Din seria “Astazi este ziua TA, zi frumoasa ca tine”, abia acum am reusit sa scriu un post despre tot ce s-a intamplat marti seara (24 iunie) si respectiv miercuri dimineata (25 iunie).

Va multumesc tuturor celor care mi-ati trimis mesaje, mailuri, felicitari si celor care ati fost alaturi de mine la petrecerea mea. Le multumesc si celor care s-au autoinvitat dovedindu-mi astfel cat de mult ma iubesc (am zis-o fara rautate, imi cer scuze ca nu am avut loc sa ii chem pe toti prietenii /colegii mei, care au fost langa mine in ultimii ani).

Pe scurt: flori, parfum, accesorii (si Swarowski chiar), tricouri (cica: Guaranted Silicon Free!, mersi de compliment prieteni!) si o groaza de alte lucruri frumoase… De fapt, nu pentru asta am scris acest blog, ci pentru a le multumi si aici pentru tot (am atasat o mica galeria foto cu atentiile voastre, nu le-am atasat pe toate, dar sa stiti ca pe toate le indragesc!). Pupici la toti.

Cea mai mare surpriza mi-a facut-o Florin Budea (redactor la Bihoreanul), care mi-a adus special la firma, exact pe biroul meu, cartea lui denumita “Politrucuri”, care mi-o doream de foarte mult timp. E incredibil! Multumirile nu sunt indeajuns pentru valoarea lui.

Multumiri din suflet inca o data pentru tot … sper ca de fiecare data sa o facem si mai si mai lata!

Every year, on the 24^th June, the Orthodox people in Romania celebrate the great martyr and saint John the New of Suceava (in Romanian: Sfantul Mare Mucenic Ioan cel Nou de la Suceava).Here you can find a short article about his life.

His relics are kept in the monastery which bears his name and which is located in the centre of Suceava town. Here is a photo of the monastery:

On this day, lots of people from all over Romania and even Ukraine (the border with Ukraine is very close to the town of Suceava) come here on a pilgrimage to pray and touch the relics of the saint.

The pilgrimage usually starts on the 23^rd of June, early in the morning, when the priests move the sarcophagus with the relics of the saint outside the church, under the lime trees in the monastery’s courtyard. In the evening, the priests pray together with the pilgrims until late at night. Lots of pilgrims choose to spend the night near the relics of the saint praying individually. In the morning they attend the liturgy. After the liturgy, the relics of the saint are carried throughout the town. They say it always rains on this day.

More than 15, 000 people came to Suceava this year to pray because it is believed that the relics can perform miracles and bring health and happiness. Here are a few photos and a short video.

 Despre Sfântul Ioan Botezătorul, cel numit şi „Înaintemergătorul şi Botezătorul Domnului”, s-au spus multe lucruri. Dar cel mai bine a vorbit despre dânsul Însuşi Domnul Iisus, Cel care l-a numit cu admiraţie pe Ioan: „Cel mai mare decât toţi cei născuţi din femei” (Matei 11, 11). Cu el s-a sfârşi lungul şir al profeţilor Vechiului Testament, cu el avea să înceapă lungul şir al sfinţilor Noului Testament. A fost încă din timpul vieţii o personalitate a cărei sfinţenie  au recunscut-o până şi duşmanii săi. A rămas în conştiinţa întregii creştinătăţi ca cel mai mare dintre sfinţi.

Ziua de 24 iunie este aceea în care comemorăm naşterea sa. O naştere minunată, căci el a fost rodul rugăciunii şi al unei făgăduinţe sfinte a părinţilor săi – preotul Zaharia şi soţia sa Elisabeta, rudă cu Fecioara Maria. Pentru că nu au putut avea copii, ei s-au rugat ani la rând, cu stăruinţă şi credinţă, ca Dumnezeu să-i binecuvinteze cu un prunc, cel mai de preţ dar pentru o familie. Naşterea celui cu care aveau să fie binecuvântaţi, a fost vestită de Arhanghelul Gavriil, cel care a binevestit mai târziu şi Fecioarei Maria. Întreaga sa viaţă a fost una dedicată slujirii lui Dumnezeu şi pregătirii activităţii mântuitoare a Domnului Iisus. „Pocăiţi-vă căci s-a apropiat Împărăţia cerurilor!…Gătiţi calea Domnului, drepte faceţi cărările Lui în loc neumblat…”(Matei 3,2-3)  – sunt cuvintele profetice prin care Ioan îl vestea pe Marele Învăţător şi Mântuitor.

În tradiţia populară românească, această zi este una deosebită. Ea este cunoscută cu numele de Sânzienele sau Drăgaica (marcând înjumătăţirea anului). Potrivit tradiţiilor populare, din această zi nu mai cântă cucul, iar soarele străluceşte mai frumos. Florile numite Sânziene (Galium verum) se culeg în această zi de pe pajişti, de către fete şi feciori, se fac cununi care se sfinţesc în biserici şi sunt atârnate pe la uşi, ferestre sau streşini, cu credinţa că au darul să alunge duhurile rele, prin puterea Botezatorului Ioan. De numele acestei sărbători de leagă multe tradiţii, credinţe şi obiceiuri populare, multe datând încă din perioada precreştină.

