Pre-K and K: students learned our introduction poem for their Christmas program and the words to one of their songs. We also went through the hand movements for each piece.

5th band: learned our first two notes (concert pitches D and E); students were asked to learn the 3rd note (concert pitch F) on their own at home. Students should be practicing from their book and keeping track of their practice times!

Hey, I’m back! I stopped updating my previous blog since God knows when so I decided that I should just give up on my old blog and start a new one, so here I am. Okay, so what will I be blogging about? Well, basically anything that interests me, be it anime, J-culture or just whatever I did in the week. I hope that I’d be able to give updates more frequently now that my O-Levels are almost over. Let’s just hope I don’t get too lazy and that this blog won’t end up like all my previous blogs. D:

And there you have it, my opening post! ^^

The Stranger removed it’s story and the link is now bouncing back to Drudge where it origina

The Stranger removed it’s story and the link is now bouncing back to Drudge where it originally got it’s legs. They undoubtedly heard a few voices or saw the threat of lawsuit. Not ones to take any responsibility they continue with a discussion on their blog, The Slog and now call it the “Hell House Freakout”.

As the original published story is newsworthy, I have decided to reprint the article (with addresses removed) for those interested to see the original and decide for yourselves what kind of publication The Stranger is. Those who wish to contact the staff of the Stranger are encouraged to do so.

You can find a contact list for these fine folks on my original post.

UPDATE- Nov. 2 10am:
The Stranger is now doing some serious back peddling. A new post on the Slog is now claiming that they removed the article because they received “death threats”. Since their personal addresses were posted in comments of the original story, they claim that they are now simply protecting their staff. If that was true, why didn’t they simply moderate the comments?

Well Stranger Staff, It seems you don’t like it as much when the shoe is on the other foot, do you? As for those “death” threats? I don’t buy it for a minute. The editors and staff probably saw the err of their ways by being threatened alright. Threatened with law suits and loss of advertising revenue.

REPRINT: HELL HOUSES- Originally published on Nov. 1st by the Seattle newspaper The Stranger.

Hell Houses
Topography of Terror: The Eastside Edition

By Stranger Staff
Cobwebs and witches are for children and morons. If you’re looking for the most hair-raising Halloween horrors, try scouring the streets of the Eastside. That’s where we found the most pants-wettingly scary houses, sure to give you night terrors well past Halloween and all the way until November 4. Because in an election year, nothing’s more terrifying than the future.

-ADDRESS REMOVED- Mercer Island

“No passion so effectually robs the mind of all its powers of acting and reasoning as fear,” wrote British philosopher Edmund Burke in 1756. It’s as true today as ever. Case in point: this bloodcurdling Mercer Island lawn display, a quadruple whammy of Republican propaganda capable of driving the most reasonable citizen to insanity. By day, it’s a standard collection of yard signs on a well-manicured lawn. But at night, it’s a GOP graveyard, where the yard-sign tombstones are unearthed by zombie candidates hungry for brains. Do you have what it takes to drive a stake through the heart of zombie Dino Rossi or blast a shotgun into the chest of zombie Dave Reichert or fight off the reanimated ashes of Steve Litzow, swirling out of that terrifying urn? Run.

-ADDRESS REMOVED- Mercer Island

Hungarian peasants have an old and terrible story about “the tree of death,” which by some trick of evil had lurking in its twisted branches the “dark lord,” the master of the underworld, the evil that brings all things to their end. It was there in the tree, waiting, watching, and preying on the living. Passing this dead—nay, murdered—tree on Mercer Island takes us back to the scariest bowels of Hungary, only instead of one dark lord, this tree is possessed by a trinity of evil, represented quite fittingly by cheap glossy crassness tacked over mercilessly hacked nature.

