Gnosiomania is the annual Quizzing fest organised by Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad. In its sixth year of existence the fest has evlolved from a mere quizzing fest to a multifaceted event which aims to reach out to masses of staggering proportions. The quizzing nature of the event notwithstanding, Gnosiomania has something for everyone. Be it the business events for the corporate minded or the Literary events for those with a sharp tongue, English drama for the young thespians and the informal events for everyone to just come out and have a ball.

Entrepreneurship Summit 2009

Entrepreneurship Summit, a two-day event organised by Entrepreneurship Cell IIT Kharagpur, is one of the biggest platforms in India for academicians, new-age entrepreneurs, eminent business personalities, venture capitalists, and students alike, to gather and share their entrepreneurial endeavours and experiences, and to pledge to take Entrepreneurship in India to greater scales.

Entrepreneurship Summit ’09, the third edition of the Summit, is scheduled for 10th and 11th January, 2009. It aims at promoting entrepreneurial awareness among the students, and will witness varieties of guest lectures by distinguished speakers, panel discussions, focused workshops and a host of events such as Case Study analysis, Business Ideas competition, etc. This year’s summit is part of the Entrepreneurship Week that is being celebrated in IIT Kharagpur, starting from the 2nd of January.

The week kick starts with a guest lecture by 3Com and Finisar Director, Dominique Trempont Forbes Profile, accompanied by spouse Sramana Mitra, who is also a Silicon Valley Entrepreneur, has founded 3 companies, and is a strategy consultant for over 70 companies including SAP, Cadence etc.

The summit also includes a Venture Funding Conference, which will showcase the launch of Global Ventures Lab. It is a collaborative effort of IIT Kharagpur, University of California Berkley (UCB), USA and University of Jyvaskyla, Finland to promote Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Event: Kshitij 2009 (Website)

Kshitij is the annual techno-management fest of IIT Kharagpur. The fest aims to put students of all Engineering and Management Institutes under the common flag of free participation and free knowledge. During the fest, students get the break to intermingle and collaborate to conceive and execute ideas, plans and presentations. They are presented with an opportunity to use their skills and expertise in the fields of science, technology and management. Students share knowledge and information and also get a good amount of exposure to today’s fast moving and competitive world.

Kshitij ‘08 was a huge success with about 3,500 outstation students coming in from different corners of the country. The creme de la creme were enthralled by thought-provoking speeches by Co- Founder of Wikipedia Mr. Jimmy Donal Wales, The father of Nano-Technology Mr. Eric Drexler , A world famous theoretical physicist and author of the bestseller ‘Physics of Star-trek’ ,Prof. Lawrence M. Krauss. There was also a video conference by Nobel Laureate in Chemistry for genetic information transfer from DNA to RNA, Prof. Roger D Kornberg. The participants were captivated by interactive guest lecture from Mr. Dilip Chhabria, the famous car designer. Inspiring and informative workshops were conducted on Rocketry, Microfinance, cryptology, kite modeling and carbon trading.

MIT Legatum Fellowship

• Admitted to a graduate degree program at MIT (Both incoming students and current students enrolled for the following academic year are eligible.)
• An MIT student for the duration of the fellowship.

The Legatum Center administers a competitive fellowship program for incoming and current MIT graduate students who wish to develop viable enterprise solutions to meet challenges in low-income countries. The fellowship provides funding, seminars and business creation coaching, and opportunities for our Fellows to interact with world-renowned entrepreneurs, thought-leaders and investors.

Legatum Fellowship Commitment
Legatum Fellows are required to participate in regular Fellows-only seminars, Center events (Legatum Lectures, networking lunches and dinners, etc.), and to submit a viable business plan for implementation in a low-income country. The Center seeks Legatum Fellows who are committed to implementing their business plans upon graduating from MIT, and to providing the Center with regular updates on their enterprise(s).

• Apply for admission to a graduate degree program at MIT(MBA, SM, PhD, etc.).Only those who receive admission offers and apply for the fellowship will be reviewed by the Legatum Fellowship Selection Committee.

For Re-Applicants:

Motivated youth between the ages of 18-25 Years

Jagriti Yatra is an annual train journey that will take 400 of India’s highly motivated youth between the ages of 18-25 on a sixteen day national odyssey, introducing them to unsung heroes of India. The aim is to awaken the spirit of entrepreneurship – both social and economic within India’s youth by exposing them to individuals and institutions that are developing unique solutions to India’s challenges. Through this national event we will inspire them to lead and develop institutions nationally and within their communities.

Youth are increasingly celebrity conscious, while those Indians who have made lasting social and economic impact are often not visible as role models. The Jagriti Yatra aims to showcase inspiring success stories by taking young Indians to meet these “real heroes”. These role models, located around the country particularly in rural and semi urban India will demonstrate how social and economic enterprise has succeeded. We propose to engage the national media to act as a multiplier of this message by projecting it to the millions of Indians who will watch this journey unfold across the country, and become an annual event. With this we seek to awaken the aspiration of ‘being the change’ in the youth of India.

Jagriti Yatra aims at having extensive impact. Raising awareness in college campuses assisted by media campaigns with jingles, slogans and posters crafted to appeal to youth in metros but also the vast non-English speaking heartland, including reliance on SMS and mobile networks to reach beyond those who are not connected through internet.

Distinguished mentors from various fields will also be selected to come on board as facilitators, upon invitation by this distinguished panel. We also intend to attract eminent personalities are honored by the confirmation of participation of Kiran Bedi, Mark Tully and possibly Dr Rajendra Pachauri, all of whom took part in the last Yatra.