Every year, on June 24, the Romanians celebrate the most spectacular pagan holiday of the year: Sanzienele . This night it is believed to be magic, miracles are possible, beneficial forces, but also negative ones, arriving at the top of their powers.
The celebration has its origins in an ancient solar cult. The name is probably taken after “Sancta Diana”, the forest goddess.

The origin of these traditions goes far back in time and their Dacian name is forgotten. The Roman name, “Sanziana”, coming from “Sancta Diana” is still used in Transylvania and the Slavonic one, “ Dragaica”, is still in use in Walachia and Oltenia.

The legends say that Sanzienele are some very beautiful girls, who live in forests or plains. They start a dance called “hora” and give special power to flowers and weeds, turning them into miraculous medicinal plants, good for all the diseases. The legends say that during this night fairies fly through the air or walk on earth. They sing and bring fertility to crops and to married women, to birds and animals, cure the sick, defend sown fields from hail. If people do not celebrate them in an appropriate way, they are upset, and take revenge.

This day also represents an opportunity for young people who want to unite their destinies to meet, a celebration of love, done by singing and dancing. On the eve, girls and boys who are going to marry get together in each village. There are fairs and everyone is merry. The boys build bonfires, while the girls pick up yellow wild flowers that are also called “sanziene”. It’s a small yellow inflorescence rich in polen and smelling of hay and honey. The girls make garlands for themselves, for their home and for each member of the family. Then they go home and, at the sunset, they hang some of the wreaths to the doors, windows, barns, stables etc.and they throw the remaining ones on the roof of the house. If it stays there, it’s the sign that person will marry next year, if not, this will have to wait. For the old ones, the falling wreath means there will be no other such holiday. The higher it stops on the roof, the longer the life ahead.

The ceremonial then includes the entire village. After the dark, men and boys go on the hills carrying torches that they turn around making them burn and spark intensely. It’s a contest and they cheer and shout as they do it. After midnight, when the torches are almost burnt out, they go down the hills, where girls and women join. They build a fire and jump over it for luck.

This day, which marks the middle of summer, was considered to be the best time to collect medicinal plants.
All are now making weather forecasts in order to determine the best time that autumn for wheat sowing. The dew that falls this night has magical powers, too. If you wash your face with it you will be good-looking and if you pick it from the flowers at dawn your bones will not hurt. Any object left outside during the night and wet with the dew can be an amulet.

This is supposed to be the day the cuckoo grows mute, turns into a hawk and leaves for the mountains, furious on the birds that can still sing. (Actually, the day when the cuckoo leaves is a total mystery and there is a proverb that says: ”The women will understand what men think when they will know the day the cuckoo leaves.”)

This night is one of peace and quiet, when storms never happen and even the wind is silent.

“Hotarul proorocilor si incepatura Apostolilor, pe ingerul cel pamantesc si omul cel ceresc, glasul Cuvantului, pe ostasul si Inaintemergatorul lui Hristos cel din fagaduinta, cel ce in pantece mai inainte a saltat si intai a propovaduit mai inainte de a se naste pe Soarele dreptatii, astazi Elisabeta l-a nascut, si s-a bucurat; si s-a minunat Zaharia la batranete, amutirea aceea ce era ca o legatura lepadand, si ca un parinte al glasului a proorocit prea aratat ca tu, pruncule, prooroc al Celui prea-inalt te vei chema, si vei merge sa gatesti caile Lui.

Pentru aceasta, ingere, proorocule, apostole, ostasule, Inaintemergatorule, Botezatorule si propovaduitorule al pocaintei, si indreptatorule al luminii, ca un glas al Cuvantului, roaga-te neincetat pentru noi, care cu credinta savarsim pomenirea nasterii tale”.[1]

“Glasul proorocului Isaia s-a implinit astazi, prin nasterea lui Ioan celui mai mare inte prooroci, ca a zis: Iata voi trimite pe ingerul Meu inaintea Fetei Tale, care va gati calea Ta inaintea Ta. Pentru ca ostasul acesta al Imparatului ceresc mai inainte mergand, cu adevarat drepte a facut cararile Dumnezeului nostru, om adica dupa fire, si inger cu viata fiind; ca iubind curatia in chip desavarsit si infranarea a avut-o dupa fire, si a alergat spre cea peste fire, mai presus de fire nevoindu-se. Acestuia toti credinciosii cu fapte bune urmandu-i, sa ne rugam, ca sa se roage pentru noi, sa se mantuiasca sufletele noastre”.[2]

“Vezi pe Elisabeta graind catre Fecioara Maria: Ce ai venit la mine Maica Domnului meu? Tu porti pe Imparatul si eu pe ostasul; tu pe Datatorul de Lege, iar eu pe puitorul de lege; tu pe Cuvantul, si eu pe glasul cel ce a propovaduit Imparatia Cerurilor”.[3]