-ADDRESS REMOVED- Bellevue

What is more terrifying than this edifice, in which there is no door, few windows, and no handholds by which one might scale its faceless heights to register complaint? One half-expects loudspeakers on the roof to be blaring Orson Welles voice, from his movie version of Franz Kafka’s The Trial: A man comes from the country, begging admittance to the law. But the guard cannot admit him. Can he hope to enter at a later time? “That is possible,” says the guard. The man tries to peer through the entrance. He had been taught that the law should be accessible to every man. “Do not attempt to enter without my permission,” says the guard. “I am very powerful, but I am the least of all the guards.” Without a doubt, this is no home to man, but a monolithic holding cell packed floor-to-ceiling with bubbling black goo.

-ADDRESS REMOVED- Mercer Island

That John McCain sign is screamingly scary enough in the early-evening light, like a little flag for an evil army of pint-sized ghouls marching through the leafy streets of Mercer Island. And that zigzagging, funereal fence behind it? That is the sign of an isolated home, sheltering isolated minds—bristling, cold and black, a thousand points of death—and the kind of house that gives trick-or-treaters miniboxes of raisins. Beware.

-ADDRESS REMOVED- Bellevue

This most terrifying tableau gains its power from what’s not shown but easily imagined: the presence of John McCain and Sarah Palin not in name but bodily form, striding triumphantly onto this balcony like a trailer-park Eva Perón and her cryogenically defrosting old-man running mate. Down below, the desperate, unemployed masses huddle in the shrubs, their bellies roiled by hunger and heartbreak, their cold bare ankles stung by the blades of wet grass. Or… could those be tiny tentacles or the haunted bubbling of mass graves or the desperate clutching fingers of a special-needs child? Flee, and don’t look back.

-ADDRESS REMOVED- Medina

Like an oversized cousin of John McCain’s aged, brown iguana teeth, this foreboding fence is busy keeping immigrants out and Jesus’s love within. How like the wily immigrant is the frightening foliage, as it insidiously creeps and scratches at Real America’s doorstep! How mighty the speculum of Dino Rossi—an army of dead-baby ghosts at his back—aborting civil rights before civil rights can abort him first! Who knows what liberal bogeymen lurk outside this fence’s cherished sanctum? The nightmare has just begun for you, Republican fence.

The Stranger, a Seatle based paper, published today a list of addresses including photos of private citizens’ homes who support the GOP by placing yard signs on their property.

It is at best an attempt at voter intimidation, and at worst a precursor to a liberal, socialist government’s attempt to subvert free speech.

Exerpt from the article:
Run.

This is very frightening to me. America is on the precipice of becoming a dangerous tyrannical regime bent on distributing wealth and suppressing the voice of the American people. It is a slippery slope we are on if we continue to allow this paper and others like it to operate in this manner.

Not only does this fascist rag print the addresses of ordinary citizens in the article, in my opinion also is inciting violence against the political party members. The fact that a so-called “newspaper” would so easily publish the addresses of these people, simply wishing to express their political views, apparently giving no thought as to the consequences. Or, that the paper published this information knowing full well the potential consequenses, should be enough to give any patriotic American citizen pause.

One reader, in an effort to bring a sense of fairness to these liberal propagandists, has compiled a list of The Stanger’s staff and posted it as a comment of the papers website. Just in case the paper decides to remove this comment (they, don’t like free speech remember), I have published it here.

A warning to my readers-Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do, but a nice letter or three to these editors, publishers, and writers may send a strong signal that “what is good for the goose is good for the gander”.

If you subscribe to this paper, cancel. If you advertise in this garbage rag, pull your ads now. If you live in the Seattle area, call these editors or better yet, show up at their front door and ask them why they think it is acceptable to endanger the public.

This is a true story about a small businessman (me) fighting for not only my rights, but the rights

This is a true story about a small businessman (me) fighting for not only my rights, but the rights of anyone living in or passing through, Collier County, Florida vs. the same county. Said county has 5 elected commissioners- all Republican (as I am) that run the county and are supposed to be held accountable for their actions.

The names have not been changed. No protection is offered to anyone….

