The High Fives

It’s time for the next YAA!!!-season! We hope that you’ve liked all the bands we introduced you so far. With the new season we will also try to do our best to introduce you new awesome bands!

We will start with a band whose members are scattered over whole Sweden. Actually they don’t have a rehearsal room at the moment.

Nevertheless they’ve managed to record their first album, which is called “Work Of Art”.

The band is called “The High Fives“!

The high fives was formed like so many other bands in a very small rehearsal place in a very small town.
The town was Katrineholm and the band was back then just an idea in Tommi Levins(Guitar, vocal) head. But the idea soon became to reality because of the energetic and crazy live shows they performed. The high fives started to build a name in the indie scene with shows like the Hultsfred festival and the rookie tour. Someone said after a high fives show:
- When the high fives play anything can happen. And its true, they are known for being spontaneous and giving the crowd 200% live. After that Tommi found Frederic(Guitar, Backup vocal) just by accident on a ad
online. Frederic was living in Gothenburg, but got excited about the sound and the easy going attitude and soon moved up to Katrineholm to attend school. At the school he met Eric(bass) and also Åke(trumpet). Stefan found Micke (sax) on a party and the line up was complete. 2008 they started the recordings for the debut album “Work of art”. Work of art will be released on November the 3rd and will be followed by a tour in Sweden.

L’album photo “Tournée des Jardínes”

Et voilà, ce fameux projet qui m’a fait manquer 4 journées d’école n’était autre qu’une tournée parmi sept jardínes de la Vallée Sacrée dans lesquels travaillent les volontaires de TAPA. Dix volontaires donc, répartis en deux groupes, je vous le donne en mille : les Frenchies (ou plutôt les franco-suisses) Vs les American Girls.
Il fallait nous voir nous trémousser sur les grands classiques de la chanson enfantine !
Au programme des Frenchies : une chanson espagnole sur les doigts de la main (”La canción de los dedos”) dans laquelle j’interprétais le petit doigt, suivi d’un retentissant “Frère Jacques” en canon à 5 voix, d’”Une souris verte” avec petit théâtre et marionnettes le tout fait main (un bide total…), “J’ai un gros nez rouge”, “Meunier tu dors” (de loin le tube de la tournée) et pour saluer notre jeune public le dernier couplet de la “Canción de los dedos”. Il faut avouer que les American Girls avaient en leur faveur un répertoire un tant soit peu plus énergique qui permettaient aux pitchouns de participer un peu plus. On n’a pas été très bons sur ce coup-là…

Même si arrivés à notre 7ème et dernière représentation, nous nous étions nettement améliorés et que notre programme commençait à trouver son rythme et son public, je crois définitivement qu’aucun d’entre nous n’a eu de révélation quant à un changement de carrière soudain. Dur, dur de s’improviser artiste pour minots ! Imaginez le trac de chaque volontaire à l’arrivée dans son école lorsqu’il a du chanter devant ses propres élèves, tiraillé entre son rôle d’artiste devant réussir à se faire apprécier de son public et celui de professeur priant pour que ses élèves soient dans un bon jour et se montrent un tant soit peu indulgent avec lui. Et c’est sans parler des fous-rires et des bides monumentaux qui nous ont obligés de jardín en jardín à revoir notre programme, enlevant, cherchant, testant et rajoutant chansons et autres jeux français.

Pour le côté sérieux de la chose, ce projet nous a aussi permis de visiter les autres jardínes, et ainsi de nous rendre compte des différences entre chacun (locaux, professeurs, enseignement, élèves,…) et de prendre un peu de recul sur nos propres jardínes. Parmi ces différences apparaissent assez vite le manque de matériel dans la plupart des écoles et également la salubrité des locaux (la classe d’Elodie à Calca ne possède pas de sol faute de moyens).

Nous visitons entre autres une garderie pour les tout-petits située à Yucay (un de nos meilleurs publics). Le local est presque vide tellement cette garderie possède peu de choses. Une douzaine d’enfants et seulement 4 lits (du coup ils les font dormir par sessions…) et seulement quelques jouets.
Nous visitons également l’école “Señor de Vara” dans laquelle travaille Robin, une américaine. Cette école accueille des enfants âgés de 4 à 18 ans, atteints de trisomie et de différents handicaps physiques et mentaux. Ici, les enfants font des ateliers de poterie avec l’aide de leurs professeurs qu’ils peignent ensuite afin de les vendre sur le marché, permettant ainsi à l’école de subvenir à ses besoins et de racheter du matériel. Et dans cette école, contrairement à Media Luna, les enfants ont toute liberté quant à leur expression artistique et du coup ne manquent pas de créativité !

