About:
Samadhan is a social entrepreneurship B-Plan competition organized by Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), IIT Roorkee. It is an initiative to encourage budding entrepreneurs to realize their dreams. Samadhan believes that economic growth must be multiplexed with social equity for the nation to move forward. It is this thinking which has led to the birth of Samadhan.For the last three years, Samadhan has been encouraging  the  idea of social entrepreneurship successfully .

Samadhan 08 is aimed to encourage yet to be Entrepreneurs to pursue Social Entrepreneurship as their career. The theme of Samadhan 08 is “Rural Infrastructure”. The main idea of chosing this theme is to create an awareness among the Youth to involve a majority of rural population 60-70% to the mainstream of progress, as the Nation marches forward to become a developed nation by 2020. There requires a huge input from the youth to address the problems of rural infrastructure of our nation. This plan is to bring in the Innovative ideas that addresses the problem of rural people to the forefront.

First an executive summary is to be submitted, if selected then mentoring process will be augmented to bring in an Innovative Business to reality that has the capacity to change the lives of poor people.

About:
The Sarai programme of the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, Delhi has announced fellowships for projects related to Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS) activities. The fellowships are funded by the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI),  which seeks to promote Indian language computing, and network technology needs for India in the FLOSS domain. The Indian Linux Users’ Group, Delhi (ILUG-D) has also agreed to be technical partners on this year’s fellowship projects, and will be involved in the selection of proposals, and the monitoring of projects.

Areas for working on Projects:

• Localization of user interfaces into Indian languages, and the translation of documentation for FLOSS applications.
• Indian language computing, including work on fonts, rendering, locales, input methods, spell-checking, etc., as well as in advanced technologies like optical character recognition (OCR), handwriting recognition, and speech-to-text.
• Research on networking technologies relevant to the spread of the Internet in India, to the use of Indian-language domain names, and enabling a migration to IPv6.
• In the interest of sustained development, we would like to see the enhancement of, and extensions for projects funded as part of past Sarai FLOSS fellowships. In particular, we draw attention to Hindi automated speech recognition (http://sourceforge.  net/projects/hindiasr/), NewsRack (http://newsrack.in), and Hindawi (http://www.indicybers.com).
• Documentation for users of FLOSS tools, particularly in the area of Indian language computing.
• Projects involving cutting-edge technology, especially in the domains of mobile computing, embedded devices, robotics, GPS, GIS, and location-based services.

About KVPY:
The “Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana” (KVPY) is a programme started during 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India to encourage students of Basic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to take up research careers in these areas. Generous scholarship and contingency grant is provided (up to the Pre-Ph.D. level) to the selected students.

The selection of students from those who are studying +1, +2, any U.G. Programme including First/Second year Engineering/Medicine are carried out by IISc (Bangalore), IIT-Bombay (Mumbai), and ICMR (New Delhi), respectively, in association with two Zonal Centres one at Kolkata (Indian Institute of Science Education Research, Kolkata) and another at Mumbai (HBCSE, TIFR). There are special groups or committees set up at IISc, IIT and ICMR which screen the applications, conduct interviews at various centres, make the final selection and attend to follow-up matters.

The International Conference on ‘Computing and Communication System for High Performance Applications’[CCSHPA] focuses on the communication requirements directly induced or required by computing systems. An essential element of modern day distributed and high performance computing systems is the trade-off in the amount of computation versus the amount of communication performed. Certain applications are inherently communication-intensive. In others, communication steps may be replaceable with local computations and vice versa. At the same time, systems resources may support large communication requirements. In other systems, physical or power constraints may limit the communication support. This conference provides a venue for scholarly publication that explores issues relating to the combined effects of communications and computations in the context of modern computing systems. Following the recent broadening of the field of parallel and distributed computing, CCSHPA covers all current research endeavors in this field. Submissions are also encouraged from researchers in other areas of computing and from related areas in communication, computer engineering or other areas of study whose work supports the focus of this conference.

Project SailFin:
Project SailFin is a subproject under GlassFish. It adds the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) servlet container based on JSR 289 to the GlassFish application server. In addition to the SIP servlet container, SailFin also aims to provide high availability of the SIP servlet container and a loadbalancer for both SIP and HTTP traffic. Given the functionality, the SailFin codebase requires GlassFish as its underlying runtime. The theme of the Research conference is “Current Human Resource & Marketing Issues Impacting Sunrise Sectors in India”.The 3rd National Research Conference on “Current Human Resource and Marketing Issues Impacting Sunrise Sectors in India” aims to bring leading academicians, research scholars, B-school students and professionals on a common platform to share their research findings, views and opinions.

Objectives of the Conference:

• Develop increased awareness about key challenges facing India’s sunrise industries like IT, ITES, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, KPO’s, Retail etc.
• Provide a platform to academicians, professionals and researchers to discuss the future direction of research in the above sectors.
• Expand knowledge on tools & techniques of research methodology.