I own a small mobile-billboard company in Bonita Springs, FL. We use tri-vision style signs (very similar to traditional road-side billboards) built into Dodge Sprinters or Ford vans and drive our clients messages around in a fluid method that can not be achieved any other way. Early in December, 2006 I received 2 very distinct voice mails from Code Enforcement Officer Kitchell Snow. Both messages were harsh - almost abusive in tone. In the first message, Mr. Snow told me he would find me, cite me and take me to court (almost like he was on a mission). The second message let me know he did find me, that he would take me to court and win, and he couldn’t understand why I didn’t believe him or take him seriously. Both messages have been saved in many different places, however they were never presented to his superiors. On December 14th, 2006, Collier County Code Enforcement cited me under their Land Development Code (which states it is designed to protect real property) for having a sign with “motion or the illusion of motion”. The code enforcement officer (Mr. Snow) took pictures and filled out the citation as “the real property located at: transient and itinerent in nature.”

Now - I am not a rocket scientist, but I am an intelligent human being (ok - keep the comments on that to yourself ). I, to this day, can not figure out how real property can be itinerent or transient. By definition, real property is attached to the planet in one way, shape, or form by a method other than gravity. This ridiculous citation, with the associated $1,000/day fine for violating the code, is what started this whole thing running wild… However, I didn’t see much distinction between my signs and those on any other vehicle (IE FEDEX, UPS), so I kept on about my business.

I guess it was in April or early May 2007 when we (me and my attorneys, Richard Annunziata and Scott Duval from Brennan, Manna and Diamond) met with Code Enforcement Director Michelle Arnold and Collier Attorneys Jeff Wright and Jeff Klazgow. The purpose of the meeting, we were told, was to come to an agreement so we didn’t have to go before the Code Enforcement Board, Board of County Commissioners or head to court. In that meeting we offered a compromise. First, we offered to change the signs every 5 minutes instead of every 10 seconds. That wasn’t good enough. Then we offered to drive behind a shopping center and switch them,. Nope- not that either. Then we offered to drive into a garage, close the door, change the signs out of view of anyone and that too was shot down. We were told we had to drive back to Lee County to change our signs. We spent 3 hours trying to negotiate, because after all, we were told the purpose of the meeting was to negotiate a compromise. That was the first of many examples of the county’s inflexability.

We had our day in court - well - not really court, it was before the Collier County Code Enforcement Board (hardly an unbiased venue) in late May 2007. The CEB’s job is to determine if a code was violated - not to determine the validity of their own codes. The County Attorney is supposed to be able to help with that. We obviously lost that hearing (and expected to do so). We were also told we would be fined the $1000/sighting if we were caught turning the signs. The CEB actually felt we were getting about $500/day per client and they wanted to fine me $5,000/sighting. No abuse of power here!

So off we go, being good little lemmings and doing what Collier County required. They assign their first attorney to the case. Negotations go back and forth and legal fees cross $50k. We tell the first attorney our entire strategy, where the holes in the codes are and so on. We offered to drop the suits if they leave us alone. We also stated that when our fees cross 100k that we were headed to court. First attorney reports to the head attorney. Our offer is denied. The attorney is pulled from the case.

Second attorney lasted maybe 5 days. He must have figured they had no case and didn’t want to be a part of it.

Third attorney… we all meet in September at the offices of Brennan, Manna and Diamond in Bonita. We inform the 3rd county attorney we are about to cross the 100k threshold and after today negotiations would stop. He sees the “offending vehicle” up close and makes a comment in passing to this effect… “obviously the codes weren’t written for this”.

