Im about as addicted to UI's as I am to creating new toons. Each time I've tried out a new UI or Addon it seems to have taught me something new about the game. Not everyone enjoys them, I know. My husband for example would never stray from the Blizzard UI except to carry only the mods that our guild requires to raid. Even then he's never happy about having to keep and update extra addons. He's pretty set using his keybinds to heal and that works for him.

Me on the other hand? I like the flashy, the organized and the having all of my spells out so I can click them setup. This leads me to admit that yes, I am a clicker. I do occasionally use keybinds and macros, and they too work well. There's just something about a mouse though. I prefer it, and I hope to stick to it. Even for my rogue, which in my opinion is button mashing at its best, I still use the mouse for.

For the most part though my UI has changed many times over the years, the list of core addons I use have not. Some of them (but not all) include:

I've seen entire compliations for UIs that guilds create and mandate for thier players to use. This is an intresting idea, and would be a good one except in my experiences in leading a guild I've learned that not everyone is computer literate. I also hugely support the use of Voice Over IP programs. While not mods, they are certainly helpful to any guild hoping to progress in the virtual world. I've played breifly with the Blizzard VOIP program, but was not impressed by it at all. I wish I could develop a UI for the masses, but I lack the kind of knowledge it takes. In setting up these UI's and trying them out though I've learned a lot about each individual addon.

So basically in my opinion I'm PRO UI. I hope that anyone who reads this blog, and sees this UI will maybe give them a shot. While my UI changes constantly, my current one is easy to use as it pretty much sets itself up. I received no errors when I installed it and the only ones I added to it were Pallypower, Decursive, and Clique, You can find the download for this UI here.

 

  

  

  

 

I've just stumbled upon this cool new feature from the guys at cooliris. It's a great new application add-on for my current webbrowser (it works with many other supported browsers).

First of all, I got really stunned by the 3D experience in using the PicLens. You are brought into a 3D interface where a stack of images and videos are displayed together for viewing. Scrolling in the PicLens is a great experience. When scrolling, the stack moves sideways like this picture below:

when you stop scrolling, it slows down and comes align with the screen:

The best thing I enjoy using Piclens is that it supports YoutTube Browsing, while the IP administrator in my office proudly says to them selves "ho..ho..ho.. NO MORE YOUTUBE BROWSING FOR YOU GUYS AT OFFICE HOURS!! HAR!HAR!HARGH!.." Using Piclens enables you to bypass the protected keyword by your office admins for accessing www.youtube.com website. Maybe because PicLens does not enter directly to the youtube.com site, so we can say that we all outsmarted the enoying admins and "Let The Videos Roll!!"

Don't hesitate, and just try it for yourself!

1. Padme, no tank => wipe.
2. Me myself and I, if I'm dead I can't heal others. (If the fight is almost over and other party members are dying to, I will sacrifice myself and use my spirit form)

Read it Later - Para todos los que nos dejamos llevar por las corrientes de internet esta extensión es vital, nos permite la opcion de guardar con un solo click cualquier enlace/pagina/video/etc y cuando tengamos tiempo, con otro click podremos leerlo. Sencillamente indispensable.

Video DownloadHelper - Te permite descargar cualquier video de cualquier web, tan sencillo y tan impresionante como eso.

StumbleUpon Toolbar - La herramienta perfecta cuando no tienes absolutamente nada que hacer, StumbleUpon es un servicio mediante el cual, y tras rellenar un perfil con nuestras preferencias (mascotas, videojuegos, blablaba) se nos añade un botoncito con el que, al pulsarlo, nos lleva a una web cuya tematica tiene relaccion con nuestro perfil y así hasta el infinito

Meebo - Proporciona una barra lateral con la lista de todos los amigos y contactos que tengas en varios clientes de mensajeria instantanea como MSN, AIM, etc.

Google Toolbar - No podia faltar en esta lista. Gmail, buscador y Googledocs entre otras muchas cosas al alcance de un sólo click.

GSpace - Gmail ofrece casi 7 GB de almacenamiento gratuito. Con Gspace, puedes convertir parte o todo ese espacio en una cuenta de almacenamiento de archivos (no solo mails) accesible desde cualquier lugar.

All in One Sidebar - Esta es una extensión tremendamente práctica ya que te situa en un lateral del navegador todos los paneles de Firefox. Marcadores, historial, descargas, complementos y todo lo que quieras añadir a un panel que se oculta automaticamente y que ahorra un espacio considerable.

Its irritating at times not seeing the color. So this little pluggin is the solution to the copy the color problem.