Comme d’habitude, quelques situations nous surprennent et nous attristent, nous laissant bien impuissants. Parmi ces situation, il y a celle de Marco qui va à l’école “Piste” à Calca. Du haut de ses 5 ans, ce petit bonhomme cumule 2 handicaps, l’un l’empêchant de tenir sur ses deux jambes (ce qui l’oblige à se déplacer à 4 pattes ou avec l’aide d’un déambulateur fabriqué maison par un ancien volontaire), l’autre le privant d’une bonne partie de sa vue. Mais comme si cela ne suffisait pas, il vit seul avec sa grande soeur de 10 ans qui doit prendre soin de lui car leurs parents habitent loin et la maman passe une fois par mois tout au plus pour voir si tout va bien… Inutile de préciser que ce petit garçon ne profite pas d’un enseignement adapté à ses besoins (si tant est qu’il en existe ici) car sa professeur qui n’a pas d’assistante (hormis un volontaire de temps à autre) ne peut guère s’occuper de lui. Et évidemment la situation ne semble gêner personne, aucune famille du village ni institution ne s’insurge ou ne propose de s’occuper d’eux ne serait-ce que contre une compensation. Mais, envers et contre tout, et bien qu’un peu perdu au milieu de tous ses camarades surexcités, Marco nous a bien surpris par sa vivacité et son intelligence.
Marco est à l’image de tous les enfants que nous avons vu pendant ces 4 jours. Bien que leurs écoles n’aient pas grand-chose à leur offrir, tous font preuve d’une immense joie de vivre et crèvent d’envie de la partager dès qu’ils en ont l’occasion.

Ceci étant dit, à la fin de cette tournée et malgré mon manque d’objectivité flagrant, je suis obligée de décerner une mention spéciale à mes élèves de Media Luna qui ont été sages comme des images et ont participé avec entrain au spectacle !

If we talk about the exchange rate of currency, it jumped from 30 million Zimbabwean dollars to one U.S. dollar on Friday, to 100 million to a US dollar on Monday!

Some of the major gainers in individual stocks are -

• Government-controlled Zimpapers, which gained 3,471 %
• Cement maker Lafarge saw their share price rise 1,400 %

But everyone does not consider it to be another bubble ready to burst. With the newest listings in the mining sector. Zimbabwe has vast untapped mineral wealth including gold, diamonds and platinum. Munyukwi said markets were driven by strong, cheap assets which are offering returns that were more than matching inflation. He said -

“Some people think that this is a bubble about to burst, but I don’t think so.”

But he did agree that the market was largely overvalued in Zimbabwean dollar terms but said it is undervalued in U.S. dollars. And volumes being traded are very small and there was no real movement year on year.

So what lies in future, for Zimbabwe?

God help Zimbabwe…or rather Warren Buffet could better answer this question…isn’t it??

Quanto ao tema de hoje: Muitos alunos e leitores me perguntam sobre um tema bacana no VB.NET: CLR.

Vamos entender o que significa esta sopinha de letras.

CRL é um dos principais componentes da .NET Framework - conhecida como Common Language Runtime. Propício a aplicações, a CLR fornece vários facilidades/vantagens para o desenvolvedor:

• Tratamento de erros
• Segurança
• Depuração
• Controle de versão

Estas vantagens estão disponíveis em qualquer linguagem criada para a CLR. Isto quer dizer que a CLR pode servir a uma variedade de linguagens e pode oferecer um conjunto comum de ferramentas para estas linguagens.  A Microsoft criou o VB .NET, como uma das principais linguagens para a CLR. E não é que deu certo?!

“Quando um compilador compila, ele o faz para a CLR, o código gerado é chamado de código gerenciado. Código gerenciado é simplesmente código que tira vantagem dos serviços oferecidos pela CLR.”

Quantas novidades!

Recebi esta semana dois convites de sites renomados para escrever artigos periódicos. Um deles é um  outro site forte em IT e um outro em RH de grande vizibilidade no mercado. Oficializado, comunicarei quem são.

Muitos que por aqui nos acompanham já sabem que escrevo há alguns anos para o Yahoo (Brasil), Imasters e 40 Graus. E agora lá vem mais dois fortes meios de comunicação via Internet.

O artigo nº 66, da lei 9504, de 1997, garante que os partidos têm o direito de conhecer, antecipadamente, “os programas de computador a serem usados na urna eletrônica”. No entanto, só neste ano a lei foi cumprida, com os fiscais de todos os partidos tendo acesso, por cinco dias, ao código fonte dos programas e podendo acompanhar o processo de compilação do software.

O código fonte é a linguagem em que o programador escreve o programa e a compilação é a transformação dessas informações em linguagem da máquina. Para o professor da Universidade de Brasília, Pedro Antônio Dourado Rezende, o tempo de cinco dias é pequeno para realizar a fiscalização completa. “Para se ter uma idéia, o mais recente sistema operacional da urna utiliza o Windows CE, que tem mais de 2 milhões de linhas de código”, afirma.

O software da urna eletrônica é composto por três partes principais: o sistema operacional, o aplicativo com o nome dos candidatos e um sistema de criptografia dos dados. Em 2000, foram usadas 400 mil urnas com o sistema operacional VirtuOS. Para este ano, o Tribunal Regional Eleitoral encomendou mais 50 mil urnas, que utilizarão o Windows CE, da Microsoft. “O Windows CE é um sistema praticamente inauditável, devido ao seu tamanho e aos truques que a Microsoft usa para dificultar a compreensão do código fonte dos seus produtos”, afirma Rezende. O Windows CE é um sistema comercial e seu código fonte é um segredo da empresa que o produz.

