A lot of indigenous people have no shoes on. You can see them walking barfoot in the city center if you travel this town. That seems to be Aboriginal tradition. They are able to keep walking barefoot even on an very hot asphalt road. The sole of their feet might be a bit thick by nature, or the longer you walk with bare foot, the thicker become your feet? Anyway walking barfoot looks really comfortable and natural. But I can do without shoes only on grasses. When I walked barefoot on asphalt once, my soles were burned soon. Unfortunately my soles are too thin.

So now not only am I working 3-4 days at the hotel, plus one day at channel 31, I am a research assistant. BUT once I agreed to this 4 hours work, I am told "well...actually we don't know how long it is going to take, but you just keep working and we'll pay you until you finish"

No but seriously, the book is fantastic, I keep getting side tracked from editing because i am engrossed in the writing! If anyone knows the structure of the book "Who killed Channel 9?", it is similar to that, and by that I mean it is a factual book that has been made really interesting.

Anyway just wanted to say I really like this book...

This is an example of a good analogy because Han Solo and I both survive to wittily quip another day. Also we are both amazingly good looking and have tall furry friends.

Fantastic start. Peanut nestled into me while I was doing a bit of revision in my bedroom. Peanut just makes the whole ugly study type affair that little bit brighter.

Then I created myself a lovely little study spot in the garden. I put the rabbits out in the run and watched their antics while I sorted my revision noted out and put the last bits of the essay plan together.

This is Oscar and Bess all cuddled up in their tunnel - which is actually a cat toy from Aunty Sue and Uncle Baz that Peanut grew out of! One pic from either end. Ha ha ha :)

And this is funny. A half-and-half, extremely long rabbit. Sandy and the top and silver at the base ;)

And I really did actually get some work done 8)

Not so today though. But that's another story. Perhaps for tomorrow. Tonight I'm partying with friends and relatives.  Cousin Linda is here from Canada so we're having a do at our house. I'm excited. Web Team: In short I take what a designer makes pretty and I make it work. I'm currently learning/programming in Ruby On Rails. I also get to help launch things on our Internet Campus as well.

Video Team: This was my first serving opportunity and I had no training other than a desire to let Jesus use me however he can and I'm still amazed at what he has given me the gift to be part of. I started out as a graphics operator and was the sole operator for a while, I then transitioned to a camera operator, and I now do a lot of editing videos in Final Cut Pro, creating motion graphics in After Effects, creating series countdown timer, video bumps (video that is played before the speaker walks on stage to allow a transition between the music and the message), and every so often I get to 3D compositing. Some of my latest work here was in our imagine2 dvd that we produced I created a 3d globe that would have a light coming out of it and rippling across the world. As I create elements in the future I will post a link to them so you can see them and give me any pointers on how to do things better in the future.

I love getting to volunteer and let Jesus use my gifts so that people far from Jesus can enter into a relationship with him and be transformed into a wholehearted follower. It's a gift getting to do what I do.

E' stata una settimana stressantissima, sbattuto per lo stivale e non solo...ma finalmente ci si riposa dopo aver fatto comunque il mio dovere in ufficio.
Questa settimana ho ricevuto un'importante offerta di lavoro che sto valutando attentamente: come ogni proposta ha i suoi 'pro' ed i suoi 'contro'...analizziamoli nel dettaglio:

CONTRO:
- Mi pagano molto meno...praticamente la metà rispetto alla mia attuale retribuzione;
- C'è da fare 5 settimane di Academy a Milano (tutto però spesato da loro, alloggio incluso);
- Dopo l'Academy andrò comunque a lavorare in Toscana, ma può darsi che non sia Firenze (spese comunque sostenute da loro);
- Lascerei un ambiente in cui comunque mi sono ambientato velocemente, composta da persone squisite e disponibili che non mi hanno mai creato problemi...anzi!
- Non posso partecipare alla crociera aziendale in programma a fine maggio (entrerei a giugno!) :(

PRO:
- E' una GRANDISSIMA azienda, multinazionale;
- Il mio CV subirebbe un'evoluzione incredibile;
- Imparerei tantissimo per quanto riguarda il Framework .NET;
- Prenderei la certificazione Microsoft;
- La tipologia contrattuale è molto più stabile e c'è possibilità di far carriera;
- FERIE!!!!!

Penso che il weekend mi porterà consiglio...anche se in cuor mio ho già deciso!