A really small add-on which is really useful for designers. Just click on the colorize eyedropper icon and hover it over on any part of the page. Its going to you its RGB and that's about it save it and chill out!

One thing I read on Digg was that you can cheat by changing something in the about:config page. You could try that but they say it's a big risk so... don't do it.

Firefox 3 is much improved over Firefox 2. Lots of nice new features, great integration with your OS (no need to "skin" to match) and best of all it's much faster.

I'm pleased. Good work, Mozilla.

Quem fez a migração da versão como eu, já deve ter percebido o quão fantástico está o Firefox 3, especialmente na brutal velocidade de abertura de páginas, administração de downloads e memória e as novas funções incorporadas e só falta mesmo a compatibilidade total dos complementos para ele ser considerado perfeito. Bem, se não perfeito, ao menos infinitamente superior aos demais navegadores, especialmente se comparado ao Internet Explorer.

Eu segui as instruções abaixo e na minha máquina, com Windows XP SP3 e Firefox 3 PT-BR, funcionou de primeira, sem qualquer dor de cabeça.

Após seguir os 7 passos abaixo, acessei a AMO, que é a nova página de downloads de complementos da Mozilla e consegui instalar as seguintes extensões, as quais não havia conseguido instalar antes, pois os botões das extensões estavam todos em marca d'água:

Considere que apesar de ter dado certo para mim, poderá haver algum tipo de problema em sua máquina e portanto, aplique as dicas por conta e risco seus. Se você fizer com atenção não deverá ter problema.

1. Abra uma nova janela do Firefox 3 e digite no campo de endereço: about:config
Isso fará com que surja o alerta: Isso poderá anular a sua garantia.

2. Clique no botão Serei cuidadoso, eu prometo.

3. Clique no botão direito do mouse, escolha Nova opção e clique em Boolean.

4. Preencha o campo com o nome extensions.checkCompatibility e selecione o valor False

5. Novamente clique no botão direito do mouse, escolha Nova opção e clique em Boolean

6. Agora preencha com o nome extensions.checkUpdateSecurity e selecione o valor False

7. Reinicie o Firefox.

Ao retornar ao Firefox e acessar a página de Addons, você perceberá que uma grande parte dos complementos estará com o botão de compatibilidade ativado, ou seja, apto para ser instalado no browser.

Finally something which says like Microsoft's every single product the new simple and clean version with bla bla usability and crashes at the end. The key features which you feel that really make a difference in the first run are.

Beta vs 3.0 :
When testing the beta version I could not feel much of a difference between the two, the only place where I did feel the difference was when my old addons which now I think they are like a part of my Firefox didn't really work.

Speed - Actually pretty fast:
The new version takes only 60MB in your RAM and is actually quite light you keep on opening the page and it doesn't really matter like it used to at times in the previous versions.

Lots of speed issues have been resolved in this version making browsing and switching between windows really fast. Besides browsing the product itself seems to be working more smoothly then ever. When the Firefox team said they removed 300 speed bugs they actually meant it!

Navigation - Smooth as hmm now let me think of a good metaphor
The new Firefox comes equipped with an improved address bar. When you start writing you don't only see the link in the auto complete but also the icon and the Title of the page, which makes it a lot easier to navigate. Still equipped with the old Google search (never gets old).

The auto complete in the web forms is a also a lot better, or rather lot cleaner than the previous versions and it does not take as much time as earlier.

Resume Download - Yes Finally its here!!!!
The resume option in the download is finally here, now you don't have to say oh crap after you click yes when Firefox asks you want to close Firefox with two downloads in progress. The downloader is a lot better and smooth than the previous on and well the resume option is a blessing.

Save Your Pages - no Boss Trouble
I so hated the fact when you have like 20 tabs and you have to close the window cause the Boss is blabbing you lost like everything. But now before exiting you can actually save the space :D

Addons - Easy maintenance
Unfortunately you still need to restart Firefox every time you add a new add on. But now you don't have to push the button I hated the most, get more extensions. Now you can browse for addons simply in the addons pop-up box and download the one's you like directly.

Conclusion - hmmm
I think even Firefox 2.0 was a lot better than IE but this beat'em all by far.

An Addons habe ich beispielsweise die sehr praktischen "PartyCastingBars" aus der Cosmos Compilation integriert. Natürlich kommt auch MultiboxerV2 0.5 von Dual-Boxing.com zum Einsatz. Die restlichen Addons sind jetzt nicht unbedingt typisch für Multiboxer. Generell versuche ich bei der Gestaltung des Interfaces nah wie möglich am Orginal zu bleiben. Erstens um Ressourcen zu schonen und zweitens um mir eine gewisse Unabhängigkeit zu sichern.
