So I guess I have time to update this blog.

It's kinda sad that the last time I updated this blog was about how my first job was shutting down. And now my current job just shut down. Yikes.

In the meantime, when I'm not sending out resumes and emails, and adding random updates, I'll get around to finally finishing GTA4. 51.16% complete!

Il Manchester United è campione d'Inghilterra. I red devils hanno vinto per 2-0 sul campo del Wigan nell'ultima giornata della Premier League. La formazione di Alex Ferguson, che oggi si è imposta con i gol di Cristiano Ronaldo e Ryan Giggs, chiude con 87 punti, 2 in piu' rispetto al Chelsea che ha pareggiato 1-1 con il Bolton.

Manchester United plante son décor

Emmené par un Cristiano Ronaldo une fois de plus étincelant (36 buts cette saison avec son club!), Manchester United n'a éprouvé aucune difficulté à disposer de l'AS Roma dans son Stadio Olimpico deux buts à rien en quart de finale aller de la Ligue des Champions. Le leader du championnat anglais a ainsi démontré qu'il avait tout ce qu'il fallait pour remporter la coupe aux grandes oreilles cette saison. Dans le même temps, Barcelone allait s'imposer à Schalke 1 à 0 malgré une prestation bien pâle des Catalans.

Les Romains ont vu et ils ont été vaincus hier soir dans leurs propres arènes par un adversaire, il faut bien l'avouer, supérieur. Les joueurs de Spalletti avaient pourtant à coeur, on en doute pas, de laver l'humiliation que Man U leur avait infligée la saison dernière dans cette même compétition avec ce score historique de 7-1. Mais c'était sans compter sur la détermination des Anglais de gagner cette Ligue des Champions.

Déroutant à souhait sur le flanc gauche, Ronaldo inscrivit le premier but de la partie de la tête à la 39e minute avant de mal retomber, sans gravité pour le Portugais. La bataille se faisait alors essentiellement au milieu de terrain. Tranquilles avec ce but à l'extérieur, les Mancuniens atteignirent la pause sans encombre. Une fois ses quatre vérités entendues dans les vestiaires, c'est une Roma plus conquérante qui remonta sur le terrain. Une, deux, trois actions romaines mais Van der Sar, le portier des Red Devils, veille au grain. L'absence de Totti, meilleur buteur du club, se fit alors cruellement ressentir. Les joueurs de Ferguson reprirent ensuite les commandes du match. L'équipe de la capitale venait de laisser passer sa chance. Quelques coups d'accélérateur de Manchester suffirent pour déstabiliser la défense italienne qui, sur un centre d'Hargreaves à la 66e minute de jeu, allait se trouer par la voie de son gardien Doni. Rooney, à l'affût, ne manqua pas de crucifier la Louve. En fin de match, Ronaldo manquera de peu le doublé sur un centre millimétré du remplaçant Tevez.

Et si la Roma devrait récupérer son capitaine Francesco Totti au match retour, difficile de croire que ce Manchester-là en pâtisse.

Notons aussi que Barcelone se déplaçait en Allemagne, à Schalke. Une action dans les premières minutes de jeu aura suffit aux Catalans pour inscrire un but capital pour la qualification signé Bojan. Les joueurs de la Ruhr auraient toutefois pu revendiquer un score plus à leur avantage s'ils avaient fait preuve d'un peu plus de réalisme devant la cage de Valdés.

Manchester et Barcelone semblent déjà avoir un pied en demi-finale. Une demi-finale qui les opposerait en cas de qualification des Anglais et des Espagnols.

Aston Villa are through to the semi-final of the Youth Cup with goals from Harry Forrester (pictured below) and Barry Bannan (pen) in the opening ten minutes.

Delfouneso, who has recently signed a professional contract at Villa, played well, setting up Forrester's goal and forcing some fine saves from the Carlisle keeper.

Youth coach McAndrew told www.avfc.co.uk "I'm very happy and very proud. I thought the players were tremendous. We've probably played a little bit better before, but the commitment and the way they defended and put their bodies on the line was absolutely fantastic."

"We've been talking all week about starting the game properly and trying to put them under pressure right from the first whistle."

"I thought the first 20 minutes we played really well. We scored two goals. Harry's was a great strike and the move for the penalty was very good."

"We had two or three other chances, but Harry's goal really set us on our way. I was pleased for him because he's lacked a bit of confidence lately, but that will do him the world of good."

