Four years ago, I went to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and was introduced to the acting tour de force that is David Thewlis. Sure, the only other things I've seen him in
are Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Vice Magazine. Apparently, he's been in lots of other things, but those are the only things I really know about. I think that says a lot about me, actually, but still doesn't clear up at all where I fall on the hipster-pedophile scale. At the time PoA came out, I didn't really read websites about celebrity gossip or Harry Potter movies. So imagine my surprise when I, along with the Trio, discover that the creepy guy passed out in their compartment on the Hogwarts Express is actually a teacher.

I mean, would you hire this guy to teach your kids? Especially defense against anything. He might teach the kids how to fend off grindyloos and how to banish a boggart, but you know that there's absolutely no information on bad touches. And doesn't this look remarkably similar to Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, and Paris Hilton's mugshots? I think it's the gray background and that sour look on his face, like he just met Chris Hansen. And lest you think that this was somehow Thewlis getting into character, after the jump are the pictures accompanying the Vice interview.

In this one, he's spying on a junior peewee cheerleading squad. Actually, this picture really reminds me of this time when I was in college. I was walking on what we called the "Lakeshore Path" (it was a path along the lake) from my dorm to campus, when I heard what I thought was a wounded animal. In reality, it was a man wearing only a pair of Timberlands and some tighty whities on his head. I imagine that this is what that guy looked like without underwear on his head.

So, in closing, you're probably wondering: Is this man a hipster, or a pedophile? There's plenty of evidence leading both ways. That mustache. That shirt. The Harry Potter movies. Vice likes him. It's a tough decision, but until little Colin Creevey or Rose Zeller makes a formal complaint, I'm going to have to say hipster. I am desperately hoping, though, that the rumors I heard about Thewlis becoming the next Doctor Who prove to be false. As far as I know, there's no minimum age for companions on the TARDIS.

Kaze no garden. O el jardín del viento (creo). La historia parece interesante a priori. Un anestesista en el mejor momento de su carrera pero con una vida familiar desastrosa, presencia en poco tiempo cómo su mujer se suicida por su infidelidad (la de él) y cómo le apartan de sus dos hijos. Siete años después, víctima de un cáncer terminal, vuelve a su ciudad natal en Hokkaido para enfrentarse a sus hijos y a sus últimos momentos en la vida. Del actor principal no sé absolutamente nada, pero una de las hijas es Kuroki Meisa (o la monja de One Pound) y el niño es Kamiki Ryunosuke, en mi opinión el niño-actor con más talento de todos.

Heath Ledger was arguably the most successful actor Perth ever produced.

He had the lot – beauty, and amazing voice, wonderful stillness, great instincts, powerful physicality and that passionate dedication to his craft that not only brought him great rewards but probably contributed, in the end, to his tragic death.

Surely he had only just scratched the surface of his potential and I am sad that we won’t benefit from the performances he would have given as he matured.

The naming of Perth’s new theatre after Heath has drawn criticism for three main reasons: the “he didn’t act in theatre” objection, the less interesting and highly predictable “he’s a bad role model ‘cos he took some drugs and drugs are bad” moan and the non sequitur "Carpenter's doing it for political reasons, therefore it’s not a good choice.”

First, these days “film actors” and “stage actors” are not two distinct groups of people. Sure, theatre and film involve the application of different specific skills but I have never met a stage actor of my generation who is not also a film and TV actor or does not aspire to be one.

Perth has produced many wonderful performers and because of the sparse film and TV opportunities in WA, most of those who stay are predominately stage actors. But I would be surprised if any of them would pass up a role in a film for reasons of loyalty to theatre.

...Judge away ye righteous folk but remember that thing about the mote(?) of dust and the log in the eye of the whatsit… you know, from that book you all love so much.

As for Alan Carpenter’s motives – who cares? How he arrived at his decision does not have a bearing on the validity of the choice.

It is wonderful that a new theatre is finally being built and I reckon it is just fine that it has been named after an extremely talented, hard-working, much-loved and greatly missed Perth born and bred actor.

Jesse McCartney (born April 9, 1987) is an American pop/R&B singer-songwriter and actor.

McCartney initially came to fame in the early 2000s as the youngest member of the boy band Dream Street. He subsequently branched out into a solo career, having appeared on the television series Summerland.

