The political situation is different from that of 1986 during Ershad regime when AL join the election with JP and BNP & Jamaat boycotted. Later, the movement against Ershad took momentum and all the parties boycotted the election and the regime fell.

Now, a care taker government came to power on the background of violent clashes among the political parties and their failure to hold a fair election. After 1/11, the corruptions of the political leaders are also exposed. The people are dissociated mentally and physically from the political parties.
The people want a healthy politics and political parties. People also want all the parties to participate in the election and a peaceful transition to democracy.

3) Sai che il trattato di Lisbona reintroduce la pena di morte?

- Con ambiguità il trattato non cita direttamente la pena di morte ma rimanda alla “carta dei diritti fondamentali” che nel suo articolo 2, prevede la pena di morte per reprimere “UNA SOMMOSSA O UN’INSURREZIONE”. Nessun esempio è citato per definire il concetto di “sommossa o insurrezione”. Ma se il popolo insorge… qualche buon motivo deve pur averlo… però si espone ad un assassinio legalizzato! Ti senti ancora tutelato nel tuo diritto di opporti a… qualcosa?

4) Sai che la politica di difesa del trattato di Lisbona, prevede oltre alle “missioni di pace” anche missioni “offensive”?

5) Sai che in caso di arresto potrai essere spostato in qualunque regione europea, proprio come avviene ora all’interno di qualunque nazione tra un carcere e l’altro?

6) Sai che il trattato garantisce l’uguaglianza (reciprocità) tra i membri, ma contemporaneamente garantisce l’ineguaglianza tra essi, consentendo alla Danimarca ed all’Inghilterra di continuare a stampare le loro monete nazionali?

7) Sai che l’Inghilterra rimane comunque proprietaria del 15,98% e la Danimarca del 1,72% della Banca Centrale Europea?

8) Sai che il contenuto del trattato di Lisbona coincide sostanzialmente con quello della “Costituzione Europea” che è stata bocciata da un referendum popolare in Olanda e Francia? Il “trattato di Lisbona” è stato bocciato dal referendum popolare in Irlanda. Perché queste bocciature? Magari perché questi popoli sono “antieuropeisti” o piuttosto perché sono più informati di noi? (I governi di Francia e Olanda hanno poi ratificato la “costituzione europea” quando questa ha cambiato nome in “trattato di Lisbona” in totale spregio al risultato referendario).

Secondo lo studio dell’Avv. Klaus Heeger, consulente per il gruppo democratico del parlamento europeo: la Costituzione garantiva alla U.E. 105 nuove aree di competenza, esattamente lo stesso numero di competenze che sono attribuite al Trattato di Lisbona; in quest’ultimo, rispetto alla costituzione rimangono fuori i simboli U.E.: bandiera inno e motto, ma entra il cambiamento climatico. Le rimanenti nuove 104 aree di competenza (aree cioè nelle quali la possibilità da parte degli stati di legiferare in modo difforme da quanto deciso in sede U.E. è illegale), sono identiche.

9) Sai che gli appartenenti alle polizia ed esercito nazionali dovranno prestare giuramento di fedeltà alla unione europea e chi si rifiuterà potrà essere licenziato?

10) Sai che con l’approvazione del trattato di Lisbona sarà illegale manifestare contro “l’unione europea”? Questo significa la fine della libertà di esistere per i partiti ed i movimenti ad ispirazione localistica che professino ideali indipendentistici.

11) Sai cosa affermò Jean Monnet, uno dei fondatori dell’attuale idea di Europa? “Le nazioni dell’Europa dovrebbero essere guidate verso il superstato senza che i loro popoli sappiano cosa sta accadendo”.

A point made by Bruce M in recent comments is that there needs to be consistency in the modelling methodology behind the suite of models for the risk components PD, EAD and LGD. One task that should bring this point to the fore is the validation of EL against AL.

The PD (and EAD) models can be easily validated because their predicted outcomes become certain after 12 months. LGD is hard because

• the observation period starts later: if an account defaults in the 11th month of the 12-month outcome window, observation of the actual LGD outcome (i.e. actual loss) can only begin at that point, which is already 11 months later than the sample cohort.
• the observation period may be long
• ideally one needs to wait for the longest AL to resolve, but one can't know in advance how long this will be

This means that ELs can only be reliably validated against ALs if the sample cohorts are quite far back in time - perhaps 2-3 years depending on product.

Nevertheless an adequate job can be done on more recent cohorts, considering that even on recent cohorts, at least some of the ALs will be known. I recommend a graphic approach showing EL vs AL for many quarterly cohorts simultaneously, with certain ALs in a bold colour, and as-yet-unresolved defaults shown on a possible - probable - worst case basis via suitable graphic clues (e.g. colours, hatching, error bars). Such a display will show a 'fan' effect, whereby older cohorts have a more certain EL-AL reconciliation, whereas for more recent cohorts the zone for AL fans out. (EL is a historic fact and is always known exactly)

Carrying out an EL-AL validation is a good way to review the consistency of model approaches and to detect those situations that fall between the cracks.

