Voilà donc un autre fait marquant en faveur des autoroutes en super-2.  Avec seulement deux voies, sur une seule chaussée, veux, veux pas, on ne peut pas faire des miracles.  Mais au lieu de dévier la circulation, dans la direction la moins fréquentée, par les routes 232, et 132, afin de contourner le chantier, et laisser l'unique voie disponible en mouvement, on a préféré fonctionner comme sur un vulgaire chemin de campagne, où il passe trois véhicules à l'heure.  L'enquête dira ce que faisait le conducteur du camion-remorque qui est venu faucher les véhicules en attente, mais il est d'ores et déjà clair, dans la tête de beaucoup de gens, que c'est encore "un de ces maudits camions dangereux, qui prennent la route pour eux tout seuls".  Évidemment.  Ça saute aux yeux.  Pourtant, aucun ingénieur intelligent ne mettrait en place de la circulation en alternance sur une autoroute.  Qu'est-ce que ça fait là, de la circulation en alternance, sur une autoroute?

À moins qu'il ne passe que trois véhicules à l'heure, sur l'A-20, à Rimouski...

J'aimerais bien voir la ministre, Julie Boulet, aller dire aux membres de la famille de la victime de ce carambolage que les autoroutes en super-2 sont effectivement des routes sécuritaires, juste pour voir la réaction, dans leur visage.  Bien sûr, madame la ministre ne se prêtera pas à ce genre d'exercice.

Alors ceux qui croient que la future A-50, entre Gatineau et Lachute, sera une belle route sécuritaire, je vous propose de bien lire ces articles, ci-haut mentionnés, parce que vous risquez de voir, à la télé, ou d'entendre, à la radio, en attendant de lire, dans les journaux du lendemain, des nouvelles du même genre.  Et cela parce que des in-gné-gneurs se disent que l'on peut faire de la circulation en alternance sur une autoroute sécuritaire, construite en super-2.

Efter att ha läst lite i böckerna så bestämde jag mig snabbt för att köra hans 50+ program, dvs ett program för dig som har 50kg+ att gå ned. Nu har inte jag det, utan 30+, men 50+ föreslås även för de som är extremt sockerkänsliga. Och vad är jag? Jo, sockerkänslig. Så igår och idag har jag läst i de 2 böckerna "Ät dig ned i vikt" och "GI-noll!" och finner såklart många likheter med Litsfeldts böcker som jag tidigare lånat på bibblan. Det som däremot skiljer böckerna markant åt är att Skaldeman mest grundar sina viktminskningsförslag på egna erfarenheter. Han åkte in på akuten en dag och var då i så dåligt skick att han förstod att nu måste han göra något åt det. Så han började föra en matdagbok och skrev ned allt han åt och hur det påverkade hans vikt/mående. Till slut så var han framme vid den förhållning mellan fett, proteiner och kolhydrater som han i böckerna förespråkar. Litsfeldt däremot har, förutom egen erfarenhet även totalt dissikerat de moderna hälsorekommendationerna i sina böcker och för en ständig kamp/dialog med Livsmedelsverkets experter genom sin blogg på nätet. Detta gör han genom att påvisa ny forskning han hittar som stöder lchf och han slutar aldrig att kräva vetenskapliga bevis till den rekommenderade låg fett/hög kolhydrat-kost som vi matats med i en hel generation. I mitt tycke så kompletterar dessa två författare varandra väl. Dr Annika Dahlqvist är även det en trevlig författare och bloggare att ta del av. Naturligtvis finns det fler, men jag har inte hunnit så långt! :-)

Idag så har jag i alla fall kört helt enligt 50+ hittills och tänker så göra. Igår körde jag också low carb, men med lite mycket grönsaker (wokgrönsaker med morot i) till lunchen så jag räknade inte igår som "Dag 1". Igår kväll fick jag lite lägligt huvudvärk och tog mig faktiskt lite paracetamol emot den. Sockerabstinens ger gärna lite huvudvärk vid avvänjningen.

