Eleven Summer School pupils enjoyed a day of team-building at Fordell Firs, along with three 6th year Buddies. The Partnership Officers, Deborah King and Angela McDonald, organised the day to help boost pupils’ confidence while providing an opportunity for staff to ensure they were happy and progressing well at Our Lady’s.

The pupils spent the day doing archery, caving, climbing and abseiling with pupils receiving massive praise for conquering their fear of heights or their fear of enclosed spaces or simply applying themselves to the tasks.

It was a valuable experience all round: in particular, the 6th year Buddies were able to support and encourage the 1st years and provided real examples of what they could achieve.

I tot I taw a puddytat...

A worried Senior Janitor thought he was seeing things as he watched Sylvester chasing Tweety-Pie up Dalzell Drive, watched by Spiderman and Bugs Bunny. In actual fact, it was just the beginning of this year’s superduper Hallowe’en Disco.

Beasties

The costumes were fabulous, with two sets of “118″ guys (that’s their real hair, you know), animals, pirates and superheroes, fairy tales and film stars and various ghoulies, ghosties and long-leggedy beasties. A surprising number of the clergy also showed up to boogie the night away.

Spot the prize winner?

In addition to the dancing and music, the crowd could have a shot of apple dooking, and various prizes were handed out for best costumes, including Leah Holmes’ as Cruella de Ville.

The disco is organised and run by 6th year pupils for 1st years and helps raise funds for the Clydeview Christmas Party, yearbook and Leavers’ Dance.

Who are the mysterious builders of boats?

1st year began their Technical education by making a pencil holder in the form of a boat.

During its construction, they learn to use wordworking tools and machines in a safe manner, whilst building upon their automotive skills.

Rishab met Sukhvinder singh, a legendary hindi singer. We had seen him on a televison show “Voice of India” on Star plus just the previous night. He appears in numerous video albums and is a famous playback singer for hindi and other language movies.

He was very nice to us and took rishab in his arms. After staring at his sunglasses rishab started crying loudly (Trust me he hardly ever cries without good reason). Probly rishab was thinking, whos this wearing sunglasses even when sun inst around. Sukhvinder offered apologies for making rishab cry We felt good to meet him and moved on to board our flight.
