Estamos por aqui hoje para falar um pouco sobre o famoso “Teatro de Segurança” que por muitas vezes tenta se instalar nos ambientes corporativos e também indicar algumas formas de trabalho que podem nos auxiliar a evitar tais cenários.

Alguns de vocês, para não dizer todos, já devem ter passado por situações nas quais uma área qualquer dentro da corporação solicita o mágico “Parecer de Segurança” sobre um projeto XYZ que está entre uma das maiores prioridades da corporação e tem que estar instalado no seu ambiente de produção até o final de semana. Meu Deus !!! Já fico estressado só de me colocar dentro dessa situação imaginária. De certa forma, acho até que já adquirí um certo pré-conceito com o tal do “Parecer de Segurança”, mas pra ser justo, o “coitado” não tem culpa alguma. Na verdade, ele sempre é um dos temas preferidos nas “peças” do “Teatro da Segurança”.

Não quero nem entrar em detalhes sobre questões como segurança dentro do ciclo de vida de um projeto ou software, nem tampouco dizer que situações de excessão, pressão e necessidades do negócio não existam ou não devem ser consideradas. O que acredito ser inaceitável é que as situações de excessão se tornem a realidade do dia-a-dia de trabalho ou mesmo, que o Gestor da informação, processo etc não assuma a responsabilidade sobre os riscos de segurança apontados no seu projeto. Infelizmente, na maioria das situações ocorre o contrário: querem um parecer de segurança que está mais para “Parecer Segurança”: o prazo é para ontem e o nível de risco apontado deve tender a zero. Eis o “Teatro da Segurança”. Não deixe ele se instalar na sua corporação !!!

A palavra-chave para não permitir a instalação do “Teatro da Segurança” é organização, busque métodos de trabalho, oficialize-os dentro da organização e utilize-os no dia-a-dia. Para as situações de excessão suba a alçada decisória. E por onde pederíamos começar?

Fiquei curioso de ver no dicionário Aurélio o significado da palavra “Parecer”. Olhem o que encontrei:
“Parecer: Opinião fundamentada sobre determinado assunto, emitida por especialista.” (Aqui fica meu atrevimento quanto a definição :-D: “descrição perfeita desde que esteja nas entrelinhas a visão que dois especialistas terão relatórios de segurança similares em termos de conteúdo técnico. Ex: riscos apontados etc”

Partindo para um exemplo prático o qual configura-se por um cenário onde os pedidos de parecer de segurança para aplicativos de negócio estão sempre sob pressão e prazos estrapolados, ou seja, a excessão se tornou seu dia-a-dia. A publicação de uma norma para atendimento às solicitações de parecer, um formulário solicitando informações sobre o principal processo/informação envolvida e um nível mínimo de requisito de segurança para as aplicações corporativas (baseline) te ajudarão a controlar o incêndio. Paralelamente, trabalhe na evolução do formulário de informações de forma que você consiga extrair o nível de prejuízo financeiro que uma falha operacional do processo poderia trazer para a empresa. Uma vez tendo essa classificação, é possível afinar o seu baseline de segurança para cada nível de classificação de processo (obtido no seu formulário de informações).

Apesar de não serem as únicas fontes de informação para criação do baseline, posso citar ao menos 4 documentos do NIST que me serviram como ponto de partida:

NIST FIPS PUB 200
NIST FIPS PUB 199

Publicado o baseline, trabalhe na criação de uma base complementar de requisitos de segurança que poderá ser utilizada pelos analistas de segurança quando estiverem avaliando uma aplicação de negócio ou processo.

Wall Street Journal reports that the first Android Powered Mobile phone brought out by T-Mobile is going for $199. Its appearently in direct competition with Apple’s iPhone interms of contract.

Whats really to point out here is if the device has been subsidized by carrier?

HTC, the Taiwanese device manufacturer, will set the price tag at its release in Gulf, Asia. An iPhone in India 8GB costs 31,000 RS. It is incredibly overpriced. Vodafone and Airtel, carriers, probably wanted to sweep the creamy layer first  followed by real market value price cuts. Price cuts arent announced yet, but we should see some change in Q1 2009.