Sammy Hager was z'n opvolger, maar ook die samenwerking eindigde in ruzie.

Jarenlang bleef de band een 'groep in ruste'. Maar het bloed kroop toch weer waar het niet gaan kon, en dus werden alle strijdbijelen begraven. In 2008 gaat Van Halen (mét David Lee Roth!) weer op tournee, alsof er in de afgelopen twintig jaar niets is gebeurd. Ook dat kan alleen maar in Van Halen...

*While Giambi may have a great 'stache, we all know that there is really only one 'stache in NY, and that is the great ' stache of Keith Hernandez.

Jeg har selv benyttet mig af deres produkter og det uanset om jeg har haft brug for et par nye arbejdshandsker eller regntøj til børnene.

Med en baggrund indenfor byggebrancen, hvilken jeg nu har trukket mig tilbage fra, har jeg altid haft den indstilling at sikkerhed kommer i forreste række.

Det praktiserer jeg selvfølgelig stadig selvom jeg nu ikke længere bruger tid på at bygge andres huse men istedet mit eget.

Jeg vil vove at påstå at jeg endnu ikke har set arbejdshandsker i den kvalitet som at Al-haq enterprises leverer dem i.

Her for leden havde jeg en oplevelse da jeg var i Spar ikke så langt fra hvor jeg bor.

Der har de sådan en 20-30 kr. kasse med forskellige ubrugelige ting men til tider kan man nu godt finde noget spændende.

Det jeg bed mærke i var at jeg lige havde købt de her arbejdshandsker af al-haq og nu var jeg jo som selvstændig nu interesseret i at se om jeg havde gjort en god forretning ved at handle med al-haq.

Der lå nemlig et par arbejdshandsker i spars 20-30 kr kasse til en pris på 35kr og jeg skal love for at de ikke engang har været halvdelen af prisen værd.

Det er lidt noget lort for når man går ud for at købe arbejdshandsker skal de selvfølgelig holde så jeg forstår ikke hvorfor store kæder som spar, mairsk, og harald nyborg ikke vælger at benytte en leverandør som al-haq, hvor de kan få kvalitetsbevidste produkter og stadig sparer penge.

Jeg skal selvfølgelig ikke gøre mig klog på om de overhovedet har styr på at al-haq enterprises findes men jeg er tilgengæld stensikker på at der ikke går mange år før ALLE kender deres navn.

The BBC's Panorama programme has used US and Iraqi government sources to research how much some private contractors have profited from the conflict and rebuilding.

A US gagging order is preventing discussion of the allegations.

The order applies to 70 court cases against some of the top US companies.

War profiteering

While Presdient George W Bush remains in the White House, it is unlikely the gagging orders will be lifted.

To date, no major US contractor faces trial for fraud or mismanagement in Iraq.

Fuck impeachment processes, this is OUTRIGHT TREASON.  If Obama, Hillary, McCain, or ANY POLITICIAN had any guts, they would expose this and eradicate it from our government's legacy entirely.  It might have been implied by the proposal to account for every governmental dollar, but only Dennis Kucinich called for impeachment.

The Penelopiad retells the story of Homer's epic poem, Odyssey, from the point of view of Odysseus's wife Penelope.  Atwood's Penelope seeks to set the record straight.  While Homer characterizes Penelope as a loyal, faithful wife, Atwood's Penelope views her husband as a con, remarking "I knew he was tricky and a liar, I just didn't think he would play his tricks and try out his lies on me." 

The novella alternates between Penelope's narrative and that of the twelve hanged maids, whom are central to the story.  According to Atwood: 

I’ve chosen to give the telling of the story to Penelope and to the twelve hanged maids. The maids form a chanting and singing Chorus, which focuses on two questions that must pose themselves after any close reading of the Odyssey: What led to the hanging of the maids, and what was Penelope really up to? The story as told in the Odyssey doesn’t hold water: there are too many inconsistencies. I’ve always been haunted by the hanged maids and, in The Penelopiad, so is Penelope herself.

As we read, it may be fun to ask ourselves if there are characters in the book who remind us of any modern political figures?  Do we see elements of the Greek patriarchy depicted in the book present in America today?  How are gender and class roles portrayed in the story? 

I have not read the book, which was one of the reasons I selected it.  However, many Confluecians mentioned Atwood.  It is not necessary to have read the Homer's original epic.

The book, aside from notes and acknowledgements, is slightly less than 200 pages in paperback.  Shall we meet back here a week from today having read through Chapter xiii The Wily Sea Captain, A Sea Shanty, or about the halfway point?

¿Has pensando alguna vez en los límites, realidades y mitos del enamoramiento?; pues no sufras más, aquí están algunas verdades y mentiras en aspectos del amor, resueltas y planteadas por especialistas y psicólogos.