Para aumentar a segurança da urna alguns especialistas sugerem a adoção de software livre. Como princípio, o software livre tem seu código fonte aberto e pode ser alterado, modificado e compartilhado por qualquer um. Um exemplo é o sistema operacional GNU/Linux. “Idealmente o software da urna deveria ser aberto”, afirma o engenheiro Amílcar Brunazzo Filho, especializado em segurança de dados. O analista de sistemas da Unicamp, Rubens Queiroz, enfatiza a maior segurança do código aberto. “Quanto mais gente olhando o código, melhor, maiores são as chances de serem encontrados erros”, afirma. Para Pedro Rezende, da UnB, o sistema livre favorece um melhor dimensionamento do sistema, dada sua maior flexibilidade. Ele também reforça as melhorias com relação à segurança. “A natureza do sistema eleitoral determina que a segurança deve ser medida pela transparência. O sigilo eleitoral deve se restringir apenas à identificação da natureza do voto”, conclui.

Web’s Best 2 for 1 Pizza Discount Finder

In a yet to be published interview with Eurogamer, David Reeves from SCEE has given a date for PlayTV. It will launch around Europe between September and December starting with the UK on September the 10th. He also confirmed it WILL allow you to record while playing a game, and that this was enabled added in 2.41. Austrailia and New Zealand will get it January or February. It has previously been reported to cost €99 (around £70).

The new update has been released and is ready for you to download. This update is to fix all the issue’s we had when 2.40 was release last week. Also the trophies look a little diffrerent.

After some problems were discovered with the 2.40 firmware for their PlayStation 3 console, Sony pulled the update and got to work trying to fix things (as you might recall, some users ended up with bricked consoles after applying the 2.40 update).

Good news–Sony has fixed things and the 2.41 update is now available so go grab it if you have a PS3.

Por fin. Tras muchos meses de espera, y tras la inesperada retirada de la actualización 2.40 por un problema con algunos usuarios que eran incapaces de visualizar su XMB tras su instalación, Sony ha lanzado hoy la tan ansiada actualización 2.41 que, como todos ya sabréis, ofrece algunas de las características más demandadas por los jugadores, como el acceso a XMB (XrossMediaBar), con el que los jugadores podrán acceder al menú de PS3 en cualquier momento; y la inclusión de los llamados trofeos, que reconoce los logros de los jugadores en la arena online. Esta nueva actualización 2.41 arregla todos los problemas surgidos con la versión 2.40, manteniendo su contenido original.

Lo más buscado en google.com a estas horas es la actualización 2.41 del firmware de la PS3:

Ce matin en allumant ma ps3 j’ai du faire la mise a jour 2.41, personnellement je n’ai pas eu le moindre soucie avec le firmware 2.40 mais j’imagine la tête des joueurs qui l’avais louper en la voyant ce matin! Sony nous a concocter cette mise a jour en moins de deux car la version 2.40 présenter certains bug sur les models 60GB (heureusement pour moi que ma ps3 na rien eu) bref je souhaite que cette nouvelle maj ne causera pas de dégât contrairement a sa petite sœur…………

Looks like the software engineers at Sony have finished tweaking firmware 2.40. The much-anticipated firmware update included crucial features, like in-game XMB and trophies, but was pulled shortly after its release due to reports of bricked systems. Now, a few days after the controversial removal of firmware 2.40 from Sony’s servers, firmware 2.41 is now available to download worldwide.

Hopefully, all goes smoothly with this update. Those lucky enough to have 2.40 working on their systems know that in-game XMB works incredibly well, and trophy support is absolutely addictive. Now, PS3 owners en masse will be able to enjoy these features.

Looks like Sony have fixed the issues that users experienced with 2.40, and have released Firmware 2.41 this is now the latest version and should work without a hitch.

Firmware 2.41 Changelist (Not Official)

• Added New Trophy for Platinum Stage.
• Fixed issue where Firmware was bricking consoles.
• Added 4th Tab to show last game played along with the time.
• Improved the speed and responsiveness of In-Game XMB.
• Improved speed and respnsiveness of Gamer Cards.
• Fixed Crashing while using In-Game XMB in certain games.

Sony has now released firmware 2.41 for those people unfortunate enough to be missing out on ingame XMB and trophies (not that there are many games supporting trophies still).

Sony pulled the plug on firmware 2.40 after reports of the firmware bricking PS3 consoles, it wasnt a big volume of reports but was enough for Sony to remove it from the update servers and the SuperstardustHD update. The wait is now over though so if you havent got trophy support or ingame XMB go turn your little black box on and get downloading it, hopefully 2.41 wont have any major problems.

Hitting sooner than some had anticipated, Sony’s 2.40 redo, PS3 firmware version 2.41, is now available for download on a PS3 near you. Hopefully things end up better than the last 2.4x firmware!

EDIT: As a side note, here’s a little feature that was apparently added into firmware 2.40: You can now select an option, when deciding whether to download a firmware update, that will have the PS3 console automatically turn off after the update has been downloaded. Not quite up to the level of the Xbox 360’s ability to download things while the console is turned off, but nifty nonetheless.