Early life and acting career

McCartney was born in Ardsley, New York,^[1] to Scott and Ginger McCartney. McCartney began performing in local community musicals at the age of seven, before joining the national tour of The King and I at age ten along with Phil of the Future star Ricky Ullman. McCartney moved to Los Angeles to become an actor and singer when he was 11. He later appeared with The Who's Roger Daltrey in A Christmas Carol at Madison Square Garden. From 1998–2001, McCartney played Adam Chandler, Jr. on the ABC soap opera All My Children, a role for which he earned a Daytime Emmy nomination. He also later starred in the short-lived series Summerland, which aired on the now-defunct WB network for two seasons.

In 1999, McCartney joined the American pop boy band Dream Street, and was a member until 2002. Jesse McCartney has described the experience as a good "stepping stone" for his solo career.^[2] The group earned a gold record with their debut CD, and broke up while touring with Aaron Carter. He also seems to have similar ideas as Aaron. Jesse poses the same during his Beautiful Soul cover, it is the same as Carter's Another Earthquake CD. At fifteen, he began work on a solo career with a local band, featuring musicians Dillon Kondor (guitar), Peter Chema (bass), Katie Spencer (keyboards), Alex Russeku (drums), Karina LaGravinese (background vocals), Sharisse Francisco (background vocals), and under the management of Ginger McCartney and Sherry Goffin Kondor, who co-produced his first album, Beautiful Soul.

McCartney released his first solo EP in July 2003. The album featured three songs: "Beautiful Soul", "She's No You" and "Why Don't You Kiss Her". In 2004, he performed a duet with Anne Hathaway, "Don't Go Breaking My Heart", which is featured on the Ella Enchanted soundtrack.

His first full-length solo album, Beautiful Soul, which was two years in the making, was released on September 28, 2004. The album featured four songs co-written by McCartney: "That Was Then," "Get Your Shine On", "What's Your Name", and "She's No You", as well as songs written by Desmond Child and Chris Braide. The title song reached #2 on AOL Music and the "Beautiful Soul" music video performed well on MTV's Total Request Live, having been voted into the top 10 fifty times, and peaked at #4. The album, having sold over 5 million records, has achieved platinum status.

His first solo tour, also named Beautiful Soul (opened by singer/songwriter and actress Brie Larson), began on May 2, 2005 at the Crest Theatre in Sacramento, California. The United States portion of the tour spanned 56 stops, ending on September 10, 2005 at the Madera District County Fair in Madera, California. Jesse McCartney has also performed at many amusement parks, including Six Flags and Canada's Wonderland, and has performed "Beautiful Soul" while making guest appearances on several late night talk shows, including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

This tour featured a new band, comprising Dory Lobel (guitar), Zane Carney (guitar), Andre De Santanna (bass), Mitchell Yoshida (keyboards), Karen Teperberg (drums), Margeaux "JoJo" Fernandez (background vocals) and Julie Dickens (background vocals). In the fall of 2005, Jesse McCartney toured Australia, and opened for the Backstreet Boys in Europe, the summer of 2005. His July 9 appearance at Paramount's Great America in Santa Clara, California was recorded as a live CD and released in November 2005; this was his first concert DVD.^[3]

His second album, titled Right Where You Want Me, was released by Hollywood Records on September 19, 2006. The first single and song from the album, is called "Right Where You Want Me", began receiving radio play on July 11, 2006 and was written by Jesse McCartney, Adam Watts and Andy Dodd; McCartney, who co-wrote all of the songs on the new album, has said that he believes the single takes him in a "new direction musically"^{[cite this quote]}. The second single was "Just So You Know". The song "Invincible" was written by McCartney in memory of one of his high school friends who had died in 2003 due to drinking and driving. Although as stated by his management that he will not be launching a new tour because of lack of support from his record company, McCartney has done various shows in Italy and also in the United States.

[edit] Departure (2008–present)

After a year and a half, it was confirmed by his management that McCartney has finished recording for his third album, Departure. The first single is called "Leavin'". The album was released on May 20, 2008 in the United States and Canada. Unlike his debut and sophomore albums, Departure is an R&B album.

McCartney recently did a collaboration with the reggae/hip-hop band Cipes and The People. During this period he co-wrote with OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder the #1 hit single "Bleeding Love" for British singer Leona Lewis, the biggest selling UK single of 2007, and a #1 hit in more than 28 countries, including the U.S.. In 2008, McCartney wrote the song "Don't Leave", for the American teen sensation and High School Musical alumn, Pop/R&B singer Vanessa Hudgens.

