I am so sick of the news and I felt like watching a movie so I popped one of my favorite movies in, 27 Dresses. By the end my head was rolling because I had taken two Benedryl cold right before it started. I love this movie. I even talked my husband into watching it and I think he was pleasantly surprised.

It was a nice way to spend a Friday night. We enjoyed some microwave popcorn. Kroger brand has microwave popcorn for $1 and we buy the natural so the girls can eat it. It is awesome. It does not need butter. I think they use soybean oil or something to flavor it. It does not need salt either. It is very tasty!

(Clip from Talk To Me. Don Cheadle plays Petey Greene)

Even though my career is settled in music, my hobby of watching and analyzing films is something extremely important to me. The combination of music and film is what brought my strong interest to both of these significant aspects of the entertainment world.

At Wisconsin, I was a film major. Even though this was considered on the “easier” majors of the university, I disagree. The indepth knowledge I learned about the history of film, television, radio and its relationship with culture is so unique. Last year, I took a class that analyzed films from 1950’s to present day. In many of the films, (which include Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice, Tarantino’s Jackie Brown and Kasi Lemmons Talk To Me–charting the life of D.C. disc jockey Petey Greene–HIGHLY RECOMMEND), we analyzed films in all of its aspects: narrative, camera style, visions of the directors as well as the music. The music in these films play a pivotal role in how it relates to each character in particular and how it allows the story to be played out.

Putting music into a film takes hard work. For some of you who might know, music is always included after production in a film. Even though it seems like there is such a flow between the actions and musical transitions in movies, it is almost always done in post-production. A trend that seems to be more popular over time has been using both original score as well as additional songs.

Bottom line: people underestimate the music. What do you think brings each scene together? When something happens to a character, music is usually playing either in the forefront (silencing the dialogue) or background. It brings emotion to the people, the plot and the overall tone of the film.

As homework: Watch 27 Dresses. Yes its a chick flick but very funny. The placement of music in this movie couldn’t be better as well as some of the artists and songs they chose. Just to name a few: Kasabian, Elton, Corinne Bailey Rae “Like A Star”. Thank you to music supervisor Buck Damon (whos credits include Blow, Mean Girls, Garden State, Step Up) who is one of the best in the movie biz.

If you want other movies with amazing music soundtracks, try The Devil Wears Prada, Something’s Gotta Give, The Last Kiss. Feel free to add your own. It would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

It’s official. I love the movie 27 Dresses. I watched it yet again last night (simultaneously

It’s official. I love the movie 27 Dresses. I watched it yet again last night (simultaneously with another group of friends in a different ciy, I discovered. Crazy!). Here’s my list (from memory) of things I like, in no particular order. With some of the reasons why.

James Marsden is good-looking. There’s no way around that.

Kevin Doyle has great style. All casual with the sling back and the sneakers, but pulls of a dress shirt and blazer, just the same…

The taxi-cab scene at the start of the film - “Here’s $160. You know what you did.”

The bickering. All the bickering. I’ve realized that I actually really enjoy that type of fighting/flirting.

The line “I cried like a baby at the Keller wedding.”

The entire Benny and the Jets scene.

The fact that they both love looking at the groom when the bride shows up. That’s my favourite part too.

Jane really wants to be a good friend. She overdoes it, but I empathize because I think I can be similar.

The ridiculous dresses. I cannot believe people would have weddings like that - I know they’re fake, but honestly…based on reality.

Jane cherishes her parents’ marriage.

Jane cleans with Seventh Generation cleaning products. So do we.

Jane loves Tess, even in the midst of all their fighting. I really value the commitment to family.

Jane refuses to chase down George. I respect a woman who won’t throw herself at a man.

There is a great soundtrack.

The song Like a Star by Corrine Bailey Rae is perfectly placed.

Tess’ ignorance: “HELLO, PEDRO!” “Shagging flies? Sounds like fun…”

The freedom we all have to hate Tess, just a little, for being such a princess.

Casey. She is loud, she is obnoxious, and she is a great friend.

The yoga scene. “I don’t see any signs that say no talking!”

