Charley Dixon, the EMT whom Sarah was going to marry, is now getting more face time as Season 2 begins. At the very end of the pilot, his eyes turn red, indicating he’s a machine (during the pilot I waited for everyone’s eyes to turn red, including the black guy’s).

Apparently I’m the only one who remembers Charley’s red eyes. No one on the message boards of the show has commented about this, and like a fool, I didn’t bother to Tivo the pilot. If you know or have an theory about what’s going on, feel free to drop a line.

I like SCC, it’s a good example of how likable/lovable characters and imagination can transcend otherwise necessarily simple-minded stories.

Fear and Loathing in Los Angeles

24 Sep 08 UPDATE: I watched the pilot again, this time online. Near the very end when Charley is watching the “new” footage of Sarah in 2007 his eyes don’t turn red, so during or after the “writers’” strike they must’ve decided to retool the character. I’ll be damned if I’m the only one who remembers Charlie was implied to be a Terminator before Skynet dropped this plot point down the memory hole.

Recently I have taken an interest in runes. They were used by many across Europe. The ones seen here are of Northern Europe, where Germanic tribes founded them. Saxons used them too.

Now, much like I say with my use of tarot cards I do not believe that their uses are magical at all. Instead I say it has a more lasting effect. The mind races involuntarily to connect the variables on the cards or runes to those of their own life. This in many cases is sadly mistaken as magic.

Ahem, anyways this young lady in this picture is a friend named Jen. She is very nice and even helped create the ZHC as we explored in my last post. After shortly researching Runes I made my first product of them. I don’t know what to call it, perhaps a “Rune Ruler”. It won’t measure anything of course, but it will (hopefully) give Jen a sense of aid from Family & Friends, knowledgeable support, new beginnings, and overall protection in her darkest hours. And at it’s bottom, this ”sideways 8″ isn’t actually a Rune to my understanding, but it’s sort of my trademark and it also represents eternity, meaning this gift will last forever.

Above is the guide I bought at Borders (for only $6.99!) and I recommend it to those who are interested. You can make amulets, talismans, carve runes, etc! I find it very exciting to be active with something so rich in history. I do find it spiritual, but there is a difference between magic and spiritual interest. I see it as a way to guide my own mind, and the better the path, the closer my essence reaches a true void.

 Aww, the above is my second creation. The stone means simply “New Beginnings”. Quite sadly it’s written in marker, I have yet to master the art of carving. Though I do know what material I’ll use when I’m ready: soap stone, easy to carve and well, it’s easy!

Whether you are a sceptic or a believer you cannot deny our end. To do so would disbelieve our own beginning, our own existence. And if no such monsterous creature, no demon as if a zombie lurks beneath hallowed cracks of earth, why not await a nightmare with a shield at the ready?

Imaginem se do nada as mulheres não conseguem mais engravidar e ficam nessa por mais de 15 anos sem saber o porque. O resultado provavelmente seria o caos, com a população envelhecendo e sabendo que logo não restará mais ninguém vivo.

Esse é o cenário de “Filhos da Esperança”, onde além disso tudo, em Londres no ano de 2027 os imigrantes não são mais bem vindos, mas não são mesmo, com direito a serem enviados a uma espécie de campo de concentração.

O roteiro é bem coeso e se da muito bem ao elaborar um futuro caótico e dividido em grupos violentos. É um filme muito bem feito e possui locações e cenários muito bem construídos, seja na Londres de 2027 ou no campo de imigrantes em conflito. Vale dizer que o filme foi indicado a 41 diferentes prêmios, incluindo 4 Oscars, tendo vencido 17 deles.