Finalmente achei o show do Mike Patton, Mondo Cane, bem filmado e gravado aqui na Web. Estava  indicando um vídeo do Hurra Torpedo para o mestre Diego Medina (ex- VideoHits), e para trocar figurinhas,  ele me mandou esse. Bem, o que falar do  Medina que sempre tem algo bom para  me indicar. Perfeito ! Nesse show, Patton canta clássicos Italianos dos anos 50 e 60, entre eles  os de Domenico Modugno, Edoardo Vianello, Mal, Adriano Celentano, Gino Paoli e Luigi Tenco. Patton é acompanhado da Metropole Orchestra  e da banda Coralli di Torino. Tudo indica que será esse o show do DVD Mondo Cane. The project came about when my fellow Channel 4 commissioner, Aaqil Ahmed, came to ask me if I had any ideas about how to give his Islamic culture TV season (The Wonders of Islam) an online dimension. He had commissioned a very special documentary about the Qur'an, a series about the Seven Wonders of Islam and some other programmes, all highlighting the diversity of Muslim culture beyond the Middle East. So that was the brief: show how varied Islamic culture is across the world.

I had been talking to Andy Bell at Mint Digital for a long time about doing a project together but it never quite happened, the right thing hadn't come along. From chatting to Andy I knew he had recently married a Muslim woman, that he had a strong interest in things spiritual, and that he had insight into both worlds. We bounced a few ideas around, brought in other colleagues from Mint, combined a few themes and merged some ideas until we had the participative journey that is Osama Loves: Searching for 500 Faces of Islam.

So today that journey starts and Farrah and Masood are going to need all the help they can get... If you know an Osama or can help them on their travels in any way please do let them know via the site's blog comments.

The question came up while we were developing the Ed Spec, what if they find That Osama (the cliche one)? We wrote into the Specification that if that were to happen Mint definitely get a second series with a decent budget ;-)

Another important question is why are our young travelers bothering to cross continents in search of names and faces? Let me briefly tell you Farrah's story. She was doing her medical training in East London when one day she finds herself in an operating theatre into which is wheeled a patient for an amputation. It struck her as odd how young this patient was - usually there are years of artery furring abuse behind an amputation like this. To cut a long and sad story short, the patient that day was one of the victims of the 7/7 bombings in London. Suddenly the reality of that outrage, committed by men with very similar backgrounds to Farrah herself (a fact that quickly struck her), that outrage shook her identity to the core. Now she's on a mission and this time it's personal: to prove that That Osama does not represent her community, to explore what Islamic culture and belief really means to her, and to provide insight into the day-to-day realities of Muslim communities, their concerns and hopes, their perspectives and loves. "Osama" and "Loves" are not two words you often hear together, or expect to. This initiative is yoking them together whether That Osama likes it or not.

Talking of Thes and Thats, for now I'll leave the last words to Matt Johnson of The The. I met him once when I was working with Tim Pope and Pete Goddard who made some of their best promos - Matt made me a cup of tea the first time he came into the office in Marshall Street - tea-making was my realm at that point in my first job so it was a generous gesture which hasn't been forgotten. Writing the last paragraph punctuated with "Loves" reminded me of this song of his about two people walking away from death and conquering with love:

50 is a celebrated number, a number that is hyped beyond all glory and a number that serves as an excuse to show your joy and celebrate. My 50^th post must mean a big deal to me. In fact, it doesn't. It is just another number, as good and bad as 49. It is not a landmark event in my life that I've written 50 articles. And it certainly doesn't inspire me to go on and make a hundred. That I most definitely will and I don't need a 50 to tell me that I will write 100 posts. In the past, I've seen people cherish their 50^th posts by sprinkling it with links of their favorite posts, people's favorites, favorite comments and so on. I shall do nothing of that sort. I cherish each and every post of mine and I appreciate all the criticism, comparison and affection showered on me by people. As an unwritten rule, people starting to blog inevitably make ‘Why do I blog?' their first post to a large degree. I am thankful I didn't start my blog off in such an inane manner and let people know what is in store for them, partly because I didn't know what I would be writing about. All I knew was that I could write and I will.

It started off with a post full of periods and language that could hardly be termed English. That being the first ever time I wrote on cyberspace, I expected a lot from people reading my post. In other words, as I wrote more posts, I began to gauge myself by the number of comments I got. Not the content, but the quantity. I liked a huge number to appear next to my post, signifying the amount of people who have commented. During this phase, I endeavored to satisfy you. I was hugely disappointed with the paltry numbers my posts elicited. The salt rubbed in deeper into that wound when I saw other blogs, where a few disjointed sentences making no sense whatsoever going into double digits. It would suffice to say that I was desperate for comments.