“To you it’s just another casserole dish, but to Tess it’s the dish she’ll bake Mom’s Christmas roast in.”
“Tess cooks?”
“Well, no. I’ll cook it. But she’ll be there.”
“And this…this is the ugly rooster where George will hang all his umbrellas…”

Jane can’t say no. Sometimes I can’t either.
“Jane, gimme 50 bucks.”
“No!”
“Jane, may I please have $50?”
“No.”
“Jane, (he takes her hand) I really need some money. Can you lend me $50?”
“No?”
“Ok. Can I have your drink?”
“Sure. (he drinks) Oh, NO!!!”

Kevin calls Jane on her crap. I can’t quote this one…but something about how she keeps herself busy planning other peoples’ lives so that she isn’t forced to have one herself.

Just after the disastrous slideshow with Casey, “I know my moral compass doesn’t exactly point due north…but if I say something’s wrong, something’s wrong…”

Just after the disastrous slideshow with Kevin, “You wanna know the real reason I came here tonight? I came because I knew it would be hard for you and for the first time in a long time, I cared…You deserve someone who will take care of you…” (isn’t this what every woman wants to hear? or at least 95% of us?)

Jan makes a good villainous, callous boss. Turns out, I don’t think I like her as a human either (this is a terrible thing to say, I know. I just read a rather disappointing article last night, though).

The pancakes that their dad makes, with the strawberry smiles and blueberry eyes.

“Get over here.” (motions with his head) She comes. They kiss.

Katherine Heigl stars in this romantic comedy about a selfless young woman who is trapped in the role of perennial bridesmaid. She meets Malcolm (James Marsden), a cynical young man who, unbeknownst to her, writes for a newspaper’s wedding column. Malcolm is intrigued by the sheer number of times Jane has played bridesmaid, and he secretly decides to write a story about her. To further complicate Jane’s life, her younger sister Tess (Malin Akerman) has just come to town and ensnared Jane’s longtime crush, George (Edward Burns). When George and Tess become engaged, Jane faces the humiliating prospect of playing bridesmaid in the wedding of her sister and the man she loves.

Ok, admittedly I did not have high hopes for this film. This is one of those movies I decide to watch when I’m in the mood to sit back, unwind, and let my mind go completely blank so it can be filled with chick flick feel-goodery. Sadly, my mind stayed blank this time. This is a movie all about weddings. Not marriages, not relationships, just weddings. It’s odd that none of the main characters are married. When Kevin chides Jane that she doesn’t care about marriage, just weddings, he could be speaking for the film itself. We are led to assume that every wedding, no matter how oddly attired, ends happily ever after, and Heigl’s stock character only has to patiently wait for her turn. Heigl is charming and engaging, and comes across as a real person stuck in a flat movie.

Warning: I am including the trailer below. If you have any intention of watching the film in the future, DO NOT watch this trailer. Why? Because watching a 30 second trailer tells you absolutely everything you’ll get out of the film, including how it’ll end.

Studio: Tcfhe Release Date: 01/13/2009 Run time: 105 minutes Rating: Pg13

Katherine Heigl is delightful as Jane, a self-effacing Gal Friday so addicted to organizing weddings in her off time, that 27 Dresses opens with her character juggling two nuptials on the same night. A perpetual bridesmaid, Janes hobby is discovered by a matrimony reporter named Kevin (James Marsden), who hides a romantic side behind his wall of cynicism. While Kevin gradually develops feelings for Jane, the latters superficial sister, Tess (Malin Akerman), pursues George (Edward Burns), Janes boss and the object of her love. This romantic circle could go on forever, except that Jane is unexpectedly moved by Kevin despite her general irritation with him and without knowing that hes on the verge of sandbagging her with a ridiculing article in his newspaper. The situation is absurd, but the emotions are not. Heigl is very good, rooted in a long tradition of comely comediennes playing characters who fly under the radar of life. She makes Janes pain palpable and conveys her characters inability to say no without making her look unappealing or weak. Marsden perfectly captures the part of a rumpled, underdressed writer with repressed passions, Akerman is as convincingly shrewish here as she was in The Heartbreak Kid, and Burns is fine as one of those guys so busy saving the world he barely pays attention to the people in his life. The script by Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada) is fun if predictable, and Anne Fletchers direction is vibrant. –Tom Keogh

I’ve been single for about a week and a half now, and what I’ve found, simply, is that single life is different.