Dicevo...è finita una dura settimana, quindi via coi propositi del weekend: sto mettendo la tipica panza dell'impiegato...STOP! Bisogna muoversi: ed allora ecco che domani andrò a correre sulle mura di Lucca, è ufficiale (segnatevi 'sta cosa che poi ci risentiamo lunedi, dove ammetterò di non aver fatto una cippa!).

Soooooo, now the plan is to prepare our home so we can put it on the market THIS JUNE and we plan to relocate and build within the next 6 months (if possible and all goes well).  We've been watching our HGTV and DIY channels, made a list of home improvements and a list of supplies.  We went to The Home Depot and purchased all that we would need for our projects, and now we are working our little tails off fixing the place up for sale. 

Our house is a home that Anthony purchased last year, with the intention not to stay long.  He planned on staying a couple of years and then selling it.  It's an old house, built in 1941, and it has a cute story.  The community in which we live was built when a local airport (Martin State Airport) was booming.  The employees of Martin State Airport were able to purchase the homes at about $5,000.00.  Many of the homes in the area, though some have changed over the years, are very similar in style and you can definitely see the old community bones.  We live just outside of Baltimore and are within a hop, skip, and a jump from most anything we might need.  Our little town is a blue-collar community and there are many families with children.  It was supposedly the first housing community ever built in the U.S. and I find it charming.

Knowing all of that now, if you follow my blog and wonder why I've not been posting regularly, that is why.  I thought I'd inform though, and take you on our little journey of fixing up the house.  So far, we have done some landscaping and undertook the task of replacing the lawn in the back yard...from seed.  I hope it takes, because it was in dire need, a lot of work was put into it and if it doesn't grow, it's going to be an eyesore!  We still have some minor cosmetic things to do outside, like painting doors and fixing up the front entry, but most of our tasks are inside tasks.  Our house is about 1100 square feet.  We have a Living Room, Kitchen/Dining area, a sun room, a laundry room, three bedrooms and one bath.  I'd tell you our to-do list, but I think I'll save it for another day. 

In the meantime, we are just about finished with the sunroom.  We painted and put down new flooring.  Now, I just have to clean up the door and after the windows are put in, it's good to go!  Our next project to focus on is the bathroom.  We are not gutting it, but we are replacing the sink/cabinet, the hardware, lighting, accessories and are painting.  We don't have much time, so I'm sure you'll be getting lots of updates as we move along.  Today, I'm cleaning up the sunroom door and I'm starting to remove the bathroom glass door.  I suppose I should share some pics with you...I'll do so either later today or tomorrow.  Until then, there will be a house for sale SOON...and we've got a lot to do until that time!!

And that was it! I thought if I were to write about all the random stuff that goes on in my life, it would all fit nicely under the umbrella "Nothing is normal here."

And where is "here?" Most of my life is contained between my 15 acre farm where my horses live and my job at the library. I rarely travel outside of the mid-Ohio county where I live, except for the times I jaunt across the ocean for extended stays in faraway countries. In high school I was an exchange student in Scotland, and in college I spent a semester studying in Ireland--but that was in the 90s and is now ancient history.

My boys take up most of my attention now. Buddy is an 18 year old Tennessee Walking Horse who has been diagnosed with metabolic syndrome, which creates all kinds of challenges. Utah is a mustang, a bossy little guy with a heart of gold. Utah's motto is "if I feel like it," while Buddy's motto varies from "will there be food?" to "do I have to move to get there?"

I could write more, but there's plenty of time and I don't want to be one of those people who get stuck to their computers and have to be surgically removed.

Love and Memories - O.A.R. A great song, from a not so well known group. This song was one of the first (and maybe only) ones I ever heard from them on the radio. It's upbeat without being too annoying.

When Did Your Heart Go Missing - Rooney. Another dance in your seat song.

Come on Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners. OMG. I've always loved this song. And according to wikipedia "midnight running" is the high achieved from taking a recreational drug "dexy" that allows you to dance all night long.

It's Raining Men - The Weather Girls. "Hi. We're your weather girls, and have we got news for you." This is a fun girl's night song, even if you already have a man.

Float On - Modest Mouse. Another one I kinda bob my head to the beat. Don't laugh at me!

Black Rock - O.A.R. Black rock is a kind of introspective-ish song. There is an interesting mix of musical styles in this song, including a Jamaican kind of feel.

Soul Meets Body - Deathcab for Cutie. This song makes me feel like driving on the open road (not that I do that frequently) and something about the lead singer's voice is almost mesmerizing.