In 2004, Jesse McCartney participated in "Come Together Now",^[4] a charity single to benefit the victims of the 2004 Asian Tsunami and the 2005 Hurricane Katrina. In 2005, McCartney signed on as an official supporter of Little Kids Rock,^[5] a nonprofit organization that provides free musical instruments and free lessons to children in public schools throughout the U.S.A. He sits on its board of directors as an honorary member. He has donated proceeds of his 2005 tour for disaster relief, recorded radio spots promoting the "Kids For A Drug-Free America" campaign, is a spokesperson for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and is involved in the charity SPACE, which was co-founded by a childhood friend of his mother's. McCartney performed at the Hope Rocks concert in 2005 to benefit City of Hope Cancer Center.

The one act dramedy musical play that chronicles the coming out story of Mormon returned missionary, ex-temple married, father, former male escort, former drug user, and excommunicated LDS Church member Steven Fales will now grace the stage in London. 

Critically acclaimed, the play was awarded the  Overall Excellence Award at the 2004 New York International Fringe Festival. It received the 2008 Oscar Wilde Award Nomination for Outstanding New Writing in the Theatre at the Dublin International Gay Theatre Festival and a New York Outer Critics Circle Award Nomination for Outstanding Solo Performance.

Fales says ‘I wrote the play so that my children would some day be able to understand their gay father” and he adds “I kept thinking that if I were to die, there wasn’t anyone I could fully trust to tell my kids who their ‘wicked’ gay dad really was and how much I loved them.”
(Fales’ former mother-in-law is celebrated Mormon poet Carol Lynn Pearson whose autobiography Good-bye, I Love You (Random House 1986), poignantly recounts her relationship with her gay ex-husband who died of AIDS in her home. He also wrote a book with the same title that was a recent finalist for a Lambda Literary Award.

I saw his play here in San Francisco last year and found it to be a very enjoyable, touching experience. Fales is able to deliver his coming out story with a very human truthfulness with all his foibles laid bare but with a sincerity at its core.  His love for his children comes through, as he struggles as a man who comes to terms with his sexual identity in the middle of a marriage,  in a conservative religious environment. It is a convulsive, messy coming out process for him.  Thank goodness, he survived it to write and perform this play.

Confessions of a Mormon Boy is a MUST SEE for anyone who is interested about how someone overcomes the impossible....and who lives to sing and laugh about it.

La primera es que he terminado de ver Zettai Kareshi. Para ser una persona que dice que le importan poco las audiencias hablo mucho de ellas, ¿verdad? Lo sé, pero es que no dejan de sorprenderme. Por ejemplo en este drama. Es cierto que no es ninguna maravilla, pero teniendo en cuenta las "maravillas" por las que la audiencia se mata, no logro entender cuál es la diferencia entre unos dramas y otros. No sé cuál es el factor determinante que inclina la balanza hacia un lado o hacia otro. Me gustaría mucho que alguien me lo explicara con datos estadísticos, de verdad.

Volviendo al drama, es el típico triángulo amoroso, salvo que este caso uno de los vértices es un robot. El final es igual de horroroso y de malo que el de todos los dramas a los que los productores no quieren dar un final claro. En este caso quizá hasta lo entiendo, porque a mí también me surgiría la duda de con cuál de los dos quedarme, pero la solución que le han dado tampoco me convence, porque ni con uno ni con otro. El mejor, sin duda, es Hayami Mokomichi (o el robot). A Aibu Saki cada vez la soporto menos (y era una actriz que en sus primeros papeles me gustó mucho) y el otro vértice lo único que tiene es una belleza bastante importante y demasiadas muecas y gestitos de mal actor.

También he empezado a ver Manhattan Love Story. Es del mismo guionista que Ikebukuro West Gate Park y se nota. De hecho, un cincuenta por ciento del reparto de IWGP aparece en este drama, ya sea con cameos o con papeles más o menos protagonistas. Lo bueno, lo original y lo que me gustó mucho es que el protagonista, Matsuoka Masahiro, apenas dice tres frases en todo el capítulo. Y es el protagonista. Lo único que oímos es su voz en off, pensamientos y emociones, al estar al frente de un café y al empezar a sentir algo por una taxista un tanto especial, Koizumi Kyoko. El drama se presentaba como firme candidato a que lo subtitulara, pero no he podido ver más que el primer capítulo porque las raw no tienen ni un seed. Esto de ver dramas antiguos es un sufrimiento, o no hay subtítulos o no hay seeds...

