Is there a more bizarre advertising campaign running right now than the “Beef - It’s wha

Is there a more bizarre advertising campaign running right now than the "Beef - It's what's for dinner" landscape series? Has anyone noticed these ads? I've encountered them in Rolling Stone, The New Yorker and Food & Wine - full page, full color (if mealy reddish-grey qualifies as color) and full of confidence. That they make absolutely no sense is my distant North Star. It's gonna take a lot of tea to un-knot my brain from the taser-gun stun of how completely confounding and hilariously bad all the elements of these ads are.

The gist is that they've substituted hunks of cooked beef for land mass. There's the "prairie" of beef; the "beach" of beef; the "cliff", the "mountains", the "river canyon". The "land of beef"... Which begs the question: how is that appetizing? Who has ever looked at a rocky cliff - I mean really looked at it, looked at the details of it - and thought about dinner? Re-imagining that rocky cliff as a pallid, glistening precipice of over-sized beef, and yet keeping it in the context of a cliff in a landscape, welcomes these observations: land mass isn't edible, that's too much meat, the meat looks like it's under a magnifying glass, an actual "land of beef" would be disgusting in that it would be a surfeit of beef - and only beef - and while I guess you'd theoretically never be hungry, you'd never want to be hungry... you know? And then it gets weird...

In the landscapes of the ads, a person (the consumer) would be tiny compared to these hulking, immovable lumps of meat. How would you feel traversing the meat like that? Would you think about how it was cooked flesh? Does it age, does it rot, does it smell? Do cows graze somewhere in this "land of beef"? Does grass grow on it - or do they do the unthinkable and graze (it's unavoidable...) upon themselves? Isn't that the responsibility of anyone, from admen to artists, who toys with reality by taking things out of context: to think through the consequences? The consequences of a literal "land of beef", where rock and soil are replaced by meat, are stupefying - and, you'd think, disasterous to the very industry that these ads promote. (Unless you consider all the real estate...)

From a purely culinary perspective, there are some surefire ways of making meat appear, much less taste, appetizing. The char of the grill, the recognizable cuts, moist slices, accompaniments of vegetables, sauces, herbs. Every cookbook, every food magazine, every cooking show is rampant with the decorative flourishes that make mouths water. And yet here's the fucking "land of beef" ads doing everything wrong: unidentifiable cuts; sinuous, strange slices; drab shadows and suffuse backlighting that makes the meat look poor quality and cold; and no accompaniments, no other flavors, no other colors or textures unless you follow the "land of beef" logic even further and reconsider the rest of the physical space.

Which un-knots my mind to what was really my first critical thought when I saw one of these ads: if the canyon is beef, then what the fuck is that river? It would have to be edible, right? In the "Beef Canyon" ad, the riverbank has the opaque amber hue of flash-fried gristle, while the "water" appears to be the stream of grease my mom would strain off the ground chuck into a soup can. What else could it be? If it's supposed to evoke mashed potatoes and gravy then the ad agency's using a photoshop wizard from a school for the blind.

Maybe it's sabotage? Some hard-core vegan sect has finally infiltrated the heart of the industry - the advertising - to turn Americans off of beef for once and for all. It's easier to imagine those secret vegan meetings than it is to think of the ad-men around a conference table in some high-rise in New York. In the secret vegan meetings they say "We'll magnify the shit out of the meat and make it look revolting and make people who see the ad question why in the fuck they'd ever put something like that in to their bodies and the whole campaign will become a running joke of bad ideas and nausea." What are they saying in the high-rise? Who would even consider a campaign like this and not be worried?

And yet here we are. Big industry. Big money. Big ideas. I'm one of those occasional meat eaters who rationalizes the gorier elements of the process by thinking of man's survival, of all the sharpened spears buried in our past. But these "land of beef" ads hit like a caveman's club. Here - in dazed and wacky detail, is all the truth of modern beef: it's bland, dense and concern-colored; it's mass produced and pumped with hormones; it's greasy, gristly, disjointed, irregular; and it's everywhere.

I'm no ad-man, but if I had to think up a proper slogan, it'd have to be: "Beware!"

All I can say is, it's about time!

For all of us TurboCharged tC's, this is really a must have. Having a turbo setup dramtically increases the heat under the hood, which decreases performance and shortens the life of the engine itself. The stock radiator simply wasn't intended to help dissipate so much heat. What's worse is that we add a front mount intercooler which makes the stock radiator work even less efficient because you're blocking some of the air flow!

Here's where racing radiators come in to play. They're purpose built for those who have added performance and heat. The Mishimoto racing radiators are made of aluminum, which on average provides 25-30% better heat dissapation. Not only that, the Aircraft grade aluminum is also lighter weight, and less weight in the front of the tC is right where you want it since we're very front heavy. Equal weight distribution is one of the keys to great handling!

