Nora thinks about this and thinks what the hell, opens her robe, and gives Chris a nice long look. Chris thanks her, throws another hundred bucks on the table, and then says he can’t wait any longer and leaves.

A while later Tony arrives home and his wife says "You know, your weird friend Chris came over. "

My Thoughts: It seems Cleveland, Ohio don’t get that many or Ohio for that matter. Why they waiting til summer of ‘09′ to ship them to the US I have no clue. From the articles I read they were saying the demand for Wii’s/DS’s where higher in the U.S than any were else. So whats the hub-bub? Anyway, I struggle getting DS’s and Wii’s and things of that matter. Any nintendo product is hard to come by so if you have a Wii/DS hold onto it. Guard it with your life. XD

So anyways, now that we’ve reached 100 letters it’s like… whoa.  Do you not remember when we first began our letters… nevertheless, began the idea? It was eons ago! Or that’s what it seems, but it has really been two months. How much higher will the letter count get? 200, 500, 1000, 3000?

IT‘S LETTER 200 BABY!

How awesome is that?  I think REALLY awesome.  Like, think of all the exciting things we’ve done: photos, drawings, shared stories, etc. etc.  I mean, sure, some have died down after a while, but it’s still awesome!

AND WE HAVE 3,847 HITS.

So, I just spend about a half hour trying to find our beginning and end dates for our previous shared story, and I also updated our current ’story’ page, so do feel free to check that out.  I’ll probably get along to revamping the other pages as well, but y’know… one page at a time!

WEE 200.  I’m pretty lucky.  I get all the fun celebrations.  Poor Ben.  Ben doesn’t get any celebrations.  SORRY BEN.  You get the 99’s.  and 123’s.  I GET THE AWESOME EVENS.

I think my delirium of this post was caused by my aching feet.  I saw these really cute boots in my sister’s closet this morning, snatched them, wore them to school, and discovered third period that they were a size and a half too small.  Hmm.

I LOVE LFATP.  We’re really pretty awesome for coming up with this idea.  How did we come up with it?

WELL, before I forget, STORY TIEM.

“Bryson!  Gross!”  I rolled my eyes.  “Seriously, don’t you know me well enough by now to know my taste?”

“I do,” he laughed, “but teasing you is just too much fun.”

I shot him a dirty look.  After hearing that Malorie was swapping spit with Drew King… It was like my holiday was ruined.  Sort of.

“Come on, Margot, it’s not that big of a deal.  Don’t let it ruin your day.  You have all day tomorrow for that.”  He flashed a huge grin.  “But it’s the first day of school, something you love.  Don’t get all so worked up because Malorie has found herself a boyfriend.”

I sighed.  Neither Malorie or myself had ever gotten that far in the ‘romance’ category of school.  Sure, we had crushes, but they never went anywhere.  I’ve always wondered how we are friends with Bryson; he seemed like he was able to get any girl in the school to go out with him… which may have not been so far from the truth.  Yet, he still chooses to hang around with us, when really he could be with many other cliques right now.  Now that Malorie had been caught with Drew King by the gym, an unbelieviabley gross factor I was still having truoble comprehending, I was the only girl in junior year that has never had a boyfriend.  Or be kissed, for that matter.  I never really minded, though.  But this whole Malorie-Drew thing was just bugging me.

“Come on,” Bryson nudged me, disrupting my thoughts.  “Let’s go make our tour the school and see everything that has changed.”  On that word, he dragged me across the double-doors into the commons.

Everything was mass chaos.  The rich girls were complimenting eachother, saying how cute their outfit was or how tan they got this summer.  The jocks were boasting about how much work they did this summer and how much muscle they gained.  The geeks were off in a corner comparing their thoughts on certain video games.  Everyone else was just in a big jumble with the excited chatter of school.  We dragged ourselves through the crowd - Bryson always having to stop for a minute and greet someone - until we made ourselves to the back hallway to the gym entrance, where no teachers ever patroled, thus giving it the name “make-out stake-out”.  Tons of couples were about: lips and bodies pressed up against eachother on walls, chairs… anywhere they found suitable.  Eww.  I spotted Malorie in the corner with Drew and pointed them out to Bryson, who then made a gagging face with me.

I thought about shoving Drew into her and creating some chaos, but decided she would probably hate me for it.  The thought was just so tempting, though.

First period bell buzzed in my ear.  Kids moved about, rushing to get their stuff and get to class on time.  Bryson and I waited at the corner right outside the hallway, waiting for Malorie to walk by.  After a couple of minutes she walked out, combing her hair with her hands, trying to stop the frizzles that… thing, Drew King had done.  Lipgloss was smeared all over her face and her skirt seemed a little more higher than usual.

