<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The <a href="http://www.iihf.com/home-of-hockey/championships/world-championships/canada-2008.html"><strong><span style="color:#993300;">2008 Ice Hockey World Championship</span></strong></a> is about to begin in Canada later today with this year's tournament being held from May 2nd to May 18th in <a href="http://www.answers.com/topic/halifax?cat=travel"><span style="color:#003300;"><strong>Halifax</strong></span></a> and <a href="http://www.answers.com/topic/quebec?cat=travel"><span style="color:#003366;"><strong>Quebec City</strong></span></a>.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>COLORADO SPRINGS, CO AND LOS ANGELES &#8212; Although the <a href="http://www.kingshockey.com" target="_blank">Online Kingdom</a> has known about it since the the 2007-08 season ended for the <a href="http://kings.nhl.com" target="_blank">Los Angeles Kings</a> a few days ago, <a href="http://www.usahockey.com" target="_blank">USA Hockey</a> made it official today when they announced that Kings wingers Dustin Brown and Patrick O&#8217;Sullivan will represent the United States in the 2008 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Quebec City, Quebec, May 2-18, 2008.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On February 4, <a href="http://www.hockeycanada.ca" target="_blank">Hockey Canada</a> announced that <a href="http://kings.nhl.com" target="_blank">Los Angeles Kings</a> President, Business Operations Luc Robitaille has been named as an Assistant General Manager for Canada at the <a href="http://www.iihf.com/home-of-hockey/championships/world-championships/canada-2008.html" target="_blank">2008 IIHF World Championships</a>, which will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Quebec City, Quebec, May 2-18, 2008.<!--more--></p>
<p>Robitaille will serve with Doug Armstrong, who will also serve as an Assistant General Manager. Steve Yzerman is the General Manager.</p>
<p>Robitaille will serve Canada for the first time in a management position. He represented Canada three times as a player in the 1986 IIHF World Junior Championship (won the silver medal), the 1991 Canada Cup (won the gold medal) and the 1994 IIHF World Championship (won the gold medal).</p>
<p>“I am very pleased to have Luc agree to join me on Canada’s management staff for the World Championship along with Doug Armstrong,” said Yzerman. “Over the course of our careers, Luc and I have developed a great relationship.  I am very confident that Luc’s knowledge of the game and the players will have a very positive impact on Team Canada.”</p>
<p>Yzerman was Canada’s General Manager at the 2007 IIHF World Championship in Moscow, Russia, leading Canada to a perfect 9-0 record and its third gold medal in five years.</p>