SPECULATION:

Android would enter India as well as Gulf countries as a GSM mobile device, unlocked! ( this is just speculation by me based on market trends here)

Android Phones should be less expensive than Windows Mobile Devices and Symbian due to the very nature of open free software. How big will be the difference? We should know when other OHA members release their tigers!

Central Quang Ngai province has given the nod to the Tan Mai Paper Joint Stock Company to build a paper and pulp plant in Binh Long commune, Binh Son district.

The 199 million USD paper mill has a designed capacity of producing 200,000 tonnes of paper in addition to 130,000 tonnes of pulp per year.

The four-year project, which will last through 2011, aims to establish a strong paper and pulp production centre near the material zone.

Once operational, the project is expected to stabilise the domestic paper prices, boost forest planting in the region and generate jobs for local workers.-

In order to compete with Nintendo’s Wii, it seems like Microsoft will lower the price of its Xbox 360 Arcade bundle to $199. It if’s true, the console will come a 512 memory card, the new Fall update displaying the avatars and new interface, plus a Wii-like motion controller and some mini games to play to test the use of this new device. It doesn’t look like a bad plan for Microsoft. If Microsoft does it, will it be too late to catch up to the Wii’s popularity? If Microsoft’s plan succeeds, will that force Nintendo to lower the price of the Wii?

With Apple’s announcement of launch of its new 3G iPhone in almost seventy countries, people are all set to grab this piece of tech marvel. Vodafone is collaborating for its launch in India, that means that iphone will be locked to be used with Vodafone only (it will be interesting to see that till what time such locks will sustain in India ).

But the point is that, what prompted me to write this post? there are already plethora of articles available on iphone.
Today as I sat down to begin my work, my ears rang with a sweet phrase..”Oh Sh*t”…..that sound came from Deb’s cubicle (my office friend), that sound was enough to make me stand on my feet with anxiety. “What happened Deb? ” …..Deb- “Sh*t man”….(as if he was taught only these two words..) one more try..”At least tell me what happened?”…
“$600 to $200… can you imagine..man from Rs 25000 to 8000..8GB, 3G enabled iphone!!..that too in one year”..this much was enough for me to understand his plight..Apple’s launch report robbed him in one second of his exclusivity which he was owning since last one year.
He got his iPhone from US last year only (when it was not sold in India and is ready for its official Indian launch now) got it cracked so that it can be used with local operators, and today he reacted as if somebody cheated with him. He purchased 8GB, 2G enabled iPhone in kool $600 and today the newer version is all set for its launch on 11th July in just $199!..that too within time frame of one year….what more to say..is this an alarm bell for biggies like NOKIA? coming days will really be interesting to watch upon specially in mammoth market like India.
But somewhere I feel that poor people like me who are surviving on NOKIA’s low end model like 2610 can surely dream big now;) and can try to make our life more beautiful:)…Thanks Apple…

Petrol was 1.40 today…that was WITH the 10c discount mind you..If I didn’t have to pay out of my own pocket, I would be fine with it, but its the fact that my parents are making me pay out of my own pocket that now I’m getting incredibly annoyed at soaring prices.

Even though my car has supposedly low Km to consumption rate, I still somehow manage to go through nearly $50 of fuel in 1 week. I guess I need to start driving more like an old woman rather than a hot shot gangster. Means no more provoking gangsters at red lights, no more driving over the speed limit and generally slower driving overall. Hmm.

Anyway I’m really really full, while I was eating, I was watching an episode of Sayonara Zetsoubou Sensei. The episode I was watching was about some random bunch of Jap people who go around hyping things up. Iphone being one of the most hyped up piece  of tech this year..or should I say since SLICED BREAD had inspired me to do a mock up of the episodes theme ho ho. my pro photoshopping skills. 

Today is Tuesday. I forgot to go to the video store to rent out some new releases for $1/each ho ho.

bought outright @ 199 USD.