Primer partido de Champions del Blog

Hoy se intensifican mis sensaciones del otro día. Por un lado, estoy aún más satisfecho por haber ganado un partido importante fuera, contra un rival de cierta entidad que plantó cara. Por otro lado, también estoy más preoucupado por la plaga de lesiones en la línea defensiva. Que os parecería una línea con Puyol-Márquez-Milito-Zambrotta? Es exactamente la que proponía yo al principio de temporada antes de saber que Abidal era Superman. Pues bien, los 4 están groggys, y hasta Abidal me asustó cuando se fue al suelo con el tobillo enroscado.
Pero bueno, se recuperó y por un rato tuvimos el efecto espejo que defiende Crespo: dos centrales casi clónicos, casi con el mismo dorsal, hablando en francés entre ellos.
Siendo serios, espero que lo de Puyol no sea grave. Si es una recaída ya sería demencial. Hacerle jugar bajo riesgo es estúpido, por mucho que abriese el marcador, no sale a cuenta.
Por cierto, Puyol ayer tuvo un partido de lo más raro. Fue suplente cuando nunca lo es, salió a los 5 minutos, no fue capi (eso lo veo lógico, pero el otro día contra el Levante lo fue, y los de Calella defendían que era normal y que el capitán siempre se quedaba el brazalete si entraba, cuando nunca ha sido así), marcó un gol ratonero tras rematar Ronnie, sólo, de cabeza (!) y se tuvo que volver a ir.
Lo de Márquez ya es otra cosa: sin ser Perarnau, una lesión muscular a los 5 minutos estoy seguro que es culpa de un mal calentamiento. No sé quien falla ahi, jugador o técnicos, pero no puede ser, y menos ahora sin Touré Yaya.
De los demás, poco que decir. Volví a tener la misma sensación de que pasaban un poco, de que querían hacerlo demasiado bonito...joder, eso mola, pero tb echo un poco de menos a Eto'o o hasta a Giuly, que no estaban para florituras. Al menos no se les puede culpar de jugar lentos. En algunas jugadas si que faltó ser algo más incisivo, pero la verdad es que las conexiones eran bastante rápidas, y por una vez Ronaldinho puso su infinita calidad a este servicio, en vez de ser un freno de mano.
Resto de partidos:
Flipante el Lyon! Si nos pulimos al Rangers ya estamos casi casi clasificados!
Bien el Sevilla, que por cierto jugaba contra el Barça (vestían igual...bueno no, molaba más pq tenían una estrella roja en el corazón)
Según el del plus, el Manchester Roma fue un partidazo, y realmente debió serlo, pq en el resumen se veía por parte del Manchester a Cristiano Ronaldo, Rooney, Tévez, Nani...y por el otro lado a una Roma que tiene en plantilla mil jugadores de banda casi iguales (Mancini, Cassetti, Tonetto, Cicinho, Giluy...) que dan muchísimo juego (vi su partido contra la Juve). Realmente 2 de mis favoritos para la Champions de este año.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

This 1969 classic is truely timeless and has been a top seller for well over 30 years. It was a favourite of mine as a child and I'm delighted that it is now a favourite of my children too.

The simpel story of a caterpillar, from egg to butterfly is nostalgia itself. From the basic tale, to the wonderfully colourful images that are at once both simple illustration and intricately textured fascination incarnate.

The book has been credited to work on a number of levels from simple tale to dietry guide book to early years biological text to learning days of the week to a first numbers book, it covers a huge number of bases and there aren't many books that can make that claim! It's short enough to be ready quickly without the loss of any magic and with a little emphasis on this word or that it's a book that works supremely well when read aloud.

If there has ever been a children's book I'd recommend it's this one. Children love to have it read to them and adults love to read it, simply fantastic!

"little, big!", by Templar and Emma Dodd

This is one of those cutesy palm sized baby books with thick cardboard pages and big bright, contrasting pictures. I actually really like this book with it's pages that the lass can turn while I gain just enough of a glimpse of the page to read the brief two-worder before the lass whips us off to the next bit :)

It's 'plot' is easy to follow with such wonderfully simplistic 'chapters' reading simply, "little fish ... [page turn] ... BIG FISH!". I bet you can guess what the pictures are of too! The illustrations themselves are one of the best things about this book, lots of bright images with black crayon-esque borders on bright backgrounds.

Aside from the reading, the lass also enjoys it as a teething aide although it's a hardy wee book which has held up well to the abuse it's taken ... at least it's not turned to much yet, unlike it's predecessors!

I've not had a look at the rest of the Amazing Baby series of books that this one is part of, although based on little, big! I could be sorely tempted ...