Best of all, this is a DIRECT BOLT ON. No modification needed. It still uses the stock fan shrouds and everything. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose! This is also a great mod if you have an N/A or Supercharged setup too. You can purchase it today from Prestige Racing for only $240 + shipping! Remember, whenever you buy something from them, don't forget to mention us in the "comments about your order" section. Each time you do, Prestige Racing donates a small portion to the Scion Underground Podcast! If you have any questions, feel free to send an email to Sales@PrestigeRacing.net.

For the past couple of Pixar movies I've been obsessed with some of the artwork. For The Incredibles, I loved the comic book style promo posters, for Ratatouille there were posters that resembled French Café and now for Wall-e, there are posters that reflect the old 1970's ride posters Disneyland produced.

After some thorough research, I found out the artist is Eric Tan. According to his blog, he's a graphic designer/doodler who grew up in San Diego. (And that's about it) All I really know is I love what's he's done and his artwork now graces my computer screen.

P.S. He's also done some other work and I thought you should check it out. Also, if you want an actual poster, you can go to Acme Archives to purchase one. The problem is they are a bit pricey.

Craigslist is a relatively new network of websites that deal with a number of topics from buying and

Craigslist is a relatively new network of websites that deal with a number of topics from buying and selling items to employment and even personal ads. It is one of the new steps in the natural evolution of the web according to many online analysts and while it started off from humble beginnings as a single Craigslist San Francisco website it has now built up into a large network of websites spanning not only all the major cities in the United States (i.e. there is a craigslist Dallas, craigslist New York etc.) but also many of the major cities around the world like craigslist Toronto, craigslist Tokyo and craigslist Melbourne.

One of the things that has made this website so popular is the fact that all of the services were free and it really served to provide a way for two people in same community to liaise with each other. Other online websites like ebay really do most of the work themselves and the two people doing the actual transaction don't get a lot of opportunity to speak directly with the other person. Craigslist websites on the other hand are all about direct communication; one person posts something and another person replies to it, it's just that simple.

So what exactly can a person do with craigslist? Well, let us take a quick look at a few of the features offered by all craigslist websites:

Employment Ads: Companies have the ability to post ads for free on craigslist regarding opportunities available for jobs with them and potential employees have the ability to search those jobs. Many people have found great employment opportunities through craigslist and for this reason many craigslist network websites have really started to have regular job opportunities posted on them.

Buy/Sell Ads: These are like normal classified ads except the difference is that you don't have to pay for them. Posting ads on most craigslist websites is free and because of that many people are now using craigslist to advertise things that they have for sale. If you are looking for a used bike or an old video game then it is definitely worth giving craigslist a try because you just might be able to surprise yourself with what you can find on craigslist.

Personal Ads: Another great aspect of craigslist is the fact that you can search personal ads in your own city right away. Every single online dating website will force you to go through a search field to narrow down the results; with craigslist that is already done for you.

These are just a few of the great things about craigslist. Additionally it is worth mentioning again that most craigslist websites offer all their services for free. This is likely to make the craigslist website in your city very popular amongst the locals and therefore a good starting point for any activity you want to carry out. Whether you are looking to buy something or in the mood to sell, craigslist can help you with both.

"How to make money with AdSense" is one of the most popular topics in Internet marketing forums and the subject of many books and special reports. Its popularity isn't surprising given the extensive coverage of AdSense in mainstream newspapers and magazines as well as the program's importance in driving Google's every-growing advertising revenues. Website and blog owners can't help but perceive Google AdSense to be an easy way to make money online.

While it's true that adding AdSense a web page is trivial — all you do is paste some JavaScript code that Google generates for you — learning how to make money with AdSense — especially how to really make money — is decidedly non-trivial. Like anything, it takes time and effort. There are no overnight successes with AdSense.

The key is to know what to work on. Four factors come into play:

Traffic. By far the most important factor is how much traffic you can drive to your pages. After all, you only make money when visitors click (or in some cases view) the ads shown on your pages. If no one's visiting your site, you won't make any money. If you want to make more money with AdSense, you need more traffic. (That traffic should be targeted, too, otherwise smart pricing will kick in and reduce your earnings.)

Niche. The niche you're targeting also has a huge effect on your AdSense earnings. You need to target niches where advertisers are actively seeking customers: if there are no advertisers, you won't make any money. The simplest test you can do is to search Google for related keywords and see how many ads appear in the "Sponsored Links" section on the right-hand side of the results page. If there are few or no ads, that's a sign that the market's not a big one and probably isn't a great choice for monetization via AdSense. (But you may be able to monetize it in other ways.)