In short, single me…

…saves money by not seeing movies he doesn’t want to see.

…sees other girls and secretly names them. For example, I mentally refer to the girl who I see at the gym at work as “Girlfriend on the side.” Not because I was or am seeing her on the side (I wasn’t/am not), but because this girl is only pretty from the side. In an elaborate daydream, we run away together, going on dates that force us to both face one direction–movies, walks, drives, doubles tennis games (we’d be on the same team), dinner at the diner counter, dinner at the bar at Applebee’s. She’s my girlfriend on the side.

…feels lonely when sitting by himself on a loveseat.

Bet Disney wishes she looked like this all the time.

Channel Drift: Remember how MTV first started out playing music videos and has since morphed into a totally different channel? Well, it’s a lot more common than we might’ve originally thought. Fourteen other cable channels have also undergone identity changes. Maybe we should cut MTV some slack.

90210: Will have a shortened episode on Nov. 4 so viewers won’t have to choose between that and election coverage. ‘Cause, you know, the audiences for those two things are exactly the same.

James Marsden: Who does The Notebook, Enchanted and, let’s not forget, 27 Dresses actor want to impress? Judd Apatow! He thinks playing a bigot in the new film Sex Drive will help his cause. Good luck with that, James.

Obama: Might he make Oprah an ambassador? After all, she is the Queen of All Media.

Partisan TV: A new report says Republicans favor Rock of Love and Dems go for I Love New York. That’s high class right there.

Bi-Partisan Comedy: Less likely today as left-leaning comedians have the market cornered. Are Democrats just better at everything?

Miley Cyrus: Those scandalous bathroom photos from the spring? Courtesy of a hacker now under investigation by the FBI. But wasn’t she just being Miley?

MTV: Not going ahead with planned series Model Makers, which chronicled the making of wannabe models into the correct (read: skinny) body types. Shocking considering the other stuff they’ve shown. Who remembers I Want A Famous Face? Maybe we shouldn’t cut MTV some slack…

SIZZLED OUT: Samuel L. Jackson

STILL SIZZLING: Which R & B singer says she’s motivated not by athletes’ chiseled looks but instead their smooth skills?

I’m so sorry. I’m such a bitch. I hadn’t realized that it’s been 2, 3 months

I’m so sorry. I’m such a bitch. I hadn’t realized that it’s been 2, 3 months. And this is my second month with getting my computer back. I’m a big, fat loser. You should egg my house [not really, please don't]. I should die, but I’m not going to anytime soon. Instead, I’ll write about my summer’s conclusion and my school’s beginning…

When I was in florida, i found a love. a love so deep, that i didn’t watch tv unless the show that was playing was ABSOLUTELY required in my genral make-up [i.e. family guy, gossip girl]. this love was in a book series. this book series is the miricle that is twilight. it’s not just keeping up with the trends for me. it really, really isn’t. i picked up this book at barnes and noble because it was recomended to me many, many times. all i wanted was for my friends to shut the hell up about this book. little did i know that i too, would become one of them. my fingers hurt too much right now to talk about the book, edward cullen (my lover. any bitch who wants to take me for him, be my guest. i’ll kick your ass. he’s MINE), and how much i wish i was bella swan. google the book or something, ok? but seriously. i have become grossly obsessed. i have 3 parts of my mind working right now. the first third is what’s going on right this minute. the second is the overnight (next para), and the third is twilight. i highly reccomend this book to teens and adults. guys, it’s not a chick book, ok? and even if it is, girls LOVE the boys who can keep up in a twilight conversation. COMPLETELY. so that means all 4 (i proudly caught up with the rest of the fanpires quickly. i started reading in mid july and was waiting along with the rest of them for about 5 or 6 days for breaking dawn.). twilight is spectacular. edward is amazing. jacob can go blow up in a really dark hole or something, ok?