“Oh, hey guys!”  She shouted over the commotion, running to catch up with us.  I made sure I didn’t slow down one bit.

Well, that isn’t as good as your story, but I attempted!

Seriously though, Ben, your bit sounded like I was reading an award winning novel.  I’m not gonna lie - I was intimidated writing mine!

MELILLA.- Un grupo de unos 200 inmigrantes subsaharianos ha tratado de entrar en avalancha en Melilla a través del puesto fronterizo de Beni Enzar, el más importante de los cuatro que la ciudad autónoma tiene con Marruecos.

Desde que el temporal rompiese parte de la verja de Melilla, los intentos de entrada de inmigrantes subsaharianos se han sucedido uno tras otro, aunque el de hoy ha sido el más numeroso de todos ellos. De hecho, éste es el séptimo asalto de inmigrantes que se registra en la ciudad autónoma en tan sólo 15 días, desde que el pasado 26 de octubre las lluvias derribaran parte del vallado fronterizo.

Los subsaharianos trataron de saltar en dos avalanchas que causaron heridas leves a varios agentes de la Guarcia Civil, la Policía Nacional y la Policía marroquí, que utilizaron material antidisturbio y gases lacrimógenos para frenar el acceso de los subsaharianos, según informaron fuentes policiales.

En concreto, dos guardias civiles sufrieron contusiones y otros seis más y un policía nacional tuvieron que ser atendidos por inhalación de gases lacrimógenos, según informó la Delegación del Gobierno de Melilla, que aseguró que todos están “en buen estado de salud y se han reincorporado ya al servicio”.

El primero de los dos asaltos a la valla, en el que participaron unas 150 personas, tuvo lugar sobre las 5.00, mientras que el segundo, con otros 60 inmigrantes, se produjo sobre las 8.00.

Según la Delegación del Gobierno, en el primero de los intentos, la “rápida actuación” de los efectivos de seguridad españoles, que cerraron las puertas del control fronterizo, impidió que el grupo de subsaharianos alcanzara su objetivo.

Sin embargo, en el segundo, fue “necesario” que los agentes lanzaran gases lacrimógenos “para hacer desistir a los subsaharianos de su acción”. Además, en esta ocasión, también actuó la Gendermaría marroquí con material antidisturbios. Según aseguraron fuentes policiales, los inmigrantes iban “armados con palos, piedras y ladrillos”.

Las Fuerzas de Seguridad de ambos países fueron alertadas por un helicóptero de la Guardia Civil, que sobrevoló la zona en todo momento, como hizo en las anteriores avalanchas ocurridas desde que el 26 de octubre se produjeran unas inundaciones en Melilla que echaron abajo parte de la alambrada y afectaron a los sistemas de seguridad de la frontera.

Desde las inundaciones del pasado 26 de octubre, que destrozaron más de 30 metros de la valla y bloquearon las compuertas del arroyo Mezquita, se han producido al menos siete avalanchas de irregulares. De ellas, las cinco primeras fueron repelidas por las fuerzas españolas con la colaboración marroquí en tres de ellas, y las otras dos fueron abortadas por la Policía del vecino país, ambas el pasado fin de semana.

La última entrada se produjo el pasado 2 de noviembre, cuando tres guardias civiles resultaron heridos tras repeler el intento de entrada.

Los agentes han denunciado que las llegadas de los subsaharianos son cada vez más violentas y que utilizan palos y botellas para enfrentarse a ellos y lograr cruzar la frontera.

Okay, so it’s not exactly a solid “action” that Barack Obama has taken here, but I feel it’s still note-worthy. Word is (according to Washington Post), Barack Obama has, along with several other advisors, a list of about 200 social and economic actions taken by George W. Bush that he plans on reversing after his inauguration on January 20th of next year. Among these issues are policies in reguard to climate change, stem-cell research, and reproductive rights. These suggested changes come less than a week after Barack Obama was named President-Elect by an electoral landslide on Tuesday. President-Elect Obama’s decisions to override these policies would be a way for him to start acting on his campaign promises very quickly after he is inaugurated on Jan 20th.

These decisions are going to be met with some disdain, no doubt, by the right-wing of our government. To hopefully quell these bad feelings Obama has promised to put these issue changes off untill he consults with both sides of the aisle, after that he will make decisions on each issue accordingly.