Again, the County Attorney’s office denied our requests to sttle this matter. We held true to our promise and filed everything in Federal and State Court. Had a hearing in Federal Court with Judge Steele. On February 13, 2008, Judge Steele ruled in our favor saying “the county has no interest in enforcing an unconstitutional sign code”(paraphrased). The entire ruling from Judge Steele can be read here: http://mobile-exposure.biz/menewsletters/Order%20on%20Motion%20for%20Preliminary%20Injunction%20(2).pdf

Now Collier County brings in the 4th attorney…

Jackie Hubbard has a reputation for delaying, losing documentation, forgetting where negotiations have been or where they are going. Just the right person to handle a case like this! Well- she is if you want to either a) stick your head in the sand or b) run the oppositions legal fees up to the point where they can’t afford to fight. Their intentions were obviously B. Not out of ignorance mind you. She actually said she would drag this case on and on - years through the courts - with the intention of running our fees up so much we would be out of business. The time is now July 2008, 3 days before our scheduled mediation. Jackie Hubbard decided to bring this revelation to light in an attempt to get us to settle for an unreasonably low sum. We had approximately 1 hour to make a decision, or face the fact the County has limitless funds to fight legal battles with. Tough choices ahead!

Keep in mind, the County admitted the code was unconstitutional in their response to Judge Steel’s February ruling. At that point, wouldn’t it have made sense to end this? We would have settled for $225k back then, but the collective brainpans down at the Collier County Government Building felt compelled to keep fighting. So we hired experts to prove attorneys fees and damages (damages as of May 19, 2008 were over $250k), which of course drove our fees up.

Tuesday, September 9th was a very important day in this case. The Collier County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to settle this dispute. More than a year and a half later, the Commissioners decided it was time to stop wasting money. It took them 7 months after Judge Steele ruled on the preliminary injunction and the County responded by admitting the Constitutional faults. The $225,000 settlement covers my legal fees only. It does nothing to cover the 1/4 million in lost profit.

Friday September 12, 2008 - I was advised that Jackie Hubbard is looking to play games. You gotta love this! The agreement the Commissioners signed has the county paying the $225k, then when the funds clear, we dismiss the case. Makes sense. However, we were just told the county won’t cut the check until after the dismissals have been recorded. Hmm… why play games? I really hope she wakes up. The headlines in the paper will read “County Renegs on Deal with Local Mobile Billboard Company!” That would be some great press!

Well - we decided to play nice and not force the issue. We put the dismissals in trust with the county until the funds cleared. Just another example of government kicking the people when they are down.

However, all is not lost. The legal system works. We have just proven that you truly can fight city hall and win. I have been asked if faced with this problem again, would I go through it? Absolutely! Chances are we will fight this again along the way somewhere. But I am glad to say that we fought the fight, we won, and American everywhere can use (and are)this case to prove their points and keep government from over-stepping its boundaries.

Ok, so the post on Free Occult Ebooks has been somewhat popular according to the blog stats page, so here is another link.

http://www.wierus.com/ - Wierus Occult Antiques. Basically they catalogue and auction off genuine first editions/antique occult books from throughout antiquity.

Wierus was first created in France in the 90s as an association aimed at making an exhaustive bibliography of all known books and manuscripts related to the occult sciences / hermetism , and to have the rarest treatises scanned. They auction through ebay with most books selling for a couple of thousand euros.
If like me you are both poor, and a bibliophile with an interest in the occult, this site is great fantasy material. If you do have the kind of cash to buy these kind of things, and you are greatful for the link - feel free to send me something

Pamiętniki leżą w szafie, a zapisywanie wspomnień postanowiłem przenieść tutaj.

Its late now and I feel sleepy. My eyes are bloodshot again today. my eye bags looking drugged as well. I should be sleeping after this and guess I am not going to P. Ubin in the day. What is there to cycle about anyway.

I woke up at around noon, mum brought Joan to the dentist. I shall ask her about it when I wake up. Your cell is never loud enough for your ears, I tried calling thrice but still failed to wake you up. I just wanted to hear your sleepy voice so badly. I do need you darling. You’re the first thing I saw when I open my eyes, the first person I think of.

I came on-line and watched couple videos on YouTube - funny spelling bee moments. Later when you came on and I showed you, you said you thought they were supposed to spell ‘Bee’. Ha, so typical of you. I love your candidness. I love you.

mmm… Zimmerman on iTunes.

Don’t follow leaders, watch your parking meters

Get sick, get well
Hang around a ink well

sigh, back to interrogation. i wonder when will we live in peace.