So I went to volleyball camp. Super. Nothing special there. We did stretches where I couldn’t reach my toes and I’d lose my balance and stuff and then my fifth grade science teacher who also did JV volleyball in my town would laugh at me for it. Pretty basic week. But then, the real fun begins. Camp Greentree (fake name. i’m not letting some online predator kidnap me this coming summer. period.]. My glasses broke. That was fun. My brand-new glasses with square red frames broke in a fight [Hells ya!] Over a chair. That wasn’t too fun. The girl sat on my and I had a couple of nice, big bruises on my thigh and right above my waist. The worst part was explaining it to people. I didn’t want to get the girl in trouble (i wish i wasn’t such a goddamn pushover) so i told people I dropped them until the truth actually came out. Ended up having to get new ones. So the rest of the 2 weeks was pretty solid. My two friends (LOVE them. not just the aim profile love. i love these two. truly, i do) Katy and Katie [confusing? no...] decided we would all sleep in Katy’s tent for Thursday’s overnight in the indian village we created out of sticks (do you truly believe i’m sleeping in a bunch of sticks covered by tarp? hell no. little did we know that katy’s tent was made for one person (aka, one me. I’m almost 6 feet tall), not 3. we didn’t care though. we ate most of our candy before 6 anyway. the tend filled up with our crap, it would be impossible to sleep in “Hey!” Katie exclaimed as we stared into our abyss of a tent, “let’s sleep under the stars!” So we did. We took out our sleeping bags out and layed them on the ground (this was after dinner, the bondfire [which my brother showed up to.. joy], and a wicked intense game of leaves. the most epic card game ever, complete with dancing, singing, and laughs. unfortunatly, i just don’t have the time or energy to take about that. i’m sure that each entry only takes a certin amout of words soo.. the answer for now is no. maybe someday i’ll post the whole story of the night on aeropostale8. if not, too bad. ok? sorry.). We had cards and a lantern and it only 10 so we decided to play a mini game of leaves. Then (oh, then) Elijah comes over. He’s like, 18, he works there and we just taught him leaves. he’s hopelessly addicted. Here are the rules (these MAY BE WRONG. i honestly, don’t remember them all):

*YOU DON’T WANT POINTS!!! POINTS=BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

*PICK WHO ARE BOYS AND WHO ARE GIRLS. MAKE SURE THE NUMBER IS EVEN. THIS IS WICKED IMPORTANT*

*IN GAMES LIKE BUST A RHYME AND QUESTIONS, IT KEEPS GOING. IT DOESN’T STOP ON THE LAST PERSON. IT KEEPS MOVING TILL HESITATION OR REPEAT*

ACE: boom-chicka-boom-boom (everyone gets up. the person who picked the cards starts with a dance move, singing “boom-chicka-boom-boom-chicka-boom!” over and over. when he finishes the first chant, the next person joins the chant and does the first person’s first dance move. then the next joins in and does the first dance move. while that’s happening, the second person’s doing the second move, and the first doing the third. i warn you, this is hard. the first person to mess up gets a point.)

KING: Make a rule (any rule at all for the game. [i.e., no laughing, no shoes, etc] No laughing is HARD when you pick an ace. i warn you not to try with a giggly group. breaking the rule gets a point)

QUEEN: questions. (a personal favorite. any questions in the world. no answering, just questions. hesitations and anything other than a question results in a point)

JACK: Catagories (pick a catagory, any catagory. catagory-picker says “fruits, apple”. everyone goes around and says a fruit. ah… but there are only so many known fruits. repeats and hesitations result in a point)

TWO: Pick someone to get a point

THREE: Card-picker-upper gets a point.

FOUR: Boys get a point

FIVE: smack the table, floor, lap, whatever. failure to do so gets a point

SIX: girls get a point.

SEVEN: reach for heaven. (it’s like nose gos. last one with their hand in the air gets a point. be honest folks, lying in leaves is a really crappy thing to do)

EIGHT: pick a date (boys and girls, girls and girls, boys and boys. it doesn’t matter. leaves loves. you pick another person to be your date. every time you get a point, so do they, but not the other way around. you can pick someone who already as a date. by the end of the game, it’s a very vicious cycle of points.)

