired the opening lines of poetry— "Child with a pure unclouded brow and dreaming eyes of wonder!"— in Through the Looking Glass?). That fetching look would make an older Alice the perfect pre-Raphaelite model for Cameron's later photographic allegory of Alethea, Greek goddess of truth. It's a beautiful, haunting picture.

Is there truth in the rumors? Go ask Alice.

Cherry blossom of the day :

"Cheshire Cat: If I were looking for a white rabbit, I'd ask the Mad Hatter.
Alice: The Mad Hatter? Oh, no no no...
Cheshire Cat: Or, you could ask the March Hare, in that direction.
Alice: Oh, thank you. I think I'll see him...
Cheshire Cat: Of course, he's mad, too.
Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
Cheshire Cat: Oh, you can't help that. Most everyone's mad here.
[Laughs maniacally; starts to disappear]
Cheshire Cat: You may have noticed that I'm not all there myself."

Because I was extremely out of it today everything I did was be lazy, watch series and old videos on you tube , now I started writing a short story about a girl who goes for a year abroad. It's kinda "mneah ... " but there are a lot of famous people that come out of nowhere, basically it's a kind of modern, twisted Alice in Wonderland with more Chanel couture and less cookies.

Don't worry, I won't contaminate you by posting it here *haha*.

Actress Amanda Seyfried has seemingly flown under the radar even though she's appeared in high profile projects such as Mean Girls, Big Love, Veronica Mars and the upcoming Mama Mia movie. In last month's Vogue Italia, she gave her best Alice In Wonderland for a seven page editorial. See the complete spread after the jump.

Essentially Lilly: A Guide to Colorful Entertaining-by Lilly Pulitzer and Jay Mulvaney
From the mom

Essentially Lilly: A Guide to Colorful Entertaining-by Lilly Pulitzer and Jay Mulvaney

From the moment that Jacqueline Kennedy dawned a Lilly Pulitzer dress in the mid 1960's, the entire fashion world was suddenly swept away with Lilly's sweet confectionery colors and bright splashy prints and Lilly instantly became an icon with the Bermuda and Bahama jet sets as well as seasoned Nantucketers. This book covers Lilly's history as a fashion designer, and how Lilly chooses to entertain her guests for all occasions, highlighting yummy recipes as well as fashion, film and style favorites of Lilly along the way. Not surprisingly, the book is filled with beautiful Lilly patterns in some way on nearly every page and is also illustrated with beautiful watercolor illustrations of Lilly fashionistas.

In Vogue: The Illustrated History of the World's Most Famous Fashion Magazine- Alberto Olivia (Author), Norberto Angeletti (Author), Anna Wintour (Contributor), Steven Klein (Contributor) and Grace Coddington (Contributor)

Another fashion Classic. Period. This book has so many amazing fashion images...my favorite one is the Alice and wonderland photo shoot by Annie Leibovitz. I blew my whole 75 dollar Christmas gift card at B&N on it and don't regret it for a second. Check out here at Style.com for the photo shoot. The captions are half of what makes this shoot great...it is my favorite so far that I have seen to date. (And I've seen a lot!)

An Elegant Spirit-Sean Hepburn Ferrer

<If you want to read a sample, I've enabled the "search inside" link so you can just click from here!

Beautiful pictures and images, but more importantly, Audrey Hepburn's son Sean tells his story of being raised by Hepburn in a beautiful and eloquent way that perfectly suits the actress's graceful demeanor and charm. He shows the world the true Audrey, who is even more beautiful than the person on camera. I definitely recommend it for both the avid fashionista and Hepburn fan!

Gap: Individuals-by the Gap

A very unusual, interesting and large collection of amazing black and white portraits of many celebrities who have endorsed the Gap over the years, as well as many individuals (such as Dizzy Gillespie) on the cover who are a true staple to American culture. This book is beautiful if you want to use it as a reference for drawing portraits. Also includes many more Annie Leibovitz photos, as well as a photo of the great Leibovitz herself! The book comes with a Gap soundtrack as well. I got it for 35 something on Amazon.com and it is normally 50 in other places, so it was a pretty great deal.