Y antes de acabar, solo decir que la temporada de verano ya ha comenzado. Todavía no se han estrenado los dramas importantes, pero los que lo han hecho, empiezan en su tónica de audiencias muy bajas, bajas o normales (vamos, de perogrullo). El único que sobresale es Code Blue, con 21.2, una cifra muy buena, pero de la que no puedo opinar porque no he visto aún el primer capítulo.

Karishma, who has long been in hibernation since entering wedlock, said, ''It is not that I have severed my links with Bollywood. Yeah, I do admit that it's been long since I was last seen on the silver screen, but I will certainly stage a comeback whenever I come across some meaningful role.''

Karishma, however, sounded evasive when a query was hurled at her regarding the ''impending'' marriage of Kareena with actor Saif Ali Khan, saying, '' I don't think I should comment on that as it is a private matter between two individuals. So, I think that matter should not be touched upon.''

How does she react to entertainment entering the sports arena? the actress, who stepped into tinselville with a forgettable 'Prem Qaidi', said, '' It is good that entertainment has entered sports, like in IPL and these are the two things which have interested the people of the country like anything.

So, the two joining hands will definitely usher in a very good era, which will be fruitful for both.''

Larry Harmon, the man who not only played Bozo the Clown for many years, but turned the character into an institution has died. He passed away at his home due to congestive heart failure at the age of 83. Bozo the Clown was a character created by writer & producer Alan W. Livingston. The clown created for a series of children's records in 1946 would delight them for decades. Harmon was not the first nor would he the last to play the lovable clown. Unlike the others, he would take the job and run with it--eventually purchasing the rights to the character. He turned a casting call for personal appearances into big business.

Now we all know Clowns are creepy as all get out but I've always been intrigued by Harmon.

He was born in Toledo, Ohio and managed the character brilliantly. He'd basically lease out the character and name to local markets and then train those picked to play the role (something like 200 or so). I can only imagine what it'd be like to create or be a part of history like that. A character that would live on for half a century! I mean from the start in 1946 to the last pie to the face in Chicago, in 2001 it was a staple, a mainstay, a (enter cliched phrase here).

They're still creepy! Need proof? Hell In Washington, D.C. Bozo was portrayed for a time by Willard Scott!!!

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents the studios, said both sides met Wednesday for four hours to discuss the offer. The meeting was held a day after the contract between SAG and the studios expired.

The guild asked for more time to examine the offer and said it would contact the studios Monday. No further meetings are scheduled.

The alliance said in a statement it is hopeful the guild will accept the final offer, which it said would add $250 million in compensation to actors over three years.

يحكي أن سيدة كانت في ضيافة أسرة حضرة عبد البهاء، كانت هذه السيدة في غاية الإكتئاب نتيجة شعورها دائما "بعدم الأستحقاق" لأي شيء، وتحمل نفسها دائما أخطاء، وكان حضرة عبد البهاء نتيجة ملاحظته لها يقول لها "كوني سعيدة".

وبدأت السيدة تتساءل لماذا يخصها حضرة عبد البهاء بهذه العبارة أكثر من الآخرين؟ وأخيرا سألت حضرته لماذا يريدها أن تكون سعيدة؟

فرد حضرته قائلا "إنا أقول لكي بأن تكوني سعيدة لأننا لا نستطيع أن نعرف الحياة الروحية إلا إذا كنا سعداء"، فتساءلت السيدة: أخبرني يامولاي عن معني الحياة الروحية فلقد سمعت عنها منذ ولادتي ولم يستطع أحد أن يفسرها لي.

فتفضل حضرته قائلا: أن تكتسبي صفات الله وعندئذ ستعرفين الحياة الروحية، وأخذت السيدة تفكر ماذا يعني حضرته؟ ماهي الصفات التي كان يتحدث عنها؟ لابد وأنها تكون تلك الصفات العظمى بالطبع كالمحبة والكرم والجمال والعدل ...................على هذا المنوال الرائع، وأخذ عقلها يفكر في كيفية تطبيق ماقاله حضرة عبد البهاء. وطوال اليوم كان عقلها فائضا متعمقا في اللغز الإلهي، وأيضا كانت سعيدة حتى أنها لم تفكر في واجباتها التي كانت تلوم نفسها كل يوم أنها لم تنجزها حسبما ترغب، ولما وصلت إلى وقت محاسبة النفس بالمساء لم تتذكر أنها تركت واجباتها دون تأدية وفي النهاية أستطاعت أن تفهم حل اللغز؟!!!! وتعرف العلاقة بين السعادة والحياة الروحية؟