If you’ve happened to have the chance to converse with me about anything regarding the Iphone 3g, You would have noticed how I am incredibly skeptical that the Iphone 3g -8gb model can be bought outright for $199.

I mean its only logic right?

lets look at some basics here:

currently Optus is offering these phones:

the n95 -outright- can be upwards of $700

the 6288 - outright - $288

the 6300- outright - $199

YES. THATS RIGHT. In this current market, the 6300 can be purchased for 199 outright. That’s AUD I’d like to point out. Translated to USD is JUST over 187. So you can see, why at first I was skeptical. Iphone. the supposed n95..well..ULTIMATE phone killer..can be purchased for 199USD? CRAZY STUFF.

However, the phones mentioned are locked to the OPTUS network till you’ve recharged a set amount.

A quick search on Ebay with the keywords “iphone” reveals quite a few iphone first generation (unlocked of course) ranging from anywhere between 600-700.

It would probably be at this point, that a person with common sense would ask: but Josh, what’s the difference between the iphone 2g and the iphone 3g?

Well to tell you the truth. Not as much as you would think.

1. its thinner. im not exactly sure HOW MUCH thinner. But rest assured it will be MIGHTY thin. Its even going to make thinner mobiles such as the 6300 look like a fat arse. Just be careful not to snap it ok?

2. GPS - details about this are still a bit fuzzy. But im guessing you’ll be able to find your way around places like plaza with it etc fine…(not like you knew the way before right? -_ - )

3. Upgrade in browsing speeds. Instead of using the old EDGE protocol, the new 3g, as the name suggests, is going to be able to get 3g speeds. What does this mean for people like you? FASTER PORN DOWNLOADS. RIGHT ON!

4. You have to activate it in store. Unlike the first iphones which could be activated using a common copy of Itunes, iphones must be activated in store. Apple says its going to take 10-15 min. -_ - Looks like another reason not to get it on day 1 LOL.

5. THE PRICE DIFFERNCE. The original iphones fetched prices around 600-800. 16 gig..for $800…WTF? LOL That kinda money wouldn’t you think it should come with something like a 64 gig hard d - _ - ”” Anyway, as you may or may not have seen in the pic above, the 8 gig is supposedly a MAXIMUM of $199 . _ . ” so….

Great..are you REALLY that obsessed with the Internet that you need to have access to the Internet 24/7?

-IPOD

as you might have read in the previous post, I already have quite a few of these. Not to mention, my current phone (nokia 6300) plays music. Not to mention, my car with $2000 sound system PLAYS MUSIC. not to mention I have a few actual mp3 players (NOT IPOD) lying around the place.

-Storage device

I already have a portable 120gig hard D, a few 2-4 gig, not to mention the ipods/mp3s.

-Plays videos

PORN ON THE GO. what more do I need to say?

-Organizer/Calendar.

Standard fair on mobiles. so not that much to get exited about.

-It plays games.

SO DOES EVERY OTHER MOBILE SINCE THE GOOD OLD DAYS OF SNAKE. (the thing that ate fruit. not the hero of mgs4. ho ho im so clever with my references)

-WIFI

YES YOU DONT NEED A COMPUTER TO WATCH YOUTUBE ANYMORE. OR A PS3 OR WHATEVER ELSE YOU’VE HACKED TO WATCH YOUTUBE. LOL.

In any case, if you couldnt quite grasp what I was going on about,

I was trying to say..an IPHONE outright..could WELL be plausibly bought outright for under $300 USD. YES I KNOW THE PRICE IS $199 USD. But you know how we Australians always tend to get screwed price wise.