NINE: bust a rhyme (pick a word. everyone in the circle has to find a word that rhymes with it. you cannot use orange, purple, silver, etc. it’s just mean, ok? hesitations and repeats get points)

TEN: never have i ever (ok. fun game. 2 fingers never have i ever. i’m sorry parents, this game is mostly based on sex. when i played with katie, katy and elijah i was the most innocent. both fingers up still by the end. ok. so someone says “never have i ever kissed anyone” two of the four people have kissed someone and their fingers go down. the next person says their own never have i ever. if you’ve done it, your finger goes down. first person with none left gets a point)

Ok. I just thought I’d list the rules so that you can better understand the post. OK, so Elijah comes over, demanding a game of leaves. and we HAVe to be quiet. people are sleeping and elijah could get into trouble. more than katie, katy and me. it’s not easy, with all the laughing. and boom-chicka-boom-booming. i’m terrible at it. i’d always loose. then, when someone was coming he’d whisper-yell “hit the lights!” then turn the latern we had on, then off (it was off most of the night). we’d get low to the ground and look like we’re sleeping. soooooooo funny. hard not to laugh. and so the game went on…. until one in the morning, when i finally crashed. katy stayed up all night (not a good idea on her part. she had a drive from massachusetts to new york in the morning and could not sleep in the car. just couldn’t do it.]. katie slept curled up in a sleeping bag on a white plastic chair near katy and me. i slept till 3. then i had to pee. oh, what an adventure that was. my flashlight was in the tent (no flashlight means no light to LOOK for the flashlight) and it was pitch black. many rocks, roots, and things were scattered around the camp. the bathroom was a good quarter mile, maybe, from where our tent stood. And clumsy me, tripping over everything in sight. When we finally got to the bathroom, we were completely blinded by the light. Bright, murderous, angry. It took us a good ten minutes to work our sight back again. And then i was… relieved. the trip back was a doozey. i almost walked into a tree and fell down the stairs leading to the courts. which would’ve killed me. we talked until 5… about everything. boys, body, school, friends, bitches, the whole nine yards. 5 is about when the CITs started to wake up, thus allowing us to start a much-need fire. That was the coldest night i’d ever spent in my life. freezing…. terrible. the fire was started but then (oh, but then), some boys started talking in their tent. that set kim (kim kong, kimzilla… ew.) over the edge. She’s banging on their door and whisper-yelling at them to keep it down. doesn’t seem funny, i know, but you’d have to be there. it was one of the funniest things i’d ever experienced. and so the day began… the last day of camp. and that’s all i have to say on the subject.

when camp ended, i called katie and katy three days later, desperate for company. they came to my house, willingly where we watched juno and select scenes from 27 dress (uh… BENNIE AND THE JETS!!!!!). katie kissed my tv when james marden appeared on the screen. we ate popcorn, cheezits and had a fun but kinda sorta sad time. i haven’t seen them since. but still, columbus day is coming up and i’m hoping to catch up then.

school’s fine. period. nothing to say.

i’m sorry this was more a diary entry than sam renatolli thing. maybe next time.

Love [that's right, i'm capable],

No, I haven’t discovered some sort of disco bra; I’ve discovered the movie 27 Dresses.

There is a great scene where Jane and Kevin are dancing on the bar in some dive singing along to Benny and the Jets by Elton John.

I nearly peed my pants when Jane sings the line “…she’s got electric boobs…”. I was thrilled to discover that someone else had misheard that line in exactly the way I had misheard that line.

Never mind the worn out “…excuse me, while I kiss this guy…” stuff - electric boobs are WAY funnier.

I’ve misheard lots of song lyrics - but this one is my favourite. What song lyrics have you misheard?

Bonus points to those of you who have sung the wrong lyrics in public!

Rss

Resumindo: O filme desenrola e a moça desencalha! ahahah…

Alright peeps, I know this is quite an outdated review by now, but hell, I did not watch any movies this week, so I am going to settle with this. You all may as well know I decide to review 27 Dresses because it is one of my favourites, despite Rotten Tomatoes’s rather average review. Most probably because it features wedding, and those of you who know me know that I love weddings .

The movie stars Katherine Heigl as Jane and James Marsden as Kevin. Jane has been bridesmaid for 27 times, and at the time when she is attending two weddings simultaneously, she met Kevin, who seems apathetic towards weddings, to which Jane does not take lightly.

Jane is in love with her boss, George (played by Ed Burns), but when Jane’s sister, Tess (played by Malin Akerman) comes visiting her, Tess and George get intimately close with each other, which puts Jane in a difficult situation. And at the same time, Kevin is constantly bugging Jane.