لقد توصلت السيدة أنه اذا كان عقل الأنسان وقلبه مغرقين في الأفكار السماوية فسوف تترجم بالضرورة المبادىءالإلهية والأفكار إلى أعمال، وستكون ليالينا وأيامنا مليئة بالضياء، ومن أجل ذلك نجد حضرة بهاء الله يأمرنا أن نكون سعداء فتفضل قائلا (يابن الإنسان أفرح بسرور قلبك لتكون قابلا للقائي ومرآة لجمالي)

وهنا نجد أن حضرة بهاء الله قد علق قابليتنا للقائه على سرور قلوبنا، فماذا نريد دافعا أكثر لنسعد ونملأ الدنيا إبتهاجا وتفضل قائلا إيضا:

(يابن الروح روح القدس يبشرك بالأنس كيف تحزن وروح الأمر يؤيدك على الأمر كيف تحتجب ونور الوجه يمشي قدامك كيف تضل)

إن روح القدس يؤانس الإنسان دائما فلم الحزن والأسى وأكثر من ذلك سنصبح مرايا ينعكس عليها جمال الأسم الأعظم فماذا ننتظر كي نطهر وننقي قلوبنا من غبار الكدورة والغم؟؟؟؟!!!  

I was just checking through some of my favorite films, looking for others to add to my must watch list. One of the directors I found was Joe Johnston. I didn't realize this before, but I've seen all of his films. Here's a quick ranking:

It turns out that Joe Johnston is directing The Wolf Man, which will be released next year. Benicio Del Toro stars in the titular role. Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving, and rising actress Emily Blunt are in this as well.

 (Hasta cuándo van a seguir con la tiradera!!! están empeñados en borrar la imagen que tenemos del chavo, chespirito..etc donde sentiamos que ellos eran una familia....que horror, y la realidad es que no se pueden ni ver)

El comediante afirmó en rueda de prensa que tanto "Chespirito" como su pareja, deberían aceptar públicamente que recibieron dinero del narco, aunque consideró que igualmente quieren cuidar su imagen.

Es así como Villagrán validó las versiones del libro de un hijo de un famoso narcotraficante colombiano, quien dijo que "Chespirito" fue contratado para llevar su espectáculo a una fiesta particular del capo, versión que en ese entonces negó Roberto Gómez Bolaños.

Incluso "Quico" dijo que también unos narcos le ofrecieron trabajar en una fiesta privada de una de sus hijas, incluso le dieron un cheque en blanco, pero él rechazó la oferta. (ah pues es por envidia?? ehehhe)

Recordó que el rompimiento que hubo cuando salió de la serie "El chavo del 8" en 1978, fue porque Gómez Bolaños sentía celos que su personaje de "Quico" tuviera más popularidad.

Sobre Florinda Meza agregó que ella lleva la batuta de la relación con Gómez Bolaños y que  fue la causante de que hubiera problemas en el elenco de la serie. Destacó que la actriz está "traumada" porque no puede tener hijos.

A pesar de todo, dijo que no tiene ningún rencor contra "Chespirito", aunque dijo que el personaje de "Quico" es su propiedad y a pesar de que se pasa una serie animada con el personaje que hizo famoso, no demandará al famoso comediante.

Villagrán con su personaje "Quico" comenzará una temporada de despedida en el Circo Unión a partir del 4 de julio.

I... am... beside... myself.

I don't know whether I can bring myself to watch the first 5 minutes of one of the most anticipated movies I can remember in a long time... a plight of instant or delayed gratification, if you will.

JOLIE's physician, Dr. MICHAEL SUSSMANN, gave a press conference today (yes, really) at the Lenval Hospital in Nice, southern France, to let the public know that mother and babies are doing fine.

When asked about a specific due date SUSSMANN stated:

"I can't give you a date. Let's say the birth will happen in the weeks to come."

He added:

"Mrs. ANGELINA JOLIE and her husband, Mr. BRAD PITT, told me to tell you that she is doing absolutely fine," said the doctor, apparently unaware that the actors aren't married.

"Her hospitalization at this stage in her pregnancy is totally normal for a patient who had a Caesarean (section) during her first pregnancy."