This article is written out almost after a year the iPhone have been released in the market, namely the US and Europe. The iPhone have yet to reach the shores of Singapore officially although many people have made purchases online for a ‘hacked’ iPhone (necessary if they want to use a local service provider in Singapore). Is the iPhone really worth buying? Should everyone get on the iPhone bandwagon and get an iPhone? Let’s take a look:

Living here in Singapore, unless you want to wait for the iPhone to be officially released, you would purchase the iPhone online: Prices range from S$699-S$899. The packaged has to be opened before you receive it because they have to ‘hack’ it so that you can use a local service provider other then the American provider AT&T. In other words, you pay S$899 for an opened, tampered package. But most people who are using the iPhone here said they find no problem thus far or not yet at least. Here is the first con in buying the iPhone now: You do not get the pleasure of unboxing a pristine iPhone. Next, you would not have warranty. Therefore, when something goes wrong with your iPhone either during the tampering or during use, you cannot go anywhere to fix it, EVEN if they do set up a customer service centre here when the iPhone officially DO come to Singapore. This is because your iPhone is purchased illegally in the sense. If this is a risk you are willing to take, by all means go ahead.

Also, even when the iPhone DO get here, chances of it having an exclusive license to sell is very high, that is, the phone can only be sold and be rendered service by ONE provider that is either-

Singtel (most likely), Starhub or M1 (least unlikely). So expect to change service providers if you are not already part of that service provider and also expect to pay high prices due to a slight monopolistic situation. Although Steve Jobs, CEO for Apple promised that the price of $199 for the 8GB will be throughout the world. Probably the local currency equalling US$199 and the worldwide released is planned at 11th July.

One final factor is from iPhone’s competitors. hTC is a mobile device manufacturer from Taiwan that is emerging. Business-savvy people are starting to purchase devices from hTC despite it being from Taiwan. Why is that? Probably because of how cheap and good (in some ways) the phone is. hTC has a line of phone called the ‘touch’ and the most recent and soon to be released one is the Touch Diamond. Go to www.htc.com to find out more about why the phone is almost a substitute for the iPhone.

No doubt there will be a craze for it over here especially when the people were deprived of the iPhone for almost a year. I’ll like to see what the queue is going to look like when iPhone is released in Singapore.

Ultimately, as quoted from CNET review, the iPhone ultimately feel like a slab of metal and not like a phone although there are plenty of things to praise about. In the end it is up to you, the consumer to decide.

So I do not know. Would you mind having Singtel as your service provider if you have been using another service provider all this while, just for an iPhone?

IPHONE IS COMING OUT. COMING OUT JULY 11th! or so the mass media will have you believe. Here’s to hoping it actually DOES come out rather than apple pulling everyone’s leg and fucking us over on July 11 with announcements we will have to wait till next year somewhere to get the iphone > _> ”

I remember, once upon a time, when the original ipods came out, apple had just taken the leap and entered the portable digital music player market. I remember clearly, I said to myself and anyone who cared to listen at that time, that I would NEVER EVER buy any SHIT made by apple. You couldnt even GIVE THEM AWAY to me.

Come to just recently, I myself have bought something like 4 ipods. 1 for my car, 1 for myself to carry around, 1 for Eva bb~~ and 1 for dad.

Yeah. That’s a lot of ipods hey. Especially coming from a guy who originally said he hated ipod and apple in general.

The same guy is also now saying he wants an IPHONE D:

Seriously, you would not believe how many articles/blogs/irc chats I’ve read about the iphone and its arch rival, the n95 D: As opposed to people who only watched Steve Job’s speech the other day of the unveiling of the apple 3g.

Here is a few points i want to point out. These are just my opinions based on what I’ve read/seen. So please don’t hold me to anything I say. but please DO take them with a pinch of salt.

1. I BELEIVE the iphone will cost more than 199 USD outright.

Honestly, lets look at the current Australian market of mobile phones. Take for example, the n95, buying it outright will be anywhere between 600-900 AUD. Brand new, no stings attached. This will not include things like email and IM allowances. Moving down the price range, we have the middle of the range Nokia 6288, also a slide phone, this will cost around $288 AUD. This phone doesn’t support email or IM or other fancy things as far as I am aware. And YES. neither of these phones have a touch screen. Then even lower, there’s some other offering from Nokia for $58 i think, but thats really hardly even worth mentioning. Wouldn’t touch that with a 10 foot pole.