Tess and George gets closer till George decides to propose to Tess. Worse than breaking Jane’s heart, Tess wants her to plan her wedding, since she is a great bridesmaid. So, she has to keep her feelings and despair to herself, at the same time, planning her sister’s wedding. In all this chaos, Jane also indirectly gets closer to Kevin.

I think it is a great movie to watch, much fresher than other wedding-themed movies. Instead of focusing on the bride and groom, this movie focuses on the bridesmaid for a change. And that, my fellow readers, is amazing.

Most of the movie my wife makes me sit through involve two halfway-unbearable people falling in love

Most of the movie my wife makes me sit through involve two halfway-unbearable people falling in love, replete with mixed messages and pratfalls.

Not so in Kebab Connection, a German movie that is as much about the boy-meets/loses/amends-girl formula as it is about diapers and dönor kebab.

Ibo is a budding film director of Turkish descent who dreams of making the first German kung-fu movie, but for now he films martial-arts-infused commercials for his uncle’s restaurant, King of Kebab.

At first, his uncle is skeptical at Ibo’s newest commercial which is more Kill Bill than kebab, featuring a sword fight and a talking severed head.

Not long after being “de-uncled,” Ibo is back in good graces when the commercial turns out to be a hit and the kebab shop is reaping all the neighborhood business, much to the dismay of the Greek restaurant owner across the street.

When Ibo learns his German girlfriend is pregnant, he must deal with the pressures of fatherhood, its effect on his film career and his disapproving father, who disowns him, but not his grandchild.

In contrast, a major conflict in the Sex and the City movie is when Carrie cannot find a closet big enough for all her clothes.

One of the problems with watching any foreign-language movie is much of the funny dialogue is lost in translation.

My German-speaking wife was quick to inform me of the funnier bits I was missing.

For example, the time comes for Ibo to change the diaper of a friend’s baby in an effort to learn fatherly duties:

Friend (in German): (holding the baby up) Uh oh, it’s Code Brown.

Friend (in English): Uh oh, it’s diaper time.

Ibo emerges from the room covered in…well you know what he’s covered in. Fortunately, this scene comes late in the movie, thereby avoiding the Excrement Problem.

It goes without saying that code brown is funnier in just about any language.

From what I am told (wife information), the people in European countries who dub movies are minor celebrities. For every George Clooney, there is a Giorgio Clounet.

Often times, the dialog in movies dubbed from English will be enhanced, making it funnier and relatable to the respective audience. The Polish dubbing of Shrek (wife information again) is packed with even raunchier humor than the original.

Whether this means the jokes will be funnier in Mein Dinner mit Hans remains to be seen.

As Ibo’s emotions filter into his next commercial, featuring a gangster gun battle, with the hero clutching the kebab and uttering his last words, “We die for dönor.” When this commercial fails to bring business to his uncles store, Ibo must deal with more family disappointment, getting back into his rapidly pregnant girlfriends good graces, and a gang of street thugs who now want “protection money” for his uncle’s restaurant.

I’m not going to go overboard and say all foreign rom-coms deal with weightier issues than their American counterparts, but 27 Dresses did have 27 dresses in the movie.

But like most movies I have to watch, Kebab Connection ends with the main character making amends with his girlfriend, his father, the street gang, and the Greek restaurant across the street, but all done so to a wedding-themed kung-fu commercial.

In contrast, 27 Dresses ends with 27 more dresses.

Seven Circles of Cinema location: Second, in the Alarmstuffe Braun section

27 reasons why women like me should not watch movies like 27 Dresses:

1. The false feeling of hope and happiness about finding your true love fades as quickly as the closing credits (and the glass of cab you sipped during the film).

2. Men like that don’t exist. And if they do, they’re not single. Unless they have a criminal record.

3. Women like Catherine Heigl are not true representatives of women like us, as shown in the film.

4. Being rude and short with intelligent men like what’s-his-name does NOT make him more attracted to you, nor does it compel him to badger you into a perfect first date that you would not have normally accepted, had it been under normal circumstances. (Most regular guys shrink away and move on to the next object of attention — a willing, doe-eyed, fake-eyelashed, breast-enhanced version of the heroine in the movie, but without the smarts.)