Then began the phase when I began to doubt my pen. ‘Am I that bad,' I used to ask myself over and over again, ‘or are people plain blind??' This went on for quite some time when all of a sudden, the lightning bolt struck me and I asked ‘Why am I comparing myself to them?' ‘Why am I so desperate for comments?' And just as it had come, it left. I wanted to write because I wanted to write. Not for anyone to peruse my writings and tell me whether I am good or bad. Not for anyone who wished to compare me with authors, well known or otherwise. Not for anyone who cared. Not for anyone who didn't. Not to impress anyone. Not to intimidate anyone. I stopped caring about the number of comments I got from each post, and wrote whenever I felt like it and whatever I wished to write. And my constant efforts to send you my link after I publish any post are directed toward intimating you that you have something new to read and cherish if possible.

I stopped envying my other writer friends because of the number of comments they got and instead, concentrated my envying on the way they penned. That made all the difference in the world. I now learnt things from each post, good or bad. And I make it a point to comment on every post I read, lest there be people like me who are made of softer stuff and the numbers lead to their giving up the pen. I must give due credit to this world as it is here I met the chump who introduced me to PG Wodehouse who I presently worship. There are many other people I wish to thank, so, Thank You for everything!

I also take this opportunity to salve any hurt sentiments, if any, with the following words - I am not sorry about anything I wrote, I am only sorry that I couldn't put it in a form in which you could understand and relate to.

I've been divorced for years and thought that the sun had set on my opportunity to be a husband again--man, was I wrong.  All of that changed in March of 2007 when I met the woman that I'm going to marry tomorrow.  She introduces me to her friends as "the man of her dreams".  How cool is that! 

We met at my church (BTW, a great place to meet some).  I decided to volunteer for some things and she was coordinating the volunteers.  The rest is history and tomorrow at 3pm, we're going to walk down the isle and say our vows in front of 500-600 of our family and friends.  AMAZING! 

Sometimes life has a way of surprising us and this is one of those times.  I can't even begin to explain how much joy I have as I think about what tomorrow will be like.  I've been trying to picture it in my mind for months.  In fact, I've created a slideshow that will open the service and have been playing it over and over and over and over for weeks. 

Tomorrow evening, we'll begin our new life together with a honeymoon up the California coast.  I doubt if I'll be doing much blogging this next week! 

No matter what curves life throws you, don't ever give up because you never know what might be around the next corner!   

In her book about women’s second adulthood, Inventing the Rest of Our Lives, Suzanne Braun Levine provides us with some exiting data concerning the aging brain. Dr. Francine Benes, professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, has discovered that there is a growth spurt that takes place in the human brain around the age of fifty. Myelin, which is the fatty layer that covers nerve fibers, actually grows about fifty percent during this time. This coating is responsible for aiding the brain to more effectively synthesize life experiences and to enhance the ability to make thoughtful judgments and prudent decisions.  

Even better, the location of this growth spurt is found within the area of the cerebral cortex that is identified with emotional learning. Perhaps, as Levine suggests, this myelin growth factor may likely play a part in creating the highly revered trait we call wisdom.

So, next time we search for our car keys, call our son by the dog’s name, or forget to tell our husband his boss phoned, we have to remember that somewhere in our noggin there’s a whole heap of wisdom going on!

Per il momento cavalco uno scooter, Aprilia Sportcity 200, dopo essere passato per un Piaggio Liberty 125 e ancor prima un Piaggio Free 50. Spero di poter montare presto su una vera moto tutta mia perchè mi sono rotto di piegare con lo scooter!

Rap music is full of drama but the current king of controversy is 50 Cent. 50 is currently battling with former G-Unit member Young Buck after 50 released a recorded a phone conversation between the two where Buck gets emotional and and starts crying as he explains to 50 why he should still be down with the G-Unit clique.

According to 50, he never would have released the tape if Buck hadn't supposedly told the G-Unit to go “F#*!k itself while doing a show in Tampa. “I would never have put (the call) out if he wasn’t out in the middle of a show saying f me,” said 50 in a recent radio interview with Hot 97’s Angie Martinez.

Young Buck immediately responded to 50’s actions with a retaliation dis song called “Taped Conversation” in which he slams the G-Unit and 50. To add fuel to the fire, soon after this controversy started, former G-Unit member The Game also chimed in, showing support for Young Buck by releasing his own G-Unit dis track called “Taped Convo.”

“You don’t care about your son, if you did he would get yanked up…taping n*ggas phone calls what kind of shit is that…I told Buck in ’05 I could never stay loyal to a homo snitch n*gga that’s weaker than tin foil,” said The Game in his new song. One can only imagine that things are going to get even worse between these three before it gets better.

Can’t we all just get along?