¿Cómo nos enamoramos?

El enamoramiento como tal no comienza con una atracción emocional (como muchos suelen pensar), explota con la atracción física, un contacto de miradas, coqueteos, cualquier oportunidad para observar a esa personita es suficiente para perder el piso, y cualquier pretexto sería suficiente para intercambiar palabras.

He aquí un dilema, muchas veces esa sensación se termina al primer contacto; así que acudí al rescate de una especialista, Tania Bistrain, psicóloga de la Universidad Tecnológica de México, y comenta que esta desilusión es consecuencia de que a veces “idealizamos” o en términos más digeribles, a veces solemos(incluyendo a este corresponsal), atribuirle a las persona cualidades o virtudes falsas, algo parecido a no reconocer que la persona es enojona, o excesivamente cariñosa, simplemente nos fijamos en las cualidades y no reconocemos los defectos que llegan a ser muy evidentes.

Un consejo de la psicóloga es conocer más a fondo a la persona, intercambiar puntos de vista vivencias y no creer en la premisa “el amor es ciego”, ya que hay que abrir mucho los ojos.

Si llegas a superar esta etapa de la idealización, no quiere decir precisamente que ya estás enamorado, ya que viene un proceso algo confuso y es el de confundir el enamoramiento y el amor.

Se dice que la etapa de enamoramiento dura alrededor de seis meses, se torna algo narcisista o mejor dicho nos enfocamos mucho en el aspecto de buscar ser queridos y/o amados, olvidando lo que siente o el cómo se encuentra la persona con la que hemos empezado una relación.

¿Cómo saber que estamos enamorados?; pues aquí algunos síntomas del mismo: Sentir ansiedad por ver a la persona (comerse las uñas, rayar tu cuaderno con su nombre, que el tiempo se pasa lento), flotar en las nubes o andar en tirando baba (por decirlo finamente), necesidad de estar hablando con la persona.

También fantasear, como por ejemplo, que vamos a vivir toda la vida con esa persona, que por lo general al cabo de una semana se termina la magia o seguir agrandando y adelantando ese proceso de intercambio de emociones, vivencias que a la medida del tiempo, con una buena comunicación (y no me refiero a contarse todo lo que haces en tu día) fundamentada en el respeto y la confianza en tu pareja (no sentir miedo que conozca nuevas personas, salga sol@, etc), comenta la Psicóloga Bistrain, el tiempo que pases con esa persona es fundamental para superar la etapa del enamoramiento y llegar a comprender o sentir una de las palabras más famosas y conocidas del mundo, amor.

Algunos aspectos de interés

- El pasar tiempo con la persona, compartir intereses y gustos no obliga a algún día sentir amor

- El enamoramiento es fundamental en cualquier relación, es la etapa primaria para sentir amor

- El estar enamorados no quiere decir que la otra persona debe de adivinar lo queremos, pensamos o sentimos (aquí entra la comunicación)

- Se piensa con la cabeza no con el corazón

- Si puedes, consigue el libro “Los limites del amor” de Walter Riso para entender un poco más este proceso de enamoramiento-amor

Holy what a huge Spanish fiesta! Luckily it was a Sunday and no one is playing tomorrow so we can recover from this big day in the kitchen. (Sorry the big cook off has meant we are a little behind in posting).

The sangria is a tried and true drink.

The bocadillas were great and we had these for lunch. Actually they would want to be good as the spanish ham cost $15 and so did the cheese! Worth it, as a once a year treat.

The tapas was also very good - we tried to make it a balanced meal with one meat, one vegetable and potatoes for the carb (my favourite).  This worked very well and there were plenty more tapas dishes I'd like to try. We bought the clay pots especially - I had wanted them when we were in Barcelona but couldn't justify carrying them back home. You need to cure them before use by soaking in water overnight. They made a really strange sizzling noise, which I'm guessing was the air escaping!?!

To top off the very indulgent day we finished on chocolate chestnut cake.  I had seen tins of chestnut puree in the delis and always wanted to give it a try. It's really thick, a bit like fine peanut butter without all the oil.... sort of. I actually used macadamias instead of the hazelnuts, although you could easily leave out the nuts altogether, as I think they are there to just add texture.

Fingers crossed Italy makes it through, because we haven't eaten it yet!

Ambar was a nice malty lager, nothing special however. The Sangria was a good mix of red wine, freshly squeezed orange and lemon juice, contreau, plymouth gin, sugar and orange and lemon slices. Kept in the fridge for the next day is even better!

5 stars - I did not think we could make it! Bocadillas was the best sandwich I have ever eaten. The ingredients work together well and the Iberian 'plack pig' jamon is why the 5th star come out. The lamb is not slow cooked but cooked on low temperature in the oven for 15 minutes. We did not use the absolute most lean cut of lamb and payed the price. Patatas bravas is my Spanish version of chips with mushy peas - they just work. I can't see us topping this effort.