SimCity 2000

SimCity 2000 (Maxis) is the updated version of that venerable classic, SimCity the granddaddy of all simulation games. Although this newer version has been around for awhile, its still one of the most entertaining simulation programs you can buy. Start out with little more than cow pastures, and in no time you can be ruling a megalopolis if you know how to manage a city, that is. The issues you must consider and control are numerous zoning, development, mass transit, education, recreation, utilities, and on and on. Your potential problems are even more numerous illiteracy, urban blight, riots, declining land values, gridlock, and an aging infrastructure, to name just a few. We’ve always been fans of this game, mostly because it strikes a perfect balance between giving you control over the minute details a good simulation requires and keeping things simple enough to be fun. The initial learning curve is a bit steep we’d like to see a tutorial like the one included with Gazillionaire, but we must admit that in traditional Maxis style the manual is at least an entertaining read. SimCity 2000 will hold your interest longer than just about any other CD-ROM game, mainly because the simulation is so challenging. But if you can stay on top of things, keep crime and pollution low and maybe float some successful bond issues, you’ll be rewarded with throngs of your little Sim-citizens erecting a statue in your honor. What more could anyone ask for?

During a rally in Hershey, Pa., McCain told supporters the gaffe revealed the Democrats’ true tax-and-spend intentions.

“It’s interesting how their definition of ‘rich’ has a way of creeping down,” McCain said.

“Senator Obama has made a lot of promises. First, he said people making less than $250,000 would benefit from his plan.

“Then, this weekend, he announced in an ad that if you’re a family making less than $200,000 you’ll benefit - but yesterday right here in Pennsylvania, Senator Biden said tax relief should only go to ‘middle-class people’ - people making under $150,000 a year.

“At this rate, it won’t be long before Senator Obama is right back to his vote that Americans making just $42,000 a year should get a tax increase.

Then there is the Wall Street Journal’s take on the situation…

Well, will families making less than $250,000 get a tax cut under President Obama, or not? Senator Obama has been saying this for months, but on Monday Joe Biden put the tax-cut income threshold at $150,000 in an interview with a TV station in his beloved Scranton, Pennsylvania. The Biden campaign later clarified — or at least tried to clarify — the matter by saying that anyone making between $150,000 and $250,000 wouldn’t get a tax cut but also wouldn’t pay higher taxes.

We suspect what’s going on here is more than Mr. Biden’s normal gift of gaffe. As with his admission that a President Obama would quickly be tested by our enemies, the Delaware rambler was stumbling into the truth. An Obama Administration couldn’t possibly pay for a tax cut for 95% of Americans by raising taxes on a mere 5%. Those 5% don’t make enough money, or at least they won’t after they find ways to shelter more of their income when their tax rates rise.

Just as Bill Clinton promised a “middle-class tax cut” in 1992 only to raise taxes on the middle class in 1993, Mr. Obama will quickly find that his tax-revenue math doesn’t add up. Add in the demands on Capitol Hill to spend more and to offset the Alternative Minimum Tax, and our bet is that even $150,000 would soon prove to be a moving tax target. Remember when the AMT was only supposed to hit 21 millionaires? Next year, without relief, it could hit 26 million taxpayers. Tax increases always hit the middle class because that’s where the money is.

Add this slip up to the reality of the tax plan explained here where the author explains 4 different ways that the Obama tax plan will result in higher taxes for everyone making $50,000 a year… and I am none too thrilled, not only with the tax plan but the continued lies and the pass on the lies the media gives him.

As McCain has said repeatedly… Obama is very eloquent, he will lull you into a sense of security with his beautiful words, but to get the real meaning, you have to listen to what he says very carefully.

Now, Bill Richardson has pegged the number at $120k…

For the second time in a week, a prominent Democrat has downgraded Barack Obama’s definition of the middle class — leading Republicans to question whether he’ll stick to his promise not to raise taxes on anyone making under $250,000.

The latest hiccup in the campaign message came Friday morning on KOA-AM, when New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson pegged the middle class as those making $120,000 and under.

“What Obama wants to do is he is basically looking at $120,000 and under among those that are in the middle class, and there is a tax cut for those,” Richardson said in the interview, according to a clip posted on YouTube.

A veces me empiezo a convencer de operarme los ojos, pero me da miedo que ya no me hagan valida la garantía despues…

I jest really… I have moved all the professional techie stuff over to the new blog at bldwtech.com but I have been having real trouble settling my theme down and getting the oh so mighty Google to actually index it. It still has not happened but I hope that it will happen in the next few days. I have followed all the rules and had to find out a pretty important point about WordPress when you roll your own. Out of the box it is broken for Google verification - well specifically it is broken for 404 responses. I have stumbled on this by accident after doing all the normal stuff as set out in the Google help pages.

Essentially, when queried for a non-existent page, WordPress (when installed into the root of the site - I think that is the important point) needs to handle all pages through index.php. In the default state this will return a page - a sort of 404 page but with a 200 response. I have worked around this now but I will need to fix it - something I am sure will take a few hours over the next few nights. My workaround was to edit/comment out the .htaccess default redirect to index.php during the period I needed to verify the site. This breaks it all of course for actually being a blog, but then that is why it is a workaround that was put back as soon as the verification took place.