So what exactly makes you think, that an Iphone, which is supposedly, the big new thing, the next step in phone tech, something that can be purchased for under 200 USD?

Do you know why Americans can get theirs for under 200USD? Because its being subsidised. Companies such as AT & T pay for the Iphone upfront. Then they go and resell these phones to people but on the agreement that they sign up for 24 months and pay anywhere from 50USD to 80USD/month for data and call allowances. This people, is why its do-able.

but Josh, Steve Jobs said in his speech of the iphone 3g unveiling that it will be 199USD WORLDWIDE. MAXIMUM. !!!!111!!! ELEVEN!!!1 

YES I KNOW YOU NOOB. I’ve read the other posts and crap about it everywhere. But for the reason I stated above, its not economically sound to buy the phone off apple for..say 500USD and then sell it back to consumers at 199 USD without data plans to make money back like AT & T did. So even if optus and vodafone were to offer up iphones as prepaid, its going to be MUCH MUCH more than 199 USD.

2. In the unlikely event that the iphones DO sell for prices such as $199USD/each, Every noob and his dog is going to have one.

Sleek and Sexy? CHECK.

Touch Screen? CHECK.

Plays music? CHECK.

Fashionable? CHECK.

Able to look at/watch porn? CHECK.

In the end, everyone is going  to have one at these prices.  $199 USD ..i have to wonder what Steve Jobs was thinking. As Lucas said..

“steve jobs is probably sitting in his office somewhere saying to himself “fuck! should have said $1199 USD instead of $199″ “

Does anyone realise what would happen if you could buy an iphone for 199 USD outright? What about higher end phones such as n95 and sony Ericsson etc etc? Who would buy them? Why would you want a $300 or more phone when you could get an iphone for $199?

Those companies would be totally fucked, market share wise.

And the result on society, well, its going to mean EVERYWHERE you look, its going to be freaken iphones. You wont be able to walk 10 meters in the CBD without seeing another iphone. Even in the ghettos, its going to be like that. Even though in the ghettos, 1/2 of them would be stolen units <___< ”

I personally dont have a problem with conforming with society in this instance, I just though its funny.

Agora é oficial, finalmente, Iphone vem ao Brasil. Agora já até temos uma página Iphone em “brasileiro”. Com rápida tecnologia 3G para ambientes móveis, mapas com GPS, suporte a funções corporativas como Microsoft Exchange e o novo AppStore (veja a image ao lado).

A AppStore pode ser acessada tanto pela rede de celular ou Wi-Fi, o que seria a solução para quem não tem Internet sem fio em casa. Ou até mesmo pelo Itunes. O Mapa nessa versão vem com GPS e “previsão de trânsito”.

E chegou uma nova versão: em branco, assim ficará mais parecido com o Ipod.

Aqui o novo comercial do novo Iphone 3G.

O Iphone 8GB que custava US$599, passou a custar US$399 e agora US$199 e o 16GB US$299.

A única coisa que a Apple ficou devendo foi a data do lançamento, o que em alguns países já está agendado para o dia 11 de julho. Até agora (ou para sempre) a Apple só fez contrato com a Claro. Que ainda não declarou nada na sua página.

Eh sì, Steve Jobs aveva annunciato che il nuovo iPhone sarebbe stato più veloce, funzionale e soprattuttuo molto più economico. Le promesse sono state mantenute, l’iPhone da 8 GB sarà venduto a soli 199 $ USA (129 €), ma solo negli Stati Uniti. Infatti Vodafone e Tim commercializzeranno il Melafonino con un rialzo del prezzo di più di 350 €! Bisogna comunque considerare che i prezzi americani sono legati ad abbonamenti con operatori telefonici, mentre quelli vodafone - Ed. 8GB (499 €) Ed. 16GB (569 €) - sono i prezzi con SIM prepagate.

I prezzi Italiani sono comunque molto alti e quindi:

• Visit an Apple Retail Store.
• Find your local AT&T Store.