Content. AdSense is all about content. It's not about search results. It's not about random collections of scraped data. There's a reason why AdSense users are called publishers: it's because they publish content. You need great content on your pages, written for humans and not search engines. Content is what's going to keep visitors on your site, looking for the information they need. The longer they stay, the more chance they'll click an ad.

Optimization. Many AdSense publishers spend too much time trying to optimize their pages when they should be spending their time on getting more traffic and writing more content. Luckily, many AdSense optimization techniques do double duty as search engine optimization (SEO) techniques. Concentrate on the basics, like:

Blending ads by removing borders and matching colors.

Positioning the ads in the "hot spots" of a page.

Choosing the right ad formats.

Tracking performance with channels.

These and a few other techniques can make a dramatic difference in your earnings — but only if you have enough traffic.

Note that even a poorly-optimized AdSense site can make its publisher a lot of money if draws a lot of traffic with quality content in a competitive niche. Don't place too much emphasis on AdSense optimization.

There are no secrets to earning money with AdSense. You just need to learn the right things. Take the time and effort to learn how to:

Drive traffic to your pages.

Find and exploit profitable niches.

Create valuable content.

Optimize pages for AdSense and SEO.

Master these skills and you'll know exactly how to make money with AdSense!

If you are looking to drive traffic to your website, Google AdWords is a cost-effective method which

If you are looking to drive traffic to your website, Google AdWords is a cost-effective method which delivers measurable results to marketers. Visit the AdWords website to learn more, or read further to get a better understanding of the concept.

How does Google AdWords Work?

Create your Ads - using their selection tool, you pick the relevant keywords and phrases for your business and product lines. There is a keyword engine that will help you build a list of related keywords to your initial selections.

Set your Budget - you are in full control of ad spending as there no minimum-spending requirements. Google provides keyword traffic and cost estimates, and you have the ability to set a maximum cost-per-click (CPC). This cost structure ensures you are only paying for measurable results.

Your Ads Appear - when your target audience searches Google using one of your keywords, your ad may appear beside or on top of the search results. This way, you are directly targeting prospects that are already interested.

Gain Web Leads - when a prospect clicks on your ad, they are immediately brought to your website to learn more about your offerings.

Measure Results - Google AdWords is integrated with Google Analytics. If your company is not appearing in the top 20 hits, there is a chance you are losing leads to competitors.

Learn More - visit Google's AdWords website to learn more about their programs and determine if this strategy is right for your organization.

Analyze Keyword Campaign ROI - use our Online Advertising ROI Calculator to determine how much to pay for keywords.

...and it looks freakin' awesome.

We're Justin and Dave, the two guys behind Bacon Salt™ and this is our improbable bacon-flavored story. Who are we? We’re just two regular guys who love grilling and football on Sunday afternoons, eating until we can’t get off the couch and of course, the taste of great bacon. And it’s our dream to make everything taste like bacon.

Up until several months ago, we worked together in a little technology company. While on a business trip together, we had the chance to sit down for dinner and eventually, the conversation turned to our mutual love of bacon. It was then that Justin told Dave and another coworker named Kara about his idea for Bacon Salt™. Kara, who is a vegetarian, loved the idea. Dave, a card-carrying carnivore and Midwesterner, loved it even more. Even the waiter at the fancy restaurant loved it.

And from that point forward, a partnership was struck to turn this bacon-flavored dream into a reality. In early 2007, we and a few of our close friends tasted the first three flavors of Bacon Salt, Original Smokey, Hickory and (ick) Maple on Porterhouse steaks, mashed potatoes, eggs, corn and tomato soup - literally everything Dave could find to eat in his house. One enthusiastic person even tried bacon-flavored ice cream, which we don’t really advise doing, but to each his own. With the one exception of Maple (RIP), everything was absolutely delicious - we were all just licking our plates.

It's more likely than you think.

I was greeted to this ad just the other day. It was strategically placed on a wall in the lowest level of the parking structure at work. While not as strange as, oh I don't know, a Viagra ad above a urinal, this definitely got my attention only because it was in a place I never expected it to be.

With Volkswagen's introduction of the Tiguan, they hope to snag a piece of the small SUV market which already seems to be over saturated with RAV4s, CR-Vs, Escapes, VUEs, Rogues, Nitros, Elements, Santa Fes, Sportages...hell, might as well bring the Daihatsu Rocky.

But it's also nice to see that VW has also stayed true to their stupid car name roots, which already includes the Thing, Eos, Scirocco, Corrado, Vanagon, Touareg, Phaeton, Routan...

Goofy names aside, I shamefully admit to learning how to drive a stick in an old VW van that smelled like pot and rotting seats (but then again, which one didn't?). And if given the opportunity to own an extra ride, I'd probably want one of these.

C'mon, California Lottery...