5. It supports the whole Cinderella Meets the Perfect Prince Who Whisks Her Away to HappyEverAfter Land story.

6. Who spends $140 on cab fare to run back and forth between two weddings in one night?

7. Who saves 27 bridesmaid’s dresses in a massive walk-in closet in a New York apartment the size of a sardine can?

8. How much money does this woman make, anyway? She’s Edward Norton’s assistant, an errand girl for an, ok, hip and cool magazine, but seriously: how much CAN they pay her?

9. The wonderful-evil-back-to-wonderful sister always gets the guy.

10. Nobody settles their problems in a quiet conversation — or even a fight. No, it’s over a microphone and slide show at a wedding rehearsal.

11. Why is it always the guy who didn’t mean to publish the story about the girl he loves but who he can’t help writing a scathingly-embarrassing story about, then loses the girl, then wins her back after she has Come to Her Senses about loving him because he helped her discover Who She Really Was?

12. They had my beachfront wedding, and dammit, that’s mine.

13. Who ever gets stuck in their car in a safe-but-vehicle-disabling accident in the woods during a torrential rainstorm and - WAIT - finds a perfect little hole-in-the-wall bar right around the corner that plays Benny & The Jets and is patronized by perfectly nice 30-somethings who play singalong to all the wrong words while you get blastedly drunk with your muse on the bar?

14. Everyone is so quick to forgive. Please. Your sister cuts up your dead mother’s wedding dress to make a horrific concoction of her own for her own failed-before-it-even-began wedding, and you forgive her with barely a mention of it at the end? Please.

15. Nobody has a boss like George (Edward Norton), loves him for so many years while cowering behind the curtain of assistant-dom, then gets a big smooch on the lips and doesn’t throw him down on the desk and have at him. Nobody.

16. Where does all the money in the family come from?

17. Where on earth is her father’s hardware store? Bumpkus, New York?

18. Who plans all those weddings and isn’t smart enough to start a wedding planner business?

19. Okay. Some of it was written intelligently. Like the time that passed between fiasco wedding rehearsal dinner of the fated PowerPoint Presentation and the date of Jane’s beachfront wedding.

20. The cliche’ phrases that you ALL know will be uttered before the actor’s lips even part. adum exampleum: “Is this everything you wanted?” the magically-handsome groom asks on the nuptual platform. “No - it was more,” answers the teary-eyed bride, even while our own sickeningly-disgusted lips form the same words at the same time.

21. Who wrote this script? Geezopeete, I ought to try screen writing. Can I cast the actors?

22. Who turns to look at the groom when the bride makes her grand entrance? You tell me: who?

23. How can someone love weddings that much?

24. Like your boss doesn’t know you had a mad crush on him for ten years, and then he goes after your sister when she steps one skinny, pretty little sequin-encrusted slipper on the dance floor of the company party one night?

25. I suppose some of these things can happen. I mean, men are blind most of the time. Women are pushovers much of the rest of the time, and when you put them together, marriages happen. Explains the 50% divorce rate.

26. I sound as cynical as the wedding article writer in the movie, don’t I?

27. I suppose it was a decent enough flick. It got me at Hello, and kept me through the end credits. And then I booted up my laptop and spent 27 paragraphs writing 27 reasons why I recommend not watching 27 Dresses.

Perhaps, like Jane, just perhaps, I could be wrong.

Eco-friendly actress Cameron Diaz (What Happens In Vegas) is apparently also animal-friendly. The 35 year old blonde airhead took in an injured lost dog over this weekend, and reunited him with his owner, even going to the trouble of later visiting the pet at the vet’s.

Diaz, despite being one of America’s highest paid actresses, is believed by many to be one of the least deserving, most untalented, annoying and ugly A-list actress out there, with people nicknaming her “Pizzaface”, “Joker smile”, or simply “hag”, but I on the contrary think she’s a knockout and one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood. So, what does that say about me? All I know is I’m glad her heart matches her looks (or according to some people, transcends them).

Cameron Diaz will next be seen alongside James Marsden (27 Dresses) and Frank Langella (Superman Returns) in the science-fiction thriller The Box, written & directed by Richard Kelly (Southland Tales) and based on a short story by Richard Matheson (I Am Legend).
